I contacted Kenny and he was great at answering my questions and working with me, as I was organizing this from out of state. We rented the multi-purpose room and the adjacent kitchen. The staff was wonderful at helping us set up the table and chairs, as well as the break down of them after the party. They provided us with trash cans to use during the party and collected it at the end. They were polite and flexible as our party ran a little longer than we expected! I appreciated that the restrooms were right outside of the multi-purpose room, clean and stocked. The staff member, who helped the day of the party, was available to us and a good communicator. Thank you! Also, I had control of the thermostats which was awesome, as we all know how the temperature fluctuates in the Midwest. Some considerations: 1.) You are not allowed to put any decorations on the walls. This was fine by me and helped simplify decoration choices. 2.) The kitchen had a refrigerator and stove but no coffee pot or dishes. They have a sink which made it easy to just wash what we used before packing it away. There's a contract you sign and a deposit you put down. Basically: be respectful of the space and keep it clean. If you change your plans, let them know ahead of time and you'll get the deposit back. This community center was a great choice for us and affordable! The SRFC is OK, but not much more - and here is why. Let's skip the fact that the place is a bit…read morerundown and could use (a lot of) renovation, but as the price is acceptable I don't mind the mid 70's - almost nostalgic - ambiance. They have functioning racquetball courts - which is one of my main reasons for coming. The SRFC also has some very fine instructors that will do their very best for you. The one thing that gets me is SRFC's lack of organization and professionalism. Recently I've gone to do some classes that are on their schedule, only to find that there is no instructor or trainer to give them. I then noticed that they announce their schedules in three places: online, in flyers, and in weekly sheets. The problem is that these three sources do not agree. IN SHORT: I have recently gone 5 times or so, changed into my outfit etc, only to find that I just had wasted another 14 miles on my car and another hour of my time. I have brought this to management's attention, and I even asked the desk people specifically the day before if the schedule was correct. But all this was to no avail as nobody seems to know what exactly is going on and when ... So, before becoming an SRFC member, ask yourself why you'd would want to put up with such nonsense. These kids ENJOY it is what's best of all! Great exercise and fun doing it. My grandson I like to call "A fart in a skillet" because he is everywhere all at once!
