Twice these people have come out and my AC is still not working. I'm pregnant and have a toddler running around and it's been unbearable. There's no way they know what they are doing. He didn't even know what the issue was and started changing things assuming that would Fix the problem. He says oh it's cause it's too hot it's not working as well... what!? We decided to do a HVAC inspection just to make sure everything was functioning well before the hot weather came in. Sam was very responsive, he not only contacted me right away but also texted me the schedule of when his people would be able to stop by. Nearing the day of, a last minute work thing came up and I asked Sam if it would be possible to reschedule, he immediately replied that it was no problem and got back to me in less than a day on when the updated visit would be. Thank you again Sam for being so flexible! Justin dropped by to perform the inspection and not only was he very courteous, informative and knowledgable. He also informed us of every step he needed to do and why. He showed me the various readings, and explained we were running low on refrigerant. Justin then went over the options for me and checked if I might want to refill the levels. While he was about to add in more refrigerant, he saw there was dye previously in the lines and said this warranted a deeper investigation as there was likely a leak. He found the most likely cause and started the process for replacing our coil. Thanks again Justin and Sam! We really appreciate all your help! We will update again once our home warranty (American Home Shield) finalizes the process and we get our new coil installed. Unresponsive to messages. I had a tech here in June and the unit wasn't fixed. In fact, the proper testing wasn't even done. He said I had a leak "somewhere" but didn't know where. I've been told there is usually a dye test done to check for leaks. That was not done. They wanted me to add coolant at 100.00 a pound and he didn't know how much I needed. Now my question is why the hell would I add coolant if I have a leak? I told the tech we weren't going to pay for that until it was properly diagnosed. I'm not faulting the tech, in fact he was really nice but not thorough with diagnosing the real issue. Tech said he replaced a couple of parts (I'm not sure which ones because I never got an invoice or work order). I've left 3 messages with this company trying to see what was done and nobody calls back. I reached out to the home warranty company (AHS) and they said I have to get it from them. I really held off on posting this review because I'm not upset with the tech, I'm upset that I'm being ignored and my A/C is still not working as it should. read more

SM Air is a great company, Our AC unit is about 25 years old but its going strong. Last year the unit had stopped working and it was suppose to be 105 later in the week, so I YELPED AC Repair and came across SM Air. I talked to the owner Sam on the phone and he said they were booked for the rest of the week. I made an appointment for the following week and hung up the phone. A few minutes later my phone rang, it was Sam telling me he would be out tomorrow between 8am and 11pm. (AWESOME). The following day at 8am I had a knock on the door, and it was Sam from SM Air. He introuduced himself to me and then it clicked " I know him from some where" After talking for a few minutes Sam asked if I worked for the fire department a few years ago. (Thats how I know him, He was a volunteer firefighter in the neighboring town (Winters). Sam went out to our AC unit and opened it up and with in minutes our AC was working better then before. Sam did a quick tune up and was finished. Sam came back in and explained everything that he had done and gave me some info on our AC and he was on his way. Yesterday our AC stopped working again, I called SM Air again and explained what issues I was having with our unit now. They said they could come out tuesday between 9am and 11am. The tech showed up around 10:30am. He was a younger guy but very professional. I showed the tech where the AC Unit was and left him to do his thing. Less then 10 minutes later the tech came in and said he found the problem and it will be fixed in no time. The tech went out to his van and then back to the AC unit. A minute later I heard a click and could feel the cold air pumping into the house. The tech came back in and said the capacitor was bad and a few wires had became loose on top of the capacitor. I would leave 0 stsars if I could. The new owners are awful!! These folks talk a good game but are totally non-responsive., Something has changed in the operation- I think new owners., They were supposed to get back in touch with me after an "AC checkup..." but never did. I left messages on their machine several times (no answer at their Dixon, Davis, or Vacaville numbers. Then, their message machine was full and I couldn't even leave a message. Someone finally got back, saying I needed authorization from American Home Shield, which I got. Then they (again ) never called back, and I have gone through the same thing (no answer, full machine...) Bad juju... I think I will go to Greiner and just forget about the Am. Home Shield warranty-- eat the price and get something done. Something has changed here! This company came to my residence to service my wall unit A/C. The tech from the company took my A/C unit apart and determined he couldn't fix it. He told me my insurance company would buy us a new one since it was unrepairable so I let him leave the unit in pieces. The tech goes back to his company with doubt about the machine and told them it wasn't being used at my resident. Now my A/C units in pieces and SM Air will not come and put my current A/C back together. Terrible Service. read more

I had an issue with my AC I call them to request service so I paid my $75 copay fee and they assigned Certified Comfort HTG & AC to come to repair my AC. Certified Comfort said my AC only needed coolant and the AHS only covered the first $10 so I had to pay the remainder which was around $160 more out of my pocket, but this didn't fix the issue it was just a band aid, so I had to call them again on 06/03/16 and AHS assigned the same company to come to "repair" my AC, but they did the same thing they didn't even test the unit the guy only came and told me you need to add coolant and this time is going to be more because it is empty, how did he know it was empty without checking it or testing it, nothing, so I got upset and I told him he already did that once and he didn't fix the problem so I called AHS and asked them to assign another company because this one seemed to be ripp off, so they assign SM Air to come and test the AC unit and they came to do a test after a while because they were not available when I was available and they told AHS they weren't able to get in touch with me, and finally they came a couple of times to do the testing they told me they had to replace the coil and do some other things that were not covered by AHS that I had to pay from my pocket but this time it was a larger amount and I told them I didn't have the money to do it. so I thought they left everything as it was before and I cancelled the contract with AHS because they are a ripoff and they don't cover any expenses so why having them plus every time I called them or try to chat with them it took me over an hour to wait and sometimes the call dropped. Recently I tried to have a company fix my AC but they told me they couldn't even test it because the lines were cut and there was a nitrogen placed, and I didn't even know about it. Now when I call them they say I have to pay for them to come and reconnect the lines and remove the Nitrogen???? or I have to call AHS so they pay them to do it. When I call AHS they say that SM Air is responsible for it not them. What kind of companies are these, that they don't take responsibility of the issues, I had my contract active, I paid the $75 fees a couple of times, but they only took my money. read more

I paid this company $325 to crawl under my manufactured home & hook up the bipass duct that was shooting all my cool air conditioned air under my house. Sam said he needed to pay two workers & they would have to dig a trench into the soil to access the area. The work was to be completed while I was at work. Afterward, I felt no change in air flow to the inside of the home. Soon after, my long time electrician did a job beneath the house & tells me the duct is still suspended with cold air escaping. I phoned Sam from SM Air. I explained my electrician's findings & that he was a big guy. He felt it would be tight,but he could have done the job for his size. Sam said he did the job & it was the other end of the duct that had probably dropped. (There is only one bipass duct. His write up stated he attached the bipass duct). He asked me, "Why didn't you have your fat ass electrician hook it up?" I repeatedly called for him to return & show me his work. Finally he told me he could rehook it up but again for $325. I had a contractor friend look at it & he agreed, nothing had been touched, so recommended a reliable heat & air contractor. The gentleman did the job alone in 30 min. & charged me $200. He took the time to explain to me why he knew nothing had been touched. There was no disturbed soil. He stated he could guarantee no recent work had been down there. He estimated the last work to be approximately 12 years old.....The house was 13 years old. read more

Used a home warranty company for this service. The first company the home warranty dispatched had horrible reviews and I was not willing to let them come work on my system based on those reviews. I called back and requested they assign another company, and I'm sure glad I did. Sam the owner came out. He fit me into his schedule the following business day to get our air conditioning working again. He showed up when he said he would and called and communicated when he was coming. He knew what the problem was within minutes and had it working in no time. Very professional and knowledgable. Had everything back together and cleaned up. At my request, he even took a quick look at my heater to make sure everything looked good. He saw one small potential issue and took care of it for free and educated me on what to look for incase the problem persists. Great guy and company. I highly recommend SM Air. read more
