I attended a birthday party at Kidcreate this weekend. The studio itself is really nice very cute and well laid out but the experience was honestly disappointing. The teacher running the activity had very low energy and didn't seem very engaged with the kids. At most birthday parties I've been to, the instructors are upbeat, encouraging, smiling, and clearly excited to be there. That just wasn't the case here. The kids seemed fine, but as an adult, it was noticeable. What really pushed me to write this review was how the end of the party was handled. The owner/teacher told the birthday child's mom ...in front of guests...that the party time was over and that the kids needed to take their food to go because she had only paid for a set amount of time. You could tell the mom was embarrassed and trying to keep it low-key, but it felt unnecessary and unprofessional to handle it that way during a child's birthday party. If you're looking for a warm, friendly environment with some flexibility and good customer service, this isn't it. I won't be returning. read more

Had a birthday party Sunday which is 2 hours 13 kids. With the package it includes goody bags and the making of slime and the package includes 10 kids and $33 per extra kid. We did not need goody bags and for some reason were not offered the option to make slime . Each kid was allowed to decorate an apron with markers and depending on the theme selected the character would be of the kids choice for creation. For this particular part they did ninja turtle themed so each child painted a turtle. The total ended up being roughly $650 in total and during the party we were assigned one teacher and two assistants. There is not ample space for parents to stay so the teacher asked that we either find a place to sit in the corner or leave and come back. Fine by me read more

We hosted a birthday party for our daughter at Kidcreate Studio Alexandria. The craft itself was fun and well organized, and Diane did a great job leading the kids and helping with setup and cleanup. I had seen a prior review mentioning rigidity in policies, but moved forward with booking and hoped our experience would be different. Unfortunately, the overall experience was affected by rigid policies and communication issues. Because the party was a surprise and we were traveling from about an hour away, flexibility and clear coordination were especially important. The studio does not open until exactly 10 minutes before the party, and I was not allowed to drop off items early--even though the space was empty when I arrived and the door remained locked until the exact opening time. There was also a miscommunication about the party schedule. Three days before the event, I emailed the owner explaining our plan for food delivery at 5:50 pm and received a response indicating that was fine, without any clarification. No one reached out to confirm details, and phone calls were not returned. As a result, I was informed--within earshot of guests--that the party had to end at 6:00 pm or we would need to pay an additional $75. While the activity itself was enjoyable, the lack of flexibility, poor communication, and high cost for what is offered make it hard for me to recommend booking a party here. With better customer service and clearer advance coordination, this could be a much better experience. read more

I don't usually write negative reviews LOL says everyone so let's call this a heads up. I went there on Wednesday for the wee Littles open art day and come to find out you can't pay with cash you can't tap you physically have to hand over your credit card so that the lady can type it in. I was like hello did I walk into the 1980s? As I have two 18-month-olds trying to grab it everything because they wanted to paint. For whatever reason she kept telling me the credit card information was wrong, well it's the one I use all the time and I just previously used it that morning so I know it wasn't the credit card. If you're okay with handing over your credit card and waiting for someone to type the information in I'm sure you'll have a fantastic time.. on a side note the lady that was trying to help us was extremely friendly and she seemed just as flustered as I was... I mean you can go to the farmers market and everybody there has some sort of tap and pay and if it's a financial decision then perhaps maybe you should look into venmo? I don't think that costs you anything. It did look fun and I'm sure we would have a great time and probably have gone back many times. read more

Love this place and can't say enough nice things about it. I have two boys who love arts and crafts and this place always delivers. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The owner Diane is very approachable and kind. We like to do the drop in classes and summer camps. My sons love it! read more

We attended a birthday party today where the children made a Minecraft activity and a slime. The people were slightly late this meant the children were slightly rowdy because they had been waiting for the party to start. The older gray haired lady is quite Curt, unkind, unyielding, and unflexible. when a child wasn't satisfied with their work and wanted to try again, she simply would not allow them to let them sat there and cry. It was simply cold, unnecessary, and unkind. As an educator, I was open mouthed. The mom's watching her behavior certainly wouldn't hire her for a party after watching that behavior. we all felt the need to step in and help the little boy be successful. She then attempted to try to tell the mom that he simply needed a nap as if he was a two-year-old child. thankfully, her partner was far less cold and callous. but that was not a seller as far as a way to bring in buisness claiming that you don't have enough supplies to let another piece of paper be handed to a child is a pathetic excuse for letting a child have a discouraging artistic experience read more

Very rude, unwilling to make any adjustments/credits for sick children. Just care about taking your money. After I was up all night with 2 young and feverish children, they told me I wasn't a good fit for their type of clientele because I wanted to reschedule. Zero flexibility with changing a class and again, very rude and disrespectful. read more

This past weekend, we had Kidcreate at my daughter's 6th birthday party at our house. They brought everything needed for an awesome craft, helped the kids through it and cleaned up after. Tanya and Casey were great with the kids. Meanwhile, the parents were able to chat and drink coffee! Diane from Kidcreate was very responsive and helped with the coordination. We love KidCreate! We've visited during open paint with our 6 and 4 year olds, and they had a delightful time. So delightful, in fact, that we also booked a mobile art party for my son's 4th birthday! It was such a hit. We spaced the kids out at their own little tables, and Diane at KidCreate took care of the rest! She arrived right on time and quickly had the kids making air clay magic. At age 4, some kids were more into having an "activity" than others, but everyone who gave it a shot was so proud of his or her creations! Diane also brought all the aprons and clean up supplies needed - you never would have known that 10 preschoolers were making art in my house! Definitely recommend. I took my 6-year-old to a Mother's Day parent and child class. It might have been my favorite thing we've ever done together. Felt safe and socially distanced, the number of attendees were manageable so that we all got individualized attention as needed. Most importantly, my son had an absolute blast. By the time class was wrapping up, I was being bombarded by questions like "Can we come back tomorrow?" "Do we have to leave?" "Can I have my birthday here?" "Can we bring my friend next time?" With virtual school and kids being home, I think they're really starving for a creative outlet. Kidcreate provides that. Highly recommend Kidcreate Studio, and its owner, Diane! With the COVID-19 global health crisis, we were concerned that we would not be able to safely celebrate our little one's birthday with friends this year. However, we were wrong! Diane made the process simple and she was extremely accommodating. We were able to host a virtual birthday party (first time ever) that was such a blast! Truly much more fun than we expected. Our little one had dozens of projects to choose from. We then provided Diane with the addresses of our local friends who could attend. She personally delivered all of the materials that were needed to everyone local in advance. For friends that were out of town, she mailed them the materials. The teacher we had, Sydney, was excellent! She was energetic and enthusiastic and kept everyone's attention. We ended the party with the creation of slime, which everyone loved. Our party consisted of 5-7 year-old children and the feedback was great! We are definitely looking forward to signing up for additional virtual classes this fall and will look forward to participating in-person once the world is normal again. Thank you Diane!
