California is currently experiencing large amounts of rain and the Skylight is doing its job wonderfully so far! It looks much better than our original Skylight and we also added the solar panel. I searched Yelp to find a company to replace my 20+ year old skylights. Cody responded quickly and gave me an estimate. It took a couple of weeks to get the new skylights ordered and delivered to Skylight Service Center. The installation took about 4 hours to install two new skylights. The installation crew laid out plastic to keep everything tidy. The new skylight on the patio too a lot more work. The old one was leaking water during the rain. The wood framing of the skylight was water damaged and termite damaged. The crew installed new framing and painted it white to match the wood in the patio. The new Velux skylights are fantastic. I can look up and see the sky instead of looking at the clouded over plastic of the old skylights. Overall, I highly recommend Skylight Service Center. Great communication. Reasonable cost. Cody and his team at Skylight Service Center did an excellent job. We interviewed a total of three skylight specialty companies and found Cody to be the most knowledgeable and informative. Apparently, Cody originally trained and worked for Velux in Denmark, so he truly knows the product. Cody was very thorough in his presentation and explained what we did need (metal flashing kit) and his suggestion of the "Velux Solar Operable Blind for Skylight, Double Pleated White" shade. There was no sales pressure, just helpful suggestions, and insight as to the choices. The shade (remote controlled) works perfectly, and it adds a nice texture appearance when drawn in the evening. We really wanted good sun protection but gain the light in our living room. The old skylight (20+ years and bubble dome) was allowing too much direct sunlight exposure and bleaching our furniture and hardwood flooring. Cody assured us that the Velux glass would provide us the improvement we wanted, and he was absolutely right. We signed the contract and Cody was completely available and communicative throughout the manufacturing (in Denmark) process, shipping, delivery, and perfect installation. I had a bird or some animal peck a hole in my skylight dome. The skylight was probably about 20 years old and needed to be replaced along with another one in a bathroom. I think it was Nikita who came out and he told me one would need to be ordered due to being a custom size. They gave me some options and let me know what was possible. Good workmanship. Prompt and courteous service. The new skylight is a retrofit to replace an existing skylight. Some roof tiles had to be replaced, so the crew found the matching asphalt tiles and installed them perfectly. Because the skylight is a retrofit, things didn't match up perfectly, so I'll have have some drywall installed (Skylight Service Center doesn't do that). The good new is the skylight is designed to accommodate just such a circumstance. read more

I've had skylights installed in the past and for townhome I had three that were over 30 years old and in need of replacement. I Knew I wanted to go with Velux brand and I researched the product as well as install methods thoroughly. Work was done better than I expected. First off Cody and his partner are true to their word and punctual... that alone is a great endorsement but that's only the beginning for this team. I've never gotten skylights installed professionally, I'm more a DIY guy but this time we wanted the job done fast and thoroughly completed with revisions completed if needed. These guys were extremely accommodating, I had a request to change the skylight position by a foot which was going to be a lil' hassle since they already done 1/2 the work but I explained the legitimate reason and they understood. We worked out a solution and my request was completed with care. At this point I was impressed, these guys didn't have push back and the customer was king...I'd recommend them, and I have already. Ok, the finish work was spot on.... they told me the schedule everyday at the end of day, they even worked through some moderate rain just to stay on schedule. I am so glad I used Skylight Service Center to replace our leaky/cracked dome skylight with a new and beautiful velux skylight!! I wanted to wait until after the rain to do this review.., and the new skylight held up so nicely during the recent storms. I feel so much more at peace; no leaks as should be! They replaced our skylight in one day (less than 8 hours). During initial inspection, Cody explained in details what would be done and assured me that my flat-ish roof area can indeed use a flat skylight as it must be angled anyway when installed.
