This was my second time visiting Michael and once again he exceeded my expectations! He is friendly and always up for good banter while giving you your award winning cut. Moments after leaving I sent a picture to my college group of friends and was immediately flooded with positive comments on my new look. Even a female friend of mine said, "I wish you looked this good in college and maybe things would be different", which hurt my feelings a bit, but regardless, I look amazing now thanks to Michael. I thought it was a bit high, but I had been out of NYC for 7 years and accepted it, and that included a tip. I next went in July, got pretty much the same (simple) haircut and that cost $41.57, again with a tip. Much more reasonable I THOUGHT. I went in October and was charged $66.69 without a tip! WTF? I didn't go there to get SCALPED! Guess you won't miss 3 visits a year.

That system allows you to choose a specific barber and time, but if the barber doesn't actually check or honor those appointments, it defeats the purpose. The first two times this happened, I got a haircut from the other 2 barbers in the shop; one the first time, the other the second time. The results were ok--not bad, but not at the same level as Yuriy's work. The third time, Yuriy again didn't show up, and one of the other 2 barbers called him. Yuriy was apologetic, and asked me to come back the following day at a specific time, which I did, but once again he didn't show, and after waiting around for 15 minutes, I left. I don't mind trying different barbers, but once I found a barber I like I prefer to stick to him. if I book a specific person and they repeatedly fail to honor appointments, it feels unprofessional and unreliable. At that point, there's no reason for me to keep booking here when I could just walk into another shop. It's unfortunate, because Yuriy is truly very good. But unless the booking system and reliability improve, I can't recommend this barbershop if you want a specific barber to cut your hair.

NEVER LET LOUEY TOUCH YOUR HAIR I recently visited Jacks barbershop with high hopes after hearing about its high reputation. However, my experience turned out to be extremely disappointing. Louey's claims of being a great designer were far from reality, as he failed to deliver a haircut that met my expectations, let alone the style I had requested. Not only did Louey showcase a lack of understanding of basic haircutting techniques, but he also seemed disinterested and inattentive throughout the entire process. It was evident that he was more focused on boasting about his supposed skills rather than delivering a satisfactory haircut. I am deeply disappointed by my experience at Jacks barbershop establishment. Loueys false claims of being a great designer, coupled with the subpar haircut he provided, indicate that he is nothing more than a FAKE BARBER. I would strongly advise others to seek out a more reliable and competent professional who can deliver the desired results and prioritize customer satisfaction. read more

I am new to the neighborhood and decided to test my luck on a new barbershop and I have to say, amazing experience at Jack's. I had let my hair grow during the pandemic and even though I wasn't clear on how I wanted it cut, John figured it out and haven't been happier with the way it came out. As for my beard, Isaac was the person that handled the trimming and was equally as detail oriented. I have no doubt that any of the guys cutting here can do good work. Overall, a great vibe and place that does spot on haircut styles for a good price. read more

TL;DR: good place if you've got nowhere to be. Bad idea if you're working toward a schedule
