Got the house ramen medium, both enjoyed the portion, not too big, not too small. Ambiance was very simple and neat table seating. Service was very quick, you can choose between pay through QR code or look at the physical menus. Perfect for friends and dates alike as well as a work dinner. Parking is nice at the parksj 90minutes FREE!!!
Went here after coming back from a flight. We arrived around 10pm and it was packed, but we were seated immediately. The owner was so sweet, I wish I got his name. He kept the room lively in a subtle matter with the gong, not too loud. Inside was nice too, well lit and clean. Service: 10/10, no complaints, where one server lacked another picked up the back end. They all helped each other out to keep a good flow Shishito peppers: 10/10, good flavor and cook, not too spicy, great enjoyable appetizer! Spicy butter corn miso ramen: 10/10, loved that they didn't overdue the butter, very tasty. The wheat noodles have the perfect chew. The broth was nice and rich and the corn, bamboo shots and ramen egg blended everything well. Will definitely be coming back next time I'm in the area! ^_^ My compliments to the chef and the whole team, excellent experience.
I came here on a Saturday evening and thought the ambiance was nice, but the restaurant itself is pretty small. This being my first time, I was told I could either scan a QR code to order or have a server take my order. I want to say we waited about 15 minutes, and despite there being 4 to 5 employees working, not one checked on us. And they were looking at us. The whole time, we had to get up multiple times just to get someone's attention. That was ridiculous. I ordered the house ramen. The broth was tasty, but everything else was pretty mediocre and lacked lots of flavor. But overall, the service and food didn't live up to the price. I was actually really disappointed. There are so many great ramen spots nearby, I'd rather spend my money elsewhere.
Really quick service. This is currently my favorite Ramen in San Jose because I love the bento boxes. They have QR codes, or you can get a physical menu. They also have a pretty expansive drink menu if you want tea, soda, wine, beer, or a cocktail. I also love how they're open super late. They should be open till like midnight or so. They have good customer service, and everyone is pretty polite. That helps you. It's a very good experience. I love that the bento boxes come with three options of mini Ramen, shishito peppers, a spinach salad, and two mini fried spring rolls. They have really good appetizer options. I love the Matcha salt to sprinkle on my edamame and spinach salad in my bento box or to use on my chicken breast on top of the Ramen. I really appreciate the small sides of veggies/vegetarian options you can add to your ramen, since I don't eat pork.

I like this location because it's in a walkable area near SJSU. I tried Hinodeya's other locations in Campbell and SF. The ambiance is very nice for a date night or after work meet up with friends for drinks. Service is meh. They give you the option of a physical menu or the QR code. While I don't mind the self ordering system, service was very lacking. It was hard getting a server to stop just to get extra napkins, utensils, or to-go boxes. The food was good but overall I don't feel this location is as good as the others and I can't justify how the prices for such minimal service and small portions.
I'm so disappointed by everything. This is the second time I've ever been to this restaurant and my partner was SO HUNGRY. So I thought, what would fill your tummy better than a nice bowl of ramen. My partner ordered the Ramen Tonkatsu with the Spice Level: 3 The ramen was LACKING. We even ordered an extra egg and all 3 eggs came out practically hard boiled. This has to be one of the lowest qualities of ramens I've ever had. I ordered sweet chicken on the side, was a little better than the ramen, but a lot of the chicken wasn't even covered in the sweet sauce that a majority of the chicken was doused in. We also got a little Ume soda can, (this was probably the best part of the whole experience here). Very lack luster, very disappointing, and unfortunate for spending around $60.

Greeted and seated promptly. Since we know we can't go wrong with anything at any Hinodeya, I opted to venture from my usual house ramen and try the Summer Snow Cold Ramen with Agedashi Tofu (versus chicken,) since I like Cold Soba on a warm day. It was delicious and exactly what one might expect. Flavorful like ramen, just cold. The ramen was still a nice texture and the broth not oily (heavy) like I thought might happen being cold. It was a nice change that you won't find at too many restaurants. read more

Good, standard ramen place. Nothing too special, but does a great job when you're craving ramen. The Hinodeya Ramen was pretty good, with a generous amount of toppings. The meat was tender, and the noodles chewy. The broth didn't really have that depth of flavour that you expect from a great ramen place though. However, it was still seasoned nicely. The sukiyaki beef ramen tasted exactly how you would expect. It was good, but sukiyaki beef to me still pairs much better with rice than with noodles. read more

What we ordered: Clam ramen: 5/5, I added an egg, cooked perfectly. Broth is flavorful too. Decent amount with lots of clams. House ramen: 5/5, my niece loves it. She's usually a picky foodie like me. Karaage chicken: 5/5, very crispy. Save room for dessert, and order the matcha ice cream parfait. Hits the spot! First off, let me be clear the food here is SOLID. The staff is super friendly and the location is well lit and nicely appointed. I just can't give it the 5 star treatment as I think it's really quite expensive for the portions offered. I ordered the Pork Katsu Bento at an astounding $29. The katsu coating was crisp and the pork cutlet was juicy. It comes with a small ramen, rice, fried spring roll, and edamame beans. But the potion is comically small. The Katsu was roughly 4-5 ounces with a cup of ramen and half a cup of rice. I did like you can choose what type of ramen you want (Hinodeya, Spicy Miso, and creamy). This place is also all about crazy spicy and they have levels from regular to something like, "god of fury" or something. I went with a single level of spice after reading their numerous warnings regarding their spicing practices. If I was to return, I think I'd have a ramen (my wife said her's was excellent) and add some karage for a little more Protein. So, if you're loaded and not starving this is the place. I mean, you can also cruise to the TB next door for a Cheesy beef burrito if the hunger pangs are still hitting. read more

Love that this spot has multiple vegan options! We chose the creamy ramen and zen ramen and both were so flavorful! Both had the shiitake mushroom dashi broth but the creamy one had soymilk while the other had more of a soy flavor. I had the sukiyaki beef ramen and it was loaded with toppings! The soup wasn't as sukiyaki-like as I thought but perhaps it's just be in the flavor of the beef. For all of our ramens, we substituted the noodles for the spinach noodles and we were impressed with the texture! It was the highlight of each dish. We came on a Sunday evening and it luckily wasn't too busy but service wasn't super attentive. Would come back again to try the other food options though. read more
First time trying this place. The interior of the restaurant was very well decorated and nice looking and well kept. The host greeted me as soon as I walked into the restaurant. Once she sat me down the table setting was very nicely done IMO. I ordered the Spicy Tonkostu Ramen. The presentation of the soup was on point and very delicious. However the prices of the Ramen was on the high side. I only ordered the soup and requested water and out the door I paid $36 dollars. Despite all the positives above It was not a desirable place due to cost of goods and services. There are other options out there that can compete with ambiance and flavor so I only recommend if money is not an option for you this can be your ramen place but not mine. read more

The service is always fast and friendly, and it works well whether you're coming with a group or just one other person. I've had the chicken karaage, which is great for sharing, as well as the creamy ramen and Hinodeya House (both solid choices). 2025 has been a year of trying different ramen spots. I have a few that I've really enjoyed and this location has to be one of them! I've been to the Newark location and had a great experience. I had high hopes for their downtown San Jose location and they did not disappoint! After checking out the SJ made winter market, my girlfriends and I came here for a late lunch (around 2 pm) and this place was poppin'! I love how easy and convenient it is to order here- just scan the QR code at your table and easily place your order/ pay from your phone. It makes it very easy to pay when you come with friends and really streamlines the whole dining process! The service here was super fast, very friendly, and efficient! The ingredients were very fresh and you can taste the quality of both the broth and premium toppings that Hinodeya uses. Not to mention, the ramen actually comes out hot when it comes to the table. If you love spice, this location is the place for you! They offer broth that ranges from Koko-kara (level 1, mild) - Enma (level 10, choose at your own risk). I usually only get mild but am interested to try level 2 or 3 next time! The following is what I tried: -Chicken Kaarage 5/5 : I've tried so many Chicken Karaage dishes in my lifetime and this one is solid! The chicken is crispy, crackle-y, moist, and tender on the inside. I love that it's served with a plump, charred shishito pepper, lemon wedge, and my favorite matcha salt c: The overall dish is bright, not greasy, and balanced from the various toppings! -Shrimp Tempura 3/5 : I love shrimp but there wasn't anything special about this appetizer. I feel like the tempura coating could've been lighter and the dipping sauce (soy or teriyaki?) was on the saltier side. I think a ponzu or sweeter/ lighter sauce ( similar to tentsuyu- traditional dipping sauce) would be much better. Glad I tried this dish once but won't be ordering it again. -Tonkatsu Ramen 5/5 : This dish is a newer item on Hinodeya's menu and all I can say is WOW! This ramen was delicious! Served in a Hokkaido- style miso broth, the flavors of this dish were very rich and buttery but not heavy. The wheat noodles were perfectly chewy and the crispy/juicy Tonkotsu cutlet on top was just *chef's kiss*. I also enjoyed the perfectly cooked, jammy ramen egg on the side and the addition of fresh spinach, green onions, bamboo, and corn to add texture and balance the richness from both the meat and broth. Don't be intimidated by the small pat of butter that they provide on the top! It truly made the broth creamy and velvety. We can always work those extra calories off at the gym ;) I will definitely be coming back to this location next time! read more

I love trying new ramen spots, and this restaurant has been on my list for the longest time. Considering I work so close to this location, I'm upset at myself for not trying it sooner. I ordered the spicy miso butter corn ramen and as someone who LOVES anything with corn in it, this was one of the most unique and delicious bowl of ramen I've ever hard. It's the perfect amount of spice, and the broth is so flavorful without feeling too heavy or greasy. I ordered to go so I did not get to experience the service there however my order was ready exactly at the estimated time on the website. And the food was perfectly warm by the time I got back to my desk to eat it. Parking isn't too bad there is a garage right next door with free parking for the first 90 minutes. Definitely coming back here the next time I'm craving soup! read more
I ordered the House Ramen. It was a bit salty but I enjoyed it. Wish it had more meat though! It came out within 10 minutes. I've had better ramen but this will do. I've been to the Campbell location before, and didn't realize they had a location in San Jose! Came here for lunch with a friend. There is plenty of metered street parking around and it's right next to a parking garage. It's a cozy and spacious space. Not to cramped that you can hear everybody's conversations. There are bar seating available. I chose the QR code ordering option. They have the physical menu and ordering with a staff available. Staff was courteous and polite. I ordered the clam ramen with regular spice. It's definitely not a usual order, but I've never seen this option available anywhere else so I had to try. They have a disclaimer in the menu that there may be some small shell remnants and some sand, and they were right. I've had clams plenty of times before so that wasn't a surprise nor a problem for me. It was so good! There wasn't any kind of seafood-y or fishy smell or taste. The broth was clean, very flavorful. I ordered spicy garlic crunch on the side and that made the bowl perfect. I didn't need to add anything else extra to flavor the broth. The noodles had a nice bounce and chew to them. I didn't feel heavy or bloated after finishing the whole bowl! That's another factor I look for whenever I eat ramen. Other places would make me feel so bloated after eating and sometimes nauseous, too. This location is definitely more memorable than Campbell, I like it better. Bottom line: very much worth the try! 3.5 I ordered the Spicy Miso butter corn ramen from here during this cold for California week. The food was made and brought to me relatively quickly and the packing was all separate so the toppings stayed intact. I probably should have asked for some chili oil/crisp because it wasn't spicy in my opinion but the broth flavor was good and the noodles were nice and chewy. The chicken was not as dry as some places in the ramen which was appreciated. read more
Have to say, just coming back from vacationing in Japan, the ramen prices here in the Bay Area scares me Still, Hinodeya presents their ramens genuinely and without compromise. I am a meat lover but decided to try their veggie, soy-based ramen and tbh I was really surprised how balanced each of the flavors were and the broth was thick and not heavy with full flavors! The kale was deep-fried until extra crispy and the tofu skin and mushrooms went smoothly with the experience. My party ordered the house ramen (salt-based) and also loved it and finished the entire bowl. The noodles had great texture and chashu slices were thick yet tender. The ramen portions are smaller than most...but I guess you have the option of ordering more noodles. the place has a nice warm ambiance and good service you can expect from a good ramen spot. read more
If you like ramen and are in the downtown San Jose area, this is a great option. A small restaurant that's big on flavor. The waitstaff are awesome and efficient with service. Upon seating, check out the menu from the table QR code. We had a party of 9 and the food was ready at the table within 20 minutes. I ordered a chicken ramen bowl, really good. We also ordered all the appetizers on the menu. My favorites were the Brussels sprouts and shishito peppers. It was crowded but not packed. Laid back easy going with moderate noise level. Sometimes I'm not the biggest fan of ramen because of how heavy and oily the broth can be but Hinodeya does it differently. The broth is light and flavorful. By far one of my favorite places to get ramen. Right around the corner from San Pedro square. There is street parking and a parking structure nearby. This location has you order off a QR code but I believe they also offer paper menus. -spicy butter miso ramen: 4/5, The mild spice has just the right amount of kick. My boyfriend said that the broth wasn't too oily. The pork slices were super tender and not fatty. The noodles here are a little thicker so there's a nice chewy texture. -hamaguri clam ramen: 5/5, My go to dish at Hinodeya. Clams and ramen work together I swear. The clams are cooked perfectly and they give you a TON. Pair the clams with a light broth and it's just perfection. This dish doesn't have too many garnishes but I think the simplicity is what makes it great. read more

Late night eats after a concert in San Jose left us coming to Hinodeya with the fam. The wait wasn't too bad for a party of 6 on a Saturday night. Service was quick and lighting inside was moody. We got some drinks and some ramen to end our night out. I ordered the combo with grilled unagi over rice and a mini creamy ramen. The broth was delicious! It's soy milk based and lived up to its name. Others got the house ramen or the other box combos that has beef over rice and a mini ramen. If I came back I would get the same order of the creamy ramen. The unagi was also a good sized portion I was full after eating half and took the other half home to enjoy later. read more

This was pretty good. I got the spicy miso ramen and it came with 2 big slices of meat. The bamboo shoots were alright, they didn't really add much. The noodle was pretty good. The broth is rich and that's all to it. It's a decent ramen. Finding parking is tough though. read more
Pro-tip: Be prepared to wait because the food takes forever to come out. You can order via QR code from your own table. Highlights: I thought the ramen was pretty good in broth flavoring, the variety of add-ins, and the noodle type and texture were enjoyable. The chicken kaarage comes with matcha powder which is unique. Lowlights: I have never waited so long for ramen in my life. It took well over 45 minutes for the ramen to come out. I read reviews that the chicken kaarage was really juicy and delicious , but our order had really small and overly fried pieces - I would definitely not order it again. read more
Ramen that's open till 3am?!?!? I was pleasantly surprise by how clean and fast the service was here! The ramens were all pretty solid, much needed after a night of drinking. I would definitely come back here! Highly recommend especially after the bars let out. Forget those $12 hotdogs (yeah so overpriced now). Get yourself a hot bowl of ramen!
