I truly appreciate the fast response and quick turnaround! Saved the fay for sure. I would recommend her to anyone!

I am devastated. I entrusted my grandmother's wedding dress to Slubia in July, asking her to tailor the bodice to my measurements and replace the pleated tulle skirt that had been damaged by moths. I made it very clear how important this dress was to me, as I planned to wear it for my own wedding. It is now September 29th, just two weeks before my wedding, and the dress is unwearable. The bodice does not fit, and the skirt is not pleated, nor does it fall properly over the underskirt. Instead of restoring my grandmother's dress, Slubia left me with something I cannot wear on one of the most important days of my life. I don't know if the issue was lack of time, lack of skill, or lack of care, but the result is the same: I am left without my grandmother's dress two weeks before my wedding day. This experience has been heartbreaking, and I would caution anyone who is considering trusting her with a sentimental or important garment. read more

After a wedding dress nightmare that ended up with me finding my dream gown less than two months from my wedding, Slubia was a godsend. I had a very ornate ball gown dress with several layers that needed to be hemmed. It was also 2 sizes too big and had to be taken in significantly. The sleeves had to be tightened. The neckline was bare and I wanted to embellish it as well. She recommended a pearl trim (which she sewed by hand). Also, being a busty girl, I needed straps for support without having to wear an actual bra. She added strap hooks and straps as well. Slubia was knowledgeable and understanding of every element of the alteration I wanted. The turnaround time was insanely fast and my dress was ready in less than two weeks with everything done perfectly and no need for additional alterations. I was astounded because she is extremely busy but makes sure every client feels prioritized. Her work space is clean, quaint and allows for privacy. You can tell that her kids and grandkids love her very much which speaks to her amazing personality. Slubia made a stressful time seamless and my dress was such a dream. I truly felt like the prettiest girl on my wedding day. I will be forever thankful for her service and will recommend her to anyone without reservation. Thank you Slubia! read more

Slubia did an amazing job with alterations on my wedding gown. I have wide hips and a booty on me. I wanted my waist to be accentuated and Im not as well endowed up top so there was also work to be done up top to smooth out the gaping neckline. I also requested to make the dress to fit my height with my wedding shoes without losing the gorgeous ruffles on my dress. She shortened all parts of the dress which included removing, cutting and reattaching each layer. There were so many layers on my dress and I was extremely happy with my it in the end. Slubia also has a great personality and is realistic with what alteration requests may not work or how they can impact movement. And last but not least, she speaks fluently in English and Spanish and has many years in the industry. So if you want them curves to look their best in that dress, get your alterations done with her. read more

Slubia SAVED my wedding dress. After taking my dress home from bridal shop, I tried it on a week before the wedding and it fit AWFUL. I desperately brought my gown to Slubia who not only made it fit perfect (despite it being satin and despite the horror of what the bridal shop seamstress did) but she did it in a few days and was pleasant and professional the entire time. Slubia has an experienced hand and an eye for finding solutions. Her work area is clean and beautiful. I would recommend her to anyone needing the job done correctly the first time. Thank you Slubia, from the bottom of my heart, for helping me feel beautiful on my wedding day. read more

Great response time and very helpful. Took care of my needs when I was on a time crunch. Would definitely recommend

I am so grateful for this talented seamstress Slubia. She was so welcoming and very understanding to the needs of my alterations. I was in need due to another seamstress did not complete the alterations on my formal gown that I needed for my 20 year anniversary. Slubia was able to not only do the alterations quickly but with grace and talent. I am so grateful for Slubia and will definitely be back to see her for future alterations you cannot find someone of her expertise in todays world. If you need anything done she is the seamstress to see. Very happy customer Luanne Bell read more

Slubia was amazing! She came to my apt in Queens, pinned my dress (that I bought from a Kleinfelds Sample Sale) and left. She came back 2 weeks later w/ the adjustments, made a few more such as making it tighter and brought it back a week later. It was perfect! The length skimmed the floor perfectly with my heels, it was tight but not too tight, and the bustle....was also PERFECT! Another seamstress said she couldn't do a bustle because my train was too heavy but Slubia made it work. The bustle did not break or come undone the entire time! Even with all the crazy running around, dancing and lifting! And not to mention it looked amazingly beautiful! So happy I went with her! read more

I found Slubia through Yelp and am so glad that I did! I needed to get my bridal shower dress altered (shortened in length) and Slubia was able to accommodate meeting with me and had my dress ready within a week. To be honest, the price was a bit more than I expected to pay for alterations but the job was done well and quick. Slubia was very sweet and a pleasure to work with. She sent me updates on when my dress would be ready. I am happy I found Slubia in the area and will definitely be reaching out to her for any other gowns I will need altered in the future. read more

She's the best! I needed a dress altered from full length to tea length and taken in. The original construction of the dress was a bit tricky but Slubia did an amazing job! Super easy to work with. Will definitely work with her again. read more

Slubia is the ultimate seamstress! She fixed my grand graduation satin skirt with train and bridesmaid dress with an amazing turn around! Both the skirt and dress fit like a glove as if the garments were made for my body thanks to her. 10/10 and at a reasonable price too. Most definitely recommend her expertise! read more

Truly a gem in this industry! I'm less than a month away from my wedding and I had a nightmare that my detachable train came undone while walking down the aisle. I called Slubia and she said to me "I'm in the middle of moving, I will make room right now and you can bring your dress. I will have it done by the next day!" She truly stopped packing to accommodate me, and while there I decided to add straps to my strapless gown. She added removable straps which makes it much easier. All the sweet reviews are absolutely true, she will make you feel right at home. Her fees are super reasonable and like I said, she had my alterations done the very next day. Do not hesitate to book her. read more

Honesty is necessary when writing a review so I intend on fully explaining myself and why I'm such a low and long review. I went to slubia to get to get my wedding dress altered after it arrived from the designer with some needing for alterations. When I receive my wedding dress, I noticed the zipper and a few other things were off. So I reached out to my designer who said to go to the tailor near me to get my dress fixed. He specifically wanted to talk to the tailor so they can figure out the best way to approach the alterations together. I went to slubia on recommendation by family member, who praise her for her work. My first appointment was very strange - she seems like she was in such a rush and she had no time for me and that I needed to be in and out of her place in two minutes otherwise she would be so pushed behind schedule. I talk to her about what I needed to alter my dress and then requested that she briefly speak to my tailor about the alterations. She refused, since she had no time for me and after a lot of begging she agreed to write make a really small video explaining the things that need to be altered. Again, this was with much resistance. When I went back to her to receive my dress, She actually canceled my first appointment because she had some family engagements and seem very apathetic when I explain to her that maintaining my appointment is important because I had some family members who came into town just to be there. further on my next appointment I was late because I had hit some traffic and she made a very big deal to me about how I wasted her time and was very rude to me. I tried on the dress and again wanted her to talk to my designer because my designer specifically wanted to talk to her but she initially refused. I insisted she talk to him because the communication was important and she was very disguistingly rude to me and And my designer again. In her words "I really don't have time to talk to you but this is what is wrong...." I thought that would be my last instance with her but my zipper came off and I needed to return to her again. I set up an appointment with her and this time waa just 10 minutes late. I went to her home office and as I got out of the car I saw her leaving her house. I found it strange that she had not even given me a heads up that she was leaving home (if I arrived two minutes later, I would have arrived to an empty home with no warning. She didn't even check in to see if I was there) so I called her name and she turn back and saw me and looked so angry that I was there and stomped her way back to her house. As I got in, she proceeded to complain to me about how I was 10 minutes late and wasting her time. Again, the most incredibly rude service I could imagine. Entire time, she kept complaining that I was wasting her time as she collected my dress. She ultimately did a fine job altering my dress but she charged me $500 for that. I understand that wedding dress alterations are typically expensive but the cost includes customer service as I am paying a steep price to adjust a few things. However the customer service provided by slubia was the worst customer experience I have seen in my life with absolutely no Exaggeration. There are many wedding tailors's who can do a good job and also offer a good customer service. No matter how fantastic of a job she could've done I would absolutely never return and never recommend anybody to her because her customer service is just unimaginable. She made one of the most exciting experiences for me that much more difficult because I was worried that she would yell at me for doing something wrong when that should not have been the case, particularly if I'm paying her a high price. There are tons of wedding tailor's who do a great job. I'm sure you can find someone who will also treat you like a good human. read more

Slubia was great! Thank you to everyone that wrote reviews before hand, which intrigued me to reach out to her. She has been woking in this industry for quite a long time, so she definitely knows what she is doing. She reassured me through the whole process, that she was going to take care of my dress and took care of everything I wanted. If I would have gone to where I bought my dress (Kleinfeld), I would have been charged 3 times more than Slubia charges for all alterations. I received so many compliments on my wedding day, and I couldn't be happier! If you are looking for alterations on your wedding dress, Slubia will not disappoint! read more

Slubia came recommended by a friend who got her wedding gown altered by her. I was definitely not disappointed - she was such a wonderful and lovely woman to work with. I was extremely particular about the way I wanted my dress to fit, and she was incredibly patient with me. After each fitting, she offered very valuable advice and honest suggestions - I would 100% recommend going to Slubia over an alterations service from any bridal boutique. She would never rip you off - she'll give you the better deal, with the highest quality alterations. She works so quickly - I saw her about three weeks before my wedding to get my dress fitted (it took a few visits), and she was able to get everything done in time for when I needed my dress. She even made the most perfect belt for me - I had beautiful detail on the back of my dress, which I was concerned that a belt or sash would cover. Lo and behold, she was able to make an absolutely stunning belt out of sheer organza - sparkling jewels in the front, with the organza ribbon that had a hook and eye closer so you can still see my back detail. I plan to go to her whenever I need something fitted! Thank you Slubia, for making my dream dress fit like a dream :) read more

I LOVE SLUBIA!!! Both of my sons were getting married within three months of each other. When I shopped for gowns I was unimpressed. I found one that I loved but it was way too expensive. A friend suggested Slubia. I knew the minute I met her that she was terrific. I showed her a picture of what I had in mind. Slubia created my gown and it came out beautiful. Every detail I could have imagined was perfect. I received so many compliments on it. The cost was a fraction of what the bridal salon would have charged me. I will forever use Slubia for all of my alterations and future gown needs. I've seen other gowns she has created and she is truly gifted. In addition, she has such a warm heart and calming personality. Not only did I get a beautiful gown, but I made a friend. I love Slubia and her fine work. I highly recommend her! read more
