I had a leak in the roof near my chimney flashing, and the job required more expertise than my handyman felt he had. I had a few larger roofing companies come out to give estimates, and all were either unwilling to do smaller jobs or had prices that seemed far too high for a relatively minor leak repair that was almost certainly caused by sealant failure. Elk came out within a couple days of my initial call (this was a minor leak and did not require immediate repair) and performed a thorough inspection of my roof. They agreed with my assessment that the leak was relatively minor and due to sealant failure, although they noted that some of the decking surrounding the leak would need replacement. They provided a very reasonable estimate, which included the full cost of materials. I hired Elk for the job and all work was completed within the week. Elk removed the shingles from the surrounding area and replaced the damaged decking with new plywood. They even took the time to match my shingles perfectly, ensuring that the repair would not be visible, and did a superior job flashing the chimney. It has been more than six months since the repair and I have had no further issues. After the job was complete, Elk took the time to help me store the excess shingles and plywood in my backyard shed, just in case they are needed for future repairs. As a bonus, they were less expensive than any of the big roofing companies I had out, and the contractor who did my job seemed far more experienced/knowledgeable than the technicians who provided my initial estimates. I was very pleased with the prompt, professional work I received and would definitely hire Elk again!

We hired Miguel and his company to replace our roof, soffit and gutters…read more The good: he was quick to start the project. The bad: He never finished and what was finished looks terrible and doesn't work. Miguel's first crew ripped off the roof and put a new one on. But he roofed the whole house and then took the 2 chimneys down. So, I have a ton of broken shingles because my roof has been walked all over as they took the bricks down. And, he ripped the shingles off the back of the house from walking on it. There are also dips in the roofs where they patched the roof after shingling where they removed the chimneys. The gutters...they were attached to the roof. Instead of detaching them the right way, they just cut them off with metal shears. He needed to remove the gutters, add decking and then attach the gutters. Now there is a gap in the decking with no shingles, causing water damage. They tore out all the soffit and facia when they were only supposed to replace missing soffit. The gutters were supposed to be seamless, but they bought a kit. The gutters leak and aren't attached to the house. They installed the drip edge behind the gutter and now I will have rotted facia. The downspout on the front wasn't attached and they used a brick on the sidewalk to stabilize the spout. The downspout was also installed backwards so the upper section was over the top of the bottom sections. Miguel made a feeble attempt to make it right, but then just left the job undone. I still have gutter pieces laying in my backyard. The gutters leak and aren't attached. The roofers left roofing nails and garbage. I had to get my tire fixed because I ran over a nail. Every time it rained for a few months I would find roofing nails. Do not use this company. Miguel said he would do the work, but he subcontracted it out to people who had no idea what they were doing. Now I have an unfinished roof, soffit and gutters and no company wants to take the job on because it's going to be a lot of work.
