Get ready for a bizarro juxtaposition if you visit this Skechers store after visiting the chaos that is Old Navy right next door. They are two completely different worlds. This store is orderly, employees knowledge you and it is easy to find a pair of comfortable shoes amongst the organized selection of footwear. Even though only one employee was at the cash register, it took no time at all to move through the line. Shopping should not be stressful and this visit was a breeze.

I used to work for Skechers in Las Vegas YEARS AGO. Everything at this store is the same. Except this store is much smaller! Especially the clearance section. I tried on some shoes. And that was it really. We were greeted, but no one checked up on me blah, oh well...

I did research on reddit and this came up as a recommended store. Awesome. I looked at their website which says they have several steps they do with you. First they evaluate what your need is and the health of your foot, then they put you on this foot scanner, then they analyze the data for recommendations of shoe, then you pick your shoes based on the software data, then you use their treadmill to see how those shoes work. It was a long drive to this place but we were willing to do it because they're doing all this work to figure out your shoe type for you and we're like great. We know nothing about shoes, we'll get some analysis and some advice on what would be best for us as we're going to be spending a lot of time standing, walking and maybe running in them. There was no evaluation of our need. We get on the scanning device which provides more measurements than I could possibly understand along with your shoe size, and the pressure points and good points on your foot. The goal being to try to reduce the red areas or dark purples. The sales person starts bringing me a few pairs of shoes. They're all way too small. Turns out the scanner has me at one and a half shoe sizes too small. So much for the scanner. Another batch of small shoes is brought out that don't fit. Why isn't the sales person getting out the tried and true shoe tree that you put your foot on and adjust the heel and the width to get the correct size already? The other issue I have is there was never any linkage (that I was informed about) between the scanner and all its data and my arch, and my pressure points and the shoes that were being brought to me. Was the sales person just bringing the one size recommendation from the scanner, and none of the other data meant anything? I don't know. Ultimately they didn't have anything in stock that fit me, but one pair I thought might be okay. They didn't have any treadmill to try it out on. They didn't give me analysis like you pronate or whatever. So I don't know what I do foot wise. So you know what I did? I went online and ordered multiple sizes in a crap shoot and hoped one would fit. I found a size that fit this way. I still know nothing about my feet and what I should have bought. Oh well. All this stuff on their website did nothing for me. Take it for what it's worth. That's why I rate it a three. It was no better than walking into a Payless shoes for me or blind shopping on Amazon as no one provided any insight into anything for me. If I find something that seems to feel good, well I guess the shoe is properly doing its job.

Yes, it has bothered me that much that I finally decided to write about it as maybe that will help me get the negative experience off of my heart. First of all, I was referred to Cadence by my podiatrist. He recommended a specific zero drop shoe and the gentleman who waited on me at Cadence was exceptionally helpful. I subsequently purchased many replacement shoes over the years at Cadence, each time assisted by one of the kind, professional, and personable male staff members. The last time I went in there, the only staff there was a blonde-haired woman who wore impressive, expensive jewelry. She was standing at the computer and barely glanced up as I entered the shop. I was happy to have a chance to work with a female there for the first time. I smiled, told her what I was looking for, and she looked ticked off and annoyed by my presence. Mind you, I'm not their typical running client. I am older and heavier, but love to exercise. She grudgingly produced a few pair of shoes for me to try on. None fit and she appeared particularly perturbed and put out by that. She glumly offered to order other options online and have them delivered to me, but at that point I was feeling so demeaned by her attitude toward me that I said that I would do it myself, and left. I got the impression she may be a co-owner of the store. But if that is her general demeanor, I suggest she leave customer interaction with her more inclusive, respectful, and hospitable staff.

I use a mix of road and trail shoes and I need "stability" shoes due to my amazing ankles. The young lady who helped me noticed that as soon as I took off my boots, so I figured she'd be helpful. I'm not terribly picky about colors or brands, though I've got some favorites and generally know what I need. I tried on a couple of pairs and purchased some new road shoes during this visit. Simple and fast! (At least one of those describes me.) Can I get shoes cheaper online? Sure. Would I get the same level of service and instant Q&A/ feedback with the opportunity to actually try them on? Not a chance. Should I support a local business? Is that even a question?!? Plus, they have a box where you can donate your old race medals and they get recycled to for a good cause: "Medals4Mettle (M4M) awards medals to kids and adults fighting debilitating diseases and illnesses to spread love, kindness and encouragement. I was given the standing imaging of my foot and told I have supination and a high arch. Ok... I pay about $500 for custom orthotics. I get the orthotics and try it out in multiple pairs of shoes. Felt heavy pronation. Additional pieces added to make the adjustment, which improved the feeling of exaggerated pronation. I was supposed to have a metatasal bar to compensate for the broken bones. I did not feel any difference between either of the orthotics (left / right). I mention this. None of the shoes fit well. Person tells me I'm picky, but sweet. Person seemed to be getting frustrated with my wanting to get what I pay for. I'm paying $500 for the orthotics, plus whatever else for a shoe, I should be comfortable and have a good fit in exchange. I left without any shoes, bought some larger and wider version of my current shoe. Removed the built in insoles, replaced with the new insoles. Trying it while doing some gardening chores and STILL FEEL LIKE I'M WALKING ON THE BROKEN BONE FRACTURE POINTS. My issue is not solved. Left voice mail re: problem with orthotics, no reply.
