It's definitely not the same as it used to be; donuts are a bit drier. Cake donuts are still good - very dense. But most everything has experienced 30% or more "shrinkflation".... prices are the same as I remember from a year or two ago, but now everything is about 2/3 the size it was. They now sell "short johns" as my daughter calls them, and the yum-yums are now about 4" long instead of full sized twists. The service was great, but the quality of the products just isn't where it used to be. read more

Not sure where to start except to say, I don't understand all the reviews saying these are amazing donuts. I have been twice in the past month. The first time I didn't arrive until 10am. I got a few donuts and two small ($10/each) cheesecakes (which I thought was a little pricey, but thought we'd give them a try. Neither was worth anything. Dry, almost seemed old. I decided I'd give them one more try and got there earlier (7:30am), thinking they might be fresher. Nope. Still just as stale and dry. There is an older woman in glasses (owner? Idk) who I have never personally interacted with, but both visits seemed very unfriendly to her staff and also seemed annoyed by the customer she was helping. It's hard for me to say this, bc I love supporting small business, but these are not good donuts- you'd be better off stopping into price chopper or quick trip. read more

Thought to try a new donut shop. Selection was slim, but the donuts tasted good. Sadly though the girl that took my order seemed rather annoyed and bothered that she had to take my order. She rushed me to make a decision and it seemed like she couldn't get me out the door quick enough. I was the only one there too. Small town donut shop in a strip mall...just what you'd expect for good results... I got pretty lucky, arrived at 7:45 on a Sunday morning, as I was leaving at 7:55, the line was 7 deep with several cars parking in the lot. They had 3 people working the counter, so service was quick. Several dads were there with the little ones, grabbing breakfast so mom could get a few extra minutes of sleep. Now for the donuts, several varieties, glazed, filled, fritters, long johns, turnovers, muffins, and more. We grabbed two dozen, and my son quickly ate a glazed, maple long john and apple fritter...after he removed the feed bag, jinxed he doesn't speak while eating...he commented...those are really good, better than quiktrip..? Yes, much better... I ate a coconut sprinkle iced cake and a cinnamon roll, both were very tasty. The iced cake had a slight crunch to it, not that mushy oily taste some cake donuts have... Slivinsky's is a full service bakery, they also had bread, cakes, turnovers, and several other options I did not try. It's a little bit of a drive to Kearney, but I think it's worth it... Today was the first time I have been treated like a dumbass because I wasn't completely familiar with their donut selection. Thought I had avoided the wonderful "midwestern hospitality" we are all so familiar with at this establishment but alas, it reared its ugly head yet again at Slivinskis! The donuts are good- we have been here several times and have yet to be disappointed! The low rating is for service. Today we went in around noon, and the girl was irritated from the beginning. We bought a dozen and my daughter bought a half dozen. When she totaled it, my daughter paid 70 cents less than we did. I questioned the girl (she didn't like that either), and she said "that's the price per donut". I should've told her to load up 6 more and we will give her 70 cents. Best donuts I've had in awhile! Popped in yesterday morning to grab some donuts for a group helping us move. Everyone loved em! Aside from the delicious donuts, I wanted to write this review to compliment the great customer service. The two women working up front were extremely friendly and helpful. It was the morning of the Jesse James parade, so the place was very busy. I came in with my toddler on my hip and purchased two dozen donuts and a coffee. The woman who helped me (I wish I got her name), without hesitation, offered to carry my donuts out to my car while I got my coffee. I was so impressed that she went above and beyond the call of duty to help out a customer! Without her, I probably would have had to make two trips or risk dropping something or having my one year old walk out next to me. Great donuts and great workers. Thanks for fuel to get us through our move! Will definitely return when we are in the area. read more

I have now, for the third and last time, tried Slivinskis' cake doughnuts. On my first two trips I thought maybe they had a new cook or something went wrong in the baking process. Today's doughnuts confirm they meant to make their cake doughnuts like that. They are the most greasy, worst doughnuts I have ever had. I feel sorry for the people writing the favorable reviews. I hope that someday they have a really good doughnut and realize how bad these are. Leave one on a paper towel for a few minutes and see how much grease oozes out. Take a bite of one and feel your mouth become coated with a layer of grease. They are sooooo nasty !!!!! I wish the doughnut shop that was across the parking lot from the old John's Super would re-open. Based on what I have tried from Slivinskis', I'm sure they will never make doughnuts that taste as good as the ones those people made. If you are new to the Kearney area, or just traveling through, get your doughnuts from QuikTrip or PriceChopper. Unless you enjoy a thick layer of grease in your mouth. read more
