I am devastated. I entrusted my grandmother's wedding dress to Slubia in July, asking her to tailor the bodice to my measurements and replace the pleated tulle skirt that had been damaged by moths. I made it very clear how important this dress was to me, as I planned to wear it for my own wedding. It is now September 29th, just two weeks before my wedding, and the dress is unwearable. The bodice does not fit, and the skirt is not pleated, nor does it fall properly over the underskirt. Instead of restoring my grandmother's dress, Slubia left me with something I cannot wear on one of the most important days of my life. After a wedding dress nightmare that ended up with me finding my dream gown less than two months from my wedding, Slubia was a godsend. I had a very ornate ball gown dress with several layers that needed to be hemmed. It was also 2 sizes too big and had to be taken in significantly. The sleeves had to be tightened. The neckline was bare and I wanted to embellish it as well. She recommended a pearl trim (which she sewed by hand). Also, being a busty girl, I needed straps for support without having to wear an actual bra. She added strap hooks and straps as well. Slubia was knowledgeable and understanding of every element of the alteration I wanted. The turnaround time was insanely fast and my dress was ready in less than two weeks with everything done perfectly and no need for additional alterations. I was astounded because she is extremely busy but makes sure every client feels prioritized. Her work space is clean, quaint and allows for privacy. You can tell that her kids and grandkids love her very much which speaks to her amazing personality. Slubia made a stressful time seamless and my dress was such a dream. Slubia did an amazing job with alterations on my wedding gown. I have wide hips and a booty on me. I wanted my waist to be accentuated and Im not as well endowed up top so there was also work to be done up top to smooth out the gaping neckline. I also requested to make the dress to fit my height with my wedding shoes without losing the gorgeous ruffles on my dress. She shortened all parts of the dress which included removing, cutting and reattaching each layer. There were so many layers on my dress and I was extremely happy with my it in the end. Slubia also has a great personality and is realistic with what alteration requests may not work or how they can impact movement. And last but not least, she speaks fluently in English and Spanish and has many years in the industry. Slubia was amazing! She came to my apt in Queens, pinned my dress (that I bought from a Kleinfelds Sample Sale) and left. She came back 2 weeks later w/ the adjustments, made a few more such as making it tighter and brought it back a week later. It was perfect! The length skimmed the floor perfectly with my heels, it was tight but not too tight, and the bustle....was also PERFECT! Another seamstress said she couldn't do a bustle because my train was too heavy but Slubia made it work. The bustle did not break or come undone the entire time! I called Slubia and she said to me "I'm in the middle of moving, I will make room right now and you can bring your dress. I will have it done by the next day!" Honesty is necessary when writing a review so I intend on fully explaining myself and why I'm such a low and long review. I went to slubia to get to get my wedding dress altered after it arrived from the designer with some needing for alterations. When I receive my wedding dress, I noticed the zipper and a few other things were off. So I reached out to my designer who said to go to the tailor near me to get my dress fixed. He specifically wanted to talk to the tailor so they can figure out the best way to approach the alterations together. I went to slubia on recommendation by family member, who praise her for her work. My first appointment was very strange - she seems like she was in such a rush and she had no time for me and that I needed to be in and out of her place in two minutes otherwise she would be so pushed behind schedule. I talk to her about what I needed to alter my dress and then requested that she briefly speak to my tailor about the alterations. She refused, since she had no time for me and after a lot of begging she agreed to write make a really small video explaining the things that need to be altered. Again, this was with much resistance. When I went back to her to receive my dress, She actually canceled my first appointment because she had some family engagements and seem very apathetic when I explain to her that maintaining my appointment is important because I had some family members who came into town just to be there. further on my next appointment I was late because I had hit some traffic and she made a very big deal to me about how I wasted her time and was very rude to me. I tried on the dress and again wanted her to talk to my designer because my designer specifically wanted to talk to her but she initially refused. I insisted she talk to him because the communication was important and she was very disguistingly rude to me and And my designer again. In her words "I really don't have time to talk to you but this is what is wrong...." I thought that would be my last instance with her but my zipper came off and I needed to return to her again. I set up an appointment with her and this time waa just 10 minutes late. I went to her home office and as I got out of the car I saw her leaving her house. I found it strange that she had not even given me a heads up that she was leaving home (if I arrived two minutes later, I would have arrived to an empty home with no warning. She didn't even check in to see if I was there) so I called her name and she turn back and saw me and looked so angry that I was there and stomped her way back to her house. As I got in, she proceeded to complain to me about how I was 10 minutes late and wasting her time. Again, the most incredibly rude service I could imagine. Entire time, she kept complaining that I was wasting her time as she collected my dress. She ultimately did a fine job altering my dress but she charged me $500 for that. I understand that wedding dress alterations are typically expensive but the cost includes customer service as I am paying a steep price to adjust a few things. However the customer service provided by slubia was the worst customer experience I have seen in my life with absolutely no Exaggeration. There are many wedding tailors's who can do a good job and also offer a good customer service. No matter how fantastic of a job she could've done I would absolutely never return and never recommend anybody to her because her customer service is just unimaginable. She made one of the most exciting experiences for me that much more difficult because I was worried that she would yell at me for doing something wrong when that should not have been the case, particularly if I'm paying her a high price. There are tons of wedding tailor's who do a great job. I'm sure you can find someone who will also treat you like a good human. read more

AMAZING! I needed a detachable skirt, another skirt, bodysuit, belt and reception dress altered. She took my measurements at the initial visit and everything fit perfectly at my second visit and I was able to bring them home! Each visit also only took about 5-10 minutes!
