I come in the morning and have found a tampon and used condom. There is plastic around the sewer grates that is torn. There is often trash by the sewer openings. There are times the poop bags have ran out for awhile not being refilled. Sometimes it floods and stinks like sewage and the dogs can get their paws black from it. When it floods bad during raining times they lock it up. Some people leave styrofoam coffee cups, poop from their dogs, and broken toys. I wished this park had a bathroom. Regulars are very nice. Benches on each side, shade from trees on one side is nice and dog/people drinking fountain. I am thankful to have it so large because I have big dogs that love to run and play.

We have come a few times and it was nice, no issues. However, today was different. There were several Husky dogs that were being rather aggressive to other dogs. The owners, one an obese, Hispanic male, was being a bully as well. There were several other Hispanic males who told me and my friend to take our dog elsewhere if we didn't like it. We left and so did another girl who observed the entire situation. No one cared that they were bullies and I am writing this to warn anyone who goes there to beware of them. Their dogs are mean and aggressive and the fat "brute" bully does nothing and won't control his dog. He gave me several death threat looks and if I would have been armed with pepper spray, I may have used it. We wanted no trouble and left quickly. I am really nervous to go back. It is a nice and beautiful park although, there are no bathrooms and also many people do not pick up their dog's poop. Pros-beautiful dog park, has nice benches to sit on and pretty grass. Con's-No bathrooms or shade, sometimes poop not picked up, mean bullies who are hateful with aggressive dogs. There was a girl there that the bully's dogs were trying to bite and pick on. The poor dog was crying but the girl did nothing. So odd that people won't fight for their own animals. I wanted to call the cops but saw no point. If you see people like this with a Husky, I urge you to report him. I am not sure to whom though. Enter at your own risk. Take pepper spray and be on guard. Never know when the mean, fat bully might return.

I will admit, at first I was on edge because I didn't know how my dog would react to other dogs and vice versa. But, I finally got over my own fear and introduced my pup to the crew and he did amazing! Turns out I was the problem all along. Oops! Rocky wasted no time making friends, especially his besties Zena and the husky. Now he acts like this is his daily social club. I'm loving it park is a great size with plenty of room for zoomies, plus they keep it stocked with doggy bags and a water fountain for the pups which feels bougie for a dog park, but I'm here for it! Usually regulars will tie extra poop bags to the fence and bring bottles of water. Because this park is a sump, garbage can sometimes wind up at the bottom of the park, but it's maintained weekly and is usually pretty clean for a dog park. The one thing this place NEEDS desperately is more signage about the rules. Last Sunday, July 11, 2021 we arrived around 8am and found a group of about 20 boys and 4 coaches having football practice. Usually I wouldn't mind this type of thing and welcome the socialization for the dogs, but the kids were not properly talked to about respecting the dog park. One of the boys opened the fence gate and let both of my dogs out, who of course then bolted out into the busy street. I feel that this could have been avoided if there were proper signs about closing the fence and being mindful of the dogs. Especially because this dog park is just the small fenced in area of a larger park, I feel like they could play anywhere and dogs really just have this one spot.

It was great to see it a buzz with a large family gathering bumping good tunes, individuals escaping the heat in a similar fashion to myself, and folks taking pictures. It's literally less than a 10min walk from my house. You walk through the neighborhood and there it is. This park literally has nothing but 1 bench and a whole lot of grass space and that's probably why they're always playing soccer here. My dogs like this park. My boys run up and down w them when it's not occupied by soccer players. One of my dogs (Kreacher) likes to mark his territory on every single tree and kick grass/dirt w his hind legs to let all the other dogs know this is his park haha. It's a nice park to walk your dog at and I really like that it's not filthy and for the most part... dog owners pick up after themselves which is always a plus. When you enter the park from our neighborhood you enter from Boswelia and if you walk all the way down onto the end of the park then you end up on S. Laurelglen. It's literally a cool shortcut. The bad side is that lately we have noticed homeless living inside of the blocked off canal and that makes me feel uneasy. There's tons of trash in the canal also now when there's literally a trash can not too far away. I hope the city can take care of the trash problem. They need to change the light bulbs or clean them. It hardly lights up the park. When you walk on the sidewalk it is almost pitch black. I love walking at night, but I honestly hate that the park is so dark. Also, I don't look to judge a book by it's cover but it's very hard not to with certain people. I have come a few times and I see the same "homeless" people at the same spot. I feel so uncomfortable going to certain parts of the park because they keep staring at you. Not sure if they just stare or really want to make you feel uncomfortable. I also see a lot of certain adults smoking and acting crazy at the benches. I try to avoid them as well. Others are digging threw the trash and some are just walking around looking crazy. I'm sorry if I seem harsh, but I'm just trying to be honest. My husband has told me that a lot of them come to do drugs. I don't know, but like I said they do look weird. Now, for the positive. I love that I saw a water/spray section. The water wasn't on, but I think that during the summer they turn them on. I wanted to let my son play there but there are two people always sitting near that section. Several covered areas with grills for hang outs and parties. There are plenty of pathways for riding, skating, walking or running. This place is an awesome quiet spot. When the weather cools down, you will find this park life start popping with the neighbors from the surrounding neighborhood. My family frequents this spot for working out or just getting out of the house. It is always a good time In the cooler months of spring and fall, the local neighborhood throws a monthly pop up shop for the small businesses at home. It is typically on the first Saturday of the month. If you are in the area, stop in and support local Small businesses.
