I picked up food here on a weekday. They have a good amount of indoor seating. The take out food is well-packed for travel. My food was ready on time. I got the Major Munch size, which is the second smallest of the four sizes. I thought that was a great amount of food for one person. It's a good amount of food at a good price and a fun concept. It's not the most extraordinary Mac and cheese in the world, but it'd be a fun place to go with friends. read more

The restaurant was quite empty when we visited, and I was a little confused about how to place our order. A staff member pointed us toward the self-checkout kiosk at the front of the restaurant, but I was also unsure how to pay with a credit card. Thankfully, he was very helpful and walked me through the process. I absolutely love the concept of offering small samplers of different mac and cheese flavors. The mac and cheese flights are such a fun idea and a great way to try a variety of flavors! Not every flavor was my favorite, but there were several that I really enjoyed. The fig mac and cheese was probably my least favorite. I didn't think the fig paired well with the dish. Usually, fig and Brie are a great combination, but this particular pairing just didn't work for me. The cheeseburger, Cajun, 4-cheese, and Alpine flavors were delicious! The mac and cheese also had bits of thick-cut bacon, which I absolutely loved. Everything was very cheesy and filling, and the cream soda was the perfect drink to wash it all down. read more

A friend suggested this spot, who loves the place. Came here for dinner. We ended up getting the Alpine and Buffalo Chicken in the Major Munch size. The Mac n cheese came hot and on a skillet. The cheese crust on top gave it a nice crunchy texture, very cheesy. The blue cheese on the buffalo chicken wasn't too strong tasting. I do want to mention, the Major Munch size can feed two people. It's a lot of food. I love Mac n cheese and usually get it all the time as a side but having it as a main dish was a nice switch up. If you're in the mood for Mac n cheese, I highly recommend. Just keep in mind that it's heavy. * Get extra breadcrumbs read more

I can confirm S'mac still has it going on. Really nothing much has changed. The interior takes me back to my college years, it's still orange hued and woodsy, but now there's self ordering kiosks! Choose your size and your flavor option. If you're feeling bold, create your own combination. And in a few minutes you'll be delivered crusty, cheesy, goodness. I ordered the alpine, which came with mushroom, rosemary and fig pieces and left satisfied. The figs added a nice sweetness. The mushroom cut through the richness, but there was still plenty of cheese for that cheese pull. Truthfully I couldn't even finish the small size, because it was so much. But still, S'mac scratches that nostalgic itch of food that still hits after all these years. read more

Unfortunately I don't have many pictures of this little corner spot. My kid and I decided to grab some mac n cheese after our long ass day in the city before heading home. This place did not disappoint- it's really not the spot for sit down and dine in - if i had pictures you'd see why. However the mac was bomb and a great serving size for the both of us. I added some grilled chicken to it for the sake of protein. You place your order at the kiosk and wait - food was out in less than 10 minutes. I definitely recommend this spot and i will be revisiting. Next time i will take some pics of inside. read more

I found this place because I literally searched for "Mac and cheese" as I was craving my favorite food! There's a similar concept in Houston, so I was thrilled to find a new Mac-and-cheese-devoted restaurant in my new city!! When I arrived, it was almost 3pm so the restaurant was pretty empty, although it actually started to pick up a bit by the time I left. You order directly from a kiosk and you'll pick a table number so that they can bring it to you as soon as it's ready. I did a build-your-own option as I'm vegetarian and also wanted a specific flavor due to being a cheese snob. The Mac came out quick, piping hot and oh so fresh! It's served in its own little skillet, which helps keep it warm and is also just really cute. It was sooo delicious!! I combined gruyere with Munster cheese, added spinach and garlic then topped it with bread crumbs. Mmm mmm MMM! Also, they have a water dispenser near the entrance to the kitchen! I was happy that flavored sparkling water was sold here as I don't drink sodas, but I also snagged some free water while I was at it. Since summer is here, just know that they don't seem to have AC here! The restaurant was very open-concept. I chose to sit near a fan and the open "window" area in order to enjoy a breeze along with my meal. read more

I'm not the biggest mac and cheese fan but S'mac is a game-changer. The Masala did not hold back on the spices. So much flavor that adds depth to plain ol' mac and cheese. The Buffalo Chicken is packed with chicken pieces and plenty saucy. Honestly, a "nosh" was plenty enough for me since it is a very heavy and loaded mac and cheese. My boyfriend housed his "major munch" no problem (big appetite). S'MAC is a super casual spot--they have little kiosks in the front to order and you grab a number and a table and wait for a fresh mac and cheese skillet that they serve you. read more

Have known about this place for years, but never stopped by until recently - not bad! Good variety of menu options of Mac 'n' Cheese, very filling portions, and reasonable-ish prices. It's a relatively small, laid-back joint with just 1 chef and 1 other person running things - yet people get served promptly enough. You can serve yourself water from a tank, or you can order any number of soft drinks or beer as well. They have a touchscreen ordering system that's pretty straightforward, you're given a number and served within 5-10 minutes tops. If it's your first visit, definitely recommend the sampler platter - has easily enough food for one person or a solid amount to share for two, and you get to try all of their main varieties of Mac 'n' Cheese in one go. We felt that their American option (as classic as you can get) was actually their best item in the end - with a few contenders for second place (including the 4 Cheese and the "Cheeseburger" options). Everything is quite customizable no matter what you order - you can add more cheese, more breadcrumbs, more sauce and so forth for literally anything on the menu. Their smallest size for any one flavor, besides the sampler, is plenty for a single person - but you can scale up if you want to share with other people. Their largest "Party" size costs $69, kinda curious just how much tonnage of Mac 'n' Cheese we're talking about there. Fun spot, would come back for sure. read more

We were craving a quick snack before our trek back on the LLR on our way back to Garden City. We had just a long day of thrifting, but needed some food on the way back. I had ordered 2x Four Cheese Macs to go. 1 with bacon and it seemed a little long of a wait for it to be ready. There were a lot of to go orders and a few diners were waiting when I made the order at the kiosk. It had been placed in a Pizza style box so it was easy to transport. I had been able to dive in right away before we hopped on the Subway and it was really good, but hot. I believe one of them had Jalapenos since I remember I did not have any water on me. Both of the S'mac were really good, but not as good as the Homeroom on the West coast. Definitely a great place with tons of options from Cheeseburgers Macs to the Phiily or the Buffulo Style Macs. read more

Oh S'mac, how I've missed you. You may look different from years passed but you still have that same classic, cheesy charm. The menu hasn't changed much over the years and since it's been a minute I got my favorite, the Mediterranean. Nosh size, of course. Didn't eat there, instead I housed it down on my train ride home. This combination tasted like a creamy spinach pesto pasta. The richness of the cheese sauce was offset by the sharp garlic and fresh basil. There was a good amount and variety of vegetables in the garden mix. - vegan shiitake mushroom fig rosemary mac and cheese (6/10): this combination was loosely based off of one of the premade ones. I liked how the fig and rosemary went together but would have preferred caramelized onions to the mushrooms. It was also a lot of similar textures with nothing to break up the creaminess. I've ordered from this establishment on Seamless, have never stopped into it the physical location yet. If its nearly as good as its delivery, I will be there in no time. From what I have heard about the owners, they are good people local to NYC -- hence I am glad to continue to order meals from them on a regular basis (about 1x a week). My favorites are the major munch and the frozen bake at home meals. I like to get them and add in my own chicken, spam, sausage or burger to create a cheesy good concoction. I would like if they gave promos more on Seamless, or incentivized recurring orders, customers with applied promos if they order some certain amounts of food or times. For example, spend $50 get $5 credit towards another order. I have seen establishments do this and it has personally incentivized me to order from them over competition. Again, I would echo that I have heard good things of the owners of this spot so if you find yourself wanting a warm, cheesy meal -- this EV gem is worth your while. read more

I've ordered from S'MAC three or four times now through Uber Eats, and every single time, it's been a knockout. My go-to is the one with elbow macaroni, a blend of provolone and American cheese, and chunks of bacon mixed in. I don't know what it's officially called on the menu, but whatever it is--it's glorious. The top always arrives with that baked golden crust, and underneath it's perfectly cheesy and rich without being too greasy. The bacon adds that salty, smoky punch that ties the whole thing together. It's real comfort food, and they absolutely nail it every time. Even through delivery, the quality holds up. Still hot, still crispy on top, still worth every bite. If you're craving mac and cheese in NYC, S'MAC delivers--literally and figuratively. read more

I come alive when I hear the words "mac and cheese." That explains why my husband took me here on my birthday. I was wary of the restaurant's setup, with its self-order kiosks separated from the seating area of tables and metal chairs by large plastic curtains. I didn't see a worker in sight either, but I was comforted by the fact that they had a decent amount of patrons, so the food must be good. The variety of mac and cheese was exciting but didn't help my indecisiveness. Luckily, we could order the S'mac Sampler for $21 to try eight different flavors at once. After ordering, we grabbed a table number, picked our seats, and waited for the one worker we eventually saw to bring us our food. The sampler came with an infographic, which was surprisingly useful! Cajun: Pepper Jack, cheddar, onions, celery, peppers, sausage Cajun aptly describes the flavor. The cheese was more liquid and less dried up compared to the others. However, it doesn't taste like mac and cheese. It's my third favorite, and I enjoyed the sausage pieces. 4 Cheese: cheddar, muenster, gruyere, pecorina One of the cheesiest flavors because of the four cheeses used. It was the one that tasted most like mac and cheese. Second favorite. Cheese Burger: American cheese, cheddar, ground beef The cripsy layer of cheese reminded me of the burgers that would have crispy cheese instead of melted cheese. It definitely tasted like a cheeseburger, especially with the ground beef sprinkled in. All American: American, Cheddar Tasted similar to the 4 Cheese flavor because it was just cheese. It's also like the Cheese Burger one but without the meat. Napoletana: mozzarella, tomatoes, basil, garlic The garlic flavor was very notable. Disappointingly, it wasn't giving pizza flavor. It did have bits and pieces of tomatoes. Parisienne: brie, mushrooms, rosemary, figs The rosemary flavor was overpowering. I wish there were more mushrooms; I only found one small slice. In comparison, the Napoletena is better. La Mancha: manchego, fennel, onions I didn't expect this one to be a little spicy. The fennel is very strong, whereas the onion is subtle but present. Alpine: gruyere, slab bacon The slab bacon tasted like Canadian bacon, aka my favorite type of bacon. Best out of all the flavors. There was a homeless person who asked to buy a cookie, but they only had a dollar. The worker gave it to him for free. It was extremely heartwarming to witness it. read more

TLDR-- enjoyed the sample platter bc my friend and i were able to try a bunch of different flavors however the majority of them were mid, with only a couple flavors that we actually enjoyed. Came for lunch at around 2pm with a friend after going to a cafe's grand opening nearby. When you enter, you can order at two kiosks at the front and seat yourself. There was plenty of seats inside and it was super warm too. We ordered the sample skillet, with 8 types of mac and cheese (pictured below). My friend and I both agreed that the food came out relatively fast. Now for the mac and cheese reviews (ranked): 1. Cajun (8/10) -- had the soupiest consistency of the 8 mac and cheeses. Other than the consistency issue, i thought the flavors in this one was the best; it even had a little kick of spice 2. Napoletana (7/10) -- not soupy! You cant go wrong with mozzarella tomato basil garlic. The flavor was alright, as expected of the ingredient combination 3. Four cheese (7/10) -- how you would expect four cheese to taste like; cheesy 4. Parisienne (7/10) -- was surprised to see figs included! Was super intrigued by the incorporation and i think the flavor worked out nicely. I wouldve rated it higher, except i think that the fig flavor was a little overpowering and not the subtle fig that I was lowkey expecting 5. La mancha (7/10) -- at first it was my favorite but each subsequent bite made the fennel flavor more and more overpowering and it left a minty aftertaste. Just personal preference but i wasnt a fan of the minty taste. 6. All american (6/10) -- it was just fine. What you think of when you think of american mac and cheese. Nothing really special. 7. Cheeseburger (6/10) -- i think if you were to name something after another food it should taste like that food. That being said the cheeseburger flavor wasnt that noticeable; i didnt feel like i was having a cheeseburger, rather that i was just having mac and cheese w some ground beef. 8. Alpine (4/0) -- no flavor. Important to note that even though they tell you its bacon slabs, they are indeed SLABS; super thick and i was taken by surprise how big the pieces were. read more

The flavors are super interesting, like parisienne (brie, rosemary, figs, mushroom) and la mancha (manchego, fennel, onions). We got extra breadcrumbs which was tasty but also the breadcrumbs were all kind of stuck together :( Also some of the flavors were super oily and you could see all the oil separating from the cheese. Ever since I moved to NY I've been dying to find a restaurant similar to Homeroom (if you're from the Bay Area you already know) and S'Mac helps ease the home sickness. S'Mac is an cute/intimate Mac and cheese lovers haven in East Village. Ordering food on the kiosk is incredibly easy and they have a ton of customization options. I like how you can pick what size you want and have the ability to make your own Mac (or choose one of the premade combinations or order the sampler dish). Service interaction is very minimal here but nonetheless quick. We ordered: * Major Munch (MM) Parisienne -- Regular, Extra Breadcrumbs, Baked ($13.25) * MM Build Your Own -- Regular, Extra Breadcrumbs, Cheddar Cheese, Pepper Jack, Hot Dogs, Jalapeños, and Shiitake Mushrooms, Baked ($11.90 but toppings came out to $14.15) * Stewart's Orange and Cream Soda ($2.75) * Stewart's Key Lime Soda ($2.75) our total came out to $39.11 for two MM and two sodas. As for the MM's, they came out extremely hot on very well seasoned cast irons skillets. My boyfriend order the MM Parisienne and it was delicious. It was floral from the rosemary, smooth from the Brie, slightly sweet from the figs, the mushrooms made it savory and packed with umami. It was complex and decadent. It was a great combination -- I kept picking from his plate lol. Whereas for me, I built my own major munch. I wanted mines to be salty, cheesy, and spicy (adding a ton of Tabasco helped set those flavors off). Even though my MM was satisfying, I do regret not ordering from Sarita's Recommendation list like my boyfriend -- I'm definitely doing that next time. Either way I'm glad we came here because now I can have a little piece of home while I'm away from home thanks to S'MAC. read more
