I was as Silver Creek Park today when it was overrun with 30-50 off road vehicles. There were dirt bikes, quads, and SUVs non of which were even street legal. They were doing burn outs and wheelies in the street and donuts on the grass. Strange, many were wearing chest protectors, but few wore helmets that are even required when riding off road. That makes this a double crime as helmets were not even being worn on the street. I live by Stockdale High and have become used to the indifference of BPD of the 30 minute burnout sessions before the drag races even begin during weekend nights within a mile of the Buena Vista BPD substation. This current offence was mid-day about 2:00 PM Sunday when families and children in the line of fire of the off road enthusiasts symbolically raising their middle fingers at law enforcement and the locals who enjoy this location with their infant children. After BPD's the lack of reaction around the Stockdale High School intersection only a mile from their Buena Vista substation.... even if they spend their afternoons parked in the Stockdale High parking for there for breaks failing to enforce the many speeding and exhibition of speed infractions mid-day.... I am not surprised BPD failed to respond again to another flagrant mid-day infraction by 30+ off road vehicles in another close residential neighborhood. Then again, BPD does not respond unless there is not an eminent threat a violence and then only if they have multiple units to backup. If they will not respond to these obvious blatant local daytime violations by unarmed violators, how can we expect them to respond to the flagrant violations of vehicular negligence and public endangerment in our city streets and residential neighborhoods. Our infants cannot play at neighborhood parks because they are overrun by villains on off road vehicles with no concern for the safety of locals enjoying parks created for their enjoyment and safety much like a seen from B-C rated movies. BPD fails public safety again. It is better for them not to show up than to show the ineptitude of the the good ol' boys club in their failed efforts protect our Bakersfield citizens. read more
