I don't shop at this Smart & Final very often, but after this visit, I don't see myself coming back anytime soon. I stopped by because I saw an online ad for colossal shrimp that was on sale. When I couldn't find them in the freezer section, I asked an employee for help. Instead of walking over to help me or even checking if they were still in stock, he simply pointed in the general direction where they should be and walked away. Seemed like he just didn't want to help me and was annoyed that I even asked for help. Eventually, I found what I believed were the shrimp from the ad, but they weren't labeled in the freezer section. To make matters more confusing, the online ad clearly advertised them as colossal shrimp, but the bag I picked up didn't actually say "colossal shrimp" anywhere on the packaging. Because of that, I wasn't confident I had the correct product. Then came checkout. There was only one register open, so the line had grown pretty long. Another cashier opened a register and called for the next customer in line to come over. Before those of us who had been waiting could move, a customer from farther back in line rushed over and cut in front of everyone. It was frustrating because the cashier saw what happened but didn't correct it. After finishing that customer's transaction, he apologized to those of us who had been waiting, which I was nice but I felt the situation should have been addressed before the customer was checked out. Before paying, I showed the cashier the online ad to make sure I had picked up the correct shrimp since nothing was labeled. And then he kinda had a slight attitude that I inquired about it as well. I felt like I would never inquired about it if it was properly labeled in the aisle. I also briefly thought the shrimp had rung up for about $37 per bag, but it turned out I had misread the screen the total was for two bags, so the sale price was correct. What should have been a quick trip to pick up two bags of shrimp turned into a frustrating experience. Between the lack of assistance from the employee, the confusion over the product labeling, and the way the checkout line was handled, the visit just wasn't enjoyable. I don't visit this location often, and experiences like this make me hesitant to return. read more

Update. We actually went to the Fairfield Smart and Final. And they couldn't explain why the Vallejo Smart and Final changed their policy on the Fries but the manager refunded our money back! NOW THATS CUSTOMER SERVICE! I occasionally go to the Vallejo S&F but from now on i will never step into this nasty dirty filthy place again! read more

Honestly, it's Smart & Final, what else can you say? Well quite a bit actually. First, not the friendliest place to shop. Parking lot is quite interesting, the inside is so mis organized where finding regular items becomes a chore. Lines were abnormally long with barely any staff working, which is likely the key issue. Most of the produce and fruit was not appealing, which is one of the reasons I come to Smart & Final. All and all, this was more of a shanty town visit versus a standard Smart & Final...till next time I guess. read more

Prices can't be beat service the worst you can wait in line for 10 to 15 min on normal day. Help does not know any codes or not knowing what a item is on produce. Produce department has a good selection but parts of the wet rack are under water Radishes are under water most of the time. read more

Nice enough store, but checkout lines toooo long, and HERE'S WHY: Half dozen of us w/one or two items are in the express lane but the store manager allows a guy with an overflowing cart (shopping for his restaurant) to go through the express lane (even though another register was open). Most of people I saw today do not want to be there. No smiles no customer service. Except the cart guy he was nice to me. I lost my Benz key it slipped thru the cracks of my cart. Stupid me to put it there. I was only in 3 aisles and I couldn't find it. Produce is the Worst! pre made salads rotten.the spring mix type in lg clear plastic boxes. From food 4 less and safeway last up to 2weeks..no more than 3 days from Dumb/Final. ..tomatoes Furry .bananas are either Green..or close to rotting...no cherry tomatoes....close checker lanes faster than Vegas changes dealers. but.. staff are under lots of pressure and underpaid..but still seem pleasant. lots of Frozen food selections, store and parking lot usually clean.. bottom line, non perishable items..not bad..otherwise Run away..and have patience at check out. Like how the remodel store, more spacious and item are reasonable . What I did find disheartening was they have bins in the produce section that day they buy locally but the Roma Tomatoes in the bins clearly state product of Mexico. ( see pics) Last time I checked my map Mexico was not local to Vallejo, CA. I asked rhe produce girl if they had any Roma Tomatoes grown locally she said no. Looked at other produce and a lot of it was from Mexico. After checking out Manager ( Mariam ) if they had any grown locally and she did not know, asked the same girl u asked and was told no and that they have been using produce from Mecico for a while. Well, My wife and I have shopped here, And here is our honest review. Entry way to store, Filthy, dirty and disgusting. So why doesn't the manager rent a power washer and get an employee to power wash the front area outside of store?? 2) leaving skids of bottled drinking water out in the hot sun is a giant NO / NO , Again, why does manager think this is OK? It is actually a health risk because plastic bottles leech toxic chemicals into drinking water if they sit out in hot sun or inside of hot cars! 3) we bought a package of chicken breast , cooked it and it was sol tough I almost broke my teeth trying to chew it. Staff is always so friendly. When I go there I feel at home. Almost never a line. The only time I've seen a line are the day before the holidays but that just because the store is awesome everyone needs things there. Everything is clean, there is a clean bathroom, neatly put veggies. AND! This one time an employee saw my baby crying because she didn't see any kindle chocolate, and he went out of his way to get that for her in the back of the store! He called someone on the speaker and they brought it to us while we were paying. It was so nice. Supper recommend :) read more

I like this store for their great grocery prices and customer service. With some items they beat other stores like Safeway, Walmart etc. Parking lot is reasonably huge, so no shortage there. Their shelves are mostly stocked and organized. I would highly recommend this store for grocery shopping. read more

Smart & Final gets a D. They had mostly private label brands and large quantity containers of brand name things. I did find a few organic alternatives. Prices were comparable but the huge sizes made it hard to judge. Again, their produce section is less than desirable. I found the checkout clerk to be lacking. No greeting or thank you when we were done with our transaction. It was bagged sufficiently and we went on our merry way. We will shop there again when we have need to buy gigantic sizes for Scouts, but for our small household, we will shop elsewhere. read more

This store could be great. The prices are very reasonable. The clerks are friendly and helpful. The problem is the other shoppers in the store. Even though masks are required in Vallejo many people were wearing them on their chin. We finally asked a clerk if they could ask people to pull their masks up over their nose. They announced on the loudspeaker that everyone should be wearing a face mask properly. Since there is only one line to wait in to checkout the line goes all the way down the frozen food aisle. Many people in the line were not wearing a mask properly. We asked the security guard to do something. He inquired if we would like him to kick them out and we said Yes! So people finally pulled their masks up. The whole ordeal ruined our shopping trip. The management needs to do a better job of enforcing the rules if we are ever going to get covid-19 under control. Keep in mind people that this is a box store but it offers more than any other box store around has! This store is great. Every time I have been here, the checkers are polite and happy, and really nice to me. So much different from the frazzled, unhappy workers at Safeway. Quality is very good, with great prices, lots of variety and all the things I need. Yes, there are homeless people nearby, but that's happening everywhere. Oh, and of course there are going to be lines. THERE'S A PANDEMIC. People have to maintain safe physical distancing, so the lines will appear long, because there's so much more space between the shoppers waiting to check out. Lots of shortcomings with this location that often times don't seem worth the bargains. You need to really read your receipts here, as the circular-advertised prices scan higher at the register. No service desk, so this means getting back in the long lines to get your refund for overcharges. I'd probably never buy any fresh produce here either, with the word fresh being a misnomer. read more

The staff is great they work their butts off, my main problem is with the corporate. Why are you switching your store hours back to regular hours in the midst of a pandemic? It's really like you just do not care about the people that work there. Instead of keeping it 8am-8pm you decided to open back up to regular hours 6am to 10pm so you can make an extra profit. The place has been completely re-modeled and has turned into a Smart and Final "Extra" I guess is like Walmart and target where they become a "super" version of its former self. So the layout of the aisles have changed where once you walk in. It basically looks like a typical grocery store. From the previous layout, there is almost double the amount of stuff than before. However service is super slow and I was in there for 5mins and there were two cashiers open with 8 or more people in both lines. The lady in front of me had three different purchases of 30 things each and barely gave a second glance to myself holding ONE item. Also the employees lolling about weren't very helpful until the lines got annoyingly long and then they decided maybe, the cashiers could use some help. This place regardless of the structural change, is really still the same. Slow service, dusty look, and average prices. read more

I'd give this store a negative if I could for what I experienced yesterday. I've been there before and it wasn't great but serviceable. Yesterday was the worst experience I've ever had in a retail store. ROBERT, the cashier sucks ass. He was slow as molasses. I've been to Walmart where the special needs cashier worked faster and more efficient then he did. There were only 2 customers with a moderate amount of groceries and it took 45 minutes to get out of the store. There were only 2 other lines open and store was packed. Awful store. Awful customer service. Their sale promotions are incorrect and their store manager refused to resolve the issue. She has the worst attitude and should not be working retail with her extremely poor skills in customer service. When my insta cart driver showed up to pick up an order, she refused to provide him with the items (which were available because he sent me a picture of the items in the case). When I called to ask her why she wouldn't release my items to him she lied saying they were out of stock. So when I called her out on her lie and said I had a picture of the items being in stock she got defensive and hung up on me and cleared out the case (which my driver also took a picture of her doing so). I tried calling back and instead of her talking to me and explaining her reason for her actions she would answer and hang up. After about 5 calls she decided to disconnect the entire phone line. Hopefully there were no emergency calls during the time because the phone was offline, her behavior is unacceptable. My driver was stuck there for 3 hours with my order and two other orders of the same item and she refused to help him. Needless to say Tricia the "store manager" is currently under investigation by corporate. Good luck to her. read more
