I stopped in to pick up a last-minute gift and was surprised by how busy the store was. The checkout lines were packed, and it felt like everyone had decided to shop at the same time. Despite the rush, Rudy did an outstanding job getting things under control. He moved customers through quickly, and the long lines shrank in no time. What impressed me most was that, even under all that pressure, Rudy maintained a positive attitude, kept a smile on his face, and provided exceptional customer service. He was friendly, helpful, and genuinely seemed to care about helping customers. The 7733 N First St store in Fresno, CA, at Nees/First crossroads, has the angriest cashiers. Im a Regular shopper for many years it's my neighborhood store, it's sad how the cashiers treat us customers with hateful disrespect and make nasty comments, give dirty looks.. Customers are quiet & respectful, never seen a reason to behave harshly. If u ask how r u? The answer is shitty, im here, or nasty comments to us customers that, "it's your card's damn fault, not my machine" when their constant glitchy Card machine isn't working again. My card, other customers say the same, our cards work everywhere else, no issues. They manually type in cards half the time and get pissed at the customers, including me, my spouse We are forced to pay with a CC we do not want to use, so we can avoid nasty treatment by Cashiers. S & F @ First st, has a culture of hateful treatment of customers, some Cashiers refuse to speak at all, respond regularly with a hateful dirty look, like the same Male cashier who shows his disdain for all non-black skin customers, some call it racism. S&F cashiers @ 7733 N First St . It's sad, I used to enjoy shopping there for years. They are close, good prices, clean & good selection. Hiring & keeping cashiers who take their misery upon customers must stop or the store will Go Out of Business. We come all the way here for their Roasted Chicken. The flavor of the chicken makes it worth the drive. This location it's always clean, the staff it's always amicable and the produce a it's always fresh.they have prices to buy in bulk or by the piece. This was this past Mother's Day. I was shocked to see what I didn't see, and that was no fruit. The parfait I believe had three berries and some type of yogurt very disappointing. Who's every job was is to fill this rack definitely failed on this day, I had to go to your competitors, which is Aldi to get the fruit that I needed. I drove from the outskirts of Fresno because I love Smart and final, but on this day, you failed me and your consumers. I hope that's smart and final looks into this and rectify the situation. Nice big store. It looked pretty clean and organized. Cashier was friendly and really my only purpose was to make a quick purchase for cash back. Some of the prices are ridiculous. I am always checking out Bang Energy flavors and prices and this was one of the most expensive prices I have seen on Bang drinks. Hence why I am knocking down a star. Smart and Final has always been pretty decent on prices but this was not a "smart" price. read more

Very nice version of Smart and final! Most definitely had "extra" things that the average smart and final does not have.

So Vons closed down leaving a serious need for another grocery store in the area. Then Smart n Final Extra moved in. What a great addition. Not only does the neighborhood gain the benefit of a bulk food and supply store, but the extra means a fresh produce, meat and dairy section too. I have been all over town checking supply prices for a good size event. This place had a great selection of disposable and nice looking dinner and serveware with good prices. Yeah...a few selections were cheaper than Costco, but not everything. And most items were not even available at the mega box store. Produce and meat looked fresh and reasonably priced. The store was clean and bright. The only iesue was there were not enough checkstands open for the crowd wanting to checknout. This is a consistent problem that I have found at every Smart n final....so no shocker there. read more

3.5 really. Perfectly good store, nothing great or terrible about it. Always pretty clean, decent fresh grocery selection including some imported cheeses. I usually come here for some pantry stock like cereal, popcorn, bottled water, and La Croix. Occasionally I'll grab some other bits and pieces that I need. It's the only place I've found lately that sells Weetabix (a Kellogg's wheat cereal) so I always stop in here for that. They also have a lot of La Croix flavors that can be hard to find elsewhere like coconut, apricot and mango. They tend to have some deals too. Decent selection of alcohols, including a decent selection of $15-25 wines. Other home necessities like detergents etc are well-stocked but didn't seem to me to be any cheaper than at other stores. Overall, I haven't noticed a huge difference in price from other supermarkets nearby, including the Save Mart across the street. Always seems pretty clean in here. Service is efficient but not always particularly friendly. I've had one or two cashiers not even greet me. Not bad, but only my go-to except for a few key items. read more

Ugh. It's never really a comfortable place to shop. I saw some things at the one downtown on Ventura, but I wasn't going home at that time so when I got the chance, I stopped in here. Couldn't find most of the stuff I saw downtown and what I did find was more expensive. Actually only purchased four items. Because my tomato garden is slowing down for the season, I needed one until one of mine gets ripe. Since I only had a few items and only one tomato, I had the tomato unbagged on the belt at checkout. This checker named Christopher is making jokes with a middle aged woman in front of me about Resident Evil. I was embarrassed for her because she was trying to play along as he kept pushing her to share what she knew about Resident Evil until she finally was forced to admit she knew nothing. Good thing she had a mask on because I'm sure her face was an unnatural color at that point. He seemed amped up like a tweaker. While talking with her, he reaches to my stuff, grabs my tomato, and plays with it in his hand almost the entire time I stood there, often juggling it with one hand or roiling it around. As I'm paying, he says "it's wrinkly". I explained that I just needed one that was ripe because of my garden and stated that he must be a picky eater. He says "I am". He's still fondling my tomato and I said, "you know, maybe you should put that down. Remember, it's going in somebody's mouth". He set it down and I walked out of Smart & Final for the last time. I owned this company's stock for years. Bought it right before they started opening more stores and the different concepts. The stock was also disappointing. Now I don't even want to eat this tomato. read more

Just went to Smart and final to pick up a 5 gallon ice cream of vanilla wasn't too happy that they were out of it I think maybe he didn't wanna unload the truck to get it off it terrible customer service on top of that they wouldn't even give me the price for the 5 gallon which was on sale for $5.49 but a 2 gallon ice cream was 3.49 each make the total 7.00 more than a 5 gallon .Would even match the price for it.I think it poor customer service never go there again read more

This specific location of Smart and Final really needs some Customer service training. A few months ago, I asked a produce guy for help and he declined saying he was at the end of his shift. I was bothered, but I let it go. Well last Tuesday took the cake! I went in early morning, 7:05 to be exact, to grab some stuff before work, and when I went to the checkout line, the man in front of me wanted to purchase just a bag so that he can get cash back. He told the cashier, whose name is Alice, to let me have the bag. She said, "no you take it"....instead, he just nodded at me and left the bag there folded on top of the counter. (Note-he didnt even touch the bag) Well, when she rang me up, she asked me if I needed a bag, I said "yes-I have that bag" looking to the bag the man left me. She made a face, completely ignored me, and RANG ME UP FOR MY OWN BAG!! I said "that man gave me his bag"....welp she still ignored me and waited for me to pay. Since I was already running a few min late for work, I didn't have time to argue. Why the heck would she be this petty? For a .10 cent bag?? It bugged the crap out of me all the way to work! Why would she just not let me have the bag the man gave me??? So I emailed Smart & Final, along with my receipt, asking if there is some type of rule saying customers can't give their bags away, and I have yet to hear anything back from them.They have absolutely no interest in improving their their customer service. I told my family and coworkers about this incident, and lo and behold l, they've had bad experiences there too. So we are all boycotting them, and just going across the street to Save Mart or Sams Club a few blocks away. Screw this store read more

This is probably my favorite place for fresh flowers and pastries. There's a great variety for such low prices. If you are low on money and want to get a nice arrangment of flowers you can find a half dozen roses for just 4.99. There's always a nice, fresh selection- no wilted petals. read more

Really like this place for dry goods in bulk packaging. Pretty clean and organized. Terrible, terrible produce that isn't kept cool enough (I think) because there have been items that have rotted within one day of purchase. read more
