When addressed after the double dipping was noticed, Maria literally responded that the high temperature kills the bacteria... this is literally untrue and a health violation. A google search will tell you: * "professional wax pots typically operate between 130°F and 150°F. This temperature range is just warm enough to comfortably apply to your skin without causing burns." * "However, it is completely insufficient for sterilization and can actually create an environment where bacteria thrive and multiply." * "To completely kill bacteria, viruses, and pathogens, a substance must reach a boiling temperature of at least 212°F to 220°F (100°C) and hold that heat for 5 to 30 minutes. If an esthetician applied wax to your skin at that temperature, it would cause severe, scalding medical burns." * "Because the heat of the wax cannot sanitize itself, salons must rely on strict physical hygiene protocols to prevent the spread of infections like folliculitis, staph, or viruses." She really took the time to ask me about my skin concerns and current skin care. The facial itself was amazing! She made me dressed into a bathrobe and lay on a bed. The bed was so warm and comfortable that I almost fell asleep during the treatment. She proceed to double cleanse, exfoliate, use of face masks and finished with applying layers of different serums, eye creams and face creams. My favorite part of the facial was the Neverskin Face, this machine uses hot and cold technology to brighten, smooth and lift your skin, it was extremely soothing, painless and my skin felt incredible afterwards. I have incredibly sensitive, acne-prone skin with mild rosacea (for context, I've been on accutane twice) and have always had a difficult time finding skin care products that relieve my acne without setting off my skin. I first visited the Beez Kneez in August to get a Brazilian wax before Burning Man. Unfortunately, my previous wax several weeks prior had left my skin in horrible shape, ingrown hairs all over the place and a bunch on their way to the surface. Jodi immediately asked if I'd been exfoliating (no, lol) which led us to a discussion about my skincare routine. As I've mentioned before I have incredibly problematic skin so my routine at the time was very minimal for fear of exacerbating the problem. I was really just rinsing with water and using retin-a at night. Jodi recommended coming in after Burning Man to discuss a skincare routine. As I don't live in San Francisco, she said she offers FaceTime consultations and suggested that might be an option. Fast forward a few weeks and I was AMAZED at how my bikini area looked after her wax. Most of the ingrown hairs were gone and I couldn't see any more coming to the surface. I immediately called Jodi and thanked her for SAVING my vag and excitedly told her I'm interested in a consultation with her about my routine. I sent her a list of the products I used (most of which she nixed) and went all-in on her recommendations. I know skincare is a process, and it will take several weeks to months to really evaluate the results, but I can't thank Jodi enough for the time and care she put into developing a routine for me, as well as her down-to-earth yet reassuring approach to my problems.
