A lovely evening at Foothills, we arrived during "movie night" on the weekend. A lot of people in lawn chairs in the parking lot watching a big screen that might possibly have been showing, and I'm not kidding here, cat videos. Over 100 people out there for that. We were inside where there was a live band playing loudly, some comfy seats in the back gave us some distance and enough quiet to be able to hold a conversation. I enjoyed a Foothills Torch Pilsner and it was awesome. Mrs. K., who doesn't drink alcohol, thoroughly enjoyed one of their Little Frees hemp-infused sparkling water. Love coming here. There's always good beer and wine with a friendly atmosphere and weekend music. Its a fairly big place where they brew their own beer. Their brews are delicious! Ask for a taste or order your fave. They are happy to oblige. This weekend night I ordered a dark Chocolate stout aged in a Buffalo Trace cask. Very dark chocolaty taste and smooth as can be. My friend ordered a blackberry cider which was good as well. If you work up a sweat after dancing to the music just step out to the patio for a breath of fresh air or enjoy the fire pits on the patio during the colder months. My wife saw the Foothills Tasting Room was having an event this past Sunday afternoon and we thought we would check it out. We drove down the street where Foothills Tasing Room is located. There were quite a few vehicles parked up and down the street but we were able to find a spot relatively quickly. Upon getting out of the car we could hear the live music and saw quite a few tents set up for the vendors and a few food trucks. We decided to go into the tasting room first and order a cold beer. I enjoy a good IPA and was able to order a pint while we continued to explore. The tasting room itself is really nice and set up well. Even though they were very busy they seemed to have adequate staffing and an area to purchase swag, beer and also food from their food mobile. The other food trucks at this event were independent and orders needed to be placed directly at the food truck. The live music on the patio was nice and people were able to listen and enjoy the beautiful fall day. We wandered through the vendor tents and purchased a couple of things, they had a good variety of vendors. We were also impressed to see their calendar of events and plan to visit again very soon! read more

Fun atmosphere, nice folks, good food - what more could you want?? The tasting room is definitely worth a visit! My friends and came out to the tasting room for their Saturday "Yogammunity" event that they do - it was great! It's $10 for the class and free beer at the end. We ended up getting lunch from their Footmobile food truck. Food was classic bar food and was good! Generous portions but there was nothing exceptional about it though everything came out hot and tasty. The pretzel "bites" (torn up pretzel pieces) did get hard when they got cold and the cheese was definitely fake (which some do prefer). I come here usually when there are craft fair events, as it's a bit of a drive for me. I love the beer here. The Torch Pilsner is my go to. We met our dog at an adoption event here years ago so it definitely holds a special place in my heart. FYI: Right now there are no samples, flights or growlers. While this is more of a production facility for foothills (the original bar and restaurant are downtown), this one has a really nice taproom area with all of the foothills favorites and some wine. This is the first brewery I've visited since moving to Winston and I loved it. The beer was great. The food truck was also delicious. I think when it comes to tasting rooms, atmosphere is a must. Foothills delivers there as well. As a craft beer enthusiast, I always try to get some type of swag at the breweries I visit. Out of all of the breweries I've visited, and it's a lot, Foothills has the most appropriate priced swag. I was blown away by the prices. $10 T-Shirts and glasses less than $10! I've been to Foothills Brewing Tasting room a few times now and they do not disappoint! The brewery team members are incredibly friendly and helpful in selecting brews. Torch Pilsner and Thousand Smilea are great beers on the lighter side. The atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable, and it is child and dog friendly. The entry patio has comfortable outdoor seating with two gas fire features for a little warmth on chillier evenings. They do have live music from time to time, and their Facebook page seems to be up-to-date with music and food truck schedules. This is easily mine if my favorite places in a Winston. read more

This looks like a fun place! I happened to stop by with my dad during the day on a Friday, so it was super quiet. Given the time of year, the outside area wasn't open, but to be expected. The inside is super cool, with lots to do. We had a flight and a pint, and they were pretty good. I'm from the northeast, so I'm spoiled by great beer, so I have high standards when it comes to that. Foothills tasting room has one of the nicest staffs I have ever come across. I have been there for several large events and the staff has never been anything but amazingly friendly and professional- and these were big events, lots of people. They did and have done an outstanding job on every visit we have had. Speaking of events this place is great for posting their events and goings on on social media, so be sure to like their page to keep up. They offer everything from a running club, to trivia, to brewery tours to daily food trucks. They also host larger events such as Oktoberfest, various Pet Adoption outreach events, Hop Swap and other great activities. You'd be hard pressed to find a month where they didn't have something big going on. While they don't offer food, again, they do usually have a food truck on site and you can find the schedule of trucks on Facebook and their website. They are also very diligent about keeping their tap list current on their website. They do offer the amazing Foothills beers- usually at least 12 with special weekend Randall's to boot and limited edition brews like their Project IPA series- what's not to like? It's a great space with both indoor and outdoor seating. It is one of our top 5 places in WS to grab a beer and eat off a food truck. At $7.99 it seems like a great money deal! Top picks were People's Cherry Porter which was barrel aged and really enjoyed the Woodland IPA - crisp , a bit hoppy and very refreshing. We bought a glass for $6 each. Only 4 star cuz I have an issue with being charged for a "splash taste" at $1.50 - thinking that was a bit much - usually gratis where I am from (Nashville) as long as it is not abused (we had 1 and then bought the beer we tasted). The 3 of us (wifey, Sunshine our chocolate lab and I) highly recommend Foothill Brewery - friendly staff and very neighborhood feel on a rainy Tuesday evening. Tip ***. They do a lot of great events at this location like trivia on Monday, Bingo on Tuesday's, food soldiers run club on Wednesday's, corn hole on Thursday's, live music on Friday and yoga on Saturday's. There's also always a great food truck out front too. My husband and I came to the run club on a weekly basis when we lived at the apartments across Stratford and loved it. All of the events they have here have created a great community feel! My husband and I enjoy the Foothills Tasting Room to commune with canines and do varied events. This weekend we attended the Harry Potter birthday party. I think it might have been better organized. We were waiting for the trivia contest, yet no one announced it. After it was well underway, we saw a group of people gathered in the vat room. They could do a lot more with this event if they wanted. Dress up a little or designate an emcee. The Foot mobile requires that you use their QR code on your phone, yet the inside bar doesn't require that. I understand food trucks not wanting to handle money, but if your phone isn't working or you just didn't bring it for not wanting it on your off time, you can't place an order at the Foot mobile even if they aren't busy. This is my favorite brewery in Winston Salem. They always have something new on tap but never get rid of the favorites. The decor is fun, comfortable and welcoming. Came here with a non wedding party to wait out the preparations before seeing our friends get hitched. They were having an Oktoberfest that afternoon and we came right as they opened to beat the crowds. No food besides the food trucks which on that day served "craft" hot dogs. I did not have any but they looked good. I tried the Amber Ale and the People's Porter. The ale was pretty good, but I was not a fan of the porter. It was almost as bitter as an IPA to me. I do not like IPA's at all and since that is the majority of their offerings it isn't a surprise that there was some bitterness in their other beers. I bought the plastic stein for $10 including a drink ticket and the stick was already coming off. They also did not fill it all the way up, but that's just me nitpicking. I dig the vibe and according to locals the breweries in the area are pretty new and helping lead to a redevelopment of the area, which I am all for. I would come back if I was ever back in the area, I just long for the days when IPA's aren't cool anymore and all places carried more Belgian style Witbeers and Ale's. read more

For you beer nerds, this is old news, but for the casual beer drinker, you may be wondering why that bottle of Carolina Blonde has a Foothills stamp on it. Back in 2011 Foothills acquired the beer division of Carolina Beer & Beverage (in Mooreseville - still there by LKN Brewing), which includes Carolina Blonde and Cottonwood Ales. Foothills has some amazing flagship beers which has helped them build an empire. You've probably heard of Torch Pilsner, the People's Porter, Hoppyum IPA, Pilot Mountain Pale or Sexual Chocolate Imperial Stout. Really enjoyed my trip to the tap room. Large outdoor space with patio couches. Inside is open air with roll up doors. The best part is that most pints are only $4. As luck would have it, Foothills made an off season batch of Frostbite Black IPA - very nice beer - maybe a little sweeter and maltier than I like my black IPAs - but still solid. Also very kid friendly. They have a run club and a yoga club that includes a pint in the class fee. read more

I like this Foothills location. It is easy to park as there is a private lot and you dont have to drive around looking for a space like at the downtown location. They have the the same beers (or at least I think that they do) and you can spread out inside or take a seat on the patio. People were even playing corn hole in the parking lot. The only thing is that there isn't a kitchen there that would allow chef Shane to create one of his famous "Shanewiches". But there actually are back of snacks like popcorn and snack mix as well as some local made jerky, so food that is good snacking with a brew or two. The Oktoberfest is on draft now so i enjoyed a pint of that, and I also tried the new imperial Stout "Dead - Berried" A bourbon barrel aged blackberry Imperial Stout. It is served in the smaller glass, because it is a heavy bodied higher alcohol beer, but it is damn good! I'm glad they opened this location. I loved the easy on and off location, off the Hanes Mall exit! This will be my new go to when I meet people in the Winston-Salem area. I really enjoy foothills beer and they of course have ones you can only get at their brewery. Along with their beers they also carry a few wines, ciders and non alcoholic options for the non-beer drinkers in your group. They have a nice outside seating area and a good size parking lot.
