For a miamisburg location it was very disappointing. EVERY single table was dirty. (There was only 1 single man in the restaurant eating when we ordered). My husband requested someone please come out and wipe a couple tables down. No one ever came out to wipe anything down. We could see the grill screen and they weren't very busy, employees were singing and dancing in the back, still no one ever came out to wipe a table down. We are done eating and still no one came out to wipe a table down. We are both in the restaurant business being servers and bartenders so we GET IT, but wow. That place needs employees who care. read more

Do not come here, service isn't the best and don't even try to come an hour before close. They constantly close their milk shake machine down earlier and just say it's broken. Famous for milk shakes, where are the shakes??? So annoyed this place sucks. read more

We love the prices! Burgers are excellent, I had chili, which was tasty, but on the soupy side. The fries were horrible, we ordered extra crispy, and we got soggy. One disappointment will not eliminate Steak & Shake from our fast food choices, but it probably will eliminate the combo meals. read more

We went through the drive thru and I got a cheeseburger combo with fries and Coke. It had been several years since I've been here. The burger wast delicious and the fries were good too. I forgot how skinny they were, so that took some getting used to. Otherwise, it was a great experience. read more

I will never in my life eat another morsel of shit from another Steak and Shake resteraunt. This is my first 0 star review. I just ordered an Egg Nog Milk Shake and a Chilli Bowl Deluxe and paid for it. All they gave me was a regular Chilli Bowl. I discovered it when I got home, and called them and just simply wanted a refund. They refused. About a month ago when going through the drive through, I ordered Chilli and It clicked I forgot to ask for crackers, So I excitedly said "oh yeah, Don't forget the crackers!" Talking to myself as much as anyone. I didn't mean to be rude if I was. The woman at the Drive through however was intentionally rude and gave me a scowl as she handed me my bag. When I got home I discovered that my crackers were all mashed to bits. So this is my 2nd time receiving horrible service in two visits. read more

Indoor now open March 2020. Order from a touchscreen when you walk in. Less tables. Go get the food when they call out your number. We sat for 40 minutes and watched five groups get up and leave and no one wiped the tables for the next guests. No employees out in dining area. Totally lost the 50's vibe. Too bad. If you have a hankering for chili with spaghetti, do yourself a favor and get it at either Gold Star Chili or Skyline. Pay the extra 2 or 3 dollars and have yourself a dining experience at the other restaurants. This dish at steak and shake is downright atrocious! The only thing you get plenty of is the spaghetti. The chili that was smeared all over with chili tasted Ike chef boy ar dee, no meat, 2 or 3 pieces of onions and a little cheese(I think). I learned my lesson with this one! Where they do shine, and why they are worth considering, is the steak burgers and the shakes. I got a single and it was good-sliced fresh onion, lettuce and tomato. Yummy! If you are hungry, try getting one of the double steak burgers. Forget the fries, nothing wrong with them per se but not worth the empty calories. My hubby & I arrived for an early supper & were seated immediately. Our server took our drink order while we perused the menu. We both ordered the $4.99 special which was a double steakburger w/cheese & a small shake. My hubby ordered a side of fries for 99¢. Our food & shakes came out in less than 10 minutes. My first time ever eating at a Steak'n Shake. I heard good things about their burgers and shakes, so being in town for a band competition, I thought I would try it. It was horrible. My burger looked worse than something from McDonald's. the taste wasn't much better. I got the guacamole burger and the guy on the line just put a blob of guac in the middle of the burger and slapped the bun on. Zero presentation. Big disappointment! *3.5 Stars* No frills, 50's burger motif with a modern twist kind of place. Reminds me of White Mana but not on the same level. The main item to order here is a burger...then maybe a shake. I had the double burger with cheese as I didn't want to kill the flavor with additions of guac or crazy stuff. The double is like having a single elsewhere. The good news is if you sit at the counter you can watch your burger being prepared. It's about half the size, smashed when completed...kind of disappointing but good nonetheless. I opted not to have a shake which I wish I went for one because they all looked delicious. For $4 you get a double burger and fries, freshly made. Not many fries though but for the price, you get what you pay for. Servers were friendly but the food did take a bit of time and the place wasn't even that busy. Enjoy! read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. I bought 2 Milkshakes 1 of them (The one I was Drinking) I started chewing on what I thought was peanut butter. No it was Flys. (Insects in my milkshake on the bottom of the shake. I swallowed a few because I didn't know what it was. We are emailing health inspectors and I'm contacting my lawyer first thing tomorrow morning. This is the second Steak and Shake we went to and literally stood at the front waiting to be severed while workers walked past us without asking if we needed to seated or wanted to order. This time we waited about 7 minutes in an almost empty place. At the other location we left after waiting almost 5 minutes when a couple that just walked in were immediately approached and seated. I was here at 7 AM for breakfast. The place was completely empty. The guy working the grill was very polite and friendly. Some of my favorite food when I am coming home from the bars in Dayton. When I worked at Masque I hit the drive thru every Saturday night, Open 24 hours 365 days a year. I ordered breakfast here once and it was greasy good, For dinner I go with grilled cheese and fries with a side of their yummy honey mustard dressing. That stuff is like crack to me. I love Steak 'n Shake. They've got a unique taste in the burgers and fries, and some of the best milkshakes around. If you're a fan of garlic the garlic burger is to die for! However, the drive through at this location is prone to mistakes. I don't believe it's difficult to put Swiss cheese on a burger yet this location absolutely refuses to do so for me. Showed up tonight with a group of about 15 or so. The employees looked scared and no one wanted to help us. One employee said he was going to hide in the back because they couldn't handle our group. We stood there for several minutes waiting while the employees just kept working and ignored us. Several tables needed cleaned off but no one was in much of a hurry. Anyways, I was on a long stretch of a deserted road (@ least to me, being from LA, it seemed deserted) during a thunderstorm looking for the trusted, tried and true McD's, when I happened to see a sign blaring "meals for under $4!" And "Steaks 'N Shakes". So instead of driving for who knows how much longer to get to mcd's, I decided to give this place a try. it's got that quaint retro johnny rocket-esque feel to it. as for the food, ironically, i ordered their "californian burger" which tasted sort of like if big mac and double double had a love child. the best thing about it was their service...but then that may be chalked up to this being in ohio where ppl have been extremely friendly. ok, a correction, my server informed me that dorothy lane is in fact one of the two major thoroughfares in the city. so go figure on my thinking that this was on a deserted road. nevertheless, i'm glad i got to try out steak n' shakes, which i'm guessing is like a ohioan counterpart to in-n-out. read more

One of the worst drive thru's on the face of the planet. I understand they cook burgers and make shakes to order but waiting 36 minutes when only 1 car is ahead of you in line is ridiculous. Management (if they care) should study what In-N-Out Burger and Chick-fil-A does for employees and efficiency. Only turning a handful of cars / orders per hour is a joke. So my boyfriend and I got a gift card to steak n shake for christmas, we figured why not try this one by our place? We both love steak n shake and have not gotten many chances to go out. We were greeted and sat. Then 15 minutes later...nothing...no I will be right with you, no drink order taken. We were still just sitting there being ignored. They were not busy at all and had at least 3 to 4 servers working. I could not believe it. Horrible customer service. When we got up to leave, no one said anything to us. Did not attempt to stop us. My Wife and I wanted milk shakes from Steak and Shake, so I drove to this location for an Oreo Mint shake for the Wife and a Strawberry/Banana side by side for me. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON? Both shakes were TERRIBLE! My Strawberry/Banana had zero flavor and a gritty texture. Wife's Oreo Mint tasted rotten. Oreo pieces were mushy and mint was barely there. They are either doing it all wrong or this store has changed the formula. YUCK!!! Fix this or never see us again. read more
