Was quoted a $49 diagnostic fee, but the bill ballooned to $194.51 without an itemized breakdown. After six weeks of unnecessary delays, unrelated "diagnostics," and poor communication, all they actually did was re-solder the port I requested from the start. My name was recorded wrong, I was given the wrong charging block, and my calls to get my property back were ignored. Yesterday I needed a replacement quickly and they removed my hard drive and put it into the computer the owner had been using. I was on my way in just a couple of hours. The price was astonishingly low. That is as good a a company can do. PS. My career (I'm retired for over 20 years now.) was with the world supercomputer leader (at the time). I worked on supercomputers and always made my own PCs until I found Local tech who is extremely competent and would do it as cheap as I could and i do not need to wait for parts. Last minute MacBook repair work was awesome! Girlfriend put the laptop in her luggage with it still on and fried the motherboard. They were able to take parts from my girlfriend's and other laptops to put something together that would work in this absolute emergency of needing the presentation, that had taken days to do, that needed to be presented at a function that evening. All of this was done in a Saturday afternoon when other places would answer the phone or said that they would need to order parts. Laptop still works great now a month later. In all, I've purchased 3 computers from him, each was in excellent condition and I am still using one which I purchased several years ago. I also purchased one for my wife and she is very happy with hers. I've found Albert to be very professional, knowledgeable, and reasonably priced. Above all, I've found him to be completely honest and straight forward. I've read some of the negative reviews, however my experience my experience has always been very positive. I will return. I wanted so badly for this to be my go to computer place. I like using small, locally owned businesses. They did manage to get my original PC going and for that 3 stars...however... After a couple days being checked out, they diagnosed my issue as a bad power source. For about $100 they could fix it. OR...for about $50 more he would sell me a "better" computer with more power and bells and whistles my simple little Dell did not have. Cool. Let's go for better. "Better" meaning heavier and old and what I was told was refurbished. Here's the saga of the "better" desktop: I got it home and it had a little trouble turning on. But finally did. Then the DVD drawer wouldn't open. I took it back. A day later I finally texted to see if it was ready. It was. Now let me say they are great at communicating with you if you contact them first. They will get right back with you. They will not, in my experience, contact you first with details. And don't think the hours posted at the storefront are real. They open when they open. Got it home. It wouldn't turn on. He did ask me on the phone if I was "pushing the button". Ha! No, I was siting in the floor with my eyes closed wishing it would suddenly power on by itself... He sent a tech out to see if it was something simple. The tech took the bulky old computer with him. I have no idea what the problem was because I asked for my now working old PC back. It works fine with the new power source. Look, you can take your stuff here and hope for the best. I see other reviews that are all thumbs up and 5 stars. I personally felt as though I was sold some old crappy PC that hadn't been refurbished and wasn't what I was told it was. I'll keep looking for my go to PC repair place in LC. read more

I had a USB connection that got damaged and it prevented my PC from starting. Called Local Tech and they had me bring it in on a Friday afternoon. They called me Saturday morning and said what it needs plus clean it and tune it up. Picked it up Sat. afternoon, works as new. The cost was very reasonable. Very nice people to deal with. I took my Envy laptop in to Local Tech see if they could fix the "e" key which was not typing a letter unless you tapped it a few times harder than normal. It slowed down my typing a lot. When I called to see the status of the computer repair, they said they tried to turn it on but it wouldn't turn on. I told them it turned on fine and worked fine other than the "e" key when i brought it in to them! I looked at the computer when they gave it back to me and the left front corner of the lower part of the computer case was open and the computer's internal "guts" were showing. I said something like 'did you drop this or try to take the computer apart?" The person just shrugged his shoulders and said no. I said something like 'how could this happen' (pointing to the computer damage). He shrugged his shoulders again. We talked back and forth and he basically said he didn't do anything but try to turn it on. He offered to take the computer apart and see what was wrong. I didn't trust him to not do more damage. Basically, he took no responsibility for the computer not working at all. So, where my laptop had a sticky "e" key, now it doesn't work at all and i had to buy a new laptop, so this repair basically cost me my entire computer which it cost nearly two thousand dollars to replace. No, I will not go back. read more

AMAZING. I built my own PC and found out my power supply fried. I dropped it off there so they could run diagnostics on everything to tell me what all was fried. They cleaned up my PC, told me what was wrong and needed replaced, replaced some wires, did nothing but help me out for an AMAZING price. Broke my computer screen and was given and estimate of $307. While fixing it they "had difficulties" and further broke it and wanted to charge me $40 more. What should have taken two weeks to fix took almost a month. Look somewhere else for computer repair. Literally anywhere. They also have a sign that reads "you don't pay unless successful repair" which i saw AFTER i gave a $200 down payment. read more

It is hard to say enough good things about Local Tech. My Windows 10 PC was acting up. They reformatted the hard drive (I was completely backed up) and reinstalled the operating system the same day (3 hours faster than estimated). When that didn't fix the problem they investigated further and discovered the internal battery was going bad (about to explode!). Albert (owner) immediately found a replacement battery and started the replacement the next day, for an incredibly low price compared to the cost of the computer. I write this before I have the computer returned to me, however based on my contacts with Albert, Joe, and Raquel at the shop, I'm just so impressed with their demeanor, customer care, and professionalism, I have to say something. Their shop is in a kiosk, thus I'm sure low overhead allow them to be so efficient in charges, however, low costs mean nothing without customer care, personality, and good service. I was very happy with the service I received at Local Tech. My computer was running very poorly after I upgraded to Windows 10. I thought I needed more RAM or a new computer. When I took it in, Albert, the owner, and Anthony, were knowledgeable and worked quickly. That's important since we know how critical it is when our computer is 'down'! Diagnostics were free. Repairs, or in my case, backing everything up and reloading Windows 10 was done for a very reasonable price.They have some hardware for sale "in-house", and the prices are equal to Amazon. Best of all, I think, is they assess YOUR needs, don't try to sell you extras, and explain things in an understandable way. They also offer 1-on-1 'tutoring', so I may use them for that when needed. My PC laptop died on me while I was visiting Las Cruces. I checked Craigslist for my options for small independent repair businesses and found an ad for this place reasonably close to where I was staying. We had initially feared it was a motherboard issue due to a power surge during a thunderstorm. I was told by Albert that it ended up being a minor connectivity issue and was fixed for a reasonable fee. Knowing that I had no transportation, Albert even drove me to where I was staying. They fixed my laptop when another local shop said they could not. Updated it and the prices are extremely reasonable my computer now runs amazing and with the new windows; Which is what the other local shop said my computer would not be compatible with. I don't know what the other reviewer is talking about, I spoke in person twice once when I dropped off my computer and once when I pick it up about the repair as they Finnish another thing as I waited only 10 min.
