Don't go here!!! Turn around and go to apple. I got my iPhone 8 fixed not long ago. Immediately, I could notice that the color of the new screen they put on doesn't match the color of my home button (which came from Apple originally). I suspected the screen they used might be some cheap quality eBay replacement but let it slip. Then my screen began getting more and more stagnant and irresponsive two months later. It slowly fell apart. Now it's completely broken with ghost touch everywhere. I had to get a new phone. What a waste of money. A shame. (Update: in the response they admitted for not selling the original screen. at Apple they would only charge $149 for an original screen, unlike the $400 this owner claims. I assumed there wouldn't be a refund -- it was never stated during the process. I took the phone to Apple, losing trust in SmartFixx. The guy there examined this replaced screen and pretty much just said they do not recommend anyone to get this kind of replacement. They broke my phone while repairing it. (It had been working fine beforehand, with a single crack in the screen.) The owner had the nerve to offer a partial refund, not a full refund, not paying for the phone they broke. Delays while they attempted to fix the phone: - no screens in stock (3 days) - no batteries in stock (5 days) Twice I showed up during the posted business hours, but the shop was closed. At the beginning of this process, they quoted me one price on the phone, and then charged me a higher price once I was in the store. read more

My Android phone screen was cracked (though the phone and touchscreen were still functional) and the staff ordered a new screen and fixed the phone. They typically service iPhones so it took a little longer (overnight instead of a few minutes or hours) and probably cost me a little more ($75 versus the typical $55 or $60 for iPhones) but I'm very satisfied with the end result. And that $75 included the part since they don't regularly carry it. I had no other options from my service provider other than pay full price for another phone since I'm under contract for another 15 months. The great thing which I didn't expect is that SmartFix not only gave me a loaner phone while they fixed my phone overnight, they gave me an iPhone which was more than expected. I chose to go to this place despite seeing other cheaper places because i thought it would be more legitimate (because it has a store in short north) - unfortunately my experience has been filled with unpleasant visits to the store 3 times over a period of 2 weeks because of issues with their repair. I originally went to get a cracked screen replaced. There are a number of negative things that should have led me to write this sooner -- but i wrote it off -- finally it was all too much First and foremost. the glass screen they use is a cheap knock off - a slight bump caused it to break again within 2 weeks. They do not honor any kind of warranty. Going back there -- the guy who is the technician did not act like he cared much and went on to say it was not his problem. I had to pay a further 45 to get it repaired AGAIN. now I've worked as a computer tech and I know that small businesses heavily rely on customer loyalty. When someone puts his money in your business.. you take care of them.. i did not feel like this guy cared... he was way more interested in getting $45 more from me in something that took him 30 minutes to fix. Other things: - the first time I went there the technician returned the phone without the earpiece grill. - after receiving the phone back the first time i noticed the screw was missing from the bottom of the phone. had to go back and get another one - The technician originally lied to me and told me he was not the technician. so i had to leave my phone there for a 3 hours (their advertisements say they will fix the phone and return it within 45 minutes). read more

I went to a different repair shop one year prior for a cracked screen, and the screen replacement was dull in color and every time I tried to edit a text, my autocorrect would add in multiple unwanted words. I cracked my screen again and decided to try smart fix. The tech tried to fix it twice and cracked the screen when finishing the repair. He realized the previous shop left a loose screw in the repair and after a couple of attempts he figured it out and corrected their mistake (a different company). He fixed the screen so that I can now properly text and the screen is as bright as intended. He made sure it worked well and absolutely better than before. Dishonest or incompetent - don't shop here. I went in to SmartFix to get my phone's headphone jack fixed, and the employee told me they needed to order a replacement part. He insisted that I give him a $20 deposit while they ordered the part. Over two weeks later, I hadn't heard a thing from them. I called, and the manager told me they never ordered the part and he had no idea what happened. I'm getting my deposit back and taking my business elsewhere. I no longer trust SmartFix to be honest and advise you not to either. read more

I remember the guy said and I quote "your phone will be as good as new." Well, it isn't. Apparently he doesn't use the same glass that comes with the phone and now my ear and face activate buttons so now I regularly mute or disconnect the calls. Definitely not as good as new. read more

Dropped off Nexus 5 eight days ago (Saturday Aug 8th, 2015 at 2:38pm) at their Polaris location. The guy working the booth was into his music on his Ipad and I stood in front of him for several minutes before he became cognizant of my presence. He quoted me a pretty steep price to replace broken glass and started surfing ebay for a glass fixit kit. I opened ebay app and told him I could sent it 2nd day to NJ and have it back guaranteed by August 17th for $80. He dropped his price so I said OK but I have to have it back as its for daughter leaving for college in 10 days. On Monday the 10th I ordered accessories on ebay from different sellers and received all items by Thursday the 14th but still no word from Smartfix. I called Polaris Smartfix on Sat Aug 15th and asked status of repair. "We don't have the parts yet".... so I asked if they could obtain the tracking info from the ebay seller because time is short. "I'll get it and call you back"....... I gave them 2 days to return my call to no avail so I called the main location on High St in the short north and explained my frustration. He gave me the managers phone number, I thanked him. Called Manager at 1640 hours today and got voice mail. That was 6.5 hours ago. Synopsis- They try to gouge you on price and are totally unresponsive to customers. Run away, run far away! This is only second time I've had service of a type to prompt a yelp review. First was a different business that was as incredibly positive as this is negative. I will be driving to Polaris tomorrow to retrieve the phone and contest the deposit with our credit card company. Pathetic Update- It is now 11 days and the phone was taken off site by the "manager" who wasn't in on the 18th and isn't scheduled to go back til 5PM on the 19th. Took my iPhone 8 Plus in to have a cracked screen replaced. After having the screen replaced, I did the iOS update. My phone could not receive/place calls and the cursor would not work when I tried to edit a document/email. I went to my carrier, AT&T to see if it was a network setting or issue. They checked and said no, it was a hardware issue and I needed to go to Apple to repair it. I went to Apple, they ran a diagnostic test, and said the issues were the result of a poorly installed screen. A couple of things I learned. SmartFix is NOT an authorized repair shop for Apple devices. Having them do work on your iPhone VOIDS any warranty you have on the phone. If you have ANY additional issues with your iPhone, it will be considered out of warranty. If your phone is still under warranty, I highly recommend going to Apple to replace a cracked screen. I wish SmartFix would have provided such guidance, they chose not to. When I emailed them for a refund, they said they could not do it, that they would have fixed my phone for me. They let me leave with a phone that was not properly repaired, voided my warranty, and then want a second chance. Spend your money wisely. read more

Broke my screen while away in Massachusetts and had a guy in the Cape Cod mall replace it. Shortly after getting the new screen, weird stuff started happening (ghost dialing, unable to touch certain letters etc). I believe it was poorly connected. The last thing I wanted to do the day I got back was get it redone. I went to one place downtown to that was sketchy and asked me to wait hours. I went to smart-fix in the short north the next morning instead. Got there before they opened and found so many interesting places walk to! Great area with trendy fun eateries & shops. When the gentleman greeted me upon opening, I knew I had come to the right place. He was so kind and understanding of the strange things the phone was doing, and he was exceptionally knowledgeable too! The 15 min it took to fix flew by as he was so interesting to chat with! I cracked the screen of my iPhone 6, and a representative at Verizon recommended Smart Fix to get the screen replaced. I took my phone to Smart Fix on August 4th to get the screen replaced. My screen was replaced, but in the process of replacing the screen something was reconnected incorrectly, and my front and back camera of my iPhone are no longer functioning. The screen is black whenever I open the camera application. I know my camera was working properly even with the cracked screen and prior to the repair because I have pictures saved from both the front and back camera during the time my screen was cracked. I explained this to the employee at Smart Fix, and he said they needed to order a new part to fix it. I went back a week later to get the new part installed, and my camera still did not work. Once again, I was told that a different part would need to be purchased, and someone would give me a call when the part was in. This was 3 weeks ago. It has now been over a month since my initial screen replacement, and my camera is still not functioning. I have made phone calls, left voicemails, made several trips to both locations at Tuttle Mall and Polaris Mall and have yet to have the situation resolved or any solution offered to me by Smart Fix. The manager, Tez, that all the employees keep referencing has never contacted me, nor is he ever around when I stop by the store. To add insult to injury, Apple will not fix the camera issue because an outside third party has now performed services on the phone. This has been an extremely frustrating process, and Smart Fix has been very unprofessional throughout. I do not want to have to purchase a new phone or pay to have somebody else resolve the problem when the problem was caused by Smart Fix. Since the manager will not contact me, the only solution I could think of was to file a complaint with the BBB. I would pay the extra money and have Apple get it right the first time. read more

These guys are straight up crooks. They claimed they could fix an ipod of mine but not only could they not, they destroyed it in the process making it totally un usable, and it looks like someone took a screwdriver to every aspect of the 160gb. The face plate, screen, back, and everything else is destroyed. Not only did they not offer up compensate me for it. They basically told me, tough shit the owner is out of town, deal with it. If you plan on doing business with these guys in the future, make sure you get ready to contact the Better Businessman Bureau. I went to this business to have my iPhone 6 screen fixed. I got it fixed, $160, but noticed immediately they don't use the real Apple screen and the new screen is so cheap and not durable at all. Well a few days later I noticed the screen wasn't on all the way so I called and they said it needed to be re glued. Well the next day my phone dropped, not even hard at all, and a piece of my screen chipped off! So I called them and they're like oh we don't cover cracks. I'm so pissed bc my phone only cracked because they didn't glue it on right in the first place!!!!!! After called a couple times they said the best they could do is only charge me for the screen, which is $80!!!!!! I'm not paying over $200 for you to fix my screen!!! I've called them multiple times and at multiple locations, and they're still acting like this isn't their fault. My phone has a HOLE IN IT!!!!!!! they "fixed" my cracked screen on my ipod touch, they told me that while they were fixing it, it overheated and they needed to replace the back? which doesnt make much sense but whatever, oh and then they need to factory restore it. so now the only part that is actually "mine" is the inside. well it sucks the screen doesnt work properly and the battery dies with in 40 mins. horrible job read more
