Stopped in here to try another place we haven't near our area. Food - We started with the smack buns which were ok, the pork was dry. I ordered a Thai tea with boba and it was good, a bit on the sugary side. Both me and my bf got the tonkotsu ramen, which was quite the taste. First the broth was extremely salty, which was disappointing because this tonkotsu had the correct richness and texture, but sooo salty. The fried onions as a topping is also interesting, but they become super soggy in just a few minutes which becomes texturally displeasing. The egg was not as marinated as I'd like it to be, I've had better at other places. The noodles were ok, not bouncy, just like average to us. Overall the ramen was a bit of a hot mess, we ate it all, but the saltiness really killed this dish. Service - fast, also nice as well they were busy flipping tables out for more people coming in. Ambiance - didn't get much of a feel for it since we had a window seat but it was very crowded. Ramen was 2.5/5, and we don't plan on going back due to the off-balance of saltiness in their tonkotsu.

I decided to eat at Smack Noodle as a last minute date night. Since it was a beautiful night, we opted to sit outside, which has a handful of sidewalk-side tables. It was a nice experience - a quiet dining experience while being able to people watch the going's-on of downtown. The staff was very welcoming and attentive (but not overly so). I was also pleasantly surprised to see that our food came out quickly after ordering. We ordered the smack buns and brussel sprouts to share. The buns were tasty and I would order them again. The brussel sprouts were deliciously salty and incredibly crispy. I ordered the crazy noodles with tofu. They had a strong kick in the best way and the tofu was perfectly textured. This was a large portion so I was able to take home leftovers for a second meal. My fiancé ordered the spicy miso ramen which he found to be tasty with a good level of spice. All in all, we are happy to have found and support a small business and will be back to try more of the menu in the future!

The Tonkotsu was rich and flavorful, and the bun was soft and delicious. Definitely coming back for more!

Smack Noodle is on Main Street along with many other restaurants and shops. I came on a weekend for lunch with a group of friends. We got seating outside on the patio and I ordered a pork bao bun and miso ramen. The service was great, but I wasn't impressed with the food. The pork bao was soft, but nothing special. The ramen was lackluster in both the broth and noodles. On the positive side, plenty of corn and a great soft boiled egg. Overall, not the best ramen, but they do serve other dishes you could try out.

Oh friends...this place is special. The food was incredible and the family that runs it make you feel so welcome. They only have a few tables, and it was packed for weekend lunch. The food came out quickly and was served piping hot. Scallion pancakes were light and crispy. Crazy noodles was a bowl full of spicy goodness. They were really nice about scaling back on the spicy level for me so it was not atomic. Lots of veggies included and you can get it with tofu, beef, or chicken. Fried rice was delicious as well. If I lived closer, I would be a regular here for sure.

For a tiny place in an unassuming town, this restaurant packs big flavors! True to its name, the place offers up excellent noodle dishes. I love their crazy noodles. The dish is unapologetically spicy and has a lot of bold flavors. Once I had it with beef and my only disappointment is that the beef was on the dry side. Their ramen is wonderfully rich. And their curry is fantastic. The pork buns were packed with tender pork balanced with thinly sliced carrots and a robust sauce. The menu isn't huge, but they are consistently good which I prefer. Do just a few things and do them well. The staff is always very friendly and efficient. The restaurant is small; seats 7 or 8 parties, so there could be a wait on weekends.

Surprise find in Maynard after visiting the Discovery Museum. Smack shack, tonkotsu ramen and pad see ew with tofu were good. Pad thai was too sweet for my taste. My friends preferred the tonkotsu ramen over the miso ramen. Friendly service and food came out quickly. Small seating area inside and some seating outside too.

A small restaurant with quality food. Their Udon basil noodles is a family favourite. Can likely with spicy than medium spicy for folks who are used to Indian spice palette. Quick service. Large quantities. Should try other items at this place.

This place is awesome and everyone is super nice! I got the spicy sake roll, smack bun (not pictured) and crazy noodle. The spicy sake roll is exactly as advertised. The smack bun was TO. DIE. FOR. Who doesn't love a sweet fluffy bun with crispy and flavorful insides?! The crazy noodle was pretty spicy but had a really good flavor to it. I almost ordered a side of rice before noticing that the flat noodles were in fact not onion. Parking was easy - at a metered spot right out front on a Wednesday night, inside and outdoor seating, and overall just super fun and delicious!

I read a lot of good reviews about this place and tried their take out for the first time. It was AWESOME! We are Vegetarians and don't eat eggs. I was able to select Vegetables and Tofu for all Entrees and topped it with vegetable Gyoza appetizer. The food was ready on time for pickup. The Basil Udon and Garlic Udon noodles were a big hit with the kids. Cant wait to try their food again. read more

This was a favorite lunch spot for me BC (before Corona), but it's also turned into a favorite delivery during Corona restaurant. Everything is great, the food, the portions, the service, and the prices.. My favorite is the spicy miso ramen. The food is addictive, like smack, especially the smack buns, crispy brussels and crispy chicken. I also love that they will make anything vegetarian, no problem. read more

I've tried many many ramen places in Massachusetts and Smack Noodle will forever be my favorite. It has the perfect balance of noodle texture, broth flavor, spiciness and deliciousness. Smack noodle is exactly what downtown Maynard needed. Great staff and even better food. They have the ramen game absolutely locked down. The food is unique and most importantly consistent. Best restaurant in Maynard. speedy service even when they are slammed, very friendly staff, and excellent food. My only complaint is that they are closed mondays and some mondays I could really use some Smack Noodle! Whether you get Ramen, Stir Fried Noodles, or Curry you will be pleased, though I'm partial to the Pad Thai. Takoyaki is a must try. Only place in the area with Calamari and they do it justice. Thai Iced Tea is also really good. read more

I had the lucky opportunity to work here for a day to sub in for one of my friends so I know what goes in behind the scenes in the kitchen. All of the staff members are arduous workers and they put so much passion into cooking their food. From the pork buns to the ramen, everything is cooked with care and perfection so it's always going to taste good. I've never had chicken that's put on a smile on my face like this. Seriously, the chicken is so crispy and makes my mouth water when I think of it. The noodles have the right texture which makes them so addicting. The dish has a kick of spiciness so beware of that if you are weak to hot foods. I would highly recommend eating at the restaurant as the noodles come fresh out of the boiler. I know the space is limited so I hope the facility gets to expand their space soon and make more room for people. On a Friday night, you should make reservations beforehand because it fills up quick! read more

Smack noodle was recommended to us so we came to try it, I had the veggie gyoza and the crazy noodle. The gyoza was good and I really enjoyed the noodles. They were spicy but not too overpowering and the servings were huge most people were taking away their leftovers. It's not a very large place with only a few tables but it wasn't too crowded when we were there so we got right in. read more

Decided to give this new place a chance. Well...it was a bit rough. Ordered takeout and had to stand in the middle of the restaurant, feeling completely in the way of the staff and other customers, but there was literally no other option. Not sure what was worth, watching kids roll all over the floor while clueless parents sat waiting for tables or actually eating the food. Not sure how they mixed bland and mouth burning spice, but they did. To be fair, it's new and perhaps still finding the right groove. We will try again, hopefully, if I can talk my family into it. We found this gem shortly after it opened. Our go-to order is miso ramen and pad Thai, and--if we are feeling indulgent--crispy brussel sprouts and shumai or gyoza. All top-notch. The shumai is the largest and maybe the tastiest I've ever had. The pad Thai is really the crowing glory of this establishment. I've eaten a LOT of pad Thai all over Thailand (I lived there for a couple of years), and this is by far the most authentic and delicious I've found outside of Thailand, and closely matches the flavor of my favorite two street food stalls I went to regularly after work. They have all of what your looking for (feed your fix) = tobacco, lottery, sugar, caffeine - they got it all man! Every time I've been in here the people behind the counter have been very nice, they all seem to be enjoying what they are doing. I think it's the fact that they get to laugh and make fun of all less than sober people that come in (whatever the choice of inebriation is) - at least that's been my experience so far. All in all this is the place if you need something after 10pm in this area at least - thank you 7/11.

I had a Cesar salad that had chunks of the ends of the lettuce - annoying. And whatever seasoning that was on the chicken didn't go with the vibe of the salad and was dry as a bone. My friend ordered seared scallops which came thrown on top of a cartoon like pile of fries. She didn't have time to complain because the waitress was out to ask us how it was before we had a bite (the runner brought the food). When she finally came back to ask if we needed boxes - my friend explained the issues with the inedible scallops. The waitress said the owner was there and would come talk to us. The owner didn't come out, a manager never came, and the waitress dropped the bill off and walked away. She came back with the machine to run cards - no apology, no please come back another time ... nothing. I am from Maynard and was embarrassed that this is what happened.

I stopped by Family Delicatessen on a Saturday and ordered the Green Goddess, a vegetarian option with hummus, avocado, apple, and lots of veggies. I will give them credit: they did not skimp on the veggies! However, there was not a whole lot of hummus or avocado so it kind of just tasted like eating veggies on a piece of baguette. A very good piece of baguette, to be fair, but I just wish there had been a little more flavor. The deli itself is very cute with lots of imported Italian foods, like unique pastas and sauces. Service was speedy and super friendly. I definitely need to go back to give them another chance!

Their pad thai really hits the spot, especially with shrimp and chicken in there and peanut sauce of course. At my last visit, I went for the spicy cashews and vegetables with beef and rice, which was wonderful with many pieces of beef. I like to sometimes test myself with spicy foods to see what I can handle, which probably isn't a great deal, but this one was manageable and there were plenty of flavors in general. The atmosphere is nice and calming, it's never too loud or busy when I've been there. The service is very good but they also do takeout if that's what you need. So for tried and true, consistently great Thai food, check out the Maynard mainstay Siam Village.

Although we could have ordered from our table there we ordered pizza ahead to pick up at 5:15: A 10" Veggie Supreme with a couple extras. The ordering process, although on line, was easy providing room for personal needs or requests and the communication was thorough. Arriving in a snow storm we were relieved to find the Maynard Pizza & Bar directly across the street from The Sanctuary. The pizza was ready and still hot on time but the piece-de-resistance was when we raised the lid on the heavy duty pizza box. Our eyes popped at the mountain of ingredients. The sweet smells and rich flavors attested to the freshness of all the ingredients. We were glad we hadn't ordered the 16". Just don't forget the forks and napkins next time. Combined with the free performance at the Sanctuary, the under $20 pizza, and a beer at the Sanctuary, it was a perfect, fulFILLing and gratifyingly inexpensive evening out. Rare these days. Miso Ramen is rich and unctuous, noodles perfectly snappy. Spicy Tonkotsu has an immensely porky flavor with a nice attack of heat. Takoyaki octopus balls are an umami A-bomb - served with a kewpie mayo sauce and a confetti of shaved Bonito. Bao sandwich with pork perfectly warm and soft (I could rip through a whole basket of them). But the star here is the ramen - bar none. Just your standard bottled green tea, water and sparkling for beverage choices. So grab some Pellegrino, sit down, and slurp up a seriously good bowl of Ramen here in Maynard Center.
