Wow..I was amazed to see the quality of produce they had on display. Walking through the market reminded me of going through sprouts or a whole foods. This was not the smart and final I remember when I was growing up. The onion selection was definitely better than the ralphs or Albertsons I usually go to and the grapes were firm and I couldn't find a bag that contained any rotten ones (Albertsons /ralphs) . All in all great store but I couldn't give 5 stars only because I did not get to check out the meat selection. read more

The store is laid out fairly well. The selection is good. However, their customer service is laughable. Instead of saying they are not sure if they have a particular item, they will send you on a goose chase and hide when you discover their deception. They will continually ask you if you are finding everything you need today, but they do not mean it. I have had 4 different occasions when they would promise to order something just to get you to go away. Certain individuals will tell you to come back on a certain day so that they can help you personally. Do not be surprised when you find out that day is their REGULAR day off. This hide and go seek game is even played by the store manager who asks for you phone number so they can let you know when your item has arrived and the lying employee has been dealt with. While shopping for fish in Smart and final on eltoro in lake forest, we saw one of the packages has a skinny worm in the package. The package was the type the store it self seals. The worm was alive and moving. the worm was 1 to 1 1/2 in length. I took 8 photos of the package. I also notified the store manager at the time . First the good, a decent selection of general grocery store items with some good pricing on bulk items. And now the bad, Hoping for a few bulk items the misses and I decided to check out this Smart & Final...mistake. While checking out the young cashier inadvertently charge me for 4 cartons of eggs. Then when trying to void the eggs she somehow cancelled the entire transaction. After several minuets of me standing there with my full basket of bagged groceries & her trying to figure it out, a 'manager' was requested. The manager had even less success and directed me to another isle where he immediately turned on the 'lane open light' and several customers immediately got into line behind me. My suggestion to just start over was ignored. While standing at the credit card machine, receiving no communication from the manager & waiting for him to figure it out, he started to ring up the customer behind me. At that point I had enough and just walked out. After leaving we went to the Ralph's just a few miles down the road. Virtually the same items were purchased and the pice was a few dollars cheaper at Ralph's. Never again Smart & Final. read more

This is probably the best place to go for bulk items and catering supplies if you don't have a warehouse membership. I've bought burner trays and other supplies for parties over the years, and their prices really can't be beat. Instead of renting chafing dishes, buy them at Smart and Final, preferably on sale. Use them once, and sell the like-new dishes on Craigslist. In the end it's cheaper than renting, but of course you have to deal with a Craigslist sale. read more

The Smart & Final Extra! markets seem to be slightly more upscale and nicer versions of the Smart and Final chain. Prices are very reasonable, but I usually head in for specific items, not for a full load of groceries. Coffee syrups are very inexpensive here when compared to markets or coffee shops, and buying in a bit of bulk (6 syrups) saves even more. They also have good and inexpensive bulk treats; I like the dark chocolate covered cashews and espresso beans. read more

I came in with my mom today to get some salami and eggs. I was surprised that the prices were so low compared to grocery stores in the area. The second thing I noticed was that the place had a lot of staff present. I could easily find someone to help if I needed anything! Other than that, the store has a slightly dirty, warehouse feel. OMG! I love this place!! It feels like you're in a supermarket but with only bulk items. It's great for a larger family and you don't have to wait in the long lines of Costco. Selection of brand names is terrific. My variety pack of Miss Vickie's chips is going to make a lot of peeps happy! The only thing poo is the parking lot. This morning the checker at the 10 items or less took a customer with a flat cart with 100 or more items and a bill of over $600. She was the only one open at the time. Shortly into the transaction she called for more checkers. They came and were instantly taken by customers with full carts, leaving no checker doing 10 items or less. SmartCo ROCKS!!! This is a store that has just about everything. I buy the Folger's coffee (the bags put in a cup) by the boxes. I like their sales on pack of 2 frying chickens for around $9. We've been there four times and each time the cashiers have been rude, grouchy and gripe at us. Today we had to bag our own groceries while cashier kept zinging items like she was trying to hit our hands, then kept sighing that we were doing her job of bagging groceries too slow. Got mad that I didn't want the diet pop I mistakenly got instead of regular. I'm glad the store requires masks, hers was below her chin. my favorite smart and final location so far.. its so big with so many selections inside. everything is well organized and its pretty easy to find whatever im looking for. i like their self-serve part. they have all different kind of granola, beans, snacks, chocolates, etc for you to choose from. so if you just want to try them without having to buy too much, this is the right place for you. they have a pretty good weekly sale sometime too. i just bought two watermelon for $2.99 each. such a good deal!! the melon is very sweet, juicy, and crunchy!! sooo good and so refreshing, especially when eaten under this crazy hot temperature.. happy shopping!! read more

This store had started to clean up but the cashiers their need training. They are unprofessional, talk disrespectful and have no class what so ever. Walking through the store and three Hispanic guys are picking skin off the the baked chicken being sold and food out of the barrels. I called the manager in the store and he said they are watching them and are going to approach them. Apparently this isn't the first time. The clientele is ok not great:(.
