Was looking for a place near Prospect Park that served Karaage chicken.. since receiving the Yelp email touting Karaage as the latest trend in chicken. Thus, met up with my nephew who lives near Prospect Park. He mentioned always passing Slow Loris and wanting to try it. Slow Loris has a chill vibe and cool atmosphere. It offers an extensive menu that specializes in sushi( sushi bar), specialty rolls, poke, bibimbap and entrees that include chicken katsu and the classic chicken teriyaki. It also serves numerous noodle dishes with different broths. We decided to try numerous hot appetizers. Here's what we dined on: Karaage chicken: this was it, what Iwas saving my appetite for and.. it.. was... delicious so good we ordered double. First the chicken was moist, crispy, golden and dipping it in the spicy Mayo gave it a nice kick. The portion consisted of two large pieces of chicken and two smaller " chicken tender" pieces. This is a must try appetizer! Fried Calamari: nice portion of rings, not served piping hot like in an Italian eatery; but breaded and diced chives atop of the calamari and served with wasabi sauce on the side Takiyaki: six pieces of octopus with bonito ( fish flakes), my nephew loves it. He calls it great Japanese street food. Scallion pancake: looks like a huge frittata with scallions, onion and peppers with a side of ponzu sauce. Mochi: we tried green tea and vanilla. Each dish had two pieces of mochi with chocolate sauce and poki. The place was full and the service was prompt, courteous and accommodating. I have been eating at Slow loris for a couple of years (pre-CoVid and post) through primarily delivery but also in person/pick up. First thing is that it is always somewhat popular throughout the week. So of course, the place would be 'packed' on the weekend. So if you can only order from there through delivery or primarily apps, be prepared that you might not be able to get it as they shut off when it gets busy. But I am close enough that pick up is not a hassle. You just have to do it through the phone and make sure you have the menu on hand (they have no website on their own so you would go through chow now for latest options). I think part of the popularity of Slowloris is that although there are many other places in the near vicinity that does sushi, a) there are very few in the surrounding neighborhoods (ie: Flatbush) that has Korean food (especially galbi/Kalbi) plus b) having a place to sit down and eat as opposed to only delivery/very tiny eat in. The place is rather small but it is great for a date or a small group. In terms of the food, it is one of my fave places for a reason. A robust sushi/sashimi selection plus special rolls, the ability to choose between pan friend or deep fried shumai/gyoza, and the Korean options make it a dependable spot that you won't get bored of too soon. If I am in the area, I would definitely stop by to pick up a treat. read more

Stopped by for lunch today and was surprised that the place was practically empty, save for one customer waiting for her carryout order. First impression was that it was a charming place with an open layout that was anchored by the large bench table right in the middle. Additional tables lined the wall on the far side of the restaurant and an interesting "street art"-like work graced the wall on that side as well. We were seated at the table closest to the sidewalk, through which we had a great view of the sidewalk & street. It was a nice day out so the light that flooded in was also nice. Our server was timely and polite. Our orders (Bulgogi Bibimbap for her & Chicken Katsu Box for me) came out without delay and were tasty. There is a lot to choose from on the menu, including all kinds of sushi/rolls. They serve water in little stainless-steel cups which are a nice touch and representative of eastern traditions. The metal makes even tap water taste almost "sweet". The specials were around $12 apiece which was a decent price. Our experience was pretty solid in all areas. The restaurant is situated on a busy street but we were able to score a muni meter spot right up front. As we ate we noticed several other customers come in for take out and there was one other gentleman who was dining solo. Slow Loris had been one of our neighborhood standbys for a few years but after last two delivery attempts we will probably not use it again. Food is always good but delivery is consistently up to an hour late with what seems like no communication between the restaurant and whatever third party courier they've started using to do delivery. Food that should come hot or cold is at room temperature and has clearly been sitting out for awhile. Most importantly, last night we ordered SL after a 5 hour drive and when it hadn't come, we had to improvise to feed a hungry, fussy toddler out of our empty fridge. Not worth the risk of 60+ minute late delivery again. Shame because we really used to like it. read more

Went to dinner here on a week night. Cute little spot with decent amount of seating for the size of the place. They serve both Korean and Japanese food. We opted for a crispy rice appetizer and some sushi rolls. The crispy rice was good. Freshly fried and crisp with a good amount of spicy tuna on top. The sushi on the other hand was not that great. I got a NY roll and another I forgot the name of. The shrimp tempura in the NY roll was cold, not crispy, and over cooked and the fish on top was not the best quality. The other roll just didn't taste good. Not sure what type of fish was on top but it was extremely fishy tasting. I've had lots different sushi rolls and this one just didnt taste right. We also got a slice of crepe cake and some tea for dessert. The slice was tiny and not worth the price. Overall it was ok. Average food and service. If you go, definitely stick with the Korean food. Came here the first week they opened for dinner and recently for lunch. Cute place with warm ambiance, 2 main large tables and 2 counters space. It can easily get crowded which was the case when we arrived for early dinner. We had to settle for counter seats which were just fine. I like that they serve you water in a cute stainless steel mason jar. Keeps it very cold. Food. Their menu is just so appealing. I have to write a great review for Slow Loris. I first ate it with my girlfriend through delivery, and she said she'd ordered some Korean food. Great, another shoddy meal without flavor. Boy was I wrong. The soon dubu is the BOMB. I'm not really concerned with much else because the flavor really horse-kicks you in the mouth. It smells and tastes like the stuff my mom used to cook, and reminds me of home, painfully so! The spicy rice cake is also delicious. My partner and I went on a walk near Prospect Park and decided to stop by Slow Loris for lunch. The server was very friendly and polite. He sat us down quickly and answered all of the questions we had while ordering. My partner and I shared the honey crisp Korean fried chicken(KFC), he got the chicken fried rice, and I got the bulgogi lunch special. The KFC was so good that we had to place a second order to go. The fried rice was flavorful and the bulgogi lunch special came with a lot of sides and were all prepared very well. Slow Loris serves good Korean food near Prospect Park. The dining room isn't big, serving maybe 20-25 guests at a time. But service is good, food is reliable, fresh, and affordable. It would likely be a good neighborhood staple if I lived near here. I ordered a hot stone bimbimbap and a shrimp avocado maki roll. I was overall really happy with the freshness of my food and the qualities of the flavors. The bimbimbap was excellent, with distinct garlic and sesame flavors, fresh veggies, and a beautiful presentation. The bowl lacked the crispy rice on the bottom but in the interest of getting me food faster, that's okay. The maki roll was okay, with more avocado than shrimp. The restaurant is near the park. We got take-out and it is really surprised us! We got bibimbap and LA kalbi. The food is as good as the ones at Ktown, and it is better value. Last Sun, we were able to partake the Brooklyn Botanical Garden Lightscape show and it was close to 8:30 and came across this place that opens till 9:45 ish. This has great reviews on Yelp and is known for Korean Japanese restaurant. I am glad we stepped it. The place has such a great local feel and feels quite authentic. I had the soondubu with pork which is kind of like a tofu soup stew accompanied with rice. Don't let the size fool you, it is extremely hearty and hit the stomach in a nice wintery day. My wife got the eel donburi sashimi rice bowl whereby the presentation was very unique and everything tasted really fresh. Even the eel was very fresh and didn't feel package opened. My son got the j-ramen and while he enjoyed it, he wished the chashu was more tender. For appetizer, we got the karrage chicken which is fried korean chicken. This was just was so so as we had better elsewhere. All in all, we enjoyed our meal very much and certainly would recommend. Lastly, service rocks!!! read more

Very poor customer service!!!!! I have a condition and brought in my service animal. The server very un-politely asked me to leave because they have a policy of "no dogs" in the place. He would refuse to even look at the documentation and when I asked to talk to the owner or the mannager he told me the mannager would "not talk to me" literal words: "She won't talk to you" To a person with a condition, like me, to be denied service is against the law. This was the first time in life my life something like this happens. I have to highlight that my service animal is trained and was not having signs of misbehaving of any kind. Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), it is illegal to discriminate against someone with a disability who needs their service dog by refusing entrance to a legitimate service dog. I will NEVER set foot in this place again after being mistreated and will not recommend to anyone to go to a place that can attempt with your security. read more

I ordered: - Bulgogi Bibimbap with Miso Soup and Gochujang Sauce $13.00 - Beef Japchae with Rice $13.00 - Pork Kimchi Fried Rice $13.00 - Kimchi Pancake with Ponzu Sauce $12.00 I don't think I'd order the japchae again since it was a bit smaller than the others for the same price and could use more veggies. So fantastic. I almost don't want to tell people about it. I've dined in and gotten take out and both experiences I was super impressed. Personal favorites are the seafood pancake, the takoyaki, the k-bao, and any of the sashimi bowls. Surprisingly fresh fish for PLG and the service was fantastic when we dined in. Situated on a busy intersection in Flatbush, this restaurant looks very unassuming on the outside. But once inside, this place oozes with personality. Now on to the food, which was great. I ordered the K-Bao as my app. The pork was cooked well and the cucumber slices brought the dish together along with the sauce. However, I felt 10$ was little too much to pay for this dish. The main dish, a bulgogi lunch box, was stellar. The bulgogi, rice, and veggie japchae were cooked to perfection. The 2 kyoza were unfortunately very small and underwhelming. Overall, this spot provides great meals with many more items on the menu. It is a safe bet for a meet up, date, or just for single dinner. Made a big accomplishment Thursday. Picked Slow Loris to end the night. At first I was thinking fish but I realized with my tuna allergy I would be risking it. Changed my mind and got beef. Worked out because I enjoyed my meal. The presentation was cute! I found it odd they gave me a jar/cup for my soda but a small plastic cup for my water. Focusing on the soda for a minute; Strawberry milk soda! I got it just to be able to say I've had it but am now a huge fan of and want to find out where I can buy a case of it. I finished both drinks quick but wasn't offered refills. I had to ask. Dessert was fun too. The vanilla mochi was perfect. I haven't had red bean mochi before so I don't know if that's the regular texture. It felt/tasted like when ice cream melts and then you try to freeze it again. Not smooth. I used to love this place but they are not consistent. I ordered my normal order of 9 pieces of sashimi. When I opened the container the pieces were extremely small and odd looking. I was hungry and trusted them since I order from them often so I ate it. Well there was barely any wasabi and after taking out some of the ginger I noticed a small spot of a white mushy substance underneath. As I ate it I realized I didn't think it was fresh because it didn't taste like it normally does. I was so right I got extremely sick about 3 hours later. I know places have off days but this was so off it was as if I ordered from a completely different place. I stated I didn't want avocado on my rainbow roll but sure enough it was there. I am definitely taking a long break from sushi and sadly my not going to ever visit again. It's a shame as the people who work there are nice. read more

This place is really far away from my house so I took double of those orders to go home with me because I just couldn't forget the amazing taste. I went there on my birthday a week ago and it was so good. They have this sloth theme, so cute. It's also a sushi place, but we went there specifically for the Korean food. And they did not disappoint, there were so many things I tried that I've never had before and so many things that I'm looking forward to trying when I go back there the next time. I'm really excited Slow Loris opened up, and I can't wait to be a regular. They don't serve booze at the time of this review, but it looks like they will have a full liquor license soon. They serve Japanese (sushi) and Korean dishes, which is always scary, but they do both well. I got the chicken karaage, which was really good. It was fried lightly but not super crunchy and was nice and moist inside. The pineapple aoili was tasty too. The rolls are a bit expensive at $8 a roll, but perhaps they are bigger than the normal $4-5 rolls. I didn't want to chance it, so I got the 4 hand rolls for $15. The sushi was fresh and it was a very great deal for dinner. It came with a miso soup. We also split the calamari bokkum. I really enjoyed this dish - a nice amount of spice and it holds up against other bokkum I have had - and is much less expensive than places in Williamsburg or even K-Town. The service was attentive and friendly. Can't wait ti come back! I hope they start providing ban chan - it was the only part of the experience of eating Korean food that I missed. read more

I had my first ever bibimbap here and it was such an amazing experience! :D They provide the option of having it on a bowl or hot stone, so of course I had to try it on the hot stone. It came out sizzling and it stayed hot during the entire course of the meal, which made every bite as enjoyable as the first. And the chili sauce that it came with was sooo good that I basically put it on everything. We also ordered the Bul Go Gi and this was super flavorful and delicious. It was well seasoned and cooked perfectly. Another plus was that it came out sizzling and stayed warm during the entire meal. We also had the 4 pc sushi combo with spicy tuna rolls and I was extremely satisfied. The sushi was fresh and the spicy tuna was delish. Once we placed our order, all 3 dishes came out about 5 minutes later. I was actually shocked by how quick the food came out.
