This is my local smart and final. I love coming for the sodas, water and juices and of course my spices. I've boughten a little bit of everything before but I'd say most def these are my mains. Store is always clean ( if there's a mess they're on it ). Produce section is always fresh and clean. And just the employees in general. I had no idea this location existed, I stumbled upon it an I was so glad I did. Although it is way smaller than the other ones I've been too they still had everything I was as looking for and it's way less crowded and service is great. It's off of main st and plenty of parking. read more

This Smart & Final location is a couple miles away from my home, but if need, I would drive to it despite the inconvenience (distance). It's those traffic lights I have to go through just to get to this location. This is still my go-to store for bulk items, primarily for special occasions. Between Chula Vista Costco or Smart & Final, it would be a toss up. I have to be in the mood to shop at either. Nonetheless, Smart & Final is still good for many reasons (price, stock, quality, cleanliness, and less crowds) Dislike: parking is too small and tight to drive out and about at this location As for staff, nothing spectacular to note but they are readily available at the registers read more

Purchased 2 whole chickens that were on "sale" this week along with some green grapes and soups and cookies. However when I got home and had one chicken in the oven roasting, I reviewed my receipt.for some reason, the chicken showed manually weighed and the register picked up the price as the weight... so an my 4 lb chicken read as an 8 one and I paid over $8 each for both! I went back the next day with my receipt and one of the labels to show them and get a refund/credit. I was told by the cashier that she could only refund me the difference for 1 because I had to have the label! WTF?? It not my fault their system is faulty .... I was going to start shopping there more but very dissatisfied with the customer service at this location. Make sure you check your receipts on "sale" items to make sure you actually pay the sale price. Not sure who to contact regarding this error on their part... any suggestions are welcome! Love this location it's very convenient small size compared to other locations and fast check out. There are so many options available even in bulk for less. This store is fully stock and they even sell purple potatoes which is rare to find in this area. Customer service is friendly and efficient that there isn't a line despite lots of customers in the store. Great experience highly recommend a visit especially if your into purple potatoes. read more

Let me start off by saying that the cashier Danielle was amazing. She made my shopping experience great. Although she was the only cashier on a holiday weekend she did it an amazing job on controlling the line that went back down to the baking goods. When somebody did finally come to help her she looked irritated and not happy to be there not very welcoming. And another note ...... Yesterday, I visited this Smart and Final and was pleasantly surprised by the lovely atmosphere. Everyone who works here is friendly, helpful and kind. All of the food is very fresh and well organized. It's very easy to find things on the shelves because it is so neat and tidy. I want to mention one person in particular. Moses made my experience at this store very memorable and he has created a loyal customer for life. I was shopping for chips to eat with my sandwich and I like the crunch of chips but they are all too salty. I explained this to Moses and he helped me find the only kind there that do not have salt. I tried them today and they are wonderful. Later when I was checking out, Moses came back with another bag for me. He want to double check and confirm that I had selected the bag with the oldest expiration date so I had the very freshest chips there. I assumed Moses was the store manager due to his initiative, customer service and intelligence. He deserves recognition and praise for how he treats everyone at this store. This location is much smaller and cramped compared to other locations. The aisles are very close there and cluttered with extra displays that prevent even a two-way path of carts or even two people from walking. For the most part, the store is adequately stocked but I would just pay attention to the meats because I have seen a lot that had already gone bad and turned colors. Lastly, the checkout process was very tedious. The lines are almost always long and the cashiers aren't the quickest. Overall not a good experience. I would make the drive to another location before stopping at this one again. read more

Went in today at 10 a.m., more employees than customers. They all were busy restocking shelves. Meat, eggs,cheese, bread. I didn't need any TP, paper towels, or water. I asked if they had any chicken breast without ribs. A employee got 3 packages out, I only needed one. I Thanked her for saving me a trip to Costco. In this insanity I just want to tell all the employees Thank you for being there for all of us. I and others appreciate what you do. read more

This store will piss you off the first time you visit. Every so often, it gets busy and people usually go to S&F for a lot of big stuff. Once you start frequenting it, you'll realize that the staff is ON IT, and once a 3+ people line forms, they immediately enable another register. The employees are very nice and helpful! It's unpredictably busy, so plan accordingly. read more

I was buying eggs, flour, butter, & milk, for baking at my shop. but when i got to the cashier stand, the FIRST and ONLY thing the cashier said to me was " SORRY BUT OUR E.B.T machine is broken." with quite an attitude. uhm, OKAY. so you are judging by the way i look and the things that i am buying that i naturally would need to use EBT. i have never been so insulted. TSK. shame on you cashier. I will never come to this location again. I think management here needs to have a little talk with their employees and then give a quick lesson on customer service. I've accidentally bought several EXPIRED items at this main street location in Chula Vista. But what has concerned me and upset me even more is the store manager NOT WEARING A FACE MASK. I was just there yesterday December 15th at 6pm (review videos) the Hispanic male, 5'7 all in black, black hoodie, almost shaved head- HE NEVER WEARS A FACE MASK. This is regarding the Main Street Smart & Final in Chula Vista: We are consistently charged higher prices at checkout than the advertised price or the price on the shelf. We've never had it happen so often at other stores! Also the frozen products we've bought recently have freezer burn (even frozen vegetables), and the fresh meat we bought this week was rotten. I doubt I will be back, after being a regular shopper here for the last several years. read more

If you are thinking of shopping here, the cashiers somehow don't think it is important to greet you or say thank you, especially Maria G... I said thank you to her after she handed me my receipt and she STILL did not say anything in return, she just stared at me! Go to a different smart and final or shop at other retailers. I like this smart and final. The lines are usually pretty manageable and they carry a lot of products that I use for my business. They are a lot faster than Costco but don't have as many products. All in all a pretty solid four. read more

This Smart & Final is so rundown, there's trash everywhere in the parking lot and around the store. The lighting in the parking lot his awful it is very dark. And downright dangerous to go out by yourself. Why is this store so rundown when they are building new ones. It is darn right embarrassing to take family members from out of town to this smart and final. BE AWARE! They are not checking the foods expiration date. So people make sure you check the expiration date on your purchases. I wanted to purchase cottage cheese but to my surprise it expired on the day I wanted to purchase it. I said forget it! read more

Usually, our experience with S&F goes pretty smoothly, and we really like that the chain has many excellent products. But at this location, we have experienced a lot of rudeness- not from the employees, but from the manager. We noticed that for the past year or so, nearly all of the dairy we buy from this location goes bad within a few days... For a long time, we thought it was our fridge, and often said nothing. We were also a bit wary of calling S&F because the few times we tried to return something, the manager made it clear that he was not happy accepting returns. But recently, much of the dairy we buy is bad when *we get it home!* (As a side note, we have noticed recently that their dairy is sometimes sitting outside of the refrigerated area the whole time we're shopping. It makes us wonder how long it has been there.) But when you call the manager or bring it back, you get a lot of sneers and rudeness from the manager. In one instance, he blamed our refrigerator. (Even though we have never had a problem with *any* of the dairy from the local market down the street or from Costco. We also bought a fridge thermometer specifically because of this problem, and it says that our fridge maintains a temp of 36 degrees.) Our last visit, he went so far as to write the date on the new dairy we had to get to replace an item that was bad when we got it home, not-so-subtly hinting that we were trying to cheat them. I don't know if others have received spoiled goods and just haven't said anything to the manager, but *no one* should feel like they are being punished for having to return an item. (As a contrast, we have always had completely pleasant experiences the rare times we've had to return things to the local Costco.) S&F used to be the place we bought *all* of our dairy, but now, the high rate of spoilage, combined with the suspicious fact of items sitting outside of refrigerated areas, and the manager's open hostility towards those that are returning items, have convinced us that we will NEVER buy dairy there again. Like I said- as a rule, the S&F chain has good products at good prices. And other locations, like the Plaza Blvd. location and the Escondido location, have extremely helpful managers and employees (as well as freezer and dairy items that have NEVER been spoiled). But we have been badly burned by our experiences with the manager at this location. If there was a S&F that was any closer we would go to that location instead. read more

Main street is a smaller store - the service was very friendly and helpful. A product on sale was not on the shelf - asked a clerk for help, they brought out the last of the item. There were small lines at the registers, I was third in line, it would have been a short wait, but opened a new register. I asked them about product I've seen at the larger locations that they didn't stock and they said they would try to stock the item. Again very friendly and helpful. read more

First of all the rudest most Dis-respectful employees I have ever seen.First they take my cart away like i wasn't even alive then when I told them "that's my cart" they told me "Oh Sorry well get you another one" and they started taking my items out of my cart and putting them back on the shelves, Believe it or not that was nothing, as I'm walking up to the the cashier all I here from the fat cashier is "OMG another customer I just wanna go home already" , then he asks me "Are you buying chicken" and I tell him "yes" then he says "OMG I hate touching chicken gross" so I'm like "well I need to buy chicken", then another employee comes from behind me like a creep and asks me "are you the last person here we just wanna close", As the fat cashier scans my items all he's doing is complaining telling me "Ive been here since 1 I just wanna go home" so I pay and leave, So today I called the manager and he told me "yea sorry they get like that when its time to close". If the manager is giving me excuses no wonder why the employees are like that. I will be submitting a complaint to corporate and the BBB. I would give them -1000 stars if I could!!!!!!
