Delicious cupcakes with a neighborhood vibe. Despite being in a strip mall, Smallcakes Medallion feels like your neighborhood bakery. The decor is inviting and the staff is friendly. I stopped by on a weekend day and asked for recommendations to satisfy my little ones (4 and 2) sweet teeth. The woman behind the counter was happy to help. They have some good covid protocols in place and I did not feel unsafe at any time. I took away 4 cupcakes and all were devoured upon contact! I'd highly recommend checking out this place if you are into cup cakes and like the sweet stuff! They also have ice cream but I did not try any.
I came in on a Sunday afternoon to get two dozen cupcakes for an event. I had never been in before, and selected it because I had a hard time finding another bakery open on Sunday. The server greeted me warmly and was very helpful in answering my questions. They had an astounding array of cupcakes - 16 different flavors. I had planned on handing the cupcakes out to individuals at my event. I mentioned this to the server, and she offered to box up each individual cupcake and write the flavor on top. Everyone loved receiving a special box with a beautiful cupcake inside. What exceptional service! I tried the red velvet and the birthday cake. Both were very good. A little heavy on the frosting, which made it very sweet. But, with service like that, I will definitely be back.
First time trying this place out. Ordered delivery on Friday at around 11:30 AM. Strawberry Cupcake - Overall cupcake is heavy. Cake is very moist, dense, & heavy. Cream is dense & heavy also. Strawberry flavor is light, but evidently homemade & not from a box. Nice. Lemon Drop Cupcake - This cupcake is also heavy. Cake is drier than the strawberry, but not terribly dry - doesn't stick to your throat. Lemon cream & jelly is quite artificial tasting. Not a fan - there are better lemon cupcakes at other bakeries. Red Velvet Cupcake - Overall cupcake is heavy again. Cake is moist, but not as moist as the strawberry. Icing is very cream cheesy, but also more cheesecake-like flavor? Sweetness is mild - not as sweet as many other red velvet cakes a I've had, & the chocolate flavor is also mild. Underwhelmed. Wedding Cake Cupcake - Cupcake is heavy. Strange flavor. Not what I was expecting for "wedding" cake. Doesn't taste like any almond flavor I've ever had. Not sure what flavor it is...maybe toasted almond? Cake is a little...sour? Like mild sourdough? Not a fan. Would not recommend. At least the cake was moist. Overall, all cupcakes were quite heavy - both in actual weight feeling as well as in the stomach. I had about 2-3 bites of each of the four cupcakes & I was quite full after just tasting them. Not really what I was looking for in a cupcake since I typically like mine lighter. Flavors were pretty mild. Cake texture was mostly moist except the lemon & very dense. Cream was also quite dense. I'm not sure if I would recommend this place or go back. Nothing was spectacular, nor was anything outright bad. I might try it again in a few years...
Saw this cute little place on the way to target. So glad we gave it a shot. Ahhhhmazing! Literally the best cupcakes we have ever tasted. They are super moist and with outstanding flavor. We are going to go back as a treat each week until we have tried alll the flavors. The ice cream machine was broken so will have to try that out and give a review once we have it. We purchased a cupcake two chubbies and an cookie sandwich. The cupcake was so good we bought two more for after dinner tonight. You gotta check out this little gem.
The sweetest part of this establishment is not the product but, the people. The staff here has outstanding customer service. When I say "shop local" this is the type of business I am recommending. This small yet mighty local business has a wide variety of cupcakes and small cakes worth rebuying! From adult-friendly to comfort classics there's sure to be a moist, decadent, dessert to please any party.
I had a craving for something small and sweet near the house. Rather than hit the quick food stores, decided to try this place. It was early evening about 45 minutes before they closed. Plenty of parking and easy to find! Walking in, they have available cupcake flavors on display. I saw they also have ice cream, but I didn't see any flavors I wanted at that moment and to be honest, the remaining flavors of cupcakes didn't excite me. However, I was on a mission and had to make do. I opted for Chocoholic, a Hot Fudge and Peanut butter. The cakes on all 3 were chocolate. The icings were really good and the artisan effort was good for high volume. The cake portion was rich and full of deep chocolate flavor. Very moist! I really wanted a lemon variation and will have to comeback to see that one. Price is a tad high in my thoughts, but I almost never go to places to get cupcakes so I may not be right.
When my son was little, I always made him cupcakes for his birthday. Now that he moved to Texas, I have to be a bit more creative! This years I ordered his cupcakes from Cupcake Medallion and had them delivered on Uber Eats. He could not stop talking about these cupcakes so when I came for a visit, I checked them out for myself! These cupcakes are moist, full of flavor, perfect ratio of cake/frosting fantastic!!! Delicious cupcakes and a really cute shop. Totally worth stopping by daily for their flavor of the day!
My husband surprised me with the best cupcakes ever. I was so impressed I pre-ordered mini cupcakes and cake pops for my baby shower. The service is incredible. I reached out on Instagram and received a call back. The Lemon and Pink frosting were my favorite but I enjoyed every single one. Boston Cream, Red Velvet, Oreo, and Peanut Butter. Heaven. I can't say enough nice things and highly recommend.
My red velvet cupcake was delicious. The icing was perfect and rich. It was moist and flavorful. I am a fan and plan to visit again. It was clean and the clerk was friendly. I had a very pleasant experience. I love the personal to go box for my cupcake. Treat yourself to a tasty treat. I can say it was scrumptious and I am HAPPY!

I sent a FB message in a semi desperate plea to get my husband a bday cake. He made me promise not to make a big deal about his bday. Lol, I didn't pay attention. I'd already got him a bday present, but last minute decided I needed to get him a bday cake too. Hence the desperate FB message...and it was Sunday. They had just closed. I sent FBM thinking I'd get a call back in the morning. I was surprised to get an answer back almost right away. We agreed I'd call the next morning for some last minute ideas. I was rest assured they would help to figure out a fresh cake option. When I called Monday morning, I told SC-Medallion that my husband's all time favorite is Pineapple Upside Down Cake. I was thinking maybe they'd do a Pineapple icing design on a cupcake. Yet, Michelle told me they have their own version of Pineapple Upside Down cake, and that would be something they could do by the next day. I I picked it up next day, and I was THRILLED ! It was so cute! Perfect size for two. It could probably serve 4-6, but we were so glad to not have to share. While I was there, I couldn't resist the cupcakes. I'd bought cupcakes in the past to bring over to a cookout, and once for my dessert contribution to Thanksgiving. The turkey designs were a big hit. And the kiddos loved that they didn't have to eat pumpkin pie. Once adults starting helping, they were gone long before the pies! So, I got my husband a Red Velvet cupcake too. His 2nd favorite. I love how they package the cupcakes in a nice presentation box. Makes them look even more delectable. After bday candles were out, we cut into the cake. O-M-G SO GOOD. Inexplicably good. Hubby said the most perfectly moist cake he's ever had. We kept taking bites to taste the bits of candied pineapple, the icing that was just sweet enough with maybe hints of coconut. I usually scrape icing off cake, no this cake though. I was practically licking the plate so I didn't miss a single bit. The Red Velvet cupcake disappeared the next day. My husband loved it. The only problem is now he is asking when we can go by and try other flavors. It's almost bikini season!! And I know I won't be able to resist looking at those cupcakes....

Super cute cupcakes. The cake is very moist, great flavor and the portions are big (pictures don't do it justice). My favorites are the strawberry and chocolate cream. I've had these a few time ms and I'm never disappointed. Always fresh and tasty. read more

I placed an order using the website for Smallcakes Medallion. I ordered six cupcakes for $27. I received a text from the owner saying the pickup location had changed due to rent increases. She gave me her home address since she was using her second garage as her pickup location. When I picked up my order, it had six mini cupcakes-basically two bites. I could have bought them for $5.00 at Walmart. I wonder if the health inspector is aware of this garage pickup location? Does she have a license to operate a business in a residential neighborhood? We placed a new cupcake order at Smallcakes in McKinney. You can see the difference in the picture . I also included the pictures the owner sent me to find my order in her garage. The cupcakes she provided did not taste good at all. We ended up having to re-order from Smallcakes in McKinney. read more

I bought a dozen cupcakes here about 20 min before closing. I thought the selection by that point would be sparse, but to my surprise, almost all the flavors had at least 2 or more cupcakes still available. Cupcakes were certainly very pretty, but not as moist as I would've preferred. Maybe a little more butter in the batter would've helped? Flavor-wise, they were pretty good. Be careful about getting frosting and crumbs all over the place! read more

I can vouch for previous reviews, this place definitely feels like a mom/pops bakery. Always greeted with warmth and a smile when you come in. The cupcakes are huge and definitely sweet! One will do the job but who really buys just one? I always grab the puppy cupcakes for my dog when I come in. I love the thoughtful structure of the boxes to not ruin the cupcakes on your drive home. Recently ordered cupcakes for a gender reveal - while the cupcakes tasted great none of the insides were the pink that we ordered. In fact they were white just like the frosting on top. Pretty disappointed for our big reveal with family to bite into a cupcake with no color in the middle. These guys have been my go to for cupcakes for years but probably won't be coming back after this as that's a pretty big mess up to make. read more

Wow, what a great Lakewood area find. Amazing cupcakes, nice, moist and lots of icing and not overly priced at $3.75 a cupcake. They also have ice cream that they make there on location! I've passed by this place many times. I had heard many nice things about Smallcakes so I stopped in to get some cupcakes for a friend birthday. As you walk in the smell of fresh cake baking makes you want to try every cupcake. The Oreo cupcake was the best ever... deliciously double chocolate and very moist. Strawberry was just as good. I had Lunar New Year celebration coming up and asked if they could make cupcakes for the occasion. I told Michelle it was the year of the "Rat" and it was a custom to give red envelopes. She made the cutest cupcake ever!!! read more

I've been waiting for this cupcakery near my home to open for weeks now, and it was well worth the anticipation. I was greeted immediately and told about their daily cupcake flavors as well as their permanent menu items. All of the cupcakes were decorated and iced differently, which is a quality that I personally really enjoy. They also have an array of ice cream flavors that you can sample and freshly baked cookies made to turn into ice cream sandwiches (or frosting sandwiches), if your hungry heart so desires. The Chocolate Cream was okay, but not my favorite. It looked and tasted exactly like a gourmet version of the classic Hostess Chocolate Cupcake. Very cute, but I would have liked to see more cream on the inside. The Birthday Cake was my favorite of the two and I would order it again. The vanilla bean cake was very good and high quality. The buttercream frosting topped with a mountain of rainbow sprinkles was quite literally the icing on the cake. I do prefer a more home-made tasting buttercream without the artificial, hyper-sweet after-taste. The cupcakes were $3.75 each, so definitely on the pricier side. The decor of the restaurant is girly Texan chic. Cute place to grab a cupcake with/for friends, family, and kids. Just three stars for the cupcakes because I've had much tastier for a more competitive price point at places like Moonlight Cakes in Bedford, TX. Five stars for the outstanding customer service and charming atmosphere! read more

These are the best cupcakes!! They are so moist (I wish there was a better word!) and the staff is so friendly. We had arranged to host my nephew's 3rd birthday here and the kids had a blast decorating cupcakes and more importantly, eating the cupcakes. The employees were very patient and hands-on with our kiddos during the event. I decided tried the wedding cake cupcake and it was to die for. My boys also enjoyed the ice cream! read more

Mav and I were running around for work stuff on a Monday and decided to drop in for a quick snack. They had a nice variety of delicious looking cupcakes and ice cream flavors, so it made it a bit hard to choose. We had both eaten our fill of pastries in the last few days so we opted for ice cream. The Cookie Monster called my name with its bright blue color and two types of cookies. It was so good and the lady behind the counter was super friendly. If you can't decide on a flavor, they have little tasting spoons that will help! All ice cream and cupcakes are made in house from scratch. Prices were very reasonable and we even ended up buying some"Pupcakes" for our Peanut! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone craving something sweet. read more
