PLEASE READ ( I know it's a long review, but it's worth it! )
I have gotten my hair cut here before and the guys do great but today they gave me a barber in training without telling me - I was a bit skeptical at first but I had trust in the fact that they worked together so she must not be awful so I let her do it. She separated my hair ( I was doing an undercut ) and I noticed that she was taking a bit longer than usual, which is not a big deal because it's good to take time on stuff like this. but after she had shaved the hair off I noticed that each side of my hair was completely off and one side was quite a bit higher than the other. She tried lining it up again and told me it was straight but after looking at it closely, I disagreed; she proceeded to call one of the guys over and he agreed with me that the line was uneven ( If I had let her shave it again my hair would've been WAY higher than I wanted it to be, and uneven again! ) I'm glad I caught this error and the guy finally came over and separated the tiny patch of hair that determined if this cut was good or bad down the middle. It took him about 15 minutes to line this up correctly ( I was in the shop for around an hour or more trying to fix my hair ). We eventually fixed the separation issue and she proceeded to give me a tape up following the natural hairline; after she did so she called the guy over once more and he said that he needed to fix it, so he went over it quite a bit more and made it look great ( I heard quite a bit of of hair getting shaved off, so I figure she didn't cut enough or made it uneven and he was fixing it ) I then asked if she could fade my beard into my hair and she had no idea how to do it. The guy came over and lined my hair up and faded my beard into my hair. She shaved my neck with a straight razor, which she did fine on and then I got up to go pay. I usually pay $15 when I go there and I give a $5 tip because they do a great job. My total was $19 when I was done, which is fine because it did take a lot of their time but then she asked if I wanted to "add anything" (tip) I gave a $3 tip because I didn't want to be the guy who asks for a ton of stuff done to his hair and then doesn't tip.
Overall, I'm pretty happy with the cut and it only came out as good as it did because the guy came over and kept helping me and, in the long run, saving my hair. If I had let the lady continue cutting, I probably would've had so little hair on the top of my head. ( I have shoulder-length hair ).
( I say "the guy" a ton because I don't actually remember his name, but there are 4 guys in there that I've seen so far and all of them know what they're doing so you can ask any of them. )
So basically what I'm getting at is: Don't be afraid to switch your barber or ask if a barber is new and don't be afraid to question how your hair looks and make adjustments because, if I hadn't done that today I would've seriously regretted it.
Anyway, the guy fixed my hair and made it look great and the lady did a fairly decent job trimming it; there's no patchy spots or anything major, but the guy definitely saved me... I'm going to continue going there because they're extremely friendly people and they're engaging and have conversation. I'm mostly mad at the fact that they gave me a barber in training without telling me and almost seriously messed up my hair and then charged me more than usual for it. read more
