I reached out this company, based on the reviews here. I had a sales person attending and doing the measurement. I proceeded with order and made the initial 50% payment. The terms indicate that that final payment is due on installation, I get calls from the scheduler indicating that in order to get scheduled for installation, I needed to pay ahead of the installation. Their terms specified that final payment is due upon installation. I called my sales representative and explained the situation and advice I did not like how the scheduler was managing the request, I still get a call today from the sales representative calling for payment again ahead of the schedule, when the terms are different. They are saying she is just being proactive. I just don't like when the process is not follow and simply they change their own policies for their own benefit. Still, I am looking forward to get a really good product installed, but just this situation prior installation is annoying. read more

After 15 years of ugly blinds, we finally replaced the blinds in our living room and bedroom and ended up choosing Skyline Window Coverings. I shopped around and had a few companies provide us bids/advice, and I thought Tim at Skyline was the best. Extremely friendly and knowledgeable. He followed up after our initial visit in a friendly, non pushy way and I appreciated that. Skyline was also very competitive (and even a bit cheaper) than some of the other companies in the city so that was an added bonus. We got the Hunter Douglas Designer Screen Shades as we have extremely wide/tall windows to cover. We did 0% View Thru for the bedroom and 5% View thru for the living room. So many options and colors to choose from at Skyline. We've had the shades for a few weeks now and they are great. I wish I had done the 3% for the Living room, however. It lets in too much light with the East View and there is glare on the computer. We were so torn between 3 and 5%. Live and learn! But then on a shady day, the 5% is great to see the skyline! So many different automations / controls / home features that make these shades very durable and reliable. The install was quick and easy and the two guys who did it was very pleasant and walked us thru everything. I think Skyline did a great job - from consultation to install to having great product. Spent over 10K on 13 shutters. Horrible product. Shutters warped. Broke constantly. I think the company initially measured some windows wrong as some shutters fit too tight while others were fine. When window openings expanded and contracted, often unable to move louvers. Seizing up caused many to break when trying to change angles. Spans were tool long which caused noticable warping after a few months. Should have shortened spans and added more doors. Sale folks were always qilling to help rectify but its like slapping lipstick on a pig, Crappy product. You would think after spending over 12K there would be no problems. I often thought the company should have replaced some of the problematic shutters. They never offered so I never asked. Good service, Poor measurements/excessive spans/fragile product. Overall, not happy with purchase. read more

The blinds themselves are nice and exactly what I wanted for my space. My issue came recently this summer (1.5 years from installation and just out of the warranty range) when one of them came loose from the ceiling. I am being charged $185 for a technician to come out and fix it. It is disappointing that this issue is happening so soon and that the price for it is that high. read more

Our whole experience with Skyline Window Coverings was stellar. Tracy was our specialist, and she was fantastic. She took the time to get to know us, and our needs. She had preliminary phone calls with us before even coming to our home. She listened to our questions, concerns, and revisions with patience and understanding to create our final quote. Tracy was a great team player and, when her team member couldn't make our appointment, she rolled up her sleeves and did the measurements herself. We made our decision to work with Skyline based on the whole package of customer service, not just price. When Ado came to install the shades, I was so impressed. I didn't have to ask him to take his shoes off, he had already taken them off. He even laid out a blanket for his tools and equipment so our hardwood floors wouldn't get damaged. He installed the shades quickly but with exceptional precision. After each installation, he vacuumed each area so it was clean. He left our place cleaner than when he started. Once he was finished, he took the time to explain how the shades work, the automation, the integrations, and how to get help if anything goes wrong. Solar shades at 5% + blackouts blinds in 3 bedrooms. I got 2 in-home quotes on the same day. At first, Julie gave us the bells-and-whistles, then found us the no frills we preferred visually and financially. Final quote was about 5% higher than the competition but for Hunter Douglas product rather than discount brand and she listened better then the competition. Worth it to me! Excellent communication from her and office support through the order-to-install months. Bedrooms had old curtains and blinds, probably dating to 1984. Now the rooms look bigger and fresh, though it's obvious now we need to repaint! Ouch. Installation parameters might have been 1/4" tighter, but I'm not sure my 100 year old windows would allow, since there are no right angles anymore, or what HD factory +/- tolerances are. Leveled perfectly, though, and that counts for a lot. Installer missed a few pieces of old hardware, but I removed them in less than 5 minutes. Installer wore a mask and took off his shoes, both of which I appreciated. Friendly, and gave good instructions for future care. Photos are from a gray day in Chicago. I have more windows to do. Fabulous service from Jennefier (yes that's how her name is spelled) from coming to my condo and helping me select from a variety of fabrics for my bedroom windows and my floor to ceiling patio doors and windows in my living room and dining room. She was very patient and helped me find just what I had in mind. Michael came to install the blinds and I can't say enough on how kind, professional and efficient he was during the install. Excellent Consultation! Uncompetitive pricing I had three different consultations and quotes I received through Yelp including Skyline for Skylight Window Blinds. Jennefier was the Consultant who was sent to my house. I thought Jennefier was great. Her expertise and presentation were better than any of the other experiences we had (loved the instant proposal onsite, the electronic measuring of my windows, and her ability to show me what the proposed products would look like on her iPad, and her general expertise and customer friendly demeanor). Unfortunately, the pricing was significantly higher than the other competing proposals I got (all were Hunter Douglas room darkening manual honeycomb blinds - which Jennefier told me to look for and confirm). Well over 65% higher! Unless I missed something else that could have justified the massive price differential, I had to go in another direction. But again, I was really pleased with the experience and if your pricing would have been more competitive, would likely have gone with you. read more

Skyline to the rescue! We had been dealing with old Graber power shades that were a nightmare. They were not always responding to the remote, they would roll up crooked and eventually, we just stopped trying to use them. Chrissy from Skyline came for an in-home consultation and took into consideration our existing paint color, our southwest exposure, and our very tall windows facing a busy intersection when making her recommendations. Her sample books were huge but she didn't overwhelm us with choices. She showed us how the darker or lighter colors would affect the room when open and closed. Her suggestions were perfect which made it easy to feel comfortable with our final choice. She offered details on how to get the best fit in the windows by suggesting we remove a small piece of trim. We decided on a "top-down, bottom up" shade that would help control the intense afternoon sun while also allowing us to maintain privacy by just lowering the top portion of the shade. We also opted for the full powerview system and hub so we could easily control them from our phones or ipads while in the home or even when away. Mike called when he was on his way to my home. He was very professional in his installation. He took time to protect our new floors from ladders and tools and was very detailed in his approach to the install. He took his time to show me exactly how to use the app and the powerview portion of the shade, which wasn't hard at all. I was creating new scenes myself right after he left. He used a very cool 360 degree laser light to check the level of all 6 new shades to ensure they were perfectly matched. He didn't leave until I was totally comfortable with all the products. He even helped to integrate our older hunter Douglas shades in the guest room with the new hub. We couldn't be happier with Skyline or the product. They were installed just a day before the coldest weather Chicago has had since the 80's. The insulating nature of the shades did wonders for the sub zero temps. They make a huge difference in the winter. We raised just one shade and immediately, we felt the cold air from the window. There's a reason this company has so many perfect reviews. Skyline installed all of the window treatments, blinds and shutters in our gut-rehabbed house in early 2017. Chrissy and her colleagues came and walked through fabric and finish options with us, made suggestions, and were very helpful and professional. Michael and his team came to install everything a few weeks later and we were so pleased with how everything looked and worked that we asked them back in fall 2017 to install some additional motorized blinds where we previously had faux-wood blinds. They are very responsive in all cases. I have to give particular kudos to Skyline's lead installer Michael, who has come back several times over the past two years to address some minor issues with hardware for a couple of the blinds and one more serious issue a few months ago with the battery pack for one of the motorized blinds. On several occasions, he's dropped by and made the fix without additional charge to us, which we really appreciate, and if there is a minimum charge for the visit, he'll do everything he can possibly do while he's here to help, including changing out batteries. I wouldn't deal with anyone else if we have additional window treatment needs in the future or decide to make any changes. read more

Everyone I interacted with was professional and friendly, and the installation went well. My automated shades worked very well for about a year and a half, but then they started squeaking as they go up or down. The way they market their warranty is a little misleading -- parts and labor are free for 10 years, but there is a quite expensive "trip charge" for repairs, which is basically just another way to charge for labor. I wish the company would stand behind their product a bit more -- it doesn't seem like my shades should be malfunctioning less than two years after installation. Update: I received a call from the company's owners because they wanted to clear up a miscommunication about what my repair options were. I greatly appreciated how proactive the owners were about addressing my concerns and presenting me with more options to resolve the problem that I have. Revising to 5 stars. read more

From the moment we walked in the door of Skyline in Chicago, we felt welcomed and as if our needs were as important to them as they were to us. We were shown a large array of drapery fabric options that worked with our décor and budget as well as receiving helpful advice. We were never pressured or upsold. Once we made our fabric choices, Vanessa Courtney came and did expert measuring and walked us through the entire process and timeline. She was always friendly and professional. The draperies for our bedroom and living room were completed on schedule and were installed expertly by Mike Rivers, another friendly and very competent professional. We used Skyline to install new window treatments in a house we just moved into. Some windows had old treatments, some didn't have any. Also, all of the windows are different brands and installed at different times, so each window treatment was a little different from the next. We worked with Lara, and she really took the time to show us all our options and to make sure she had the exact right measurements for each window. (FYI, they only do Hunter Douglas products.) It took about six weeks I think to get everything installed, but the finished product looks amazing. Seriously, I can't believe what a different a nice clean window treatment makes; it changes the whole house.
