I went there for take out and unfortunately sizzling plate isn't an option unless you want to burn your car's interior with a sizzling cast iron, but instead got their signature plates (the black pepper beef and also ordered a teriyaki plate as an extra). Both were great! The quantity was plentiful and probably good to have some leftovers afterwards. The beef was savory and tender and the chicken teriyaki was as expected for teriyaki chicken. My husband and I visited Sizzling Dumpling House on back to back days during opening week because we enjoyed our first visit so much. My husband loves using restaurant apps for deals, so before going we noticed they were advertising 10% off your first order when you sign up through the app. Unfortunately, no one mentioned the promotion to us on either visit, so we never received the discount. It was a little disappointing, but I won't deduct any stars for that. They were a brand new restaurant, and we learned they were still figuring out how to use the app themselves. Opening a new restaurant comes with a learning curve, so it's completely understandable. On our first visit, I ordered the Teriyaki Beef & Rice, while my husband went with the Teriyaki Chicken & Beef. Everything was delicious. The beef was incredibly tender, the sauce was flavorful and juicy, and the rice was cooked perfectly. We left impressed. The very next day we came back. I ordered the Teriyaki Beef & Rice again because I enjoyed it that much. My husband decided to try something different and ordered the Bulgogi Beef and Rice. Once again, nobody mentioned the 10% off promotion. I stole a few bites of his bulgogi and... wow! The aroma, flavor, texture, and portion size were all fantastic. It was honestly excellent, although I still preferred my teriyaki beef! However, I did want to try the Miso Ramen Bowl, but instead of pork or chicken I asked if I could substitute beef. The manager politely said they don't allow kitchen modifications at their restaurant. We offered to pay the extra cost, but he stood by the policy and apologized, which made me a little sad, but I understand that restaurants have rules and consistency is extremely important, but sometimes a small accommodation can really leave a lasting impression on a new customer. Since the ramen wasn't an option, we ordered the 5 piece Steamed Soup Dumplings instead, AND they were awesome! On a later visit, I noticed the teriyaki beef recipe had changed when I had received my dish at the table. It now included onions and carrots. I wasn't a fan of the change. I personally do not like onions as it makes my stomach upset. When I mentioned it, the manager explained the recipe had only been updated that day. I asked him why the picture or menu wasn't updated. I explained how this is very important, especially for people with allergies. He was very understanding and apologized. He immediately offered to remake my meal without onions and carrots, and brought me a freshly cooked one. I really appreciated that level of customer service. He didn't get upset, nor did he roll his eyes or show any level up frustration. He listened and took responsibility. When he returned with the food, he was very kind and asked us to let him know if there's anything else he can help us with. Overall, I'll give Sizzling Dumpling House 4 out of 5 stars. The food has been consistently delicious, especially the teriyaki beef, bulgogi beef, and steamed soup dumplings. The food itself is EASILY 5 stars. My only real complaints are missing out on the advertised first time app discount, the inability to make even a simple ingredient substitution and the menu being changed without the photos or descriptions being updated. The manager kindly did mention those changes were only for that day to try something different. While these may seem like small issues, they could make an already great experience even better. I do think it's highly important to mention menu changes. If ingredients are added or recipes are modified without the menu reflecting those changes, it could be a concern for customers with food allergies or dietary restrictions. It's always helpful to know exactly what's in a dish before it arrives at the table. Side note for Diabetics or for those who are wanting to stay away from sugary drinks. The Sizzling Dumpling House doesn't have diet sodas or have much options for drinks. They do have "zero" sodas, but I understand some people cannot drink Zero products. This isn't a big deal for me, since I bring along my own drinks, since I can't have caffeine. Despite those concerns, we genuinely enjoyed our visits and will definitely be back... and maybe one day I'll get to try that beef miso ramen! The location is at The Plant, around the corner from Boiling Crab. I went on Thursday for lunch and the parking lot was crowded and busy, but nothing out of the ordinary. Ordering is easy and we were greeted by very friendly staff. I ended up ordering the black pepper steak salad, siu mai, and pork soup dumplings. They gave me a number to take to the table. Condiments, to go containers and a shelf to stack reusable plates and steamers were organized and readily available. The first dish that came out was the black pepper steak rice plate. It looked good, but not what I ordered or was craving. Turnaround was quick and returned with the black pepper steak, green salad, and macaroni salad. The steak was a little on the salty side but very tender. The salad was fresh and not overly sauced. The Mac salad didn't have much flavor but a nice little carb to pair with the protein since it was a little salty. We also ordered siu mai and pork soup dumplings. They weren't bad, but they looked like the frozen ones you'd pop in the microwave. The pork soup dumplings did have soup in them and came with black vinegar and ginger. The siu mai had a strong shiitake flavor which I'm about. The inside was clean and spacious. They don't serve ramen at this location anymore. I was actually a little disappointed because I had my mind set on a steaming hot bowl today. Only their other location in Santa Rosa has ramen. The black pepper steak was salty. IMHO Okay, I just had to go back to Sizzling House less than a week after my first visit. After reading other Yelp reviews, I knew I wanted to try the Sizzling Steak Plate and their mushroom sauce (and I'm not a mushroom fan.) Thankfully after raving about this restaurant to another foodie friend, she wanted to try it! So off we went! I ordered the Sizzling Steak Plate w/mushroom sauce ($18.99) and a side of spring rolls, ($3.99.) My friend ordered the Teriyaki Chicken/Beef combo plate ($13.99) with a side of Kaarage chicken, ($5.99.) The kaarage arrived first with two small cups of dipping mayonnaise. She gave the mayonnaise back since she doesn't like it. In my estimation that was a mistake because the kaarage needed to be dipped into something, and we both felt it needed salt. I liked the spring rolls which were nicely crunchy and hot. I will try a different side, next time! She loved her combo rice plate and devoured the whole thing! I adored the Sizzling Steak Plate, especially the red mushroom sauce! The sauce was everything! I received 3 thin steak slices which had a line of gristle through each one. I would've preferred slightly thicker slices of meat. Maybe next time, I'll try the Sizzling Wagyu! The carrots and broccoli were cooked al dente, which I really appreciated. I don't like soggy or mushy veggies. Whoever the chef is, bravo! Yes, no brainer, I'm coming back! Great bang-for-your buck here! Side note: Why is there always a huge gap where the bathroom stall door "meets" the door lock hinge? And while I was "sitting" I could look to my right through another gap and see the hand wash sink from my vantage point... This is a brand new restaurant that just opened up. The place is in a large shopping center that is slightly far for anyone not in South San Jose. There are plenty of parking and location is fairly spacious. It's not stuffed with tables or chairs so I do enjoy being there. The food is interesting. There are a lot of teriyaki flavored meat with rice so it has Japanese influence but it also has shrimp dumplings and other dimsum style food. I believe the owner is Chinese. The sizzling plate has only three choices however. I chose the wagyu sizzling plate with the black pepper sauce. There is also the mushroom sauce. I chose black pepper because that's the standard sauce for HK cafes. The meat is tender and they do give you a lot of rice. It also comes with corns and soy bean. It's really not bad. It's not phenomenal that I'd want to go back every week but it's decent and the price is not crazy. Service is very prompt and because it's a new restaurant fairly attentive. Came to this place because I wanted Hala guys and didn't realize it was replaced by Sizzling House. I like sizzling plate so decided to give this place a try. There is a good amount of seating and the fountain drink was right at the front for self serving. The line to order is very organized where you go to the left as you enter and you can either place your order with a server or use the kiosk. They have regular rice plate, ramen/udon, and sizzling plate. They also offer sides and appetizers as well. I ordered the Wagyu sizzling plate and a side of hot and sour soup. They offer two type of sauce, mushroom or pepper. I opted for the pepper since I didn't know if the mushroom sauce will be too sweet. The sizzling plate cannot be ordered to go which makes sense since it is still cooking when they bring it to you and the meat and rice needs to be mixed until it is cooked. After that, you can get a to go container near the entrance to pack ur food to go if you don't want to eat there. The wagyu rice was pretty good but it felt pretty pricey for the portion. The sizzling plate starts at around $18 before tax and tip and without a drink. My kids also liked the sizzling plate and actually wanted to go back and pay for it themselves. I might try the mushroom sauce next time just to compare the flavors. The hot and sour soup was ok. I prefer to get it at an actual Chinese restaurant. I had to put chili oil and sriracha for more flavor. The layout was pretty good and the food came out quickly. After you are done with ur food, there is a tray tower near the entrance/exit where you can place your finish tray. They have condiments near the tray tower if you need to add some more flavor to your dish. Service is fast and we had a good experience eating there. I would recommend this place if you like sizzling plates. We didn't try the dumplings but will have to next time just to see if it is worth the price. read more

Tried this new spot in San Jose and was pleasantly surprised! We ordered the Wagyu sizzling plate, and it was delicious. It came out piping hot and fresh, and the flavors were on point. The rice paired perfectly with the Wagyu and soaked up all the savory goodness. We also ordered the soup dumplings and shumai, and both were packed with flavor. They were so good I seriously could've eaten 10 more! The staff were very friendly, and it's a great fast-casual spot if you're looking for a quick but satisfying meal. Sizzling House is a newer Japanese style sizzling lunch type place but they also have dumplings and a small selection of dim sum like dishes. Place is new and clean. The service is pretty fast for most of the dishes but we had to wait a while for the shrimp dumplings. Overall, the food is excellent. The Wagyu sizzle rice was delicious. We asked for black pepper sauce and they kind of overdid it, but it still had good flavor. The gyoza was also very good. They were crispy and tasty. I ordered the sizzling steak platter to go. The steak remained surprisingly tender. The meat sat on a bed of yummy grilled onions with a delicious garlic butter. The sides included some peppered asparagus, broccoli, and carrots cooked perfectly, and I chose the mushroom sauce which was also very tasty. Easy to say I was satisfied with the meal. They have a soda machine for drinks - soda, water, lemonade. The interior is nice with clear pickup and ordering areas along with modern looking seating. The service was very friendly and helpful - they have buzzers for when the food is ready. I did see ordering kiosks as well. The food gets delivered to your table and you place your tray in the rack after you're done eating. We both ordered the Wagyu Sizzling Plate with Black Pepper Sauce ($20.99) and a Fountain Drink ($2.75). The dish was flavorful and the meat was tender. Even though we ordered the same thing, I did notice that my mom's hot plate was hotter than mine as hers continued to sizzle long after mine had cooled down. Her dish was also much saltier as her dish had a lot more Black Pepper Sauce. The restaurant is located right next to Poki Bowl. First, the listing for this nice restaurant does not exactly match the name above its door. The listing is "Sizzling House" but the sign and other literature read "Sizzling Dumpling House". Makes searching for it mildly confusing. Aside from that, I went to the soft opening today for lunch with my wife. I ordered pork gyoza, shrimp dumplings and three pork soup dumplings. Ordering was easy, considering the soft opening status. No glitches. The person at the counter was friendly and efficient. Our food came out in just a few minutes - perhaps even quickly - to our table in the bright and clean dining area. The decor is sort of a combo of modern Japanese, Korean and Chinese elements. The gyoza were very good. I liked the fresh taste and the nicely browned bottoms. I liked the soup dumplings - "XLBs" I suppose. They came with the classic sauce and have nice thin skins that I like. The shrimp dumplings (har gow) were good but not amazing. That said, the best one is going to find in this part of town. I like the thin skins these had vs. the doughy stuff one gets in many places. There is sriracha, soy, chili oil, katsu sauce and teriyaki sauce in bottles on the counter. The meals came with small sauce cups for our dishes as needed. My wife got the sizzling wagyu beef plate. This came out on a super hot platter surrounded by a cardboard skirt to help prevent burns and spattering. This was a very nice dish and a good value as far as quantity too. Disappointed that Halal guys closed at the Plant. Luckily the kids were feeling adventurous and willing to try the new sizzling dumpling house! The inside has been transformed into a beautiful and clean interior space with tons of seating options. Our family ordered the wagyu steak sizzling plate, tonkatsu ramen and dumplings. The dumplings were steamed to order and came out piping hot! A definite plus in my book. The XLB were juicy and yummy. The shrimp dumplings were basic but were prepared with a delicate wrapper! I personally wouldn't order them on our next visit. The sizzling rice had perfect black pepper sauce to rice ratio. I wonder if they had a double meat option to increase the protein. It was a bit too spicy for the kids, so we'll try the mushroom rice when we order it again. Tonaktusu ramen was standard, ramen noodles had a nice bounce to them, and the broth had a good flavor. Meat + rice plate and ramen are pretty good quality considering the area. Wagyu beef sizzling plate and tonkotsu ramen are both good. I disliked the flavor of the black pepper sauce for the Wagyu beef and will try either the mushroom sauce next time, or skip the sauce altogether. Beef rice plate comes out instantly, while the ramen takes about 5-10 minutes. The tonkotsu ramen is pretty good. Good noodles and pretty good meat quality. Overall, it was decent... but I wouldn't come back unless my friends really wanted to. Personally, I've had A LOT of sizzling plate-styled meals in my lifetime. From Sizzling Lunch to Pepper Lunch(RIP) to Tao's Fresh... there's many options in the Bay Area. The quality of meat here is REALLY GREAT! In fact, the Steak Plate I ordered was incredibly tender. However, the sauce here is really not my cup of tea. It's CRAZY oily and salty... so as the meal continued, the rice would soak up everything and it would just get too overwhelming. So many options and wanted to order everything but since the ramens were not available yet, we decided on black pepper steak salad and chicken steak teriyaki bowl. You can order at the kiosk or with an employee. Once ordered you're given a number plate so your order can be delivered to your table. Very Bright and spacious restaurant and got plenty of seating. This came with teriyaki chicken and beef as the protein with a hefty portion of rice as the starch, mac and cheese salad on the side, and 2 pieces of broccoli. Their sauce is very good and I loved that there was enough sauce to go around all of the protein that they provided. Flavor wise, the teriyaki sauce is slightly thick, sweet, salty, and umami. The balance of sweet and salty was good for me. Mac and cheese salad was also really good and I wish we could have had more of it. The macaroni isn't drowning in the sauce, but it's really really creamy and rich, which I like. The flavor is sweet, salty, and cheesy. From the picture, I thought that we would get more of this, but it's more like just a side dish versus being one of the starch/carb portions provided. They do provide a lot of rice though and I wished they could switch it to being a more balanced ratio of rice and mac and cheese salad. They could also give us this option to choose. Something about their rice is just very good in terms of the texture. It was like that Japanese short grain rice that's slightly more glutinous than regular rice. Now, for the broccoli, I really wished they gave me more than 2 pieces. I like that vegetable component, so it was really sad to just see two of them. Shrimp Dumpling: 4.0/5 Second favorite item on the list was a side that we got. This comes with three pieces. The protein is only shrimp. Overall, the flavor of this item was quite good. I don't think I needed soy sauce or any kind of dipping sauce for this one. They do come with a sweet and chili sauce on the side and it does contribute well to it if anything. The texture is chewy and the shrimp inside has that nice crisp to it, as well. The sauce is nice in giving this item that extra flavor component. Pork Shrimp Shumai: 3.0/5 This was one of their dim sum side options. One service provides 3 pieces total. Comes out inside of a steamer basket. This was definitely the least favorite of the three items that I ate. There was something about the overall taste of this one. It's similar to that flavor of an item coming out of a rubber or large plastic bag that you see in the freezer section of the grocery store. It's that rubbery silicon taste that I don't know where it comes from. It just wasn't the most pleasant taste. The texture of the meat itself was also quite rubbery. This can be the shrimp, but overall, the texture and flavor were not my favorite. --------- Quality: Made to order Everything came out quite hot and appeared completed to order. Each item seemed to be made to order. There may be some discrepancies in terms of internal temperature for the dumplings. My pork shrimp shumai was piping hot while my shrimp dumpling wasn't as hot. My friend gave me the opposite review where his pork shrimp dumpling was just hot while his shrimp dumpling was piping hot. I actually cant explain why this is the case if they're all steaming inside of the same steamer basket. Were these from the freezer and one just thawed quicker than the other? All items were still optimal temperatures regardless though. Price: Optimal Their portion sizes are optimal for their pricing. We were provided one of the boxes that are sectioned off. Appeared to be 2 portions of rice, lots of protein, and then some pieces of veggies. Pricing is around $13 to $16 for a portion, which seems fair. For the sides, the pricing is around $4 to $7 for each serving. Again, seems appropriate for what we get. Service: Simple and sweet We had very simple interactions with them today. This place is new, so they don't have much of a crowd yet. Ordering is done on a kiosk that is right next to the register. We were able to clarify some questions as they are having their opening deals. Ambiance: Very Spacious and Bright This place is quite large. The interior is very spacious, which it really didn't look like this before if this is really the old Door Dash Kitchen location. Perhaps they broke down some walls and extended it here and there. Very nice natural lighting and bright on the inside. Optimal amount of tables. Location/Parking: The Plant Looks to be the previous Door Dash Kitchen location, but no one quote me on that. It's located inside of the Plant and near Boiling Crab and Tapioca Express. The parking is alright. Not usually a problem because this plaza is so spacious. Man, this place is seriously underrated. The orange chicken was straight-up fire--super crispy, loud crunch with every bite, juicy inside, and the sauce was perfect. It was so good I kept making noises out loud like a total weirdo while eating it. The rice was cooked just right (fluffy, not sticky or dry), and the mac salad was creamy but not heavy or overly rich. Everything balanced perfectly. The whole spot was immaculately clean too, which I really noticed. It wasn't busy when I went, but they deserve way more customers because nothing was off. The food is really good and place is well maintained. Sad they took the ramen off the menu before we could try it.

Tried the new location on Curtner for its grand opening. It has an open area- wasn't crowded at all which was pleasant. Decoration of the restaurant is nice as well. Food was pretty good. Got the wagyu sizzling plate, steak sizzling plate, pork shu mai, and shrimp dumpling for ~$56. I will say that the black pepper sauce that came with the steak sizzling plate was a bit overpowering that I don't think it would want to get again. read more

I cannot wait to come back and try more options! We for the xlb, waygu sizzling plate, orange chicken, potstickers, and the sweet and sour soup. The xlb was steamed perfectly where you could pick up the dumpling without it ripping and you lose soup. The orange chicken was so tasty! They fried it perfectly! Every bite was crispy! The sizzling plate flavor was so good! Food overall was a hit for me. The service interaction is very minimal but the hostess was friendly and recommended the orange chicken. The restaurant itself was so pretty! Very open and spacious and well designed. Looking forward to coming back and try the other dishes. read more

The teriyaki and beef plate was pretty good. The portion is pretty big. The broccoli was cooked well so I would prefer there to be more broccoli. read more

Sizzling house was great! It was our first time here and we'll definitely be backed. We got the soup dumplings, wagyu sizzling plate, and the katsu chicken plate. All three were good and they have a variety of different sauces for each dish. The cashier was really nice and service was fast. Also, the restaurant is beautiful. read more

I've been here twice now and the food here is fantastic! The orange chicken is delish and comes with orange slices too. The gyoza and the dumplings are great and come in the cutest containers. There's lots of comfy seating and it's a really pretty interior. 10/10 food spot read more
