7/6/2019 update. Your company did the work and it was CRAP. I have every right to post a review of the bad work your company did whether the contract is with my contractor or direct. Regardless CCS is responsible for the horrible job they did on my house. Oh and since it's been 1 1/2 years since you left the job I am adding a photo of cracking of the stucco in June. Stucco and color coat. David said "we've been doing this over 20 years. We could do it in our sleep". Well from bead blast to what they considered finished, this was a train wreck! Run, do not walk from this company. Read all the other reviews which are just as bad as mine. I was also told by Jason if I took my original one star review down he would "take care of it". We agreed (stupidly) to allow them to use one wall as a test wall. 8 layers of "glue" and color coat changed nothing. It was bad prep from the head blast that left uneven surfaces so I have a leopard house. Then they were going to "stain" the stucco! Their choice was Acribond from Vista. I spoke to the expert at Vista and said "we make paint and only paint. Acribond is a water thinned paint". So CCS's website says to never paint stucco. Hmmmm. Now I have one 1/2 painted test wall and 10 months later they never fixed a damn thing, and all of their work is cracked and now showing the old color. California Construction Services came out when they promised, emailed us a professional written quote, and performed the work as specified.  Their crew was friendly, competent, & skilled.  They worked with us to incorporate several needed last minute modifications.  They did a great job with the slabs and flawlessly protected our installed pavers throughout the job.  They cleaned up the work site and removed all of the construction debris.  Great work for a good price.  I recommend them and would use them again! read more

i hired California Construction Services in the City of Long Beach. I was referred to this company which turned out to be a bad idea. this company is horrible , one of the workers stole from me, I immediately notified Jason and Doug who is there boss and I made a police report. They tried putting up cheap insulation and I stopped that immediately. please stay away from this company. I reported them to the BBB. !! read more

I am writing this review after many years of having CCS do the job on my home. I really don't know where to start other than by telling you the experience I had on the entire project. I never met Ray. I dealt w Jason and David. I went with the low bid on the project which included roofing and stucco refinishing. I can tell you that the group will low bid the project and then have multiple additions as the project progresses making the entire project more expensive than other original high bidders. They will nickel and dime you to extract more and more money. They were to sandblast the entire house and included in that their incompetent sandblasters damaged the front picture window due to not masking properly and sandblasted the window . There was no way to repair the permanent damage to the window. They were contracted to paint the roof eaves and gave me a price for that paint job. When it came time to finally do the painting, they then asked me if I wanted the space between the eaves painted also...... they said that the price quoted was just for the rafter tails and not in between the rafter tails which was the eave area....that would cost more money... I needed the job completed and of course paid extra to get the entire eaves painted.... Overall, my experience w CCS was terrible, they will tell you theyre very experienced and have been doing the work many years but working with them was a struggle. Update, I posted an honest review and the owner commented that I was being dishonest. So I decided to offer photos. They speak for themselves. Keep in mind I paid an extra $1,000 in order for the company to take responsibility for the finished product and not blame the existing substrate, they promised they would get a level and totally flat finish if I paid the up charge. They got their stucco all over the wires and wood along the outside of my house, everything is lumpy and uneven. They also made an unintelligent comment about how I'm an attorney and if I had a legitimate complaint about their service quality I would have sued them. Just ask any attorney you know if this is true. I don't sue anyone for a few thousand dollars, it's not worth my time. read more

Well, it turns out that the security doors were also put in poorly and the windows started leaking at the first decent rain. This means every single thing they did to the house came out bad. Unfortunately, I don't want them to ever touch anything on my house ever again, so no warranty for me... Ray's response: Consumer is not telling the truth. He hired a bunch of non-licensed contractors who did horrible work and expected us to cover up their mistakes. We passed all our inspections that we were hired to do by contract. So...I'm the liar, huh? I hired California Construction Services through their salesman David Silverstein, not an unlicensed contractor. I seem to recall delivering a check to their office in Paramount. The horrible work part is absolutely true and they don't even try to cover up their mistakes until you demand that they do something to fix their shoddy work. Passing the inspection was a nightmare because they did not do the framing for the bathroom window properly and ended up removing the nice shower enclosure and replacing it with a cheap one, without asking. Only after repeated inspections was it able to pass. The stucco has looked really ugly from day one. You'll notice that after every bad review, Ray says the customer is lying or that someone else is responsible. It seems like David works for them and the checks made out to them get cashed until the bad reviews come in and then all of a sudden David went rogue and did a side deal with someone else and that's why our house looks like crap?!! read more

Roof leaks, cracked stucco after 3 weeks and a sloppy job at that. Paint was never prepped and just slopped over old paint. Hiring them was a mistake. Long story short, we got our money back, but the ethics of Mr. Silverstein is intentionally misleading and directly dishonest. His demeanor and stance is of intimidation and control. Make sure to look up his license number with the state contractors board #767434, you'll see his pending complaints and disciplinary actions from others he has done business with. A quick internet search of the company he is insured and bonded with, BUSINESS ALLIANCE INSURANCE COMPANY, didn't help either - SO many bad reviews and pending legal lawsuits of his insurance company! I have a small apartment building that I needed old wood siding removed and new stucco placed on. David who was my main point of contact was very responsive and gave me a fair estimate. He was a pleasure to work with. The owner Jason was also very nice too. They did great work without cutting any corners and their prices were very fair and reasonable. I'm sure this review will get a response from California Construction Services say something along the lines of "the consumer is not telling the truth" or threatening a lawsuit, as they have done to many others who leave honest reviews. Either of those two responses are welcome. We've saved our proof for the records. By far one of the worst companies we've hired for our renovation projects. It all started off promising with Jason showing an extensive list of satisfied clients during his estimate site visit. My mistake was not calling the people on that list to verify their satisfaction. At first it appeared that they were on top of things. Unfortunately the entire experience changed as the project went along. About halfway into their work I had to start chasing them down to finish portions of their work so that other crews could start their assigned work. Jason had an excuse every time. I have to say, that's one of three things they are great at, 1) making excuses 2) threatening lawsuit and 3) Pushing for payment as soon as they finish a step. Upon completion of the stucco portion of our project, I got a call from Jason, asking for their final payment on the stucco work before the crew left the site for the day. I explained to him that I would be happy to pay him the balance once I have inspected the work, and confirmed the finished product was satisfactory. Luckily, I inspected the work and found two holes the size of basketballs near the foundation, that were didn't stucco, and you could see all the way to the sheathing. After requesting that they fix these issues and requesting Jason (the owner of CCS, or so I believe) to inspect the work as well before final payment, he got upset, refused to come inspect the work and threatened to take us to court for the balance. His crew foreman hearing this unfold, got a couple of the worker to micky mouse patch the holes. At the end of the day I paid them in full, simply to get them out of my hair for good. Jason promised his crew would come out the following Saturday to cleanup the mess left on the new windows and the ground from doing stucco. They showed up and cleaned the windows really well, but left all all the dripped / spilled concreted and top coat on the ground and atrium floor. I ended hiring construction cleaners the following week and spent nearly $1,000 to clean up their mess. That was just for the stucco portion... After they failed to perform portions of the work to waterproof an atrium floor and a rooftop deck which I had already paid a deposit for and had asked them to complete several times, I informed Jason that I was gonna have someone else do it. Since they had no intention of ever finishing and I could not afford to delay the project any further due to their inabilities, I asked Jason and California Construction Services to return the roughly $2,000 balance for work they were paid for but did not complete. Jason agreed but then never returned the money. He again made a million excuses every time we spoke and then stopped responding all together to my calls and emails. I have reached out countless times, and have given them more than enough time to do the right thing. They don't seem interested. Save yourself the time, money and headaches. Hire someone else, ANYONE else. read more

Looking for a Stucco/ Plaster Co. in the area of Montebello, to sandblast and color coat an approx 1500 sq. ft. home. Interviewed several Contractors and a few Companies were impressive, in the ball park with thier bids. In being in the General Construction Profession for approx 35 yrs., I was somewhat impressed with thier estimator Jason that met me at the house to give me an estimate. When talking construction talk, He did know his profession and presented me the correct best answers, stucco mix batches, temperature of application and most important, cure time results, etc. In response to the previous review, I hope to think that there was a minor mix-up with thier office and field operations, No excuse for poor customer Service, appearently the end result was satisfactory. I'm Writing this review at this time and rating the Company 3- Stars for reason of pre-contact satifaction and the stucco job is in it's pre stages of planning and going forward, due to these logistical steps: 1) sandblasting by Cal Const. Svcs., 2) then another Contractor will install 19 New windows, 3) Then Cal C. Svcs. will come back and apply the finish Stucco, Color Coat. Cal C. Svcs. says that they can work around my window schedule. Hopefully all will go well from start to finish with no customer service issues, theres no excuse for poor project site cleanliness, due to sandblasting or poor workmanship, I expect a well done, professional application, the job turns out well and everybodys happy ! I hired this company to sand blast my property. Not only did it NOT pass inspection twice but they also were unprofessional and incompetent to say the least. The Owner or Manager had the audacity to argue with the inspector as to the California building and safety code for sandblasting specifications. They also broke more than 20 clay roof tiles, left sand everywhere around the house and my neighbors house. I have video and pictures to prove this happened. I understand I signed a disclaimer that they are not responsible for any damages that occur due to sandblasting. But the owner said they would make every attempt to mitigate as much damage while walking on the clay tile by putting sand bags to help prevent cracking/breaking the tiles. What actually happened is quite the opposite. They only placed 2 sand bags just in front of the ladder only and walked around the turret damaging around 20 to 30 tiles. I wanted to re-stucco my duplex. I called two different companies for a quote. One quote was $8900, the other quotes was $6250. I later found that both of these quotes were from the same company, California Construction Services. I was too lazy to get a third quote so I went with the lower price quote. After I gave them the deposit, got my lead test done, and pulled the permit, they called me one Saturday morning and told me that they are on the way there to do the sandblasting. They did not call me ahead of time so I was not there at the property. They wanted to charge me $350 because they could not get access to the property. The sandblasting job suppose to be done in two days took over a week to complete. They did a terrible job on the sandblasting. They left out a number of areas untouched. Some pot plants and plants around the duplex were killed. They did not clean up with water afterward. There were sands and debris all over my property. The people who setup the scaffold were rude and even had some mean exchanges with my tenants. My tenants had to leave home for several days due to the dust. After about two weeks, they finally did the stucco. Luckily, the stucco people were very nice and they did a great job. Overall, the biggest complaint would be the communication with main office. They did not know what was going on at the job site. They did a poor job managing their subcontractors/workers. They called to ask me many times about the progress of the work which they should manage and know by themselves. Their operation seemed fishy to me. They have ads in different places with different names and point of contacts. read more
