This place is literally a hop away from where I work but I've held off going until now because the weather was iffy and I didn't want to go too far. It felt weird to be in such open space and the area had strange Federal facility written all over it. As we walked in we felt the quasi diner vibe but it was filled with corporate business types. Weird. So as the co-worker and I perused the menu something felt very similar to me. It was the list of omelets. Where had I seen this before? hmmm...So we both went for breakfast and ended up with the bacon, ham, cheese omelets with fried potatoes. I also noticed that with the omelets you get either potatoes or toast, not both. Also strangely familiar. Good fried potatoes and tasty omelets but I just couldn't shake the deja vu feeling. It's not like I'd been here before. I mean we are at an airport! As we ate our food it struck me. This is exactly like the Omelet House over across the freeway. Sure enough as we got the bill, Omelet House was stamped on the back. Glad to know my memory is still somewhat sharp. So you get the same solid breakfast and service as you do over at O.H. but in a quirkier location. O.H. also has a more old school vibe. Busy busy on a Sunday morning for breakfast but food comes pretty quickly and there are a couple of group tables that are seated with individuals too. This is comfort food that is great for kids and airplane enthusiasts. Planes and helicopters are coming and going on a nice day. Food is big! Couldn't be happier with Sky Kitchen, for our takeout / pickup brunch for Mother's Day (May 2020). My kids and I were wondering how to treat mom, and support a deserving local business, and not spend too much money this year. I saw an update from Sky Kitchen that they had reopened for safe pickup, and had a great value Mother's Day special menu. We ordered one of each of the specials (waffles were our favorite. Then the crab cake Benedict. Then the French toast. Then the pancakes), which came with eggs and fruit and meat on the side and OJ or freshly prepared mimosa. Unbeatable value. And I didn't have to wait - it was ready in the time it took to drive from my house on the other side of 101. The place itself is a bit off the beaten track, but easy to drive or bike to. And tons of parking. It's truly unique, in the same building as the tiny San Carlos airport, so you can watch small, private planes coming and going - and pretend you could ever afford one! I geeked out on the model airplanes hanging from the ceiling - just like my bedroom at home when I was a kid. The food here is alright. Nothing really special or fancy, other than its at the San Carlos airport. I have come here a lot in the past for breakfast and it was always pretty good. I recently went the other day for lunch and got a burger. It was not very good. The meat was way over cooked, the bun was stale, and the side salad was all old and gross. I have to say the people working there did ask me several times how the food was but I just said fine because I didn't want to say anything in front of other people. Maybe they were asking because it was a new chef or something, I don't know.. but I thought the staff was friendly. I probably won't go there again for lunch anytime soon, but maybe I still might go for breakfast. I'll try that one more time for sure. If I am impressed with breakfast the next time I go, I will give lunch a try again and just try something new. Ok another one of those places that I wish we didn't tell each other about. This place is amazing! A little hole in the wall hidden in a regional airport. Cute little diner with wonderful food. Came in for breakfast and if I had room would have stayed for lunch. Kitchen closes at 3pm and it's a shame. Would love them to be open longer but really slows down in the afternoon. We decided to give this place a second chance after a subpar first experience, but unfortunately the second visit just reinforced the first. Nice view of the airport, friendly staff. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs and bacon. The eggs and bacon were normal, nothing too exciting. However, the biscuits and gravy were absolutely terrible. They tasted like melted plastic. I don't know if it is because they burned some of the bacon fat before they pit it in the gravy but it was the worse tasting biscuit ever. I love trying new breakfast places. Found this one on yelp and actually never knew it was there! Pretty small place but very cute and modern inside. Service was fine, fast and friendly. My eggs, bacon and hash browns were delicious. I love my bacon extra crispy and it was perfect. The hash browns were so flavorful and crunchy on the outside, also just the way I like it. My toast was cold though, which was the only complaint I can make about this place. read more

Here you get average breakfast fare but it is served with warm, friendly service. What makes this place stand out a bit is its setting at the San Carlos Airport. This affords your the opportunity to watch small private planes come and go from this little airport between Hwy 101 and the Bay. If I had kids this would probably be a favorite as kids just eat this place up. read more

An awesome way to begin a weekend morning! Not only does Sky Kitchen have the novelty of being near a small airport with a glider plane view...but the food is actually GOOD (and priced well)! I had been to Hiller Aviation Museum, but never to Sky Kitchen until recently. It's separate from the museum, so you'll need to drive down another side road to eat here if you're heading over from the museum. Either way, it's a straight shot off the freeway and a must-do for any aviation buff living in the area. I ordered the huevos rancheros, which ended up being a huge helping of deliciousness. Paired with coffee and the airport nostalgia, it was a perfect start to Sunday. A great place to bring the little pilots, as well! From the glider views to the toy planes available in the waiting area, it's sure to delight your little ones! Worst waffles I've ever had in my life. Chewy, rubbery, bland, flavorless. Putting a heap of toppings on it is NOT going to help it. I only ate about a quarter of the waffle and I felt like I had to throw up. Oh yeah, and they put butter on top of the waffle, what the heck? I mean ok, I understand if I ordered the waffle alone, but it had coconut shavings on it. Butter on coconut shavings? Gross. We recently started going here for breakfast. Very friendly staff, we have not had to wait too long for anything. On a nice day we sit outside and watch the planes come and go. Visited for the first time today based on the positive yelp reviews. Ordered a simple Denver omelet that came out cold with no cheese. After waiting 10 minutes for a waitress to come and validate my claim, she brought my same omelet back with a glob of unmelted cheese. By this time, the omelette was cold and not edible. Sky Kitchen is one of those places you don't want to write a Yelp review about, 'cause you don't want anyone else finding out about it! Most definitely a hidden gem in San Carlos... Thanks to Jason O's search skills, we found Sky Kitchen after spending the early afternoon at Hiller Aviation Museum. We were hungry and didn't want to drive far. Lucky for us, Sky Kitchen was less than a mile away. At first I thought Google Maps had done us wrong, but sure enough, it's actually inside the San Carlos airport. Who even knew they had a tiny little airport back here? Most airport eateries are... well... gross! I'm thinking Chili's 2 Go, Burger KIng, that nasty seafood joint inside T3 of SFO, you dig? Obviously everything in SFO's Terminal 2 doesn't count, but it's not like every airport has a Terminal 2. In short, I was expecting something nasty. Or dirty. Sky Kitchen is none of those things! - Yes, it's small. But there's plenty of counter seats and booths for maybe 30 guests at a time? That's way bigger than a lot of San Francisco restaurants. - Considering there's one waitress working the entire room, service is damn quick! - Two line cooks working in the kitchen. Whatever it is they're doing back there, keep it coming 'cause my french fries were cooked to perfection! - Prices are quite reasonable, considering you're getting a freshly cooked meal. Way less than lunch at most restaurants, too. - They accept credit cards! Woo hoo! We were in and out within 30 minutes. Easy peasy! My favorite part of the meal is eavesdropping on pilot's conversations - the ones we overheard had been flying their little planes for many, many years. (Read: these were old guys sharing "war" stories of the skies). Not something you get to experience every day. Ok, sooo. Zak & I felt a wee bit mislead by our favored Yelpers here for sure. We mistook all the raving reviews for a great place for brunch. This is NOT the place to enjoy a nice Saturday Brunch! haha This... is a quaint little divey diner that won't let you down. It was hot inside on a chilly windy day... Filled with older folks telling great stories about their flight hours... It's like being a part of an episode of WINGS for seniors. Remember that show? The service is great! Waters come out, greasy menus right away... I ordered the Chicken Avocado Club and it was really evil and delicious! It fell apart while I was eating it. Slippery parts! But I still stabbed my fresh bacon slices and fresh and ripe avocado and enjoyed it. Zak had an omelette filled with good things. They've got Tapatio on the tables and all the fixins. We left with full bellies and rode our bikes back home... Our expectations were a nice brunch with Mimosas while watching the planes come and go. We saw a plane getting gas... and heard some fun stories at the neighboring table, but ultimately I wanted to eat and get back out to the fresh air. Sweet people though... and so? A decent local eatery almost as old....errr YOUNG as I am, where it's typical diner grub with breakfast served all day (the focus, mainly on the multitudes of omlette offerings). But the pancakes and eggs aren't bad either. The concept is nice and earnest, where you would enjoy old school American breakfast while watching planes take off and land, with an interior decor sporting dogfight type combat aircraft and then some. This would be a perfect stop before or after hitting the Hiller Aviation Museum which is not too far away. Unfortunately window seats are limited, and depending on the time of day, it is like watching an airport parking lot (for planes). My husband and I started coming here every Saturday a couple of months ago and it has become our new favorite weekend tradition. Sky Kitchen is adorable inside (for when life returns back to normal someday) and has plenty of well-spaced outdoor seating for folks like us who want to stay outside in the fresh air and watch the airplanes take off. My toddler (and my husband) is/are always entertained by all the action on the tarmac and I enjoy being able to eat out without having to entertain my little guy! The food is amazing - we love the Italian Scramble, the country scramble, the Spanish omelet and the California Benedict (a bit heavy on hollandaise but others may not complain about that!). I came here wondering how well Sky Kitchen would stack up against Three Zero in Half Moon Bay. Both are small airport restaurants where you can watch the goings-on from your table. What this place does well is the omelette with avocado, bacon and sour cream. I've eaten here three times and so far, this is why I come back. It's hard to get too excited about the service model that revolves around you paying at the register, but the people who make this place work are adept at their art and have always made me feel welcome. Three Zero does nothing wrong and has a menu that stands out, while Sky Kitchen is a bit uneven trip-to-trip but is a solid choice for breakfast on the peninsula, and lately it's a decison made between this or Crepe Vine in Burlingame for those mornings when no one wants to cook or drive to HMB. read more

This is the cafe where the small aircraft regulars come - to catch up and run into a familiar face... and it's so much fun to sip on coffee and just watch and listen from the sidelines. They have a great casual atmosphere. Great view of the small aircraft airport (bring your little pilots here!) where you sit and watch the planes come and go... counter seats and a center island counter that invites you to talk with other patrons. Hashbrowns are YUM, with slightly thicker potato shreds and greasy crispiness. Bacon is thin and extra crispy. French toast has a twist: cinnamon and sugar sprinkled over the powdered sugar. Chicken fried steak is perfect for sharing. Cute little cafe that's a little off the main drive. Despite that this place was located in the middle of nowhere (if I were to go at night, I'd feel like I was being led somewhere to get murdered..), the food here was surprisingly good! The pancakes were fluffy and magically delicious.. probably the best pancakes I've had in awhile.. the eggs were buttery and light (is that a paradox?), and the service wasn't bad either. A perfect $100 hamburger destination for pilots. Not only was the food as good as you can expect at an airport restaurant the staff was friendly. I love that there is one large communal table in the middle of the restaurant fostering some good aviation conversations. Despite the restaurant being filled to capacity (that might be the only negative, they could use more space), the food was served promptly. All the Yelpers said to order the club sandwich - as a fan of meat I took the bait. There was LESS THAN 1 piece of bacon in the club sandwich. So appalled at the lack of bacon I pulled it all out and put it together only to find that 70% of the 1 pathetic bacon piece was pure FAT! I LOVE bacon, I have a magnet at my cubicle that says "You had me at bacon" with a bacon-shaped heart so I know my bacon and I understand that it is fatty, but this was just insane. Also on the club sandwich was the pre-wrapped American cheese slices, I couldn't even believe it. I have fond memories of this place. When my son was around 4 years old, he and I used to come down here for breakfast on the weekends - just us boys, while the girls (mom and daughter) sleep in on Sunday mornings. We'd sit at the counter and we order ourselves the hearty "country breakfast" which includes eggs, sausage and a couple of pancakes. We'd chow down the food and just share some quiet time together while the "girls" get their beauty sleep. But us guys were eager to get the day's adventure started and having a good hearty breakfast fits the bill and get us the energizer rabbit going. Greasy spoon - in a good way. Terrific place to take kids for breakfast on the weekend - lots of planes and trucks to gawk at, and the place is not crowded if you are there before 9am. Good omelettes, good pancakes, good bacon. Coffee needs some work. The staff is extremely friendly, and handles the occasional issue with grace. Just today we had hash browns that were off - kind of sour. When the waitress came for our third coffee refill, we told her. She took it well, went to the kitchen, tasted there, and tossed the whole batch. She took it off the bill too. Pretty much an A++ reaction in a place like this. We come once a month or so, and always enjoy ourselves.
