Finally made it to the actual Skip's Hot Dogs location after remembering it from my college days. First time ever going to the physical spot. Got the 2-hot dog combo with chili slaw dogs. Pretty good -- nice flavorful chili, and the slaw added a good crunch and tang. Solid classic hot dog spot.

It is EXACTLY what it says- Chicago dogs!!! Perfect. They have nailed the relish and the dogs have that bite . The feel of the place is a delight style diner- you can see them prepare your food. Have your order ready- during peak times they are moving. However, they couldn't be nicer! Enjoy your visit and get the Chicago dog - gotta try it once.

Italian beef with hot and sweet peppers, side au jus and fries

First time trying the Italian beef here. I ordered it with both hot and sweet peppers with au jus on the side with fries that were hot and crispy. So good!

Very good service, we purchased hotdog, Italian beef and polish sausage with onion rings. Everything was great besides onion ring. The basic hotdog was even good despite price. I recommend, but I'm definitely getting Italian beef without my much hot pepper. I didn't realize I was sweating while eating until I left. Very nostalgic. Just do better with onion rings. If I could 4 1/2 for onion rings. Very nice decor.

Solid fancy hotdog place. I was surprised they also had hamburgers too. I had the jumbo chili dog with slaw. I was surprised the chili was mostly beans, my preference would have been all meat or little beans, but nonetheless it was tasty! The slaw was also good. My husband had a bratwurst with sauerkraut, he said it was just okay but he did like the fries. We wanted to taste another so we each had a bite of the polish sausage too and that was good/interesting. Beware this is not your cheap hotdog place. We spent $30 on two combos and one extra hotdog. FYI they close kinda early, 8pm on Saturday! Parking, private lot + drive through.

    Chili cheese dog, to go.

We've eaten here several times and usually the hotdogs are good. Today they were just ok. We went through the drive thru and ordered 3 chili cheese dogs, 1 Chicago dog, and fries. The dogs were wrapped loosely in aluminum foil and then placed vertically into the brown paper bag. When we got home, all of the toppings had slide down to the bottom half of the hotdog. Had they been placed horizontally in the bag, the toppings probably would've stayed in place. Today the buns seemed stale. The fries good and thicker than you'll find at most other fast food restaurants. The drive thru service is usually moves pretty fast. We've been inside a couple of times and the dining area is always clean. The staff is always friendly.

Went very recently for cheesesteaks. Not so good this time and way off from last time. Way too many peppers. More peppers than beef. And a bit greasy too. Hope it was only a bad night and not the new standard. Everything was ok.

Chicago dog and a Polish Sausage and a corn dog with mustard and ketchup.

I've been here several times. Just been a minute since my last visit. The hotdogs are usually good. I got a Chicago dog and a Polish Sausage and a corn dog this time. The hotdogs and sausage were good. Fries are sold separately if you get a combo.. I only my food on 9/15/2025. I ordered my food through Uber Eats.

I haven't been here since I was a wee 16 year old, so was excited to come on back to give it a try nine years later. My friends and I hopped into line excited for some good dogs and decent company, and left the line $60 broker. $60 bucks, you ask? For hot dogs? Tragically, yes. When they said one hot dog was $8 I thought that it had to be a foot long dog. Spoiler: it's not. Maybe 5" if we're being generous. OK, so in that case this must be like the most spectacular dog you've ever had, right? Also no. The dog was pretty average honestly-- maybe just a step or two above QT or RaceTrac. You can tell 75% of the business of this place are rich young people who are trying to absorb some semblance of culture by going to a "local" joint like Skips. The other 25% are old-timers who are only there because of inertia. My friends and I still joke about it to this day, and don't plan on going back anytime soon.

We ordered towards closing. I got the Philly cheesesteaks and the order came out fast. My friend ordered a corn dog and fries. We sat at the diner booth and left at closing. Staff were nice.

First time visit... Place was semi-busy but service was quick and our to-go order -- a burger and Philly cheese -- were very good.

Good place for a hot dog. Nothing fancy but gives retro vibes and seems to be decent quality. Parking is sometimes tight.

Do they veggie dogs or cheesesteaks?

I think they make cheesesteaks but I am not for sure about Veggie hot dogs. You have to check with them to see.

It's a walk up window spot with the menu and a bell, when you're ready to order, ring the bell. The service is friendly and succinct. Non invasive and just helpful without asking when needed. The seating area is a mix between covered and uncovered, with a small speaker playing contemporary tunes at a respectable level. There are string lights above, and I can only imagine how beautiful this all looks at night. I'd read a LOT about their fish sandwich. That it is a good size helping. That it has a great light fresh vinegar sauce with thinly sliced carrots and other crunchy veg. The fish tasted fresh fried. And I have to say, this is the Best fish sandwich I have ever tasted. I only am upset I hadn't come much sooner. I will have to return, probably on a monthly basis for that fish sandwich. There are enough pictures out there of the sandwich. But I also had the Thai basil lemonade and it was a nice pairing. Not a waste of time, effort or dough. Just go.

Bathrooms are extremely clean. Staff is friendly and fast. Cons. They only have outdoor seating. Most of the seats are stools without backs. There were some flies and a wasp lurking in the patio. Fans were blowing away my napkins. When I paid in cash they rounded my bill up to the next dollar. Never had someone do that before. $34 for a cheesesteak, potatoes, and small drink seems to be overly priced at a take-out spot. It would be more understanding if you could dine-in or had waiter service. I ordered the Korean Cheesesteak with smashed fried potatoes and a Bourbon Peach Punch. The drink was tasty but really small to cost $10. It looked like a 6oz cup. I would prefer to pay $5 more for a full glass. The smashed fried potatoes were covered in a sauce and some of the best potatoes I have had anywhere. The cheesesteak was made with pork (also a new experience for me) and had plenty of cheese and onions.

Just for giggles, I walked in and asked the guy behind the counter what the best thing on the menu was. I knew I was in trouble when he started going down the ENTIRE menu saying the same thing over and over.."we use only top grade sirloin..." and "we only use boneless chicken breast..." It should be noted that we were the ONLY customers in the store and the crew looked thoroughly bored. Hmmm, I wonder why....? Despite all that, I gathered the nerve to order a concoction called a Pizza Cheesesteak (why, I have no idea).
