A Spectacular Journey Through Washington, D.C…read more The views throughout Washington, D.C. are nothing short of breathtaking. I started by taking in the skyline from a rooftop, which set the tone for what would become a truly unforgettable tour. The vantage point from the Marine Corps Memorial was powerful and inspiring, with Arlington Cemetery stretching solemnly behind it, reminding me of the deep history and sacrifice embedded in this city. Standing at the Lincoln Memorial, I was able to see the iconic sweep of the National Mall, the Washington Monument rising proudly in the distance. Walking down toward it, every step felt like strolling through the center of American history. Cutting across to the Jefferson Memorial, I was greeted by a beautiful structure perfectly reflected in the surrounding waters--absolutely outstanding. From there, I could look back across the Mall and glimpse the White House anchored in the heart of the capital. That view alone was gorgeous. Approaching the Washington Monument up close was awe-inspiring, its height dominating the city's horizon. The next day, I continued this incredible journey by seeing the White House from all sides--the north, the west, and the south--each angle offering a different look at one of the most recognizable buildings in the world. Finally, strolling down the streets lined with federal institutions--from the Department of Labor, to the IRS, to the Securities and Exchange Commission--really showcased the power and importance of the nation's government at work. And as a perfect finale, I arrived at the magnificent Capitol Building on Capitol Hill, standing proudly above it all. From start to finish, the views around Washington, D.C. are stunning, historical, and moving--a visual reminder of the incredible story of America.

This is the perfect place to bring new visitors to this area to see all the major landmarks all at once. Ofcr. Despite the city atmosphere, parking is pretty decent and the Rosslyn Metro is right across the street.

The Iwo Jima Memorial is directly opposite the Top of the Town building. Floor-to-ceiling windows look out over the Potomac River and have views of all the significant buildings in Washington, DC. The inside is spacious - we had 92 guests seated at ten tables, and there was plenty of space for the dance floor, drinks table, and dessert table. We also took advantage of the outside patio because we had great weather, and after sunset, many of us went outside to watch the full moon rise. Catering was provided by Genesis Delight Catering, a company that has experience serving food at TotT and knows the kitchens. The event staff at the TotT are experienced and friendly and will ensure that your event is the best it can be. We enthusiastically recommend this event space. Sheridan Dalier, the event coordinator at TotT, provided generous assistance before our event when we were in the planning stages. She was friendly, experienced, and very helpful. When we learned we could hire Sheridan to help us during our party to take care of the final set-up, last-minute fixes, and any surprises, we gave an enthusiastic "Yes, please." For example, she ensured the audio-visual system had the correct cord to show our slides. She kept track of the gifts we received. She handled questions and requests from our guests. As the evening's event coordinator, Sheridan's help was important, making a great evening even better! We enthusiastically recommend Sheridan Dalier's services as event coordinator.

I tried calling before going, no answer. I tried ordering online, their website said the system was unavailable. We went and ordered take out and it look 40 minutes, when there were maybe 5 people inside. On top of that there was a 20% fee added for the takeout food which is crazy to me. (also it's a lounge so my man was patted down by security.. crazy just for some food) The only upside was that the prices were cheaper than they were at the H Street location. The Jerk Mac Box was $15 , as were the Jerk Nachos.

Overall, I'd say it's not high on my list to return to. 1942 has a small "rooftop" area - there is a semi covered back patio that seats approximately 15 people. Unfortunately, the music that is playing inside from the DJ doesn't get played outside very loudly so the space feels pretty disconnected from the main bar inside. Also, the space isn't very large; after a few minutes of sitting outside another group came outside to smoke (not hookah or cigs) which made my group retreat back inside to get some oxygen because it felt like they were smoking right on top of us. Bar service was good overall - the bartender move through drinks orders quickly and warmly. We had 3 drinks for $40ish which unfortunately is the standard for the lounge vibe spots. I'm always impressed when bartenders make their own lemonade for drinks - my whiskey/lemonade was delicious. The DJ inside was on fire - played a nice mix of top 40 hip hop and rap, trap, and dancehall music. We wanted to dance but unfortunately there wasn't much space upstairs. 'A' for atmosphere though - could've definitely gotten a party started had there been more space. Worth noting - the bottom floor was 100% empty. So maybe that's the option if you want to have a bit more space to dance and spread out? There is very little standing room upstairs - if you're not seated at the bar or at a table, downstairs may be the better play.

We did and I'm glad. The bar area was cozy but it was nice and we were able to find a place to sit while we waited for our reservation time. That place gets very busy since every one is doing the same thing -waiting for their performance. The view of the river and the planes coming in was phenomenal Al. The atmosphere was just adults all have a good time. I enjoyed the vibe. Our waiter was great, the hostess was great. No complaints at all. I had the jumbo crab cakes(see pic). They were very flavorful and did nit need the sauce. I had that Ali g with a Caesar salad which was large enough to share. Also, the crème brûlée with a coffee. My total came to about $108 before tip. Not complaining it was a great evening, great food and great company.

It's a campus for all people breaking the barriers between the audience and art. The campus itself is three buildings above ground and a world of theaters, spaces, and classrooms underground. Every element on campus is named after something in JFK's life. For example, one of the classrooms for children is named Macaroni after Caroline Kennedy's pet horse. These rooms host local artists offering dance classes, performances, and more. The designer wants visitors to pay attention to what's there and what's not. To that end, there's lots of open space. It's a beautiful space truly for the people.

The view is spectacular. Sometimes you can even see guard walking on the White House roof! Food is good. Servings are decent and the flavor is fresh and inviting. Truffle fries are delicious! And if you know DC, then you know rooftops are not rare. They are everywhere. So the real question becomes: what exactly makes your rooftop worth it? Because let me tell you--VUE Rooftop is not it. Now, I will give credit where it is due. The atmosphere was nice. It was busy (expected), crowded (also expected), but oddly... no music. No available seating. Again, not shocking for a day like that. Fine. I make my way to the bar. I order a vodka water. Let me be very clear--a Tito's and water. H2O. Not infused. Not blessed. Not life-changing. The bartender was actually great--friendly, accommodating, even went to the kitchen to grab cucumber for me. No complaints there. When he asked if I wanted to start a tab, I did what any rational adult does--I asked for the price first. He smiles politely and says, "With taxes and service charge, that'll be $33." I'm sorry... what? Please refer to the picture I posted because I need witnesses. Thirty-three dollars. For a 6 oz drink. Y'all, I wanted to cuss so bad, but I also wanted Yelp to keep this review up--so just imagine the words I'm choosing not to type. Absolutely not. NO. SIR. Close my tab immediately. I turn to my friends to share this nonsense, and my friend casually says, "I just paid $130 for three shots and a vodka tonic." At that point, we were not just shocked--we were offended. There is nothing--nothing--about this place that justifies those prices except the fact that it sits dead center in tourist territory. And they know it. And they are banking on it. Shame on them. Do yourself a favor: keep your coins. There are plenty of rooftops in DC with better vibes, actual music, available seating, and drinks that do not require a small financial commitment. This one? Hard pass.
