Very nice cupcake shop. I got the blue berry, red velvet and honey cake. All delicious and everyone was very friendly. I definitely recommend this place.
Love love love this place. The small cupcake style cakes are so good. Red velvet is my favorite. They also have several different ice cream flavors. On my next visit I will give it a try.
I ordered through door dash out of curiosity. Two cakes in a jar were of interest to me and one I planned to bring as a little gift for my spouse when I fly home tomorrow. I taste tested the two I thought looked good. I really love German chocolate cake on a good day. It did not disappoint. The second, wedding cake, tasted phenomenal on the very first bite. The frosting reminded me of marzipan. The problem is that I'm a super taster. There was a bitter aftertaste after a couple of bites. The whole bitter almonds thing. I know my spouse will eat it as they are not as sensitive, and almond is the flavor of their people. As my cousin is in town, I'm going to order a couple more to take home to California and we can jar cake taste test to taste the variety. This was really fun and the cakes made a great gift to take home. P.S. The carrot cake has the perfect cream cheese frosting to cake ratio. I'm taking two chocolate jars and will report back. Tasting these has been the most fun!
I stumbled by this spot while I was running errands. Was perfect for a Saturday splurge. I'm a fan of icing & they didn't disappoint. However, the cake was moist too. Was very clean inside. Though there were other customers, I was greeted right away. Trying to lose weight is my only reason I haven't returned.
I'm sick and my wife ordered me cupcakes tonight. Boy were these a treat. Soft, moist. Really heavy thick cupcakes. All the flavors tasted as the names, each one diff. Box was nice, none were messed up arriving to the house.
Exceeded my expectations!!! The cake turned out amazing and was a huge success!!! If you need a cake for any occasion look no further!
I got these for a birthday gift delivered by DoorDash. I got half dozen cupcakes. Flavors lemon, Oreo, red velvet, sprinkles and devils food with cream in the middle. I found they had to much frosting that was a tad sweet. The cake was moist and delicious, so I scraped off the icing. They are okay for occasional treat.
Absolutely love this place!!!! I crave these cupcakes so much, it's very unhealthy of me lol. But I enjoy them a lot and will continue to order from here. Cupcakes always taste fresh and delicious. I eat them, even when my delivery person, had turned the box upside downs, smh. My favorites are the chocolate and birthday cake cup cakes
This place is addictive! First of all, Customer Service is unmatched. I asked a LOT of questions & the server was so polite, and KNOWS the product. (which was very refreshing) I went in a Monday and got the Fudge Sunday flavor of the day and it tasted just like a fudge sundae and even had me wondering if there was a way to freeze it and indulge! The baker that ran the register was really sweet and got me signed up with rewards for this location. Being new to the area, and never trying small cakes, I picked a few options and raved about this place to others. This is really going to be one of those places where I will have to pace myself because honestly I want to try ALL the small cakes! The flavors are great and the cupcakes are soft and store well overnight and for a few days. Be on the lookout for more pics of me trying the small cakes but they exceeded my expectations on this classic dessert l! 5 stars is NOT enough!!!! *** JOB. WELL. DONE.!! Thank you guys!
When walking into this cupcake shoppe you must remind yourself that every baker starts with basically the same ingredients for cake, but some go the extra mile. This place does that! Therein lies the difference between gourmet cupcakes and ordinary ones. All cakes are sweet and to some degree, tasty, but from the brightly colored boutique boxes to the cupcake decorations.... the attention to lovely details is what makes these special. They have homemade ice cream and cakes in mason jars. You will have to decide for yourself if their treats are worth the premium price, but having visited Smallcakes, I can tell you that these three things are true: First, they had quite a reasonable amount of folks in and out on this Tuesday, on the second day of spring. Additionally, people were willing to part with four dollars per cupcake and nearly $15.50 for four. That's not cheap, so they must be doing something right. Finally, the vast array of choices means that everyone can get exactly what they like. They had wedding cakes, sundae cupcakes, brownies and even cannolis. Happily situated near a Starbucks, IKEA and Culver's.... There is a shared parking lot and they have a rewards program that is both painless and card-less to join.
Very cute and quaint bakery offering a variety of cupcakes and ice cream. I opted to get the Boston creme pie cupcake and it good, not as moist as I was expecting or wanting it to be, but still had good flavor nonetheless. I would go back and try other flavors. They have some permanent flavors and they rotate other flavors, so something for every tastebud.
We love Smallcakes! I almost always stop in after dinner at Pisces (best sushi in Mooresville!) The salted caramel and peanut butter cup are fam favorites. The weekly flavors are fun to try, too. Whatever you choose, it will be moist, flavorful, and topped with a generous heap of yummy frosting!
Nice little bakery in the area. Cupcakes are filling and super moist! Cookies come 3 in a pack and they were flavor packed as well . Would definitely return for something sweet in the near future . The decor inside is beautiful and chic . Little to go boxes are also really cool .
WOW WOW WOW!! They can take all my money! Hands down one of the best cupcakes i've ever had. Whenever we find ourselves near their store or if we see them listed as a vendor at an event we are for sure buying some. I don't know what the secret is but their cupcakes are pretty darn good. read more

I shared the cupcakes. They were very good. The location is a little bigger than the Steelcreek location. Overall the cashier and manager were so friendly, great customer at both locations. If you guys have not tried Smallcakes bakery yet, I encourage you to go to anyone of the locations whichever one your closest too!! I've only been to this location and Steelcreek because I was in the areas. Keep up the good work! read more
I was looking for a few cupcakes to celebrate my daughters 2nd birthday. I stumbled here after a quick yelp search. I was greeted upon entering and took a look at the displays. They had a good variety to choose from. I went with two birthday cake, cookies n cream and the daily special (caramel something). The cupcakes were moist and very tasty. My favorite was the specialty cupcake and my wife enjoyed the birthday cupcake the most. Each cupcake is $3.75 but they are bigger than normal. These are not you grocery variety cupcakes and worth a try! read more

Not only did I get a great cupcake, but they have a rewards program - and I'm here for it! Today I tried the apple pie cupcake. The cupcake was flavorful (like cinnamon & sugar) and moist. It was filled with the perfect amount of apple pie filling with a small amount on top. But the kicker was the caramel icing covered with nuts that made it A-amazing!! read more

For date night, we stopped by Pinky's and it was amazing. Inside the plaza was smallcakes, the inside was clean and quaint with simple decor. I ordered a total of four cakes and with no line, I was in and out in less than 5 minutes. I'm not a fan of buttercream however the chocolate and salted Carmel cupcake was pretty good! read more
I went to Smallcakes with my husband. The store looked clean and attractive on the inside with an array of delicious-looking cupcakes on display. We decided to share a peanut butter cup cupcake and a vanilla and chocolate cupcake. I LOVED the peanut butter cup cupcake!! The frosting was delicious even after I scraped 80% of it off. The vanilla and chocolate cupcake was just okay to me. If we visit again I'd try something different. They have many cupcakes to choose from, including some with filling on the inside. They're a little pricey though. Just over $8.00 for two cupcakes. So, this would be a place we'd visit to treat ourselves, and not a regular option. They do have a punch card that will get you a free cupcake after you've bought ten. All in all, a good experience but because of the price not a place I'd frequently visit. read more

Visit date January 25, 2019- CUPCAKES- they all look REALLY GOOD! I wanted to buy them all. Now they are kind of pricey. I wanted the Oreo cupcake but did not want the chocolate base, so they were able to change the base flavor. The cupcakes are good BUT ITS TOOOOO MUCH ICING. The base part was very moist. I did not even eat the icing it was just tooo much. Maybe next time I go back I will ask for one with less icing. ICE CREAM- they also have home made ice cream which is really good as well ( the flavors that I had). I have heard the red velvet is the best and they sell out of it fast. They was sold out and I was unable to taste it.... maybe next time. INSIDE- very clean and well kept. It's really cute inside and larger then what it look like from the outside. Large enough for a small together and even a birthday party or meeting. You even could study inside( I don't know if they have free WiFi) read more

I love this little shop! The cupcakes are delicious. The red velvet is my favorite but the birthday one is great as well. They also have ice cream which is perfect to pair with your cupcake. They have a special on Monday's for their cupcakes so I usually take advantage of that! They also have a party room in the back so you can learn to decorate your own cupcakes. Perfect for kids or adults! The service is always friendly and parking is convenient. read more

We decided to get something different this time at Small cakes but was completely disappointed. I ordered a red velvet milkshake and requested no whip cream. They filled it just over half way. I asked if they can fill it up, they said they usually put whipped cream to fill it up. How can you do this with good conscience when it was an expensive shake. You could at least filled it up as requested. Also customer service wasn't the best. They could have smiled when a customer walks in. read more

These cupcakes were pretty good. . Very moist cake even when eaten days after purchase. I'm not a fan of frosting and these didn't make me one which is why I deducted the star. Overall, I'd recommend. Wedding Cake was my fave of those tried. read more

Heard about Smallcakes from a lot of my clients suggesting that it was the best place for a sweet treat. So after my third client suggesting it (Power of 3) I had to stop by. The shop is so nice and has cupcakes displayed all over the counter. It seems they have cupcakes of the month so I got the Strawberry Margarita and the wedding cake (which both taste so amazing). Upon checking out, I noticed one AWESOME thing "fruity Peeples ice cream" which taste like heaven on earth!!!! I am a happy guy!! read more

Awesome place, great service! The folks behind the counter were quick to explain the flavors and make recommendations. The ice cream and cakes are delicious - some more decadent than others. Can't decide if you want ice cream or a cupcake? Why not get both! My husband and I got a smallcake smash which is a combo of both in a cup. So yummy! read more

Was in the area after leaving IKEA, just happened to see a cupcake place and me and my girlfriend was deciding what to eat and we kept seeing people leave out the cupcake place with the pink boxes so we decided it had to be good as much business they were getting. The place was nice and bright and smelled amazing when walking through the door. We were greeted with a smile and the person helped explain each cupcake and which ones were her favorite. She was very patient with me and my girlfriend because we could not decide which cupcake to get. I went with the cookies n cream and my girl went with the red velvet cupcake. The cup cakes presentation was just as good as it tasted. Very moist and hit the palate with loads of flavor. Nice sugar rush! Great place will return! read more

Where have you been all my life!!!! I'm a sucker for a good dessert and Smallcakes gave me what I needed. I'm always torn between red velvet and a traditional almond flavored cake of any kind. Today I purchased one of each since I knew I'd be back. The cake on the red velvet was so good. You can taste the hint of chocolate (as you should IMHO). I gave the red velvet an 8/10. Reason being is my taste buds want a true cream cheese icing taste with a cake that good and I tasted more vanilla. However, the Wedding Cake did not disappoint. 10 across the board. OMG a flavorgasm for sure. The almond was not overbearing but unbelievably awesome. I can't wait to come back and try all the other flavors. read more

I stopped by the Smallcakes shop in the University area. This was my first visit. I purchased two cupcakes one lemon for my son and the chocolate frosted vanilla cupcake. I contemplated over my selection and the dark chocolate cupcake with cream filling. The cashier said that the frosting on the vanilla cupcake was fudgy, rather than like a buttercream. The verdict...The cake was fresh, moist, and light. However, the frosting was sweet, not at all a fudgy consistency, and most definitely not chocolatey. Would I go there again? Maybe, but for something else. read more
