A salesman named Abe from…read moreMesilla valley satellite came to my house selling a faster internet service offered by Hughes.net. I was currently getting 5 megabytes per second with my current phone company and ABE said I would get 50 megabytes with Hughes.net. He said it would go down a little after I used my allotment. I asked what it would go down to and was told between 11 and 20 megabytes which at worse case twice as fast as what I was getting now. I as also told that I could keep my current phone number which was very important to me. That was a lie. I had to get a new number. The 50 megabytes were used up in less than a day and the speed went down to 1.5 megabytes. With two kids going to Western New Mexico University taking online courses Hughes.net could not support needs at 1.5 megabytes. Hughes.net charged me $480.00 early termination fee on a contract based on lies. This by far was the worst business deal I have ever encountered. I would encourage everyone to stay away from Hughes.net and Mesilla Valley Satellite. Hughes.net should not have charged me an early termination fee. I have all my bills taken out automatically from bank account and Hughes.net took out the $480.00 from my bank without my authorization.

A - You get a lot of pissed off customers that will flock to your competitors. I am now one of them. Despicable treatment by a group of totally untrained, uneducated, incompetent L I A R S First call 10/17 - This is where I lost 51 minutes of my life trying to explain an issue to their incoherent representatives. First Eileen who was totally useless. Then her 'supervisor', Jasmine who guaranteed me I would receive an email from someone on their tech team within 72 hours, Ticket #1-236907879796R2. It sounded far-fetched, but I gave her the benefit of the doubt. 10/24 - As anticipated, no response. Called again and spoke with Sierra who again, was of no use. I asked to AGAIN speak with a supervisor. After waiting for 1 hour 27 minutes (stupid me) with her coming back on the line every so often to assure me that the supervisor was coming, she disconnected the call. I guess that was her way of letting me know that a supervisor wouldn't be coming after all. Right back at you AT&T/DirectTV. Tomorrow, it's my turn and I will be one to hit the disconnect button and terminate your services.

Then when you call customer service you'll want to pull your hair out with the outsourced individuals you speak with. There is so much background noise that they cannot hear you and I've been hung up on several times. I will switch and never return to this joke of a company!

    After updating my phone, I got a "SIM Card Locked. Enter PUK (Pin Unlock Code)" This code is…read moreseparate from whatever security passcode you enter when setting up the phone and, to my knowledge, I never set up. I called the customer service line and the agent gave me two wrong codes so I went to this AT&T store. That was a mistake. You would assume the store would be able address this without issue, but they told me they couldn't find the code in their system but they could "fix" it by replacing the SIM card... for a $5 fee. That is appalling level of customer service. AT&T pushed out the updated, locked my phone, and the store wanted a shakedown fee to fix the problem they created. The woman I spoke was unhelpful, citing management's policy on charging for SIM cards for any reason with no exceptions. Of course, the manger wasn't there to address this situation. Judging by the rude behavior of the employees', I'm not confident the manger would have been helpful. I refused to pay and called customer service line again. A different agent on the phone was able to find the correct code and unlock my phone (surprise, surprise). The lesson here is to avoid this store if possible and be very weary of "fees" they push on customers. I've been here a few times in the past and I had decent experiences. Whoever is running the show over there now has made customer service for existing customers a very low priority.
