I absolutely love this place! Just had my daughter's birthday party here and everyone had so much fun! We had a private party as I am one that worries about safety for all attending kids in any setting. First it was the easiest booking I have ever done. Go on their online calendar, see available dates and times, choose and either pay a deposit or entire payment. It took exactly 5 min to book this party. Loved the convience. After that I recieved emails of the receipt, and further things to know and reminders. Obviously the owners know what good customer service looks like. On the day of the party we had two of the sweetest attendees working and making my daughters birthday fabulous! Place is clean, nice and cool which is a must in Bakersfield scorching heat and music was on point. They gove you choice and when we finally decided on Michael Jackson, thats when this party became epic . Everyone enjoyed themselves, kids were safe and we had no worries. My daughter had the best birthday party and we have Skateland to thank for that. read more

Came here on a Sunday for the first time. I was a little apprehensive at first the location seems a little/lot sketchy and the exterior was pretty ran down and upon walking in it was pretty outdated!! But right away a friendly employee helped check us in and the prices are very reasonable $8 entry and $2 skate rental!! The place is outdated but kept pretty clean! The rink itself was in very good condition and they have a few rink monitors that keep everything safe! The snack bar has quite a few items to choose from At very reasonable prices! So glad we came and will definitely be back again! Don't judge a book by its cover! read more

Love it. It's old school and nostalgic for me!! Reminds me of when I was a skating queen! The venue is a bit outdated but clean and the skate floor is maintained and in good shape. There is plenty of parking and security in the parking lot. Inside it's cool, AC works well. The music is chill. You can bring your own skates or rent for $4.00 on a special night. Rental options include in-line (rollerblade) or roller skates, what kids call quad skates now. There is a snack bar with a few snack options and soft drinks. The staff is friendly and welcoming. They really support the skating community here. Overall had a great time. Enjoy! read more

The Pizza gave me a stomachache. The ground is too slippery but I probably have a skill issue. I got my shoes stolen and told the staff they did close to nothing about it. You have to pay extra for roller blades. Do not recommend. read more

Went for a Birthday party. The building was older but it was clean. The employees were all super nice and very helpful. The bathroom was clean. The walls and tables were clean and the skating floors well-maintained. Everything we needed or the party was just a word away. I love, love that they had the crushed ice for the drinks. The woman making the announcements today was super nice and had a very pleasant voice, and she made it fun for the kids. I don't live in Bakersfield, but it was a nice drive to attend the party at Skateland. read more

I've been visiting Skateland for years it is a great skating rink for kids aid all ages.

It was really cool the staff was really nice and cool and I like the dude that's gets you the skates

A fun place to go with the kids. You can rent skates or bring your own. My kid refuses to wear skates that someone else sweated in so we bought our own so we'll be going at least once a week to get my money's worth out of our new skates. They do sell new skates but I didn't know and just bought ours from Big 5. The snack bar is nice too. There are lockers for .50 cents if you want to lock up your personal items. read more

Have been here a few times for free skate and birthday parties. My daughters wanted their birthday celebration at Skateland this year and it was a hit! Family owned and operated. Dutch and staff are fabulous. The remodel that was done is awesome. There's air conditioning, clean restrooms, well staffed, smooth skating surface, good selections at the snack bar, and just a good atmosphere. I hold my private skating parties there once a year and my guests and I have a great time. Thank you Skateland read more

Had a wonderful time at sakeland love when the vendor events were there hope they will be back soon. Also its a awesome place for family to have fun together read more

This place sure brings back memories! Elementary school skating parties; high school dates... And this place still retains that old school charm! It's been reopened by new owners in 2015, and you should really check out the "currently not recommended reviews," for the most up to date info! The older reviews reflect the previous owners, and do not truly tell the story of Skateland today. Entry fee of $5 gets you one pair of regular skates; inline skates are $2 more. There's a concession stand with typical junk food. They play all kinds of fun music, and they'll clear the floor for silly skating games that everybody loves! The place looks old, although they are updating paint, etc, and you'll find bathrooms and lockers nice and clean. Also watch out for Roller Derby events at this facility! Now THAT's old school fun! They are available for private parties several nights per week, so you can bring your LGBT group, or church or club out for a night of fun. I highly recommend it!! read more

There was very respectful helpers that helped with the younger skaters and enthusiastic about skating. The gentleman who helped exchange skates and the skate bar helpers, was friendly and his daughter and granddaughter were amazing with my kids, encouraging them they can do it and helped along the way. Thank you so much for helping my son enjoy his party. Also the hostess was very sweet as well. The whole skate crew was great. My kids now want to go skating every day/ night lol. It's a nice family friendly place read more

One of the last standing roller skating venues in Kern County. I highly suggest visiting this place for your next skate outing. Traditional roller skates, roller blades and walkers for the inexperienced. The staff and owner are very friendly and helpful. read more

They have a dumbass chashier that gives you whatever the hell she want she charge for extra shit and they don't give you the correct amount of thickets that your pay, then they act like they don't know and you ended up paying more than you paid at the beginning. read more

This is the only skate rink I go to; It really is the best. My family and I have thrown several parties over the years and our memories are full. I live in Los Angeles and when my friends and family get together, we meet up and skate. The last party we had was worth every moment to have the rink to ourselves. I highly encourage you to spend some quality time at this rink together. read more

I really enjoy the Sunday night adult skate sessions. They have great music and wonderful people.

Skateland never fails when it comes to birthday parties. Our host was on top of everything. We were able to select our own music playlist for the party and bring in our own food. I was also able to add on the drink package at the last minute without any problems and they made sure the drinks were always filled. I would definitely recommend them! read more

Very accomdating for our very large group! The kids had a wonderful time.

Great place for regular skate events, we also had my daughters birthday party here and rented out the whole building for a great price!

My daughter celebrated her 13th birthday at skateland and she really enjoyed herself. Great customer service! I rated it a 4 because the skating floor had so many babies ( literally) skating in the far lane which made it a challenge to skate. read more

I have to applaud the new ownership, or whoever was in charge of the remodeling of this place. I remember coming here as a kid, and it being a fun and inexpensive outing, and it's nice that they've managed to keep it that way. Thanks so much for keeping up the tradition of being a joyful experience without breaking the bank. For the longest time, the place had slowly deteriorated over time, not the owners fault so much, but it's just an old building. I've recently revisited for the first time in a long time, and was really impressed with the renovations and improvements. It looks freshly painted, nicely decorated. Nice and cool atmosphere, clean music, friendly staff, food and drinks are reasonably priced, admission is still reasonable (6$) The only thing I struggled with was the intercom or loud speaker, I couldn't understand a word of the announcements. I don't know if it's the way she was speaking, or a poor device, but I couldn't make out anything over that intercom. We had so much fun, just like I remember as a kid :) The kids love it! read more

Skateland - We had a blast! - Skating Rinks Near Me - Bakersfield, California

We went here for a private birthday party. It was a very nice atmosphere. The kept it plenty cool on a warm day. They have everything you'd want from a skating rink. Plenty of seats and tables, games for the kids, a snack bar, and great walkers for the kids. This was especially important for my daughter as she has only been once before and it was a long time ago. The only bad things were that the seats were made of carpet that was a little aged and the party area wasn't very wide. A little stuffed for a large party. I would take my kids back here for sure. read more

Always a fun place to go ... it's nice to see that some things don't change much. Great atmosphere for family fun!

We had a very nice time taking our team for team bonding. The owner and her team were super accommodating and showed us a great experience. You also cannot beat the low price for a party!!! Thanks again!!! read more

it was a good exp and I love the all to yourself for 2 hours deal. the only thing I wish is after paying $400 to rent it out that the snack bar would be open for us as well to purchase items. it would be a win win for them but they don't offer that. yes we chose the option to bring our own food but to purchase icees and goodies that we didn't bring would be a plus for us and them. even asking to buy a cup of ice and be told no is kind of wack. but over all the staff is nice and the place is nice. read more

Skateland is like a 2 and a half star-er. The food is like movie prices,HIGH! But the kids love it of course. The skates are old clunky and smelly. Same old skate groups/skate games-All Skate,Couples, Girl Race,Boy Race,Chicken Dance or Cha Cha song. Not too pricey to get in. Been here many times in the past and it hasn't changed much. The ceiling is almost non existent,it's pretty bad; the kids had fun but still, this place needs some help. read more

Skate Land isn't what it was 20 years ago. But I do have some very fond memories here from my childhood. And tonight for the first time in many years I got the chance to go back to my childhood stomping grounds. Don't come expecting to find some hip moden place. It won't happen. But if you want to skate, this is the place. There's nothing like the green carpeting on the wall; or the old ticket booth. However, all that may be part of Skate Land's charm. The music is decent and very new pop. I wish they played more classics though. And their skating format doesn't seem to have changed at all (I.e. couples only, all girls, all boys). If you go, rent skates, go old school and ditch the rollerblades. You'll be thrilled at the throw back to easier days. And by all means, take the kids. Show them what it feels like to have some real skates and real fun. No outside food or drinks are allowed in so bare that in mind when you pay the cheap entrance/skate rental fee. For a 20 oz soda and nachos I paid $4.50. A drink refill was .75. And you can go through a lot of drinks while skating. Overall, all these years later, still a great place to be and even better for creating those childhood memories for your kids. read more

Really love this place especially on the weekends and their days where they have specials. But overall place is quite a bit dusty and unkept in some areas also, the only music they really play is Bruno Mars which can get quite repetitive. But overall love the rink and most of the staff. read more
