My dog got skunked the other night and ran into our house scared. It was an absolute disaster that left our home reeking of skunk and our dog stinky and traumatized. I frantically posted in a neighborhood group for recommendations and a couple comments told me to contact SkunkMasters. I am so serious that it was the best decision we made in trying to get our home and pup back to normal. David and I spoke that morning, and within 2 hours we were driving to him so he could help us deskunk our dog. He was so amazing with our pup, who was nervous about everything going on, and he had a very empathetic approach to assessing her and applying treatment. David is so incredibly knowledgeable about skunk odor removal and he even offers a home kit with instructions to get the smell out of our house. We had been relying on home remedies (aka vinegar) to help with the smell, but the drastic improvement in our home after only a couple hours of using SkunkMasters' kit was almost unbelievable it was so good. I truly can't recommend SkunkMasters enough. I was so close to spending $800+ to have an odor removal company come clean my house, and SkunkMasters was able to solve it quickly, easily, and more affordably--all with products that are non-toxic and fragrance free. read more

Our husky was sprayed and David made the trip to Arlington Heights at midnight. He was professional and thorough. He also saw us a few days later to clean off any remaining odors. Great experience. Highly recommend. read more

My dog was sprayed, and within two hours of calling David at SkunkMasters, I was there and back home with a brand new dog. Although this is not something I hope to have to deal with in the future, I'm so glad to have found SkunkMasters for those times when it's a necessity. David is methodical, thorough, and professional. I would absolutely call him again, and I'll refer him to anyone I know who may need de-skunking services. read more

David the owner absolutely knows what he is talking about. Although we were too far for him to come to us, I was able to come to him and pick up the materials and directions. The skunking happened at 11:30 pm one night and my dog and I slept in "the funk" until I could find this company and get the materials the next morning. Needless to say, my house and my dog were in terrible shape! But by following the directions and using the materials provided, my dog was fixed on Day 1 as soon as I got back and bathed him; my house was vastly improved by evening of Day 1; and my house was fixed by Day 3. On Day 4 we had a party scheduled and we didn't have to cancel - the house was totally fine! Amazing!! It does take a bit of time and attention depending on how much of your house you let your dog run through after getting sprayed (whoops) but it is 100% doable with amazing results. David was very accommodating to get the materials to me in a hurry even though he already had a full schedule. He was also very thorough on the directions and very available for follow-up questions. read more

Both of my dogs were skunked late one night. I called Skunkmasters and was connected right away. The Skunkmaster was at my home within a half hour. He was amazing with both of my dogs, as each of them has a very different personality. He was extra patient and gentle with my skittish dog, in a high stress situation, the Skunkmaster was calm, focused, friendly and incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. When he was done, both dogs smelled so much better! I do not know what I would've done without him! read more

Worth every penny, because David has deskunking skills and expertise that are invaluable in that awful time after your dog gets skunked. The owner was so helpful and was able to quickly answer our questions and see our dog immediately after he was skunked. He is incredibly gentle with dogs and very insightful regarding dog behavior, which helped create a calm environment. He knows exactly what to expect and how to remove the smell from not just the dog but from every area of your home. Many thanks to Skunkmasters for excellent service. Highly recommend them if your dog has a run in with a skunk! read more

My wife found this place online so we called the 24/7 operator line, gave our information and then, presumably, Dave called back in 2 minutes. He recommended to go to the website, fill out the form and received the email for the DIY guide. I read the instructions aloud to my wife that were in the PDF and it was the exact mixture she had found earlier in the evening. The mixture was prepared correctly and exactly what she had found and used earlier. I called, presumably, Dave back and he said "I don't know what to tell you. That mixture has worked for me on over 2600 dogs." To which I replied, "I guess you can't help then" and hung up. Not helpful. Would not recommend to a friend. If this app was actually useful, I would leave zero stars. Lazy, pompous and arrogant. read more

Called in despair - thinking there was a Michigan service... Dave called back and gave a few pointers, directed me to the website, and I followed guide. Success!!! I would have loved service - but this worked. Dave's a real professional. read more

It was 10:00pm when my dog got sprayed by a skunk. He smelled so bad! My wife was in a panic, I called skunk master and 10 minutes later he was working on my dog to mitigate the smell. It helped tremendously it was almost like magic! Customer service A+, response time A+, results A+. Dave saved my marriage I was going to be sleeping outside with the dog for a week maybe more. I'll def reach out if this happens again. Dave has a great way with dogs too, my skittish dog was very comfortable after a minute or two of interacting with Dave. GREAT EXPERIENCE THANKS AGAIN DAVE! read more

Dave was awesome with my 100 pound dog that got skunked in the face. We took the dog to him, which was better than him coming to our house. He was able to do everything in his garage and made sure we left with stuff we can apply in the morning if we notice any residue smell. I recommend taking your dog to him so there is warm water for rinsing (our hose would be freezing). He also gave us clean towels for the car ride home! Very kind and knowledgeable man! Thank you Dave! read more

This guy is as good as every review you read here times 1000. Here is my one thing that I urge you to do- LISTEN TO WHAT HE SAYS. Yes, does letting a stranger walk through your house at midnight when your kids are sleeping make you uncomfortable? Of course it does. But having a dog walk through your house smelling like skunk will make you much more uncomfortable- believe me. There's a method to his madness and it works! He and my dog immediately hit it off and within 2 minutes my dog was in love and would do anything for him. After getting him comfortable, he started his process and within an hour my dog was laying on his pillow next to our bed and you never would have known he was skunked. It was worth every penny he charges and if (god forbid) our dog gets skunked again, we will cal David without hesitation. He's just that good. read more

Dave came out at midnight and was amazing with our 2 dogs! He was very thorough and explained everything to us. He even got the odor out of our house. I would call him in a heartbeat if our dogs ever get skunked again. He was a pleasure and I highly recommend his services. Thank you! read more

David Tepper is indeed a master! His treatment worked like a charm and our dog was skunk free within a short time. He gave us extra solution if she started to smell around the snout - the most difficult place to entirely eliminate smell. Our dog didn't learn her lesson and was skunked again two weeks later. We called David and he kindly took the time to answer my questions. He also has a video on his website showing how to deskunk on your own and sent me a FREE pdf detailing the solution to use and technique. Thanks David for all your help! read more

Skunkmasters - I'm a mighty hunter but not a happy camper after going through TWO deskunkings in the past month. - Pet Services Near Me

Late on a Sunday night our German Shepherd got sprayed with a skunk, we unfortunately discovered this after he ran through the house. One call to Skunkmasters and we were talking to David right away. David was the most helpful and patient with us in explaining what to expect and how to treat our dog at home. The solution worked really well! Would highly recommend. read more

I highly recommend Dave! My skunk attack happened at 11pm so I took matters into my own hands first. I used the mixture he suggests on his site and that helped immensely. The next day I called him and he said I had done the first steps right but if I felt there was a lingering smell on our Oscar or in the house to come see him. The After Skunk formula and house treatment I got from him was truly miraculous. He is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about de skunking our furry friends and it shows. I have now recommended him to several people in the neighborhood as the skunking problem has continued. I hope you never need him but if you do, he is your guy! Truly the skunk master. read more

Wow!! Just, wow! Yes. Buy his guide. Worked 100%. If your dog has been skunked as often as ours (our property backs up onto a marsh) then you have tried every stupid, homegrown, or store bought concoction imaginable... And none have worked very well, if at all. Well, this is it. Period. Worked the first time in a single application without so much as a trace of skunk odor left. Just go to his web site and spend the hilariously reasonable $$ on his well constructed, insightful, and easy to follow downloadable guide. Follow the ingredients list (with no substitutions, none) which you can get all of at any Walmart - most 24 hours a day - and you are set. Note: When you mix the ingredients, follow the recipe exactly. More is not better. Too much is not just right. We have actually tried the exact same ingredients before but in the wrong mixture. Wow what a difference. Think of it like food. Any two recipes can have the exact same ingredients and one tastes like garbage while the other is a delight. Same idea. Anyway, sadly Yelp does not allow 6 stars. Thanks so much from Matt, Donna, and Maisey. read more

I cannot give enough positive remarks about this service. David is very professional, passionate about his trade and gentle to the dog. We would highly recommend him or his instruction guide to anyone who has a dog that either been skunked or wants to prepare themselves in the event your dog does get skunked. We came home from dinner to relieve the babysitter around 10PM. Let the dog out to do his business before going to bed. Skunked! We have a huge golden retriever with long hair who is now rolling in the mud trying to get the skunk smell off of him. We had few options since it was so late and we couldn't bring him in the house. We found skunkmasters online, called and David was here within 1 hour. Fully cleaned the dog and today our house and dog are good to go. Amazing! read more

David is FANTASTIC! He is knowledgeable, kind, professional and efficient. He took time to get to know my dog and make us both feel comfortable before moving forward with anything. I would use him again in thr future and recommend him to anyone. A++ read more

We live in Texas and our dog was sprayed by a skunk in our backyard in the middle of the night and then ran through our house before we knew what happened. She was also clawed, so we had to take her to the emergency vet. By the time we got home, in addition to the awful smell on us and our dog, our house and car were saturated in skunk odor. We found out about Skunkmasters and from long distance David saved us. We can't thank him enough. He helped calm us and assure us we would make it through this and get the smell out of everything. He overnighted us products and gave us things to do in the interim that helped alleviate the smell immediately. He also told us what NOT to do, which is just as important. David's advice, guidance, products, availability, humor, and confidence really made a huge difference. It is obvious that David is not in this for the money, as the pricing is more than reasonable for everything he provides, but that he truly cares about helping people. If you ever need to de-skunk, please save yourself a lot of time and trouble and call David first no matter where you are in the country. He will definitely help you. Thank you so much David! read more

We woke up with a far less smelly dog and house, so we didn't ultimately need services, but Skunk Masters called me at midnight the night before to schedule an appointment for first thing the next day. The answering services was efficient and the technician was kind (and very calm for someone answering the phone well past normal bedtime!). He provided advice to help us through the night and it was so useful that we avoided any further mitigation appointments. This certainly will not be our last run-in with a skunk and we're glad to have met the team at Skunk Masters. read more

When our poor Bruno got skunked we tried every home remedy the internet could provide us to get the smell out of our house. We lost all hope until I found SkunkMasters. David gave us a ton of tips on how to tackle the smell and provided us with stuff to help get Bruno a little less funk-a-fied. While the smell of skunk still lingers in our home, (we didn't contact David until almost 48hrs after and he did not wash Bruno since we already gave him a ton of baths) it is getting so much better! Next time we will not wait and call David ASAP This was truly a lifesaver! Worth every penny! read more

A skunk died under our front porch. The wildlife company that removed the skunk told us to boil vinegar/water to get rid of the smell indoors. Didn't work. For 3 weeks the smell lingered. We tried everything-vinegar, vanilla, R86. It was awful. Finally, I called David and he came to our house the next day. His method worked. Within 15 minutes, the skunk odor was completely gone. He was extremely knowledgeable, professional and friendly. He also gave us product in case we encounter another skunk spray. Don't waste your your money on home remedies or OTC products, call David. I highly recommend Skunkmasters. read more

Great services by David. He's 24/7. Came out at 8pm when no one else is available. I agree I pay a premium for that service. But all that understand and paid for... it's expensive. I'd call again but hope there's some frequent flyer program in the future... like the 5th skunk is free! :) read more

If you find yourself in the unfortunate situation of needing deskunking treatment David is your guy. Thankfully a friend of mine passed on his information before I needed it. I was skunked with my 2 dogs on an evening walk. I was in full on panic mode -aka hysteria when I called David and left a message. He got back to me within minutes and gave instructions not to go into the house. He said to sit tight & promised to arrive within 20 minutes. True to word he was at our home by 10:30 pm. He set up a water heater on my driveway & hooked up to our outdoor hose and we got to work de-skunking both dogs and myself. He was especially patient & calm with one of my skittish dogs that takes awhile to warm up. We thoroughly washed and treated both dogs, collars, leashes, my clothing / shoes went into the trash :( David saved my sanity and a lot of heartbreak and extra work. We never entered the house so it did not need treatment. David really is the dog whisperer and so very thankful for his service! read more

David was so wonderful! We were in and out in less than 30 minutes and you couldn't even tell our Brady had been skunked.

Highly recommend this company and service. Was able to have David come to treat our dog with a partial power outage at our home. Dog smells great, and I was so happy to have her back in our home. Thank you!! read more

I can't say enough good things about Skunkmasters! Out pup got skunked in our back yard a few weeks back. Unfortunately, we didn't realize what had happened until she ran inside and jumped on our ottoman. We didn't know about Skunkmasters at the time, so we did our best to treat our dog's skunk smell on our own. We got rid of most (not all) of her stink, but our house smelled awful despite our efforts. We were most broken hearted about our oversized ottoman, which was part of a set we bought just a few months earlier. Most of the smell was coming from the ottoman. I called Skunkmasters and left a message. Within minutes, David called to get some info and made arrangements to come assess the situation just a short while after. He took great care to meet and gain the trust of both of our anxious dogs even though only one of them had been skunked. He smelled our pup and the ottoman thoroughly, then worked with us to determine a very fair price to touchup both the dog and the furniture with his after skunk spray. He told us that he would come back as many times as was necessary to treat both the dog and the ottoman as part of the price we paid, and he did just that. Over the course of that weekend, he came back several more times. Thankfully, our home, pup, and ottoman are all skunk-free! We were beyond relieved to not have to scrap the ottoman! We were wowed by David's friendly and professional vibe, as well as his immense knowledge on all things skunk. As we chatted, we learned more about his other services too, and if this happens again in the future, we'll definitely call him to help right away rather than bringing our stinky fur-baby indoors for a wash. read more

When our beloved Tootsie took a direct skunk spray to the face my wife called Skunkmasters within about 5 minutes. I was a bit hesitant as these types of businesses always cause me a bit of skepticism. David had two calls on his roster before us but he kept in contact and showed up three hours later (1am). He worked his magic and explained the chemistry of what he was doing, as he rubbed his nose throughout Tootsie's fur to locate specific spots of skunk oil concentration. The man has no oversion to skunk-stank at this point. He left us with a bottle of follow-up treatment for the next day, but we really didn't need it. David's thorough treatment the night before really did the trick. I HIGHLY recommend this service, but hope I never need it again. read more

This is an amazing service. Very professional yet compassionate and extremely effective. I would recommend to any family and friend who gets skunked (or who just has a bad odor that needs to be removed!). I was at a loss for how to not only get the smell out of my dog, my house, my car and myself. I woke up this morning and it is like it was a dream cause no smell! Yay! Thank you!! read more

Dave is a miracle worker. He was so good with our dog. Within 2 hours of our skunking our gal Ruby was cleaned, fluffy and skunk free. Lucky for us we were able to contain her in her crate until Dave arrived but he took care of everything and told us exactly what to do and will even come back for an additional treatment if need be. Please use him for any of your skunking needs. She's laying back in her clean crate on a new blanket chewing a bone, happy as can be. read more

Dave is one of a kind. :) No one knows the deskunking business quite like him! He was literally at our house within 5 minutes of us calling when our dog got sprayed in our backyard. He immediately got to business when he got here, working on the smells in our house and then cleaning our dog. We were really impressed with how well he did with our dog. Really never seen anything quite like it! He goes above and beyond ensuring that you're happy, as he's come twice now to give our house another round of de-smelling. Overall great experience. Thanks Dave! read more

My neighbors used this service when their dog was sprayed by a skunk. They came out, deskunked the dog and all the property and did a tremendous job. That's why when our dog got skunked last night the first thing we thought to do was to call skunk masters. The woman who answered the phone at 9:30 in the evening was so warm, friendly, and understanding. She let us know that someone would call us as soon as possible. A half an hour later I called back just to check and find out how far down the list we were because we were holding our dog outside. The second lady I spoke to took the report of our dog being sprayed and needing someone to deskunk her again along with my phone number and assured me someone would call me shortly. Unfortunately, I'm disabled so I was truly counting on help from this company. When the man finally called an hour and a half after the original call he had no idea who I was nor why I had called. When I told him where I lived he let me know he wouldn't be coming here. What a horrible thing to do...claim 24 hour emergency service and keep someone waiting for an hour and a half and then refuse them service. Shame on you. read more

It's Sunday night, baby is asleep and we are catching up on watching tv. Around midnight we let the dog out. As we let him back in I smell burning rubber, rotten onions I gag, WTF? and I realize he got skunked. He got in the house for a few seconds and immediately put him in garage. Now what? Do we leave him in garage and take him to groomer tomorrow? Put him in the car and gave my car smell? Called skunkmasters, answering service paged the owner he calls me back right away and was at our house within half an hour. He set up in the yard had his own light, portable water heater, the cleaning solutions, got working on the dog right away. He was very meticulous and put our dog at ease, smelled the dog behind the ears and face, feet etc to find the "stinky spot". Our dog was clean and smelling back like himself in about 30 minutes. By around 1 am we were back in bed and dog sleeping next to us. Price reasonable for the immediate and great service provided. Highly highly recommend, don't hesitate. read more
