SkinCareLab would not honor my Amazon voucher for an exfolitating pedicure that I purchased for 35. They basically said, "tough sh%t, it's expired". But how is it that my 35. that's in their bank account isn't expired? They are assholes and didn't honor their commitment. SkinCareLab and LivingSocial do NOT care about their consumers, they only care about the money. I will share with you a very hard lesson learned. The reasons below are why you should AVOID booking any appointments at SkinCareLab and making any purchases on Livingsocial. When purchasing a service "deal," as one would at SkinCareLab, one would naturally assume they can make an appointment. However, when you've called about 5 times and SkinCareLab is booked, you start to wonder. Did Livingsocial and SkinCareLab make an agreement to sell thousands of this one deal to be redeemed within a certain time frame and is well beyond redeemable capacity? Sure seems like it! After 5 attempts to book an appointment and failing every single time and the deal eventually expired, you have no choice, but to call Livingsocial and SkinCareLab. What does LivingSocial tell you? Sorry, the deal is non-refundable, but you can gift them. GIFT something where you cannot even redeem? That is the most brilliant answer ever. So I decided to "gift" my 2 deals to my friend. Here's a birthday gift, the only problem is that you can't really book an appointment, but I hope you enjoy the paper. What does SkinCareLab tell you? Karen, the store manager says, sorry, we did extend the deal for a couple of weeks (but failed to notify any of their customers, smart move.) There is nothing we can do for you except to use it at purchase value. Karen was rude and forced me to hold for her in the middle of our conversation. So lessons learned: Sell thousands of SkinCareLab & LivingSocial deals to be redeemed only within a certain time frame, knowing some customers will never be able to book so they will be forced to redeem at purchase value. Wonderful, knowledgable and kind staff, great for shipping Epicuren and other products and making skin care recommendations. I have fallen in love with SkinCareLab and my new favorite esthetician Romanka. She helped me really understand the issues that my skin was having and was really great company for the hour that I had my facial. I am definitely going to save up to visit her again in the next month. The Spa itself is lovely and quiet, with a great ambiance and really knowlegable staff. Romanka also gave me samples of some really wonderful creams (the Epicurien Acidophiolous as a probiotic and a Laroche Posay lotion for its anti-inflammatory uses). She did not pressure me to buy them at SkinCareLab and they have been wonderful (the Acidophilous feels and smells amazing). My boyfriend and I came here for basic facials. I made the appointment for a weeknight and there was a bit of a wait but not too bad really. The AC wasn't on so by the time I got there I was sweating and continued sweating. However... the complaints stop there. The room that the service was conducted in was so clean and spa like I was in heaven. Lights were dim... I was ready to take my face (and clothes) off and hop into that heated bed. My esthetician was really friendly, being chatty most of the time and explaining each thing she was doing. She never left the room and I let her know I'm allergic to almonds and not use products with it in it. WELL, good thing I did cause she checked and had to opt for other products to make sure I wouldn't be irritated. It was really great, she read labels more than once and asked questions to be absolutely certain. I hadn't had a facial in years but I really want to start coming more regularly (ever 8 weeks-ish) so this was my start. My boyfriend also had a great experience and said he wanted to come again with me! Uhm hello?! How many men say that?? I'm all over it. My husband and I have been going to SkinCareLab for about 2 years. Their service, from the phone to in-person, are top notch. We both have sensitive skin, but they are very conscious and use very good products. Based on whatever problems I'm having (it has varied from dryness, or too much sun exposure, or a random case of breakouts), she tailors the exposure of the products. They take the time to examine your skin, they actually care! Oh, and the pore extractions are actually the most painless I've ever experienced in the city :) The atmosphere is peaceful and relaxing. It's got a boutique-ish feel, never feels crowded. Very clean and well-maintained. Great results - our skin looks great for months after. Only negative would be the price... it's expensive. I had reached out to obtain a product for one of their high profile clients, and even knowing this, she was extremely rude, snotty, & condescending. I do not like ordering products online. I went to this store to get my Epicuren zinc sunscreen one or two months ago. The store was very clean. The staff was really nice. But the heat was strong... I was sweating as soon as I stepped into the store. There is doorman to the building on the first floor. You will need to sign and date when you visit (also need to state which floor/ what company) This store also carries other great lines, such as Colorscience and SkinCeuticals But I have not gotten a chance to do SPA/ facials there, I think I will find some time to do it this summer. read more

I unfortunately had the same negative experience as other Living Social customers. It's clear SkinCareLab oversold coupons, and they were not able to meet their commitments. Their pedicure aesthetician only comes in three days a week, and if you work like me, this means you only have between 5 pm and 7 pm to schedule an appointment. If you calculate this, it means they have 6 appointments a week for women and men who work, and they sold hundreds and hundreds of Living Social deals, which does NOT match up. Any time I called they were booked for two weeks solid. As the expiry date for the deal approached, I called again to make an appointment. They told me they had no appointments for me for the next two weeks, and in fact they would no longer honor the deal I purchased. I kindly explained that this was no fault of mine as I had called diligently for three months, but the female receptionist was EXTREMELY rude and said something that felt like "too bad". I called again to try and speak to a manager, and yet another female receptionist was also cold and unhelpful. They refused to extend the deal. I felt cheated. Is this how they treat potential new customers? So rather than lose my money, I used the promotional value of the Living Social and applied it to their services. (In the end it just cost me the same as if I hadn't used a Living Social deal at all, an astounding $75). On the plus side: 1) They use high end, paraben free lotions and potions. 2) Their nail polishes included a nice selection from YSL and Chanel at no additional charge. 3) It appears clean. On the negative side: 1) There are no dryers so you have to wait to air dry. 2) The woman who did my pedicure left awful polish bumps. 3) The "exfoliating" part was no better than a scrub from my corner nail salon. I expected more for a place that focuses on skin care. She used soap, water and a scrub cream, THAT'S IT. 4) It was RIDICULOUSLY pricey for something I could have paid HALF as much for at my regular place. There was seriously NO DIFFERENCE in procedure, hydration or care EXCEPT the polish was smudged and bumpy, which makes it officially worse. I would NOT go back to this place because of poor customer service and insanely high prices for nothing extraordinary (they should seriously offer more). read more

Its too bad this spa has such a grumpy person taking their calls. I'm a local and I have been there several times. I love the facility, but the woman I spoke with was terribly rude, and acted as if I was inconveniencing her by asking to schedule facials and other spa services. If the spa cares about thier clients returning I urge them to hire a new scheduler. I am a paying customer, but was treated like garbage. She gives the best facials and offers great recommendations for products, including what's a part of her own regimen (and not sold at the spa). Her perfect skin really says it all. On a lazy Saturday afternoon when I didn't want to be anywhere but my couch I ran out to get an exfoliating pedicure at the SkinCareLab ( I know poor gal!) Booking the day before on bTreated was a sure way I wouldn't miss it. Luckily when I got there "my couch" greeted me in the form of a white sectional, warm bath for my feet, and a friendly pedicurist (Wendy is great!). Within minutes my feet were enjoying an exfoliating massage which transformed this cold dreary Saturday into a delightful hour of R&R. Upon entering the spa, a friendly receptionist greeted me at the desk. Realizing I forgot to print out my bTreated receipt she was very cool and accommodating, without a care about it as everything booked on bTreated is saved in their computers. Not only will I be going back to SkinCareLab, but I will be checking bTreated every day for their fantastic deals! bTreated is not only an affordable way to pamper yourself, but great for the forgetful, as you can book an appointment minutes before! read more

I had their signature facial and for days afterwards my skin was dry and as rough as a cats' tongue. When I called for help, the receptionist wasn't the least bit apologetic and my technician never called me to advise me on what to do! The experience was not relaxing either- my skincare technician spent more time pushing products on me than doing extractions. I came to SkinCareLab from an Amazon Local deal (half price facial) and based on this salon being run by a dermatologist. This was my first facial experience and it went great! As others have stated, there is no a/c, so it was warm upon arrival, however once you enter the treatment room it is beyond relaxing. Overall the salon was impeccably clean and the staff were all very welcoming and friendly. The lady who conducted my facial walked me through everything she was doing and provided a lot of helpful info for daily maintenance. I got a Groupon deal for a facial and have finally found MY facial place. SkinCare Lab was clean and the people friendly. My aesthetician was Romanka. She did an amazing job on my skin, did extractions and I had NO redness afterwards--just glowing beautiful and soft skin. She did not try to push products or services which I really appreciate, espcially since I am on meds for my skin. All too often aestheticians are like--sure you can use this with Retin-A, without really knowing if its true (and more often than not they are wrong). She gave me a breif lesson about peels and my skin, and she was very knowledgable. I will definiately be back!! read more

I was going to Peninsula Spa for years and know exactly, how perfect facial should be like. I got 50% discount offer form Gilt and gave it a try. It was perfect from beginning to the end. I had Irish girl Jackie do my facial. Excellent! And no product pushing like in another places you go this days. She gave me plenty of advices, but did not base it on their spa shelfs. I got a facial here, which was adjusted specifically to skin type and skin concerns. They will even mix and match treatments from different facials to give you optimal results, as well as a full analysis of your products, skin care habits, and environment/stress factors. I love getting a facial (especially with the way my pores hold on to dirt), but I hate trying out new spas because I don't want to deal with pushy aestheticians who are just trying to sell product. Luckily, I stumbled on a wonderful spa with a wonderful aesthetician named Romanka. She was so professional, and did a great job with evaluating my skin to see what would be the best course of action for my Deep Cleanse Treatment. She also did a great job of educating me on what would be best for my skin for general everyday care (without pushing their products). I also really enjoy the fact that I was never left to just sit under a steamer or to just sit alone while a mask dried; Romanka was always there massaging my neck and shoulders, which really enhanced the overall experience. In addition, her extractions were amazingly painless--in fact, next time I'm going to tell her to make me cry a little. I would gladly go to a hole in the wall joint for this kind of attentive treatment, but fortunately Romanka's care is performed in a very nice, clean spa, that has all the amenities, including heated tables to maximize relaxation. I'm glad I don't need to look for a new spa for awhile--Can't wait to go back. read more

After trying over 20 spas in NYC, I am very satisfied with this one. I had a quality facial that left my face feeling refreshed and glowing. It was ideally relaxing and just what I needed. The esthetician was incredibly professional and skilled. The facility itself was clean and in a very well kept building. They did not push products. Nevertheless, the spa offered an excellent selection of quality products if needed. The prices for services and products were very reasonable and relatively less expensive than other spas. I made an appointment at SkinCare Lab after reading reviewed on Yelp. I'm getting married in a few months, and with the stress of planning plus having had a few makeup trials that week, my skin was starting to show the effects. I got the Deep Cleansing Facial. It was great. The room was very serene and I started relaxing immediately. The facialist was really sweet and gave me great advice on things I can do to improve my skin. The facial itself was great. The name of the facial says it all. My skin felt so clean I almost didn't want to put makeup on it for a few days. I was having a mild breakout on my chin and it cleared up within a day. She did a lot of extractions which is always my least favorite part, but such a necessary evil. There was also a shoulder, arm, and hand massage that was divine. I can't wait to go back. The only reason I'm giving it four stars instead of five is I felt there was a little bit of a hard sell for products at the end. After the facial was over and I got dressed, she spent about 10 minutes outside with me in their merchandise area telling me what she thought I should buy. I just politely smiled and nodded, but it was a little intense. Plus, she was running behind schedule and her next client was sitting in the waiting room, staring at us while she tried to sell me products, which was kind of awkward. I bought a Groupon for a facial at the skincare lab and payed full price for a massage for my husband on the same day. I reconfirmed my appointment three days prior to the massage and facial however on the day of the appointment I was brought back for my facial which took approximately 60 minutes and was great but when I walked out my husband was still sitting in the waiting room. He informed me that the masseuse never showed up even though we we confirmed our appointment three days ahead of time. The manager/owner was somewhat apologetic however she never offered to comp us a full massage or anything to make up for for the waste of the afternoon and our time. Not very good customer service especially when there are hundreds of other spas a New York City that would offer more to retain their customers. We won't be going back. read more
