My husband picked up dinner and got him a 3 way and me a baked potato. When he got home I opened the potato and it was black inside!! They had cut the potato, so they knew it was rotten, and served it anyway! When we drove over to get our money back the manager only offered to replace the potato or give us the money back. No apologies for us driving back. No apology for the rotted potato! My husband told her the right thing to do would be to refund all our check, but she refused. She said we had the 3 way. This place was a solid 3. If you are familiar with the franchise then there are not many surprises to the food flavors or the way they are presented. Lots of cheese, which I love and overall a decent quick meal. I had the salad which tasted fresh. It was also a nice sized portion for the price. The dressing came in a package on the side which I was fine with. I also had a burrito which was very bland even though it had habanero cheese. The beans inside the burrito were also hard? I wish I didn't have to make this review, but this was a bad experience. I came over the weekend and purchased an original deluxe burrito. The order taker was nice. However. Every time before I have ordered it, the box is filled up. The burrito is usually a decent size. This time, the toppings were very much skimped on and the burrito was less than 1/2 the normal size. This appears to be an example of shrinkflation or somebody needs retrained. I have supported this location since it opened. If this is the new standard, I won't be back. read more

We've been going to this skyline since we were in high school. They used to be located up in the southwest corner of sr725 and sr741. The store on Kingsridge is bigger but just never felt the same as the previous location. They've always been pleasant and quite honestly my favorite skyline as the owners always would give a heaping mound of cheese in my ways and/or coneys. They'd tell me they'd get letters from Corporate about overdoing the cheese so that seems to finally be in place as they are now about the same size as all of the skylines I frequent. I've been to every one except for the ones in Florida. I'll get to them some day. Unused to keep a map of them but now they are opening all over so my obsession of going to them all has subsided. I will always love skyline. So... my 2nd favorite part of this store is the fact that they have a carrier that contains 6 variations of hot sauces. They are delicious! My favorite is Mikes(#6), it is spicy, salty sweet and smoky and i pour this and the normal skyline hot sauce on my food. Give it a try. read more

Alright, I'm giving this place 3 stars with the understanding that maybe my taste buds are just not acclimated to Syline because I'm not a Cinci native....but I wasn't the biggest fan. I did not like this combo but it's what they're known for so maybe it's just a personal preference... Coney - A little hot dog with chili and cheese. Not too shabby. Chili Dip - Cream cheese with chili and melted cheese served with tortilla chips. This was the best go the items I tried at Skyline. The melty cream cheese mixed with everything else was delicious and perfect to share with the table. Skyline Chili is one of the few fast food I can do. I stopped for a wrap and was I ever surprised. I have never had one before. I usually get a baked potato and salad. Since I was on the go, I decided to get a classic chicken wrap. Ummm wow! This is like a huge burrito! I was shocked. When I asked what it was ...chicken, lettuce, tomato, cheese, and spicy ranch dressing. Okay, sounds good to me. I ordered it and it felt like a brick. Look at my photos. Not sure how one finishes this unless they haven't eaten in a few days or perhaps just ran a marathon and neither of those are applicable to me. Thus, I made a valiant effort to eat this wrap and couldn't. It's tasty. The lettuce was crisp, the tomatoes, ripe, the chicken was seasoned with pepper and appeared to be white meat, the sauce was there but didn't seem spicy to me,(should have taken the offer for hot sauce), wrapped up in a large tortilla .Super happy to say this one place I can frequent for a quick bite and leave confident it will be tasty food. I love it when creators of whatever it may be are able to make it so that it's service is well-done while taking an alternate route to achieve it. What I mean by this is Skylines nontraditional take on fast food. Everything about it is unique. Examples... -Chili as the specialty -You get wait on -Pre-meal oyster crackers -and more... For me, I have to respect Skyline for taking this approach. It's rare to find these services in a fast food restaurant. I'm also a huge fan of Cincinnati, and since Skyline originated in Cincinnati (after the founders brought their recipe from Greece), it makes it even that much better for me. On to the food... I love this place. I always get the original 3 way. Never is there a shortage of flavor. The spaghetti is always loaded with chili and cheese... TONS of cheese. The Chili is obviously Skylines claim to fame and it's flavor is truly unique from any chili you will ever have. The recipe is secret, however, I feel there is definitely a hint of cinnamon that gives it a great taste. I've heard rumors also that there is chocolate in the chili, however, I'm not sure of the truth behind that. Skyline is a little more expensive than other fast food joints, however, it's totally worth it considering all of the above I have mentioned. Skyline is a must have if you're around SW Ohio/N Kentucky.... I'm not sure of it's other locations throughout the US, however, I believe this area is it's primary load for locations. read more

Very different chili, that's for sure. Not exactly my taste, but still a descent bowl of chili if you are open. It is billed as "Cincinnati" chili (who knew that was a style). Very different from typical chili you'd get pretty much anywhere else. Skyline's chili has a distinct cinnamon flavor, which works king of nice with the slight spiciness. I remember Skyline from my days of traveling to Columbus, so I have been here a few times before. My recommendation is to stay away from the spaghetti, I was convinced to get it once and immediately regretted it. First off, it's way too mushy. And second, spaghetti should not have chili on it. Another tip, if you need to have cheese, get it on the side, they ridiculously overload it on both the chili and hot dogs. It's unnecessary. Overall, not a bad option. read more

I was on a business trip to Dayton recently and everyone said "you need to try skyline chili". I am a chili fan but when they said, "you need to try the spaghetti topped with chili", I became very skeptical. Being Italian, that is sacrilegious! After careful consideration, I decided "when in Rome". It turned out to be really good and flavorful (I hope my mom isn't reading this). Definitely something different. I like to try and get a feel for the local "culture" whenever possible, so I queried some folks at the customer site about where I should and go they all concluded "Ya gotta go to Skyline Chill and get the 5-way". So I did. Well, if this is what local culture is around here then... uh... wow. The atmosphere is very fast foody, although there is table service. I did notice some personal touches to the decor reduced the franchise feel that is so prevalent. The specialty here is the chili, as the name implies, especially served over spaghetti. I ordered a regular sized 5-way with a garden salad with italian dressing and a bread stick. They serve oyster crackers while you wait for your meal, which was a nice touch, and the meal showed up surprisingly fast. The 5-way is spaghetti served with chili, onions, beans and cheese. Heaps of cheese. So much grated cheese it boggles the mind. Unfortunately they use an uber mild cheddar for this topping which is thoroughly lack lustre. They also heaped a mountain of the same boring cheddar on the salad. They definitely like their uber mild cheese here. I, personally, think they should offer a smaller amount of a sharp cheddar as an option, but that's just me. Anyway, once I got past THE CHEESE the 5-way was actually really good. Next time I think I'll just order a bowl of the chili - I have a sneaking suspicion it will remind me of the hot sauce on a Rochester garbage plate. I would have given Skyline Chili at the Dayton Mall 4 stars if the ambiance was less generican and would really look forward to visiting if the cheese was a little less abundant and lot more flavourful. Food was what you would expect, I personally enjoyed the chili quite a bit. What set this location apart were two things. First, it was a nice, clean location. Second, the service was exemplary. The manager overheard me describing the chili to my kids, who had never eaten there before, and brought over a small bowl for them to sample the chili. I love Skyline Chili. Being a Cincinnati native I just can't live without it. When my wife and I moved up to Dayton we tried finding a good skyline. Dayton Mall is the place! The employees are great. They serve the chili fast and correctly proportioned. They have great fries and pies also! I love this particular Skyline because they serve a great habanero hot sauce that's above and beyond their regular brand. You have to ask for it, but be careful, it's hot!
