Took my kids to the Hiller Aviation Museum and the staff there recommended we grab lunch here. This little place did not disappoint! My kids (picky eaters) really enjoyed the food. One had the kids menu nuggets and the other one had a full breakfast. I was impressed that my daughter finished the two pancakes that were the size of her face as well as her sausage and eggs. I enjoyed my Eggs Benedict too. The kids enjoyed it so much we went back again two days later. They ate the same thing but I tried the tuna melt this time. So good!! Service is great too. Out of town and looking for somewhere to go for breakfast, when a friend recommended we check this place out. I got the two eggs with bacon breakfast and the meal was really good. The bacon strips they use are the wide thick cut which I like, also the bacon was crispy and not rubbery which was perfect. Reminder to look up at the board for daily specials. Overall it was a cool atmosphere to see planes taxi or land and to over hear the pilots talk about their day. We will for sure be back if ever in the area. read more

I've been here pre Yelp when I used to take flying lessons and flew here for lunch from the Hayward airport. I remember my instructor talking about good food and the ease of flying in and out. Back then I thought about how clean this diner is. Well nothing has changed for the best. Still clean. Food is still awesome and down to earth. Fast and courteous service. My favorite corned beef hash is homemade and is quite on the healthy side. If you're remotely interested in planes and want to stare at them up close then come here. SurfAir is a private airline with membership only who calls this place their home. It's the same entrance as the restaurant. Unlimited flights to social for $700+/month! A very proper name for a restaurant at an airport, considering you dine with small personal aircraft in view. Upon entry, my eyes were drawn to the island with bar stools in the middle of the restaurant, looked very cozy. We sat and were immediately served by a friendly waitress. Their omelette selection is extreme with thirty different ones to choose from. Defeated by my indecisiveness on the omelette, I ordered the French Toast Combo. Choice of hash or potatoes in addition to the toast is part of this combo, which is not very common but was a pleasant surprise. I chose the house potatoes, which were outstanding, crispy on one side resembling french fries. The bacon was nice and crunchy. The French Toast was ordinary but still delicious. We absolutely love this place! We've been coming with our kids since we moved to Belmont four years ago and love the food and the kind people who work here. Super family friendly-- the kids can watch planes taking off and landing from large glass windows or outside near the runway. I also used to come to work on my laptop and was never rushed out. While the restaurant is a little small, the food was good, the service was friendly, and they have unique waffles (uhh, Hawaiian waffle anyone?). What hidden gem! I wanted to stay closer to the hotel for breakfast this past Sunday, after a less than desirable experience at a breakfast spot in SF the morning before. So it's misleading because we drive into an "airport" for little planes. My family is glaring at me as we pull into the parking lot because it's looking shady. We walk into the modest little airport and this place is loaded with patrons and servers are zipping around. Im salivating from the savory smells coming from the kitchen. We sat at the counter and within minutes have coffee and drinks served with a smile. What a turn around from yesterday! Service is fantastic here. We order the breakfast quesadilla with chorizo, it's huge and delicious. My daughter and I, both order the corned beef hash. It's chunks of corned beef and homefries not the mushy canned mess. It's awesome and well seasoned and so fresh. We were so excited that we began eating and I almost didn't get any pictures. My brother is a keto freak so he orders just eggs and sausage. The sausage is a hand formed pattie. It was salty and savory with a little kick of spice. Top notch quality and freshness. My mother got steak and eggs. She said it was fantastic and trust me, she can be hard to please as a retired chef/restauranteur. I had a bite and she wasn't joking. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. On top of everything tasting amazing and large portions, our bill was about $15 cheaper than what we spent the day before, including tip for a full service diner. I found this place because they offer breakfast till at least 2pm (i believe they shut down at 3). The food is always fresh, prepared quickly and even if there is a wait the staff is alway pleasant and helpful. A great small town feel reminiscent of the cafe on the show "wings" back in the day. Supreet and Gabby always make sure coffee is refilled and orders are quick and are the main reason i keep coming back. Let me say upfront that I don't anticipate my comments will matter, customer feedback isn't something I think is valued with the current owners. Having said that, I have been a regular patron of Sky Kitchen for many years & when it changed hands a few years back I fully anticipated there would be changes. It's expensive to operate any business but especially on the peninsula, what I didn't anticipate was to get gouging when ordering lunch. While my order may have been a little different (2 hamburger patties no buns, sliced tomatoes & a small gravy) I didn't anticipate being charged $3 for two slices of tomatoes & $4 for the gravy. My bad for not asking but I assumed (we all know what happens when you do that) that like the other sandwiches it came with the tomatoes, they would save on the buns & like other menu items a small gravy would be included but nope, $30 for lunch. Few things annoy me more than getting nickel & dimed, especially when your a regular (that should not matter but when they know you well enough to have your preferred drink ready when you walk in, well they know you) but I will not be back. Again, given their level of business I am sure will I will not be missed but this business model is not sustainable & will eventually catch-up with the establishment. read more

Not sure what the hype is about this place or why it has good reviews. Restaurant is very small but has good signage so it's easy to find. Ordered an ice tea and received a rotten lemon with it. I ordered the eggs Benedict next and was not impressed. Hash Browns are very soggy and greasy with no flavor. Tasted like they were frozen before. The eggs Benedict were were basic with little flavor. The sauce is what made the eggs Benedict not better. You can tell the sauce is canned by the flavor and looking at it. I won't be back. Food is below mediocre and nothing memorable. The overall impression is that it reminds me of a frozen meal made in the microwave or hospital food. Sky Kitchen is one of the more random places I've chosen for brunch but it's very close to my house and serve brunch until 2:45 pm. It's very dinner-esque and looks out over the small planes of the San Carlos airport. I was definitely overdressed in a skirt and boots as I was headed to an engagement party soon after. I should also advice this is a seat-yourself type of place not a stand-near-the-door-awkwardly-to-wait-to-be-seated-in a-skirt kind of place ;) They have lots of great breakfast options and I chose a veggie omelet and added avocado. It was a big omelet for $9.75 and the veggies were great but the eggs themselves were not that special. The hash brown were yummy but soooo buttery. The service was good as our waitress was very nice and she was very attentive and diligent about refilling our coffee frequently. The coffee was good but also not super amazing. A good breakfast/lunch diner within walking distance from my house? Yes sir! I never even knew this place even existed until recently. But I really was craving a mid week chili omelette and after a quick search on a review website (I will give you three guesses which), I found this place. Given the fact that it was so close to home and a solid 4 star rating (and many from trusted Yelp friends) I decided to give it a shot. I arrived just before noon and already the place was buzzing. The dining room was nearly full, but was able to find a seat at the counter where there was plenty of seating. I already know what I wanted, but took my time to study the menu and check out some of the offerings that were coming out of the kitchen. Everything looked great, though probably not the most healthy though I did see a few salads (which I probably should have gotten but screw dieting!). I did end up going with my intended chili cheese omelette with hash browns. When it finally arrived, it was your basic omelette, pretty tasty but probably could have used more chili and cheese (I know two places that make a better one). The hash browns were good, but not the best I've had. If hash browns aren't your things, they do offer home fries as an alternative. Overall I walked away feeling pretty good about the place. The service was excellent, there is plenty of parking and the menu had tons of offerings. I will be sure to add this to my rotation and be back again soon. read more

This place is crazy cool, because other than flying out of SFO, this is an airport cafe that I enjoy eating at without the high prices. All the planes are parked outside and some take off in front of you while you are eating your eggs. It is quaint on the inside, but very comfortable. I had a really good time eating here. I don't think the owners wife likes people coming in her establishment. She doesn't seem to like you the moment you walk in the door . She gives that scowl look on her face and eyes you up in down as if to see he approval. The staff is good but you can tell they feel uncomfortable being here with her there. The feeling in general makes it uncomfortable as a customer to be there. I've had great customer service in the past but the past couple times I've been here has been enough to know things have changed. I feel bad for the workers actually, they talk to us politely but then get this woman in the back in charge of the place yelling and harping on them very loudly. Cool secret breakfast place at San Carlos airport for those in the know - awesome on a sunny morning to watch the small planes take off and land over breakfast. Place is very low key and has a nostalgic feel to it. There are a zillion variety of omelettes available. I happened to be feeling healthy so decided to have the veggie one. It was okay, but definitely needed some more salt and taste. I think I happened to choose one of the few omelettes that don't come with cheese so that could be part of the reason. My friend had some hash browns that looked so crispy and brown that I was salivating. After reading Heather's review, I'm coming back just to try them. I also saw Sky Kitchen listed on some website with free wireless- haven't tried, but that'd be another reason for a visit. Hmmm bacon. Crispy bacon. Sky Kitchen does them well, and they are not chewy at all! God knows how hard it is for diners to properly prepare bacon. This place is right at the San Carlos airport, and I felt like I was going away for a vacation when I sat here for lunch. It has a very homey feel, and busy waitresses -- not the friendliest, but hey, it's a diner. The food came out really fast as well. Guess they're really prepared for the lunch rush. Food is definitely amongst the better of the diners. There are a few diners, including chains, just down the road, but nothing beats a good bacon and avocado sandwich, where you can literally hear the bacon breaking in your mouth.
