This review is from 02/2024 and I accidentally posted it to the wrong Slim Chickens location. By the way, Slim Chickens may appeal to folks who love a variety of sauces! I just don't happen to care for sauces in general. I still liked my visit to this Slim Chickens! I went last Sunday after going to a 3-hour movie with my best friend. I was excited to try this restaurant because my brother-in-law said it's delicious. I wanted this as something quick on the way home. I just told the manager I don't want to read a big menu. It's my first visit. I'm just looking for (in a discreet voice) a Chick-fil-A type sandwich plain fried and not spicy. He was so kind and he told me what he would recommend. I got the combo so my friend could get a diet Coke and got my condiments and waited - not for long. They got my order mixed up and thought it was in-restaurant when it was to go. No big deal. They came out with a boxed-up combo sandwich with fries and drink and the kind manager brought it to me and was so sweet! He offered me a free brownie since it was my first visit. Again great service and kind people. But the sandwich was very subpar. It had some gristle. It was not brined. The chicken was not flavorful. It traveled well. It didn't reheat well. I made myself eat the second half of it the next day for lunch I can't recommend the chicken sandwich here. Maybe it's a personal preference. I don't know. Go for the service. Your experience may differ. The restaurant was clean and organized I didn't use the restroom and can't comment on that. They were doing a bigger diver through business than they were in house however, there were several folks dining in house. Hubs ate the brownie and didn't really if it was good. It looked good! I've been a regular customer here for a long time, but the service has gone downhill. It was one thing when my wings order was consistently wrong (at least a dozen times they couldn't even count to 8), but today I was argued with by an employee who insisted I had placed my order wrong. That was the final straw. I've always enjoyed the food, but the way this was handled makes me not want to come back. read more

I've been on a chicken tenders kick lately and was pretty excited to see a new tenders restaurant in Madison. When I saw Slim in the name, I immediately thought that it was going to be a skinnier version - grilled, baked, I don't know, just not the usual fried fare. I was wrong - it's predominantly fried chicken tenders and wings. In fact, I don't think there was any other chicken except fried. I would really have been thrilled to have another option. The drive thru was arranged to get you through as fast as possible. I was five cars back and it did take several minutes to finish, but honestly, it wasn't bad. I ordered the Classic Meal - 3 large tenders, fries, Texas toast, sauce and a drink. It was huge - maybe not quite big enough to share but definitely more than I'd normally eat. It was very reasonably priced at $7.59 - this would definitely be a at least a $10 meal at other tenders restaurants. The food came out hot hot - too hot too eat right away yet much appreciated after eating so many lukewarm meals lately. The fries were crispy, the Texas toast grilled perfectly and the just right amount of sauce. (I ordered the slim sauce and didn't like it at all but there are a lot of other choices available). Where the meal fell short was it's centerpiece - the chicken. The breading wasn't very crisp and the chicken, while juicy, was really tough. So tough that I gave up eating them after about 1 1/2 tenders. Even with the positives, it really brought the whole meal down. Further, I was given the wrong drink - sweet tea which I loath - and ended up spilling out the whole cup. Slim Chickens seems to have a lot of potential but execution just wasn't there. This is their 2nd day and I was impressed. Excellent chicken, huge quantity of fries, 2 good sauces, and excellent texas toast. They were busy, but the drive-thru line moved fast. They had runners bringing drinks and food out to the cars to serve everyone in parallel vs a serial process. Extra management was on duty to manage traffic and resolve issues. The 5 piece chicken tender box, known as Slim's meal, and a regular drink were $10.51. Looks like they hid the 3% Cliff Farm Developer's fee in the price of the meal based on the receipt. There are a lot of chicken joints in the world...this is a relatively new one to this area. They have some serious competition, including some local businesses that are phenomenal. I'll look beyond the newness and growing pains and review just the food...from a first time perspective without expectation. I ordered 5 chicken tenders and 5 wings with ranch chips, toast, ranch dressing, and slim sauce...with a sweet tea. The grilled chicken tenders are a 3/5...the tenders had tough ends that you don't want to eat. The chicken was good, just not enough because of the gristle. The Slim Sauce was a disappointment to me...it was slightly sweet with no spice. That gets a 3/5 for me. The wings BBQ flavor was fantastic! The wings were not very meaty...again lots of gristle compared to what you would expect. That drags the wings to a 3/5. There is a trend here. I guess they didn't name it Slim Chickens for nothing! :) The ranch was among the best I've had anywhere--5/5. The chips were really skimpy on any seasoning...2/5. The Sweet Tea is not competitive for this market. Our taste buds are accustomed to significantly more...that gets a 2/5. The toast was nothing to write home about...3/5. If it had been fresh and hot I'd give it 4. Price rounds it out as a solid 3/5. There you have it--my first Slim Chickens impression. It left me wanting more, but to each his/her own! Will I be back? We finally braved the long line and gave it a try. To our surprise, inside seating was not bad at all. We walked in, ordered and sat down without wait. The chicken is a great quality and a nice size portion. Some places around town are now cutting the tenders in half to save $$. I really enjoyed the different sauces they have too. i went there tonite, oct.6th at 5 :56 they weren't the busy but i ordered 8 chicken wings and they were horrible!!!! tasted like a chemical in the wings, i did not eat them!! i ordered an arnold palmer, sweet tea and lemonade and it was horrible, like instant barf tea with watered down lemonade!!! not ever going back!!- wasted money for bad food and drink. read more

They officially open this Monday the 10/18/21 but had a friends and family day this past weekend. We were able to come and experience the food. Let's start by saying I'll be there on Monday. Chicken strips are delicious. We tried the chicken and waffles, chicken strips meal (includes toast and fries), and chicken strips and wings meal (comes with fries and toast). Meals also come with drinks. Food is absolutely delicious...10/10. My husband said he wouldn't get the wings again because they were bland. They do offer several sauce choices and he tried 3. Servings were plentiful that we had leftovers. Everything else waffle, fries, chicken, toast were spot on perfect. Juicy, very well seasoned. Driving up I said it smelled like a old church mother was inside frying chicken. IYKYK... What to expect from a new restaurant. New teams who are still learning menu, systems, and rhythms. Wow... no words to begin. This place is absolutely amazing and definitely worth it. The wait was short. Also, the price is a little high for "fast-food" but the quantity of food is HUGE! I could eat a classic (4 tenders) meal in two separate sittings. Everyone is so nice and overall contribute to a nice and relaxed atmosphere. This is the 5th time I've been here and today I got the chicken and waffles. It's a pretty easy meal you can't mess up on and boy-oh-boy did they deliver. The waffle was hot and the perfect balance between crispy and soft. The tenders were fresh and seasoned very nicely. Together, it was the perfect sweet and salty combo. At some point during my visit we were approached and asked if I needed anything which was super helpful. Afterward, my S.O. And I decided to get a Oreo cheesecake jar and it really finished off the meal. In love with this place. Great job slim chickens. read more

Slim is the word I would describe the chicken sandwich . Thin and hard is the other two words. Chick fila need not worry. Neither should Popeyes Fries were crisp but all stuck together. Bun was stale and fell apart. Judging from the drive up line I got the wrong thing but I will stick with the other two for a chicken sandwich read more

The food at Slim Chickens is really good! I'm a fan of the Slim Salad (fried or grilled) and love their wrap options. Wings are also solid. The thing that led me to 4 stars is the drive through line. Highly recommend ordering ahead through their online system as they are usually right with their time prediction! The drive through has taken me 20+ minutes with every visit. read more

This place has changed in the past 6 months. New management and staff. Haven't ate here in months due to how the former management team ran the place. Employees used to sleep in the booths, smoking on the patio, food wasn't good. Came back tonight, greeted by a manager named Stephen, food was amazing, staff was friendly. A new and welcome addition to the Madison area at the Clift Farm development. We dined in and found the inside to be modern, open, clean, and well-lit. The service was fast and friendly. We were greeted immediately and able to order promptly. Our food was to our table hot and fresh within 5 minutes. The tender meal and wings meal were both delicious and well seasoned. Their milkshakes are also very rich and decadent. We truly enjoyed how friendly and positive the staff was during our visit. We'll be back! read more

New restaurant on 72 by Clift Farms!! Every time I passed Slim Chickens since their opening, no matter the time of day, the drive-thru line was wrapped around the building! Seeming like it was worth waiting in line, I was excited to try it tonight for dinner. Things that were great: -Even though the drive-thru line was very long, there were cashiers walking along the line of cars to take orders on tablets and we only waited in line to get our food for around 10 minutes (at peak dinner hour!) -my husband really enjoyed his salad with grilled chicken -my Buffalo grilled wrap was delicious and filling -menu and sauce choices are extensive, so there is something for every palate and even several dessert items I would like to try on a day where I have run a few extra miles :) -reasonable prices- our meal for 2 was under $20 Things that were not so great: -while a good portion was included, the fries were not fresh at all...kind of cold and hard -ZERO masks or social distancing was observed at all by staff or customers inside the restaurant. Not a deal breaker for me, but covid-conscious customers may want to be aware! -the tablet cashiers in line were taking my order wayyyy ahead of where the menu QR was displayed in the drive-thru. I appreciate the hustle, but if I weren't the type to decide what I wanted to eat before we even headed to the restaurant it would have been a hassle to order without a menu option. We really like the chicken tenders here. The tenders are bigger than Zaxbys, but smaller than Champys. I also enjoy the salads they have here, very fresh and filling. The last two times I ordered the strawberry salad with fried tenders. It was delicious! read more

Husband wasn't keen on his chicken sandwich. I loved my salad THOUGH I ordered grill chicken and ended up with fried and the dressing was incredibly runny. But that +$3 Mac and cheese takes the cake. Literally about 4TBSP of Mac and cheese. You can do better. read more

Everyone that works here is so nice. We've had countless positive experiences here. Most recently, I placed an order for curbside, a nice gentleman brought it out, and I headed out. Well, about two minutes later I get a call. Turns out I had gotten the wrong drink, and the man called me just to tell me, apologize and offer compensation. I told him not necessary but it was so sweet to take the extra step like that. He was genuinely so sorry and I told him no big deal!! Love this place. When it first opened, I wasn't exactly excited about another chicken place, but let me tell you, I think it's the best! Brioche buns, delicious chicken, and amazing sauces. They are consistently good and definitely my go-to when I'm in the mood for a good chicken sandwich. For this to be a week old fast food restaurant, you would think they would try harder. The first issue was when the girl taking orders decided to chat with the people in front of me. The line is already long. And now they are shooting the breeze!?! A co worker had to tell her to move it Along. New restaurant in Cliff Farms. Think Zaxbys and Tenders cool cousin. I can't speak on the inside since I did a curbside order online. However, before I could press 'I'm Here' someone was at our door asking our name. I like that they have cameras there so you aren't just waiting for someone to bring your order. Now about the food...! If you're looking for extra wet extra crispy wings this is not the place. Their wings remind me of Publix's non-breaded wings. Good but nothing fancy. I will say the wings are large! And the flavor is there. Inferno is HOTTT. It's not saucy so you won't die but you'll definitely need some water. I got a side of Korean BBQ and I wish I got more bc that was really good! Fries are seasoned well and the tenders are good too. The Slim sauce is...different. Taste like Mayo and Ketchup got added to Zaxs sauce and not for the better... Chicken sandwiches are good; kinda small. I had a couple of bites that were just bread. Clutch for a quick chicken sandwich if Chick-fil-A is busy. Overall - go! Skip the slim sauce and try out their other sauces. You won't be disappointed. read more

The chicken was fried too hard. Maybe it was just opening day but the chicken was dry and tight to the bone.

We always love slim chicken's. We got to try it out on their friends and family day and we have been back so many times since they opened. They are always quick, and yummy. They do get very busy sometimes and like every where it's not perfect, but we've never had a problem with them. Everyone that works there is awesome! read more

We went to the one in South Huntsville Al. It's new here so we were excited and they did not disappoint. The food was super fresh and so delicious! I got the buffalo wings and was very pleasantly surprised at how big and meaty they are. All other wings in this town are puny and dried up. My husband got the chicken sandwich and absolutely loved it. I can't say enough good things. The staff was very friendly and courteous. It's always jam packed but hopefully after the "new" wears off it will quiet down a little. I will just make sure to go in the in between hours. Will definitely be back. read more

I've seen this place as I've driven by several times, and my fiancée and I decided to take the dive as we were out running errands and wanted something quick and we remembered this spot. The service setup for the drive thru was well planned and executed. The menu straightforward and with plenty of options. She got the fried chicken salad and I had the Slim's meal with 5 tenders, toast, fries and the cayenne ranch. She said her salad was good, she was happy about the variety of greens and cabbage and lettuce that was in it and happy it wasn't just iceberg lettuce. The meal I had was also great, batter on the tenders was well seasoned and flavorful. The chicken itself was tender and moist. Fries were crispy and cooked perfectly. The sweet tea will give any southerner's homemade sweet tea a run for it's money. Pretty sure this place will overtake Zaxby's and Chik-Fil-A no problem once the customer base realizes what they have and how good it is. My only complaint was the cayenne ranch wasn't anything special. No noticeable cayenne taste, slightly reddish in color but it tasted like normal ranch to me. I stopped in for the first time to try them out. I went to the drive-thru, and they had someone standing outside taking orders. The employee was standing 50 feet from the drive thru menu, and the young man did not have a copy of their menu with him, so I'm not sure how I was supposed to order when I'd never been thete before. He offered to tell me "some" of the menu items, but I had no interest in sitting there while he tried to remember what's on the menu, so I just left. They need to fix their drive-thru system. read more

Drive thru was so rude, talking over me when i was trying to order, so I had to leave my car and go inside. When I went inside and explained what happened everybody apologized except the manager who gave me a look like I was the problem. The food was hot and fresh. My Cayenne Ranch chicken sandwich had a wonderfully toasted bun with a perfectly cooked chicken breast. The fries were seasoned perfectly and were cooked to perfection. Every person I spoke with was kind and helpful. I would definitely suggest this establishment to any friend of mine that wants a new and tasty chicken restaurant to frequent. Since opening recently, my husband and I have eaten at this location 5 or 6 times already. Let's start with dessert first as that is the very best place to start...life is short, after all. We have tried their chocolate chip cookie and their white chocolate macadamia nut cookie. Both are scrumptious! As far as the main attractions, we have tried the Crispy Chicken Sandwich, the Cayenne Ranch Sandwich, the Slim Wrap, and our regular - the Chick's Meal. As far as the sandwiches go, the Cayenne Ranch was probably our fav, but if we were going to get a chicken sandwich, I would opt for the franchise down the road from them. By far, their chicken tenders are fantastic... nice and moist and juicy. We have tried their fries, ranch chips, and fried okra. I'm not a "fry person" but their fries are good. The best side is their fried okra. Service is good and help has been friendly. They could use a better curbside pickup area but other than that a big thumb's up. read more
