I was looking for a bar that had the El Clasico game on and to my amazement this bar not only was showing the game but it also had many fans of soccer there! Bartender was very pleasant and the beer selection was nice. I had the BB Burger with onion rings and I have to say it was one tasty burger! We found this place on Yelp and decided to try it out one night when we were town on the weekend. We were early enough on a Saturday evening that it was not overly crowded, but the bar/restaurant definitely had a good vibe with students, younger and older couples as well. We initially checked in with the hostess at Burger Batch, which has more of a small diner kind of feel and would have been fine, but we asked about sitting at the Small Batch Beer bar area next door and the hostess said that was fine and we just walked on over. Both locations (more like two rooms of the same location) served the same food (and I assume drinks). The burger I had was great, and my wife had a chicken sandwich that was very good as well. I liked their Red Ale as well. Instead of fries, we got the fried zucchini chips which were served crisp and hot and very good. We also splurged on two shakes which were the most extravagant milkshakes ever (see other reviews). It was an experience! We ate more than two people should, but it was fun. read more

This place is far too crowded and the first come, first serve policy is simply ineffective. If you have an hour long wait at 5:30pm, something has to change. Second, this is a bar. Those under 21 should NOT be allowed in the bar side. Keep them on the restaurant side, as they take up room for drinking customers. We got so frustrated that we ended up going all the way back to Greensboro where we had a far more enjoyable time. Such a pity. Small Batch was nice when it was an intimate, small experience. This is a neat place to eat. Burgers are fantastic. The milkshakes are a neat treat but I probably wouldn't get another. The stuff on the outside of the milkshake is good but the actual milkshake had very little flavor. The wait staff is very indifferent about serving you. It appears that they really have no idea how to run a restaurant. Go for the great burger but make sure you take a lot of patience. read more

Burger Batch is quite the place. Serving exceptional burgers and specialty milkshakes it is definitely an experience. I went during Winston Salem downtown appreciation week where different restaurants had certain deals going- Burger Batch's was get a milkshake and burger (and maybe fries?) for $20. Although their menu items are usually a bit more pricey than other burger joints, the food was very good! You can't come without getting a milkshake so definitely splurge a little. Overall yummy restaurant but make sure you come early on busy nights because it is relatively small. read more

Yeah, this is a cool place. I sampled all 12 beers on tap today and there wasn't a bad one among them. The Porter in the Rye was a standout while I was pleasantly surprised by The Beet Gose On and the Oak Aged Irish Red. Dicky Seamus Dry Irish Stout was very good also. Had the Korean Tacos as well and thought they were pretty good. Something different if the way if bar food and a little lighter as well. Te bartender. Ashly, was super nice. Food was good. However the turn around time is aprx 1 hr esp on Saturday's. Ask the waitress twice for the food. Was told it would be out in 5 min .... 20 min later we ask again. At this point I ask for the manager. A young lady came out and proceeded to argue with me. Not say she was sorry about our experience but make excuse after excuse. She even blamed the wait staff for not informing us it would be a hour wait??!! Seriously who would stay if they knew this. There wasn't even a wait. There were many empty barstools and several tables. This is concerning.... The manager did take 25% off our meal and gave the kids 2 milkshakes. Honestly the jury is still out on returning I Guess it depends on how much my son enjoyed it... oh and the kicker we went there for the Brussel sprouts and guess what??? After our hour plus wait they were out.... nice ... they did comp some cauliflower however we had came for the Brussels sprouts. The kitchen cannot handle crowds. Burgers were dry, overcooked, and overpriced. Fries were over-seasoned and cold. We make better burgers in our backyard! To make matters worse, the waitstaff was inattentive and frazzled by the crowd as well. The only positive of our hour and a half experience were the milkshakes. Was expecting great things here. Ordered the Blue Sky Burger - was cooked perfectly medium, bun was nicely grilled, toppings all good. No complaints, just nothing special. But for $14.50 (including tip) I had a burger and water. I'm actually still hungry. A $12 burger should be spectacular and should come with a side. The atmosphere was a bit strange also. Just a long, narrow white room. The noise level was so high that my friend and I had to almost shout across the table at one another to have a conversation. Not a pleasant atmosphere. Walked next door to Small Batch after we ate and oh my what a difference! Would have loved to have eaten there instead. Same food, MUCH better surroundings. Would like to say I'll do that next time, but I doubt I'll go back for a $12 burger. Having said that, it's doubtful they'll miss me - the place was packed and has been from the beginning. The beer is very good here. If everything had been on par with the beer, I would have given 4 stars. The decor is as dull as an Amish wardrobe. If you have to work with a long narrow space, you should at least put some decor on the walls. Second, hire people who enjoy their work and know about beer in a brew pub. Third, knowing that sometimes there are non-beer drinkers in a group, have a decent selection of wines. Fourth, the first review here was obviously written as a marketing piece and weakens the general impression of the place. read more

If I could give separate stars for service, creativity and execution - I would. As it is, 3 stars will have to do. I really think they are on to something here - they have great concepts for burgers, the shakes are pieces of art and the service for our visit was impeccable (shout out to JJ!) The execution is what needs more attention here. Kung Fu Cauliflower - GREAT idea! But the cauliflower needs to be blanched before breading and frying. The batter was nice and light, but couldn't hold up to the basically raw, dense cauliflower. The chili sauce on the cauliflower was AWESOME - but there was only a "smell" of it on there. Don't drench it, but you should know it is there. Zucchini however, was perfect. Just the right amount of coating, crispy and not greasy with a banging jalapeno ranch dipping sauce. DON'T CHANGE THIS! Sweet potatoe tots - meh. This may just be a personal preference. I love sweet potatoes, but these were just too sweet for me as a side for a savory burger. Maybe a savory sprinkle or a mix-in of a little chili powder or garlic to balance the sweet a bit more? The Comeback sauce is the bomb - best sauce I tried on this visit - tons of flavor! Shakes? Mic drop - 'nuff said. Super creative and just gorgeous! Ok, ok - what about the burgers? For all the reviews, I have to say I was disappointed. The main issue was the very inconsistent cooking. Our friends ordered their's both medium rare - one was medium, the other was medium well. We ordered ours both medium well. My husband's was well and mine was, well, just dead - "kilt" from over cooking. If this is your focus, consistent and correct cooking of the meat is paramount. And if you are going to use pork belly, you have to know how to treat it. Delicious idea, but when the meat portion is so tough you cannot bite through it and you demolish your burger trying to extract it, more attention is needed for it's preparation. So, will I go again? Yes - it is important to support our small local businesses, I want this place to do well and again, I love their creativity. But...I currently recommend with reservations and won't continue to frequent if my $12 burger is not cooked correctly the next time. read more

Not worth the price tag. The burgers are fun and creative and served in cute little frying pans, but they are all $12 and do not come with a side. They aren't huge or especially delicious, so the price should be more around $8-9 even with all the fun toppings. Fries and other sides are around $4 so all in its $16 for an eh burger and a side of fries. I would have been much happier paying $10-12 for what we got. The 241 burger was ok, smothered in beer cheese which looked awesome but it was cold and not as yummy as I'd hoped. The morning after was pretty tasty! Cluck Norris had a nice piece of chicken on it. The onion rings and Brussels were very good! We didn't get a milkshake but they look amazing and seem worth the $9. All in if you want a great burger go to Bad Daddys. They're cheaper and much tastier! If you want a neat environment and local experience give this a try. read more

I just wanted to tell you about the experience I had last Sunday. I arrived with seven friends around 12:30 we were told they would be a 35 minute wait. That was fine. We waited at least an hour. While one table sat empty and the table beside it had people who had finished their meal and already their to go boxes on the table. But they didn't have their check. The hostess was very nice and she was doing the best she could. We finally sat down and were waited on quickly and our drink order was taken. Our meal order was taken pretty quickly as well. We then waited an hour for our food. There was a table of two people who ordered after us and got their food first & finished eating while we were still waiting. We did not have anyone wait on us the whole time we were waiting for our food. Finally after almost an hour our drinks were refilled. We can only imagine that there was only one person working in the kitchen. We ended up being at your place two & half hours. Of course none of us had planned on spending that much time there.The only positive thing we can say is that the food was very, very good. Everyone enjoyed their meal. But had not been that we were there for a birthday, we absolutely would have gotten up and left. This was the first visit there for all eight of us. I would like to think about trying it again sometime, but honestly I can't imagine taking the risk that we would have such horrible service again. I just wonder was this an anomaly today? This place was so tasty at lunch that I went back for dinner. I had their superfood salad, which was lovely, and a burger at dinner. Everything was delicious. Burgers were just okay and the milkshakes were a bit overdone for my taste and a definitely overpriced. I also got my $9 shake to go after finishing dinner but accidentally left it on the table. When I came back approximately 5 minutes later the waiter (with a smirk on his face) told me that he already threw it away and he didn't even offer to make me a new one. The beer was excellent. I really enjoyed the Keggnog porter. It was rich with only a hint of Christmas spices and egg nog. It wasn't like those over-the-top spiced seasonals that ware on you after a few gulps. We actually went for lunch right after they opened and had some very solid food. Why does the place have 3 1/2 stars? I don't know what is wrong with people these days?!? Burger Batch was great when I last went a couple weeks ago. The service was nice (our waiter was really funny). Our appetizer (Zucchini Chip) & the burgers came out rather quickly. My burger was excellent, and so were the fries! I was ate the whole burger (which filled me up) and then I got a milkshake! I had the "It's A Surprise" milkshake! It was cake flavored in a glass decorated by a slice of cake & some cotton candy, lined with sprinkles & icing around the rim. The only thing that I wish that Burger Batch would change is the amount of actual milkshake. What I'm saying is that I want more MILKSHAKE, because that cake flavor was AMAZING! The burgers are very good, thick and very flavorful. The sides are a little weak, both on portion size and flavor, specifically the fries. I usually get takeout and both their regular and loaded fries left us a little dissatisfied. However, the Winston and morning after burgers were both phenomenal. The morning after burger was probably the first burger I've had in which the egg added flavor and not just a mess. Definitely will be going back. read more

Very hip place. We were met immediately with friendly staff as well as a shout out from the bar. The food was good. We'd been warned to order our milkshakes early (by friends) as they can get backed up. It wasn't crowded, but we ordered them early anyway. Turns out we didn't need to, as the milkshakes arrived just prior to our food. The place filled up quickly, so we were glad we arrived on the early side of lunch. The milkshakes were fabulous and one of them truly had a whole piece of cake on top. I'm stopping at 4 stars because we found the music to be not only loud but also on the irritating side. I have kids, 14 & 16, and they actually agreed. I can listen to most anything, or so I thought. I looked around and the patrons looked to be our age, some older, all tolerating the music. It's located just up the street from where we are living temporarily. I will definitely go back, however if the same style music is playing and that loud, I will not stay. read more

On a busy Saturday night we waited well over an hour to eat food that was just fine. The menu is unique but the payoff is weak. The chef does not appear to know the difference between caramelized onions--which is what's promised--and lightly sautéed onions. The burger was cooked as ordered but the beef had little flavor and the bun was unremarkable, overwhelming the patty. We opted for sweet potato tater tots which were equally fine. The ambience is unpleasant with no sound dampening to control the cacophony and the decor being rather plain but not in a hip, modern, clean way. I could deal with a place too loud to hold a conversation if the food were spectacular. It's not. The real reason to come is for the milkshakes which are ridiculous; like if P.T. Barnum created milkshakes. We tried the Cereal Killer and the S'mores shakes. They were quite the spectacle, dripping with whipped cream and various cereals (both of them). But, ultimately, you still gotta eat the thing. This is challenging as the accoutrements teeter on top of some milkshake somewhere below. They are good but not so incredible that I'd indulge very often. Particularly at $9 apiece. There's another local burger and shake place with shakes that sing a siren song when I drive past. I'll return at a less busy time and try some other things on the interesting menu, but I'm skeptical that I'll become a regular. read more
