I was interested in a property that Sky Realty was representing and wanted to secure more information and set up a time to visit. The first time I called Sky Realty broker Jeffrey Dochen - he was the agent representing the property - I left him a voice mail. Two days elapsed and I did not hear back from him. The second time I called Jeffrey Dochen, I did not hear back from him. I then called the 2nd listing agent. She got back to me soon enough and helped me to schedule a visit to the property. The people there on behalf of Sky Realty did not know a thing about the place. Slab or pier and beam foundation? 1 or 2 ACs? Who owns the house? Where is the hot water heater? I wouldn't have minded so much if they had just told me that they had no information, but the woman would provide information that I knew - or later discovered - to be wrong It then became necessary to track Jeffrey Dochen again. FINALLY - he answered the phone. It was the middle of a business day, and yet he didn't sound pleased to hear from me. I asked him all of the questions I had, but he had no answers to contribute. In fact, he'd take several seconds before he'd reply, and then his answers made me feel as if he was being questioned by a lawyer in front of a jury. What the hell?! This story has a happy ending, but no thanks to Sky Realty. I especially feel sorry for the people who hired them to represent them. Why? - It took many months to sell a house that had 8 offers. - The house was purchased for 2/3s the original asking price. - Comps of neighboring houses indicate that square footage is 40% higher than what as paid for the Sky Realty property. - There was nothing significantly wrong with the house. - Because it took so many months to sell the house, the owner had to pay many thousands of dollars on cosmetic work (new paint throughout, new wall to wall carpeting, new grouting, etc.) and that investment was not factored in to the sale price. As you know, the Central Texas Market can be very hard to navigate with it being so competitive and with homes not lasting long on the market and/or a lot of times ending up in bidding wars. I must say that while I have bought property in Texas this was my 1st sale in Texas. I have sold properties in New York City and have dealt with several realtors over the years. This was by far the worst experience I have ever had in any property transaction I have ever done. Malita Jones is just not a strong realtor. She got completely bulldozed by the buyers realtor and ultimately she did not do a very good job negotiating my sale. My property was not aggressively marketed, she never did an open house or helped to push things forward other than having me drop the home price. As a result of the missteps in this process and the disappointing experience in the sale of my home I will NEVER recommend Malita to anyone, I will never use Sky again. read more

I then called a sales agent, asked for the owner's name and number, it was like pulling teeth from an alligator, but she finally did give me the info. I called and asked are you the owner?? He was very defensive (he asked why?) but then answered "yes" - his name? Curtis - so I explained what happened with the receptionist, he got huffy with me said: "have a nice day" and hung up! Although we weren't interested in the house she was showing, we were instantly drawn to Liz and her humble, friendly, and genuine personality. When we were ready, we contacted Liz to help us navigate the Austin market and have a more focused search. Not only was Liz helpful and full of useful information, she was VERY patient with us. She quickly learned our different styles, wants vs. needs, and non-verbal cues. She did an awesome job at showing us different neighborhoods, different styles of homes, and also took the time to create some driving tours for us to explore on our own. She was also patient with us when we vacillated on putting in an offer on a house.
