As a group of 5 adults, we had a great time going tubing at Ski Ward during this especially snowy winter. We got tickets day of without any issue and the whole process was very easy and not at all fussy. The tickets are for 2 hour slots, but honestly they are pretty lax about it, so you could go for as long as you wanted (after about 2 hours, most of us were all set). Worth a trip to Shrewsbury for a silly afternoon in the winter! read more

And their website is very outdated and often not up to date. We wanted to book private lessons with the same instructor for one of our kids. My whole family and I were very excited to try this place out since it is only minutes from home. We went from excited to upset almost instantly. They ran deals that they promoted on Facebook and their website of lift tickets being only 5$! So I purchased them on their website for my whole family. Upon checking in the girl had told me there was a glitch on the website and that deal is no longer valid.. so I went from paying 5$ a ticket to 50$ a ticket... was very upset and still have not received my refund from the online tickets.. Anyways we got over it and made our way to the carpet slope. I was teaching my 5 year old how to snowboard. Meanwhile there was a class going on with instructors. Can you believe the instructor said to me and my 5 year old that his students would likely run us over if we continue to be in their way??? I was so shocked I didn't even have a response. In the end, we were very unhappy with the staff here. From the ticket desk, to the rental desk to the instructors. Everyone was just rude and sick of their job. The only nice people were the ones working in the Cafe. They were awesome! The fact that they couldn't honor their "website glitch" but instead charged us full price when they only had 2 trails open is crazy. I was hoping to be a lifetime customer but I will make sure no one I know will ever set foot on that mountain. Very disappointed and waste of money. read more

Last winter I signed my kid up for snowboarding lessons at Ward in Shrewsbury, and our instructor James was fantastic! He was patient, fun, and made learning easy. My child gained confidence fast and had a great time. Highly recommend James and the Ward team! read more

We had an event here in the off season (September) and we were blown away! The facility is great a great set up for our crowd of about 70 people. There is a bar inside and tables were set up for a good sized party inside but the weather was good so we were mainly outside. The outdoor space is perfect for a big crowd! There is a deck with comfortable seating/tables and we paid for the fire pit which was a nice sized solo stove. The kids had a blast! There was summer tubing, volley ball, corn hole and plenty of space to run around. The staff was completely amazing and walked around offering apps and catered to our every need. The food was absolutely delicious - everyone at the event was raving about the food. We had an open bar and I had set a limit on the bar tab - I was shocked that I only came half way to the total with 55 adults drinking! That impressed me because I think a venue could have easily charged me the full amount and I wouldn't have known the difference. I had a few requests, certain beer on tap and asked if we could offer s'mores - the staff accommodated every request- they are true professionals in this area. If you want to hold a larger event that has tons of space to entertain your guests, have amazing food and work with hard working and honest people, ski ward is the place to go! Strongly discourage anyone from taking lessons at this mountain. Poorly run, with only teens available on the hill to troubleshoot issues, over-packed lesson sizes, and really subpar customer service. The price paid is not worth the low quality of the lessons, which mostly include your child just standing on top of the hill waiting 20-35 minutes between turns to actually do anything. read more

We had a ton of fun with the TubeSlide here! We were 4 adults and 2 kids - 6 years old, and everyone loved it. The hill you go down is long enough and smooth enough. They have a pulley that brings you to the top in your tube, or you can walk. The more fit in our group walked once , and then decided the pulley was the way to go. My only complaint is that the kids working here weren't the most helpful. They had to stop the pulley system more than once for us because it's kind of difficult to get out of the tube fast enough, and each time they made it seem like we had ruined their whole day. They also yelled at me once to hurry and get my tube, while I was literally trying to stand up from tumbling out of the tube. He yelled at me like I had decided to just lay in the snow and take a break. Also, the parking lot was disgusting. We had to thoroughly clean the car the next day. And finally, there's no information about what to do when you get there. There was a very long line to talk to someone, so we waited only to find out there was a machine we could have used because we bought tickets online, but it doesn't say that anywhere. The management and organization/cleanliness leave plenty to be desired, but the tubaslide was great! read more

decent place! i'm a novice at skiing and found it ok. if you've skied for a significant amount of time i think i would find this place underwhelming. they have one chair lift going up the main hill. otherwise they have lots of magic carpets. i'm not from MA so didn't know about the concept of ski week. we went end of February and discovered that it was filled with elementary schoolers learning how to ski. note that as a result of it being "ski week" they did not give weekday pricing... read more

Terrible customer service. I am a ski instructor at Killington, and brought my friend to help her ski for the first time. She gets hang of it really quick so I take her to a blue, we are stopped by ski patrol and told she shouldn't be on this trail and to stick to the green. She gets down without a problem, and we go to the lift and the liftees tell us we CANT TAKE IT because ski patrol told them to not let us. We paid 68$ for this ticket!!! For a hill!! We eventually make our way onto the lift but not before being treated like idiots and not before getting attitude and head shakes from patrol liftees and attendants. So dissapointed. read more

This is a small ski/tubbing park. This isn't something I would suggest someone traveling any great distance for but if you are local and looking for a fun activity, this is a solid choice. I will say that the staff can be somewhat hit or miss. They aren't downright rude, but they are certainly, shall we say, abrasive. One thing that rubbed me the wrong way, was someone yelling at my eight-year-old little cousin to "roll off the tub!" when she was clearly scared and struggling. If you don't know how to handle scared kids, you probably shouldn't be working in a place that attracts a bunch of kids. There were some really great staff members though. We bought my little cousin ski instructions and we found the person working with her to be extremely patient and friendly. My cousin is begging to come back so they must have done something right! Overall, this is not the best ski/tubbing place in the area, but it's not a bad one. read more

I took my 2 kids, ages 9 and 5, to Ski Ward for private ski lessons recently for their first time skiing. I had never been to Ski Ward before, and it was recommended by a friend for beginners. I was very impressed with everything. When we got there a half hour before their lesson (we intended getting there earlier so were rushing), the woman helped us find their rental ski boots and helmets right away. When we realized I had mistakenly ordered a size too small for both kids, this same woman quickly got them both the correct size and even helped me put the boots/buckle the boots on the kids. She knew that we were in a rush to get to their lesson on time, and couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. When we arrived at their lesson after picking up their ski rentals 5 minutes late, both of their instructors were very nice and excellent teachers. Both kids progressed very well for their first time skiing and both instructors went 5 minutes longer to make up for us being 5 minutes late which I appreciated. I also noticed there were barely any lines at any of the lifts which is a huge plus. The man at the top of the magic carpet ride was also very nice and helped my daughter up when she fell at the top. All of the people working behind the food counter in the lodge were also all super nice and friendly. I couldn't have asked for a better first time skiing experience for my kids! read more

This is a hidden gem in Shrewsbury - they seem to always have snow even when rain and warm temps have eliminated it all from your yard. Great ski school for the kids, great ski patrol to help if they have any problems. We like to go have a beer and burger on the patio and watch the skiers and snowboarders on the hill. They even host racing a couple nights a week so you can go down and watch the high school race teams. There aren't many of these places around anymore, take advantage of it! read more

This place is so mean, unethical and unprofessional. I tried snowtubing once and it was great because everyone followed the rules and things were safe and fun. This time, it was completely the opposite. They sold nighttime tickets at only $20 for beginners. They oversold the tickets so it was so crowded that even basic social COVID distancing was impossible. What they really meant beginners area, is not to use magic carpet because even after I paid for myself to ride with my child, the staff (to be specific, the long grey hair dude with long beard) would not stop the belt and left to help those who got stuck at the exit, after I scratched my stuff, he came back immediately to help others. He then ignored me, I went to customer service, but it was so crowded and busy, I left. I wrote emails not just for a refund but to tell them this business practice is BAD. They ignore me. This is plain bad. Think about how many they can scam by asking only 20 bucks each and actually left them to a side to hike up or use an unsafe carpet - and then left after learning its not worth it. Don't fall into that TRAP. I wouldn't have written this if they respond or was fair. This is not fair. read more

Save your money...get beginner lessons at a place that actually cares. I have never been so disappointed in an establishment. We signed up for beginner lessons for our daughter..a group of 5 lessons...45 mins each. The first lesson they didn't even put their skis on!! The other lessons were ridiculous spending little time with each child...no fundamentals...they maybe had her try to ski 3 times in 45 minutes. I am so dissatisfied...and to top it off they don't even block the area off...so new skiers come barreling through the lesson area within feet of your child. When a few parents brought it up...the staff said...we feel the same way there is nothing we can do...really? They obviously don't care about safety. Misleading ticket names and rude lift attendants: The "beginner area" tickets don't apply to the entire beginner area, but nobody tells you that. There are no signs that indicate what is what, and when purchasing the ticket they don't explain that the T-Bar isn't covered. And when you try to ride the T-Bar (which also has no signs indicating it requires a full lift ticket), the attendants are rude and yell to get off this lift because we don't have access to it. Any reasonable person would assume that the "beginner area" includes the T-Bar, so to break that assumption without telling customers is incredibly misleading. While it does cover the "rope pull," that was closed (at least the day I went), but of course they don't tell you this either when buying the tickets. We don't plan on returning - the tickets are expensive for such an unpleasant experience. read more

They will deliver disappointment and waste of your time and energy... they close for no foreseeable reason without any attempt to notify people who travel from a distance. They do not EVER return or answer phone calls, so don't think you can hedge your bets by calling them. The forecast was excellent. There was not so much as a sign on the door, so we waited 20 minutes in line after driving well over an hour (layering clothes, planning a day around this outing, etc.) to find out that tubing was closed. We had checked the website multiple times before leaving, emailed AND called, and when we got home there was a very late email message saying they'd be closed for 2 days for maintenance(we have no mobile internet and the return email was 20 hours after we wrote). Surely they could have seen that coming and actually alerted potential customers???? A follow up email was never returned, so they certainly didn't care about apologizing for screwing over our day. It's close and cheap. But the people there range from useless to proactively anti-customer. So while it's just 20 minutes from home, I'd rather spend my money anywhere else. Went today with the kids. Met friends and their kids. While riding the magic carpet, I picked up a 3-year-old about 10 feet from the end, so as to make the exit easier for all involved. I'd done the same with my 5-year-old ~20 minutes earlier, without incident. The lift operator, Dave, thought it a good idea to stop the carpet. His stated reason- to "test my balance" (which he said he expected to be fine). In so many words, he stopped the ride to see if it would cause an accident with the three-year-old I was holding. I'm a former professional skier. I was stable. I was fine. I'm also a big guy, so if I'd fallen, it's likely I would have hurt the kid. For what? So the operator could create this teachable moment. I voiced my displeasure and advised Dave that I would be sharing this news with management, owners, and here online. From there, we parted and moved on. But then Ed, the operations manager sought me out. His aim was to scold me for engaging with his staff. While Dave had been apologetic, Ed's sole interest was in defending his guy and the safety-based decision to stop the lift. This is complete BS. From the ticket counter to the hill and beyond, this place is run by people who dislike customers. Go elsewhere. Anywhere will do. read more

Definitely skiers world. My friend and I were the only 2 snowboarders around. Super busy but expected since it's the only decent hill around. Stick to chair lifts if you board, J lifts suck for us. The ticket set up was unorganized a bit with their line situation and printer breaking down but only delayed trip by 10 minutes. Bathrooms are clean. Haven't tried food. read more

The venue was a perfect fit for such an event. Sure, the food was not 5-star, but I just raced my ass off in the mud, so it didn't matter. We really like this place. I's not Aspen, or even Loon, but for kids and beginners it's great. Yes, as other reviewers have stated, communication is sketchy and borders on non-existent, which is why we buy all our tickets online. The ski instructors were great to our kids and the tubing was very fun (even for adults!). We really like the range of "bunny hills", though you have to be careful which tickets you buy. The cheapest pass only allows the very smallest hill (with magic carpet). The others with T-bar and chair lift cost more. For our skill level, this place is great. read more

Review of skiing experience only not of tubing, events, etc. Don't waste your time skiing at ward. Literally 200" vertical for prices that are close to that of wachusett. Lower mtn ticket at wachusett is actually cheaper than Ward and even that side of the mtn is much better and a better place for beginners to learn. I am amazed at how many reviews are positive regarding the lessons for kids. Instruction for kids at Ward is NOT good. When my kids were beginners we skied a little at both Ward hill before switching over to WAWa, amazing the difference in quality of instruction between the 2 places. The price point for the group type of kids lesson and one on one is similar too. The key difference is the kids instructors over emphasize the wedge for controlling speed at Ward. This is a dated way to teach and sets up a bad habit that is hard to break. kids progress much faster when you start with J - turns, weight forward to break the front of your boots, etc, which is how basically how every other place teaches beginners. The difference is very evident if you watch the teen and pre-teen racers at WAWa. read more

Great family mountain. Have done a great job during this crazy winter and provided some fun outdoor activity for my kids.

Size matters and personal touch matter. After a very unsatisfactory experience, Ski Ward has reached out and tried to rectify the situation, acknowledging that it could have been handled better. Unlike a "wing and sub" place in Hudson, Ski Ward owned the situation in the end, and we completed school ski package. Staff as I have mentioned are really nice and the lookout post from the Bar is great, as is the tender - really great with kids. The mechanism for the T-Bar is lower than most (based on inquiries with the industry) BUT it is installed, according to Ski Ward, to the manufacturers specifications. Just be cautious if you are over 5'8" and stand more to the front towards the tail end of where you can grab on to the T bar, and you should be ok - but exercise caution always. Its small - so if you are looking for exciting ski adventure - this is a "petite" place to be - but a good one to get a ski fix out of the way if you are short on dough or gas to head out to Wachussetts! read more

No one answers the phone, they tell you to email but then you get an email that says they won't respond to that either. Tubing sucks and employment is rude. My 9 year old was terrified of the woman running the tube lift because she yells at you to hurry up! And the process of jumping out of your moving tube at the top is just a joke. My son fell out and hurt his knee on ice, was clearly crying and in the lane of other on coming tubes! The guy running the lift at the top didn't stop it and others were running into him! No help from employees at the top to push riders down.. and then the mats at the end don't even slow you down! You go off a cliff at the end and slam into these big yellow cushions for a little whip lash. Over all a terrible experience and I would never go back! Id call to speak to a manager but I know I wouldn't ever get a hold of one. read more

I was really nervous because I saw a lot of reviews saying the staff were really unfriendly on the tubing lines. Especially cause one of my kids has some balance issues and I knew she'd have a hard time getting out of the tube. But they were super friendly and made it hilarious when we had trouble getting out of the tube. If I could give it zero stars I would. We drove over an hour to bring our 2 kids tubing. We checked the website before we left and no where did it say I could buy tickets online nor did it say anything about availability. I called 4 times (once before we left and 3 times on the road) dialing every extension it listed but NO ONE answered, not even the managers line. When we arrive at the ticket window there's a sign that says tubing is sold out. The girls at the window said we were outta luck they couldn't help, so I ask for the manager who was apparently too busy to deal with our concerns so I had to track her down on the slopes myself. She still made me wait about 5 minutes simply carrying on with what she was doing as if i wasn't standing there waiting!! When I explained the situation she didn't care at all, her only response was sorry we're sold out. When I expressed concerns with the way they handle ticket sales and the lack of phone customer service, she also didn't care. She actually turned and started talking to a little kid in the snow school while I was mid sentence. Her name is STEPHANIE and I've never seen such horrible "management" although I don't even wanna use that term because she's no better than Johnny part timer trying to make it through college with a weekend side job at the movies. I don't understand how she even got the job to begin with. Absolutely horrible experience, we will NEVER return here. I can't wait to take my family and my money to another mountain. read more

Love this place so much. Excellent place for a kid to learn to ski! The teens that teach the classes are awesome. They are friendly and get the kids up and running quickly. It only took a few lessons for my kiddo to figure it out. The teachers were fun and made sure all the kids were safe and having a good time. It's not crowded either. Went her with my kids on February vacation. We live more closer to Nashoba but since it was February vacation we decided to go her for less crowds. We were right! There were no crowds. Kids had a good time snow was freshly made no matter ice slopes. It was a fun 2 hours. The two stars less is for signs there is not a lot of signs indicating where is what like which slope is for certain types of skiers or where tubing is located. That may be because there are not a lot of crowds less signs needed. We walked around lost until someone nicely explained where to go. All the workers were friendly and informative. read more
