Sausage and egg on jalapeño buttermilk biscuit
    Lash K.

Love me a good breakfast sandwich so decided to give this place a shot! It feels like sandwiches are the go-to thing in Toronto, so I'm on a quest to find my favourite sandwich. Price $8-$20 per person Items ordered: -Sausage and egg on jalapeño buttermilk biscuit Food Quality (Menu, Taste, Portion size) - 4/5 The Menu has 3 breakfast sandwiches, plus a few lunch sandwiches, pastries and coffee. The jalepeno buttermilk biscuit was definitely the star of the show, made in house and incredibly soft and buttery. It is a decent kick so watch out if you aren't into spice. The hot honey was a great added touch. The chicken sausage was good, but I think if it was bit more meaty/oily it would have worked with the spice better. I want to try the bacon next time as it might compliment the biscuit better. The size was the same as a normal breakfast sandwich I'd say. Atmosphere - 5/5 It was an old school vibe, typical of what you'd see in Kennsington. The vibe was really nice. Not much room into eat inside, so recommend grabbing your food and going to a park near by. They sell their own merchandise. Service - 5/5 The staff was really friendly. Very helpful when giving suggestions. They handled the crowd well as it was sorta packed. Will I go again? Yes sir! Need to try the bacon version! Went on a solo Kensington market adventure and stumbled here looking for breakfast. The line fairly long and there is not much seating inside the restaurant. From the time it took to line up, order and get my food it was about 20-25 minutes (just a heads up for those who are hoping for a quick 'in and out' breakfast pick up) I ordered the: 12oz Viet Iced coffee - $6 - the Viet iced coffee was decent, it was strong and wasn't very sweet, I personally like more condense milk for Viet coffee (6.5/10) Breakfast sausage and egg biscuit - $10.50 - The Sausage and egg were cooked on the grill, served with melted cheddar and hot honey. I ordered this sandwich with their Cheddar and Jalapeño biscuit. It was absolutely fantastic! The hot honey was such a nice addition for the breakfast sandwich, the portion was also really good and the cheddar jalapeño biscuit was delicious! (9.5/10) Ordering the sandwich with their Cheddar jalapeño biscuit was also extra cost, but worth it in my humble opinion. The wait was pretty long and the coffee sandwich was not cheap but it was really good! I recommend trying! In total I spent $21.45 after tax and a small tip TL:DR There's no option to give 4.5/5 stars but will leave the review a 5. I was really impressed by how delicious their breakfast was! I just thought the Viet coffee was mediocre in comparison to the breakfast sandwich!

Unreal breakfast sandwiches. I lovedddddd the sausage, egg & cheese sandwich. The atmosphere of the shop is somewhat chaotic because it is so small that it feels overstimulating. But nice for grab n go!

Chicken sausage + egg breakfast sandwich was delish! Hashbrown was just a deep fried cavendish frozen patty, nothing too special but still solid. Overall the meal was super heavy, but still pretty good. They need some pickles or some sort of acid to cut the richness.

I hadn't heard of Sleepy Pete's until a few days ago, but given the crowd we saw during a recent visit, I must be in the minority on that score. We arrived around lunchtime on a recent Saturday and the place was packed. So packed, in fact, that we waited almost a half hour to order and receive our food! It was totally worth the wait, though. We decided to share a couple of their offerings, the Sausage & Egg Sandwich ("Chicken sausage, egg, hot honey sauce, and Kraft cheese on a homemade biscuit") and the Fried Chicken Sandwich ("Breaded chicken breast, hot lemon pepper sauce, pickles, and mayo on a jalapeño cheddar biscuit"). They're both absolutely phenomenal. The Sausage & Egg Sandwich is so much better than most other breakfast sandwiches, mostly due to that delectable fresh biscuit and the uniquely-spiced (and absolutely addictive) sausage. The Fried Chicken Sandwich is just as good, if not better. All the components work really well together, but the star here is that chicken. It's perfectly breaded and that breading is just so zesty and tasty. I actually wound up taking the sandwich apart so I could eat the chicken by itself. It's that good. I'll hopefully return really soon, because their other offerings sounded just as appealing.

Located in the heart of Kensington market, this small joint serves various breakfast sandwiches on biscuits. They gave me the option of jalapeno cheddar or buttermilk biscuit. The girl at the counter acted like she didn't want to be there, and she seemed annoyed when I asked questions about the menu. I got the egg and cheese breakfast sandwich with a jalapeno cheddar biscuit. It came with a perfectly runny egg. I found a biscuit to be quite sweet and the taste completely overpowered the egg (which was not salted) and the cheese. I wouldn't say it's the best breakfast sandwich I had, but I appreciate that they made it fresh. The price for a breakfast sandwich was higher/average for a local spot, about $10 after tax. There's self-serve water, salsa, ketchup and hot sauce if you choose to dine in.

The chicken sandwich was spectacular and arguably one of the best I've ever had! Lemon pepper sauce was zesty and flavorful. The sausage biscuit was good but nothing out of this world. Very busy and not much seating so definitely a to go spot.

This is a breakfast and lunch restaurant in the Kensington neighbourhood. They opened on 2023-06-26. It is a small restaurant. There is counter seating indoors, and there are two benches on the outside. The customer service is courteous. They have scones with jam, breakfast/lunch sandwiches, salads, and hit/cold drinks. Prices are reasonable for this inflationary era. I ordered a scone ($4.00) along with Blueberry Jam ($1.00). The top of the scone was tasty. When I ate the scone with my jam, it was delicious! For jams, they have orange, pear, and blueberry; they are homemade! Apparently, they will introduce more flavours in the future. I happened to walk by after eating lunch, so I wasn't that hungry. I will have to come back to try their lunch sandwiches. There is no free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, but there is no door-open button. There are no washrooms. There is paid neighbourhood street parking. Review 2023-221

Loved my bacon egg and cheese biscuit. It was prepared in front of me and ready to go in just a few minutes. The bacon was so yummy.

Tucked away in the old Seven Lives spot on Kensington Ave, we now enjoy the luxury of Sleepy Pete's. It's primarily a morning spot, which makes this stick out like a sore thumb in a neighbourhood that isn't big on mornings, similar to Queen West, it's a sleep til noon and roll out of bed area to put it mildly. If you are up early with visitors, or need to stretch your legs before work, this is a morning spot worth checking out and making your favourite. What caught my eye on first visit was the $5 Special that included a fresh made scone, jam and coffee. In an era of Starbucks prices everywhere, this is a bargain that is unheard of. Many places can charge you that just for the baked good. And the coffee is good here! Their signature is the scone here, which they ace, but hang on, they nail other things perfectly too. Dreaming of those delicious looking scones with jam, I went here twice and both times that dream was derailed by the savoury options. The first time I had the house-made chicken sausage gravy on biscuits which was mind-blowingly good, with little specs of chicken sausage to chunk it up, and flecks of red chilis throughout the gravy... man that was a satisfying brunch! Spicy, delicious and extremely hearty, it didn't sound like a meal at first but in fact was amazing on its own, with a coffee. The second time I opted for the fried chicken sammie. In this genre Toronto has so many choices it's overwhelming. But this example is my favourite lately. Last week I finally tried Chick-fil-a chicken sam, their classic deluxe with a slice of tomato and cheese. While it was good, it was like comparing a McDonalds hamburger to Ozzies hamburger. Not really the same thing, only same-ish in name. Firstly the bun is not a regular bun, and is more like corn bread where it has similar texture and breaks part easily. Doesn't squish down like a bun, and instead falls into pieces. Then the chicken, a massive chunk of moist white meat, coated in a layer of a dry dark brown breading mixture that has a touch of crunch and then a spoon of spicy bbq sauce drizzled on it. Incredible sandwich that made dinner later on a moot point. It seems to me it was a Nashville hot chicken sam, similar to what I've tried at Turkey Point beach. The side included with the sam was a hash brown similar to a McDonalds but way better in that it still had some moisture to it and could break apart into tiny bits. My combo drink of choice was their coffee which I need to find out which one as it's really good! If you like hot sauces, there are a few Mexi ones to try that will satisfy you 100%. This meal made me forget all about the sweet scones, but I did snap a picture of the blueberry scone which I'm sure is amazing and I plan to go earlier in the day so I'm more likely to get that. Service here is fantastic. Very friendly and they seem part of the neighbourhood with many people engaging in conversation as they come in and take a starring role in this great part of Kensington life where "all the market is a stage".

A great place for one of the best breakfast sandwiches in the city. We tried to go early in the morning, but it was still quite busy and the kitchen felt very lively. We got a bacon and sausage breakfast sandwich and both were extremely filling as the biscuit was huge and the housemaid honey was a really nice touch. I feel like you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I'll definitely be back for another sandwich sometime.

Especially liked the artwork and table with their name on it. I had the Nutella latte, Nutella and strawberry waffle, and a side of sausage. Didn't like the sausage at all (tasted a bit gamey) but that's probably because ein the states there are nitrates, etc that make it taste better. No biggie! She switched it out for bacon, and that was fine and appreciated. My sister had the breakfast tacos that looked delicious and she really enjoyed. All in all this was a great pick and I would return when im Canada ever again and I'm in the area. Keep up the great work, Pierina. Once I got back to my hotel, I settled in to enjoy and get some work done. My latte was smooth and creamy and just what I needed to get my day started. My raspberry croissant was beautiful and packed full of flavor. The filling wasn't too sweet and there was just the right amount inside. I saved my cookie for a snack while I traveled home later that day. I love how it had chunks of sugared ginger on top. A quick Yelp check pointed me to this spot a brisk eight-minute walk from Queen Station on Yonge, and I'm so glad I made the detour instead of heading to one of my usual haunts. I was seated immediately. The place has lots of seating -- high tops, tables and booths -- and a cool, eclectic vibe: comfy chairs, interesting wall photos, eggshell light fixtures and cheerful yolk‑yellow and orange tones. Big glass windows make it a fun people‑watching spot, and the open kitchen lets you see the cooks hustling away. I ordered the classic breakfast (just over $18): two scrambled eggs -- soft and perfect -- plus herb potatoes fried in beef tallow (I swapped those for lightly dressed artisan greens). You choose your protein -- bacon, Canadian bacon, rosemary ham, chicken, or pork bangers -- and I went with the hardwood‑smoked bacon: three perfectly cooked slices. Coffee was ethically sourced, and my mochaccino hit the sweet spot -- not too sugary. All in all 10 out of 10. I plan to try their gluten free waffle next time. Extras worth noting: they offer booze, smoothies, juices, and a $4.75 "coffee bump" (1 oz of Irish cream, Kahlúa, whiskey, bourbon, brandy, or Grand Marnier). Eggs are free‑run. Service was friendly, efficient and knowledgeable -- got me in and out without feeling rushed, back at my desk before 1 pm. I'll definitely be back -- next time with friends so I have an excuse to order everything on the menu. Highly recommend for anyone who needs a well‑made, comforting breakfast-anytime (and possibly a legal excuse for a midday coffee bump).
