I make the commute to Niagara often and struggle to find a place for lunch or brunch just off the QEW. No more. Its the Skyway for me and my wife and family. Family restaurant that first of all puts a carafe of coffee on your table when you arrive. Winner! Rarely done in Canada. Nice job. The staff are friendly but not eager, but that's ok, you expect good not great service in many diners. The bacon and eggs were perfect. Big think crispy bacon and just right scrambled eggs. Toast was smothered in butter and they had marmalade as an option on the plate. Who serves marmalade any more? Well, these guys. Why? Lots of seniors. As my departed aunty used to say, look for seniors and you'll find good food, lots of it and great prices. Place apparently is redone. Parking in front and in McDonalds parking lot next door. We will definitely stop in again.

There are two dishes I judge a dinner breakfast for, either a great Monte Cristo or a great Corned Beef Hash. Since a Monte Cristo was not on the menu I ordered the Hash and hands down it is the best I've ever had. No doubt about it being made Fresh and to order for me. The poached eggs were perfect and the coffee could not be beat, especially since they brought the carafe and plenty of cream and sugar. Forget Starbucks, diners have the best coffee. Bright atmosphere, kind and attentive staff, and oddly, at 55 I may have been one of the youngest patrons. Also of note, there was a group of "elderly" ladies eating at the table near me, and as they were preparing to leave one of them plopped herself on the opposite seat to me in my booth. She was waiting for her lunch club ladies to get ready to leave. I jokingly said that if she stayed much longer she would have to pay for my lunch. Pleasant conversation ensued and I discovered that she and the ladies have know each other for 48 years and they still meet once a month. Also that she is going to the doctor later today because she has an iron deficiency and as such are liver and onions for lunch. I told her I'd stick to Corned Beef Hash myself, thank you :)

Really enjoyed the food. The menu is not too overbearing and has just the right amount of choice…read more(although no turkey or beef sausage/bacon options). The food is really good however, both in presentation and taste. Service wise, the staff was very friendly and polite, although there was a 20 ish minute wait for a seat for 2 and another 25 minute wait to get the food. Granted we did go on a Sunday at 11 am so it was probably the busiest time of the week and the kitchen is perhaps on the smaller side. The ambiance itself is pretty homey, street parking isn't too hard to find. They sell some near merch and also source bread locally from a bakery nearby. Their patio was closed in the winter but definitely seems like a great spot in the summer. Overall, I enjoyed the place. The lack of non pork protein options keeps me away, but should that change, I'd like to revisit the patio in the summer. Should the protein options expand and wait times be reduced on my next visit, I'll be sure to update my review!

We loved the salad and scarfed it down - super crisp, awesome textures, tangy yum. I love their pasta so much and it's fun to see how they prepare and serve it. The shrimp were super small which made eating the dish easier. The flavors were delicious and I was left with lots of extra sauce. I should have asked for a side of bread to soak it up. I had a delicious highball with root beer and fernet. Service was excellent as usual. Love the vibes and tunes. The patio is gorgeous as well. Looking forward to more. Bonus points for serving the surrounding neighborhood - very convenient, needed, reliably fresh and delicious.

Pretty good Wimpys Diner. Great for All Day breakfast…read more Staff are always friendly and there are plenty of seats to choose from inside. Everything has always tasted great and I've never had an issue with the food.

This location is just newly opened but for me Wimpy's brings back some good memories of the days…read morewhen I'd go to Wimpy's twice in the same day for their huge burgers. This was a very long time ago in another city. Their burgers these days come in 2 sizes which are a 6 or 10 oz size. For the metric people a 6 ounce is still larger than a quarter pound (4 oz) and a 10 ounce is basically more than half a pound (8 oz). Sorry metric people I can't give it to you in actual grams. While the food doesn't look like the photos in menu when you get it (what ever does?), Wimpy's still has a large menu of choices with better than decent food and good sized portions. It's been years since I've been to a Wimpy's so being back was as nostalgic as the decor. Sure I'm not as old to know such thing as 5 cent Coca Cola's and things like that but Wimpy's does feel like a 50's style diner that you see in the movies and such. Old style table tops, and bright colors, chrome accents and other touches inside are the entire ambiance of this place. I had went with the Tex Mex burger, 10 oz version and added fries as my side. For those that have not experienced Wimpy's before know that the 10 oz burgers are long, oblong in shape and basically overlap the bread by about a 2 to 1 ratio. What that means is yes, you could fold it in half and create a double burger because the patty is that large. The Tex Mex includes chipotle sauce, cheese, bacon, banana peppers and it's big so I ended up cutting it in half to be able to eat it without the thing sliding all over the place. Sauce and those toppings would do that you know. The fries are of a nice thickness also they're fresh, hot and steaming. That's exactly how I like my fries. The service was extremely friendly and fast. We were asked by 2 different individuals if everything was OK and it was better than OK. While the food is not really exceptional such as gourmet or out of this world special, it's certainly not dull or completely an everyday generic experience overall. The nostalgic ambiance, charm and friendly staff bring this place up to a 4* easily because to me, Wimpy's is not just your 3* "just OK" kind of place. It's nice to be back even though it's been well over a decade since my last visit to any Wimpy's.

I was looking for a place that served all day breakfast and stumbled across this Daytime Grill…read morerestaurant. It's nestled in a plaza right beside a Starbucks. We arrived and the place was totally empty. Deserted is the best way to describe it. We were directed to sit anywhere we liked and were given a handful of menus. The reason I say "a handful of menus" is that it seems this restaurant serves the usual fair of western breakfast and also serves Chinese food. So there are various menus to choose from. So now I'm a bit worried. Sometimes when places try to cover all of the bases by having a huge menu their food can be mediocre. Anyways. Nice older Asian lady takes our order. She goes back into the kitchen and cooks up our food and returns lickety-split! Everything was delicious. Coffee was fresh and always topped up. My eggs, bacon, and sausages were great, and my companions French Toast was also very good. TLDR/Long story short: If you want some yummy breakfast come here! I definitely will! 10/10 would noms again

This is our go-to place for breakfast and Chinese food. It's like having two restaurants in one -…read moremore breakfast places should do something like this for when their space sits empty after 3. First, breakfast. I would recommend the exactly meat lover's mix (with lots of different meats and some vegetables mixed into eggs), the standard bacon and eggs, or the banana bread french toast. They also have sandwiches, burgers, and more. The prices aren't bargain level, but aren't out of line with other places. I find their portions better than some restaurants in the area and, unlike the chains, a piece of bacon is a normal-sized piece of bacon. Plus, many breakfast places say they close at 3 but won't let you order after 2. This place isn't rushing you out the door. That said, if it's getting later in the afternoon, it can be challenging to know when their breakfast cook is still available. But, worst case, order Chinese! Speaking of which, they have a good selection of the usual Chinese fare plus an authentic menu for when you're eating in (mmm beef hot pot). I find their food more flavorful than the big takeout and buffet chain, with a hint of garlic (I think) in the chow mein. Everything noodle-based is good, with generous portions. It's not my favorite egg roll flavor but I also have trouble finding one like my favorite. The prices aren't Chinatown level, but seem in line with the big chain and other non-Chinese restaurants in the area. Two items feed two of us well (maybe too well) with potential leftovers. For ambience, the restaurant is more diner-like than fancy-shmancy. Sometimes it's too hot or cold, and if they haven't turned the fan on, smoky, plus sitting near the door might invite drafts. You might get your food super-quick if there are few customers, but sometimes it can get busy when the owner is there working alone and you might have to wait a few extra minutes for help. They're generally doing their best. It looks like the hours on the listing are outdated. They're usually closed Mondays (except sometimes on holidays), open until 8, and you should be safe for breakfast until at 3 on weekends - sometimes you're running late and get lucky. Overall. I'd recommend this restaurant for breakfast and dinner. We keep coming back and bring others there too.
