Andres A.

We had a great time visiting the resort area. Although we did not visit during ski season, we were there for the fall foliage. What a wonderful time we had. The resort area has plenty of small shops and restaurants to stop in and have a good time. We really enjoyed going in and out of the different places. We also took part in several of the festivities during Columbus Day weekend. We purchased tickets for the brew fest, chili cook off and the concert. What a great time had by all.

Proof of purchase

This weekend was my first time visiting Stratton resort. I was there on Saturday January 27, 2024. We drove up from New Jersey to go snow tubing at Coca Cola tube park. I purchased 2 tickets for tubing from the customer service desk at the base of Stratton's Sun Bowl at 1:30pm on Saturday 1/27/2024. I was told when I purchased them that my tickets were for the 2pm time slot that same day. I was not given the tickets at the window. Instead I was instructed to walk over to the Tube park and get my tickets from the window counter. I arrived at the tube park at 1:45pm , fifteen minutes early for checking in. To my surprise, they could not find any record of my tubing purchase for 2pm. I waited patiently while he searched the computer. I provide proof of purchase receipt of the two tickets. And he had called the base desk at sun Bowl and spoke with the lady who had sold me my 2 tickets. He confirmed that she sold me 2 tickets. And went back in the system and found my information was incorrect. He told me that instead of tubing , I was sold climbing tickets?? And when I asked how we could resolve this issue, which was NO fault of my own, since I purchased these tickets from your ticket counter at Sun Bowl and I specifically asked for tubing tickets. Your employee who was working the ticket counter sold me the incorrect tickets. After 30 minutes of us patiently waiting to go tubing, he finally called a manager to resolve the issue. I was then told that the manager asked us to repurchase new tickets for tubing and afterwards that I should go back to the ticket desk at the Sun Bowl and request a refund for the previous tickets purchased.. How does that benefit the customer? That is an inconvenience to the customer. And no apologies or attempts to fix this mistake were made. This was handled very unprofessionally! And for that I am disappointed and writing this letter. I told both employees that I would be reporting this incident and that I would like a full refund of both tickets purchased and that I will NOT be visiting your resort ever again in the future. I was told it was an honest mistake, but then how come it took 30 minutes for a manager to be called, before I was told to purchase new tickets. By that time it was already past my 2:00pm time slot.

The date that the order has been cancelled

I purchased 6 ski classes on 11/25,11/26 and 11/27 to celebrate our thanksgiving. We arrived the ski resort around 8:30am on 11/25. The customer service and the ski school were closed. No notice. No email. No phone call. We had no idea what happened to the ski resort. Until I called the customer service number on the reservation confirmation email, I was told the classes had been canceled because of the weather. I totally understand the ski resort could be closed for the safety reasons but I couldn't accept they canceled the classes without any notice in advance. The staff said they had informed the customers by email on 11/22. No. She was lie. Please see the attached picture below. The cancellation emails had been sent "AFTER" I called customer service on 11/25. They didn't notice us in advance!!! They didn't notice us in advance!!! We drove more than 5 hrs to the ski resort and planed other activities to celebrate my husband's birthday after we dropping off our children at ski school. All of a sudden we had to change our schedule. We had to make any calls to look for other places to ski. The nearest open resort is about 1.5 hrs driving. We went there, spent 1 hr to purchase the lift tickets and rental tickets. My husband has all the ski equipments but he didn't bring them. Because the kids would go to ski school and we planed other activities for we two! Now, he had to buy the ski goggles and helmet again! Because the resort didn't have the goggles and the right size helmet for rental! So that we had to buy them again! Unfortunately, we didn't ski that day. They sold out the right size boots after we purchased the goggles and the helmet! It was holiday! Everything has to be planned in advance! We waited another half hour to return the tickets and drove another 1.5 hrs back to the hotel. It was holiday and we did nothing!!! If they noticed us in advance, we could plan other activities for thanksgiving. We could go Florida, Chicago,... we could cancel the hotel without any charges. Or we could book another ski resort. Even there are ski school, we could bring our own ski equipments and don't need to buy them again. But they didn't notice us in advance! The staff said that she could only refund the tuition. We don't satisfied about the solution, the staff promised that the manager would call us. It was 4 days, nobody called me! I also wrote email to them but no one response! It is hard for people to plan a vacation. Tickets, hotel, activities... everything should be prepared in advance. We were so excited for this vacation after 18 months epidemic! And then, we stayed in the hotel! This resort have very good facilities but their staff don't care about the interests of customers!

Over the shoulder down the mountain shot, you can see another mountain in the distance if you zoom in some.

Ok this mountain and resort are by far one of my top favorites!!!! Been here so many times and just never got around to leaving a review.... welll.... it's freaking time!!! So of all the times I been to this wonderful mountain I never really ate inside the mountains grizzly bar. This time I did and it's what sparked this review. The food there was awesome!!!!! Everything I ate was delicious and the service and bartenders make it all that much more enjoyable. Great job on wonderful service stratton mountain!!!! THe bar scene at grizzlys is super friendly and super welcoming I def enjoyed my time here. As for the mountain itself well it's still also one of my favorites! Plenty of terrain for all skill levels and very well managed lift lines and grooming. I must say I very few, of any, complaints ever about stratton. Stratton you have my heart and I can't wait to come back again!!!!

The Safety and Ski Patrol are outstanding. Extremely friendly and knowledgeable, even when inclement weather conditions are present.

What could be improved?…read more Nearly everything. They've earned their 1 star! For nearly $500/night, you get: - access to a quite nice indoor hot tub. That is the one thing about this place where the pictures are not nice enough to show that it's actually good. - 2 queen beds, with decent mattresses. It's all downhill from there. - a barely adequately sized bathroom. Close the door before you sit on the toilet because otherwise you can't. - oh, and that door? Squeaky enough to rouse the dead. Awful. - Dead is how I feel right now after trying to sleep for the night. The combination of the heating system (which is akin to the cheapest motels I stayed in during a college spring break trip to New Orleans -- it functions by turning on and off all night, with "on" sounding like an airplane engine) and the pillows (each bed came with 3 bad pillows and 1 good one. There are 3 of us. Guess who drew the short stick?) has left me wondering if I'll be able to take advantage of our $200 lift tickets or my $300+ lesson. I can, and will fix the pillow situation for the next two nights of our stay. The best ear plugs I own aren't blocking out the airplane engine. - The room is *tiny*. almost no room to walk, and seriously very little space in the room for our bags and supplies. Did I mention we're here on a ski vacation? Do you know how much stuff is involved? - no refrigerator, minimal amenities, screaming kids in most directions... I am only grateful that we're on the top floor... - And the restaurant-- where breakfast will be and our dinner was last night, left plenty to be desired. Writing a separate review on that; it's called 43.1°. It feels like with this place, the goal is to get you in here for the longest stay possible, knowing that if you can EVER afford anything else (note, those start at $700+) you'll never come back. Admittedly, part of the problem for us is that we just stayed in a luxurious inn in Saratoga Springs, also for $500/night. But the difference is that EVERYTHING there was magnificent. You can read that review sometime in the next few days... after I attempt to catch up on sleep.

Ah the eternal struggle between price, location and value. The location is excellent. You could…read morewalk to the slopes if you wanted to, or jump on a shuttle which is literally there every 5 minutes. The place is old. Everything about it screams it was built during the Roman Empire (okay I'm kidding but it's very dated). It's clean. Although our room had a musty smell to it, it was undeniably clean. Temperature control was a challenge. With the heat on its lowest setting it was unbearably hot in the room. We ended up shutting it off entirely and just bundling up which seemed to work. It's too bad there wasn't a mini fridge in the room. That was a big disappointment. I will say this, the breakfast was excellent! Lots of options to start off your day well fed. The eggs were perfect. Value? Eh. It's a tough one. There are no bargains to be had at a ski resort. No matter what you're paying a premium. I settled on 3 stars taking everything into consideration. I would stay here again though. If you're a family of four you might find the rooms a bit cramped. There were just 2 of us and it was fine. A

Like, you walk in...the keys to your room are in a basket with a piece of paper on the counter, name on that as well. It's very weird. I guess the ...the future? Lemme say a few things..good and bad about that. The Good! Ok...super convenient. In.....and OUT! You drop your key in the basket and bounce. No check-in or check-out. But see! AH! There is also some bad to that...."bad" FOREVER we have ALL dealt with front desk employees. So...we all have gotten used to that, right? Of course. There is some kind of comfort in having a front desk employee there. Thats about all the good...I would say lol The BAD! What if you lock your key in your room on accident? You are basically screwed. Not sure if there is a way to contact anyone to get you back in and yes....they are actual keys! Not the little cards we all see at regular, mainstream hotels. I DID! lock my key in the room the following morning. THANKFULLY! there was ONE employee there...BUT she was there to make the continental breakfast...which I will talk about in a min. She was able to give me my spare key. Thank God. If you need something in the middle of the night...oh well. There is no one there to assist you. They tell you where extra towels are and stuff like that on the paper you get when you check yourself in. It's an Inn...and Inn very close to the slopes. So when there is actual snow and the place is packed....I would assume its similar to being in a college dorm lol Don't get me wrong tho, place is very homey. The common room is incredible and I kept imaging it when I was there....FK! this would be so much fun during ski season and this place is full of people! HOWEVER! People drink and drink a lot. The walls here are THIIIIIIIIN!!! So be prepared for that! BRING. EAR. PLUGS! and use the in room ac unit for the fan to drown out noise from other rooms. You will need it. The views from the rooms are beyond incredible. I have some attached. Beautiful views of the slopes and in the Fall...the colors. The breakfast! FKN! INCREDIBLE!!! She put out all the basics, bagels and whatnot, full muffins...amazing! She made these cinnamon muffins....SO. GOOD!! I too a few home with me to give to my mom haha! Overall, it's a great place. Really is. I would definitely stay again. OH! They allow dogs....for a fee of course...even the super tiny ones. They will know too if you have a dog with you. Cameras....everywhere. It's located on a busy road..so keep a close eye on those pups. The grounds around the Inn are amazing. Cute little pond out back, sitting areas all around. It's a wonderful place. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone going through Manchester or anywhere near there. Very unique experience. I honestly can't remember ever staying at an Inn before. There is something definitely...better..about an Inn vs staying at one of the big hotel chains. Feels more like....a house? with lots of strangers haha! Thanks for reading, YelperBromleyians! Cheers!

My kids loved the inn and the great room gave us a wonderful place to connect with cousins but...there is very little soundproofing in the rooms and, as a result, it was a bit stressful to try to keep our two (under ten) quite enough that we felt we weren't disturbing other guests. We had issues with the Roku television maintaining a connection to the internet and the hot tub (while lovely) is directly outside a room - you can see into the room while you're sitting in the hot tub. Most other guests seemed understanding...but we definitely got a few frustrated glares.

Do not put your expectations too high and go skiing so that you are tired and easily fall asleep and you will not be disappointed. Remember, you're paying somewhere near $100 per night while other properties start around $200. Keep that in mind at all times. The good: - cheap (cheap is relative; this is cheap for a ski area!) - reasonably clean room - free wifi - comfortable beds - excellent shuttle to the ski area (never had to wait more than 5 minutes) - the staff was friendly - bar and dinner food (duck tacos+++, sliders ++, winter green salad+++) - windows that open and let in lots of light (I see some rooms could not make this statement) - hot showers and plenty of pressure - lots of plugs for computers and i-stuff - lighting was sufficient - cheap (did I mention it's cheap?) - working LCD TV with basic cable (bring an hdmi cable and you can connect it) The bad: - worst AC/Heat unit ever. It will never turn off! Ask to have it disconnected and get a space heater. - room to room noise; especially units above mine (123) - no coffee maker in the room The I don't care: - no lunch - no elevator - nice lobby with fireplace - ski storage in the room (come on build a ski storage area) - minimal free breakfast (I guess it's worth what you pay for it) If you want fancy do not stay here. Taking a shower was difficult because whenever someone else on our floor would shower the water temperature would drop to freezing then rise to burning. The outside of the inn is pretty like the surrounding area though for the day I was there it was raining and in the middle of the summer so no snow. The staff was helpful in that they tried to get us into our room early even though check in wasn't until 4:30. We ended up getting into our room around 3 so we had enough time to shower and get ready for the wedding that was down the street in the Chapel of the Snows which was an adorable little chapel. They do offer a free breakfast in the morning which consisted of cereal, muffins, bagels, yogurt, and/or fruit. Pretty basic but still good. This isn't a place where you'd stay if you were planning on staying in the rooms a lot. It's located near ski lifts and whatnot but I'm not a skier so I don't know much else about the rest of the resort. Since I'm not a skier or a snowboarder I've never been to other places like this so I have no subject of comparison aside from regular hotels. There isn't a whole lot in the area but there are a few restaurants and bars.
