There's benches, poop bags (I'd recommend bringing your own bags just in case), shady trees, water stations, small hills, and lots of running space. I like that this park offers a playground for kiddos, but I do feel like the park etiquette can be lacking sometimes. Usually there's no issue bringing Goose to the dog park area, but there have been a couple times that we've had to pull him out earlier than planned because kids would come in to the dog park with bikes or scooters. For safety reasons of both kids and pets, I do wish that this wasn't so much of a worry. It is what it is though. Be kind, courteous, and don't forget to pick up after your pet :)

The only amenities for humans, three benches, a water fountain and doggie bags to pick up your dogs messes. Remember to do so. Let your dogs run and play. Usually regulars will tie extra poop bags to the fence and bring bottles of water. Because this park is a sump, garbage can sometimes wind up at the bottom of the park, but it's maintained weekly and is usually pretty clean for a dog park. The one thing this place NEEDS desperately is more signage about the rules. Last Sunday, July 11, 2021 we arrived around 8am and found a group of about 20 boys and 4 coaches having football practice. Usually I wouldn't mind this type of thing and welcome the socialization for the dogs, but the kids were not properly talked to about respecting the dog park. One of the boys opened the fence gate and let both of my dogs out, who of course then bolted out into the busy street. I feel that this could have been avoided if there were proper signs about closing the fence and being mindful of the dogs. Especially because this dog park is just the small fenced in area of a larger park, I feel like they could play anywhere and dogs really just have this one spot.

My best friend and I took a break from studying so that we can go for a walk here. Honestly, this park is so nice and I wouldn't mind laying out a blanket on the grass and reading under a tree. It was a refreshing place to relax our minds. I loved seeing the ducks and geese wading in the water. I come in the morning and have found a tampon and used condom. There is plastic around the sewer grates that is torn. There is often trash by the sewer openings. There are times the poop bags have ran out for awhile not being refilled. Sometimes it floods and stinks like sewage and the dogs can get their paws black from it. When it floods bad during raining times they lock it up. Some people leave styrofoam coffee cups, poop from their dogs, and broken toys. I wished this park had a bathroom. Regulars are very nice. Benches on each side, shade from trees on one side is nice and dog/people drinking fountain. I am thankful to have it so large because I have big dogs that love to run and play.

We have come a few times and it was nice, no issues. However, today was different. There were several Husky dogs that were being rather aggressive to other dogs. The owners, one an obese, Hispanic male, was being a bully as well. There were several other Hispanic males who told me and my friend to take our dog elsewhere if we didn't like it. We left and so did another girl who observed the entire situation. No one cared that they were bullies and I am writing this to warn anyone who goes there to beware of them. Their dogs are mean and aggressive and the fat "brute" bully does nothing and won't control his dog. He gave me several death threat looks and if I would have been armed with pepper spray, I may have used it. We wanted no trouble and left quickly. I am really nervous to go back. It is a nice and beautiful park although, there are no bathrooms and also many people do not pick up their dog's poop. Pros-beautiful dog park, has nice benches to sit on and pretty grass. Con's-No bathrooms or shade, sometimes poop not picked up, mean bullies who are hateful with aggressive dogs. There was a girl there that the bully's dogs were trying to bite and pick on. The poor dog was crying but the girl did nothing. So odd that people won't fight for their own animals. I wanted to call the cops but saw no point. If you see people like this with a Husky, I urge you to report him. I am not sure to whom though. Enter at your own risk. Take pepper spray and be on guard. Never know when the mean, fat bully might return.

I felt the "grass" and it was painful to the touch. Like a bunch of needles stabbing me. This is disappointing that the mostly dead grass is also razor sharp. Wish the city (or whoever is responsible) would be able to at least make the grass safe for dogs to walk on or children. If a child falls, their hands will be stabbed. Come on, Bakersfield! This park is very nice. It is usually very clean. It has two structures, one for smaller kids…read more(1-5) and one even older kids can enjoy (2.5-12). It had a swing set with 2 baby swings and 2 regular swings. It also has a small manual Marry-go-round type toy and two little spinning chair toys. There is also ample grass area to run around in. There is one covered eating area, but a few other benches and tables that aren't covered. It has many mature trees which provide some shade in the grassy area. The structures are somewhat covered, but In the summer time the slides still can get pretty hot. It is a very nice park and the structures are not too close to the street, which is great! We attend this park fairly regularly and enjoy the other families that come. My 3 year old can easily be entertained for 2 hours here at this park. The only reason for 4 stars is because there are no bathrooms at this park, so be prepared for that. There is an up & down side to having bathrooms at these smaller parks. In all the times we have attended this park, I have never seen homelessness being an issue here. We love this park and appreciate the city for keeping it clean.
