From our food to our service everything was exceptional! We really loved our service from Leo and will be requesting him as our waiter in the future. He really knows his stuff. A+ rating from us! read more

I give this place a 5 star for what it is. I don't know how people can say the food is bad when I have pretty good taste, and it is the best buffet I've ever been to!! The hostess/cashier was very friendly and talked with us and showed us around the salad bar, which looked great so that's what we got. My friend got a steak along with it and she was extremely happy about it. They delivered the cheese toast and sweet roll and...it was so delicious! I have never had such delicious bread in my life, and I'm not a bread whore usually. Everything was so good on the salad bar...very quality stuff! I compared it to hometown, and it blows that place away! The salad fixinz were fresh, the soup was good and hot, the mac and cheese was pretty good, I can't complain! I was especially impressed with the taco section, as I am ALWAYS disappointed in buffets with a mexican section. They have a great tasting chicken fajita mix, pulled...I think it was pork? maybe chicken, so tender. I scopped up some guac, thinking it'll be like all the others, and it tasted like i make it at home! I'm dreaming of the day i go back next week! I never thought it was this good, so I never went until my birthday, 6 years after living here. My bad! My friend, who usually hates the idea of even GOING to a buffet was excited for once, and she hates them all. That should tell you something. Some people just have no taste...i mean no offense, but some people think good food is crappy for some reason, and that crappy food is good. I don't get it. Don't listen to the bad reviews on here. They either have no taste, or they probably don't want to eat good food in fear of getting fat and they want to hate on it. It has to be one or the other. No wonder things/places go downhill...it's THOSE people that they listen to. Well this place does NOT need to change, imo. Lastly, if i was to give the place good suggestions, I would say for one, there needs to be better signs on the food. Sometimes I was guessing as to what I was eating, but I didn't care since it was so good. I'd still like to know though. Secondly, I think the desserts could be improved. However, the banana pudding was the best quality I've ever had on a buffet. I think it's fake and chemically at other places. The rest was...eh...I'd have rather eaten another sweet roll at the table. And finally, my soda tasted a little watered down and they are not cheap for soda. So, the price should be lowered definitely. I'm glad i chose not to go to golden corral, but I guess I should give that an honest chance as well, but not anytime soon, ha. read more

We saw this place being remodeled after it had been closed down for quite a while and were lured in by the banners saying they were open as well as the smell of meat being bbq'd in the front - it was smelling good! After we parked on the side and made our way in, the staff was greeting us right away and thanking us for coming on what I guess is the grand opening. Once in, we could see the remodeling was a nice job. Instead of rather sterile old look it had before, there was a more vibrant atmosphere with a decor of various menu offerings and outdoor pictures such as fishing, nice flat screen TVs, a colorfully lit ceiling, rotating signs that pointed out wine & beer stations and the salad bar is now located in the corner, brightly lit and pretty. Service was excellent with Tim and the rest of the servers making sure we were well cared for and didn't lack for a thing. I've said this in a few reviews and will say it again: good service and a customer feel valued and appreciated goes a very long way and today, they certainly had it right! The food itself was very good: my wife had a tri tip steak sandwich which was every bit as tasty and fresh as the smell of the BBQ outside had promised. My own mega bacon cheeseburger was juicy and quite flavorful and my niece said her Philly cheesesteak was the bomb! The rest of the menu was pretty similar to what it was before, but if our food was representative of the rest of it, then they've no doubt livened up the flavor and freshness and made it an excellent choice to revisit again soon. read more

The restaurant was clean and the salad bar was well stocked. It just wasn't stocked with very good food. Service was a 2 and food was a 2. This place is cheap and all you can eat which are its only talking points that I could find. The salad bar contained a few sections. A salad section, taco bar, comfort food and dessert. I went for the actual salad portion and was a bit disappointed. It was only $12.45 for the dinner time unlimited. Unfortunately I went for the actual salad portion of the salad bar and the veggie selection was pretty limited. Lettuce, tomato, cucumber, olives, shredded carrot, pickled beets and that about it. Their Ranch dressing was decent. The taco bar portion was a sad version of taco bell and the nacho cheese had that layer of skin created by heat lamps and sitting idle too long. Not very appetizing. Once I broke through the skin crust the cheese was really thick slightly transparent. The comfort food section contained some chicken wings fried hard and dry throughout. Potato wedges were dry as well. Mac and cheese was a small step above Kraft but not quote as good as Stouffers frozen. I didn't try the desserts but there was soft serve, an apple cobbler dish, bread pudding and a banana cream dish. Service was average to poor. I don't expect great service at an establishment like this but we never had out drinks refilled. My date got up and asked management and we got a refill as he was finishing off his ice cream. read more

I've had lunch here about 6 times, by myself. I have only gotten their salad/soup bar. I LOVE. LOVE, LOVE their salad and soup bar! Tons of choices. Very clean restaurant, great staff. Will go out of my way to enjoy their salad bar, anyday. read more

Dining was a disappointing experience. The place is clean and attractive and the way the menu is presented is different but unique. But why in the world a chef would kill the taste of a good piece of meat by making it too salty is beyond me. The seasoning was so strong and salty the steak lost its flavor. Not good for a senior menu. High blood pressure you know. The fish and chips should be taken off the menu. Dry and dull. Service was average. Asked for water twice, never got it . Oh well, i got fooled by all the 4 and 5 stars i saw posted. The Sizzler of many years ago was much much better. read more

Growing up, Sizzler was the restaurant that my family always went to for special occasions. It was THE high end, fancy restaurant that my parents always chose and it was always an event with great food. I went here the other day and now I realize that my parents were messing with us. I guess that it is a good restaurant to trick kids into thinking they are eating at a fine restaurant. It was ok but not amazing. The food isn't nearly as good as I remember. The trauma of growing up. read more

Sizzler is that horrible place cheap motel carpet and where the Blue Haired peeps go at 4:30 for "Supper" and it smells funny inside right?? Not anymore!! Sizzler had changed and it's definitely for the better! With the face lift inside comes better food and substantially better service. The odd/awkward pay first system is still in effect but the rest of the experience had been much improved. The menu has some new stuff and everything I've tried in the couple visits since the relaunch has been good. the Salad Bar as a meal is still a great deal and had a large variety of fresh things to make a great salad and so much more. Pastas, chicken wings.. potatoes and meatballs as well as a taco bar that is pretty darn good.. (I made nachos!). They still have the wonderful cheese toast which if you ask they'll keep bringing. Bread pudding, cobbler and an ice cream machine round out the dessert selections and sometimes they even have a surprise or two in store for you.. Comfy booths, great service and pretty darn good food await you at Sizzler. Give it a try. You will be pleasantly surprised! Look in your mailbox.. there's a coupon! read more

I f*cked up, or to be politically correct, I fornicated from above by coming here for lunch. Yes I went to a Sizzlers. But you know what, that salad bar alone was worth the $9.99 + tap and tip that I spent today. They had several lunch specials to choose from, of which I ordered a 6 oz steak, medium rare with a baked potato on the side plus full access to the salad bar ! The salad bar was fine, the steak however... The steak was tough, chewy and overcooked, as to expected I suppose. The steak that I had at Hustler Club was way better. Maybe it was because I had half naked women next to me that were trying to get me to buy lap dances from them. Its a possibility. One of my coworkers orders his steaks well done, not because thats the way that he enjoys his steak, which is akin to chewing on the sole of a rubber boot but because he values his health over taste. I asked why he didnt just order something else and his reply was that he felt pressured at the counter because there were other customers behind him. Keep in mind, you have to order BEFORE you sit down at your table. Like a fast food joint. Exactly like a fast food joint. The salad bar has all the usual suspects but also includes items that I never imagined would be part of a salad bar. We are talking about deep fried chicken wings, build your own tacos with either soft or hard shells, 3 different types of soups, spaghetti, onion rings, and a few others that escapes my memory. Does eating deep fried chicken wings or onion rings make me feel better because its considered part of a salad bar ? Absolutely not. Cheap prices, mediocre food and low quality steaks. Would I go back ? Well, considering that options in the immediate area consists of McDonalds, Jack In The Box, Teri Cafe, Wendys, and a taco shop that I Do Not approve of which shall remain nameless, I would have to say that its a definite maybe. read more

We walked into the restaurant and me and my wife were talking about the salad bar price. And the person named Jade butted in and yelled out loud a unprofessional remark to us which we did not like. She was very sarcastic and rude even when we ordered our food. We have been going to this location since the remodel. But the last few times we went has been different and uninviting. We do not feel like going there ever again with especially the remarks from certain staff members. Ed read more

Went in for lunch because my daughter was awarded a free kid's meal from school. Went in for lunch with my wife and two daughters (11 & 8). All four of us got salad bar and a drink. Salad was fresh with a good number of varied toppings. The hot food was average at best. The worst part was the price! No lunch prices so salad bar was same as dinner and severely overpriced ($12.49). Soft drinks are also significantly more expensive than competitors at $2.79. In the end since kids cutoff is under 10, I bought 3 adult salad bars and 4 drinks and total was about $45.00. For $24.99 (2 adults and 2 kids with drinks) with a coupon they will give you at restaurant Souplantation is a FAR better choice about a mile and a half down the road for salad. Not likely to go back for just salad again. I'll stick to Souplantation for more selection and better hot items at a MUCH better price. read more

Super disappointed! We came in this evening at 7:28 pm. Ordered steak and lobster and the maibu chicken. We came in at the same time as a large party, but there were maybe six tables occupied other then our two parties. After patiently waiting 30 minutes for dinner, we finally asked for an update and were told there was a big party (party of eight) ahead of us. We asked to speak to a manager. About ten minutes later, the manager came out to deliver food with a gift certificate and an apology. We thanked her and cut into our food. RAW CHICKEN...after 40 minutes of waiting. We called the waiter back, and he said that he would send the manager over. After 20 minutes. The waiter was sent over with a cash refund for the malibu chicken. The manger never even bothered to come back over ...super disappointing. We won't be back! read more

Went to Sizzler for lunch and had a great experience. Salad bar was fresh and food was pretty good. We had coupons for lunch and added on salad bars for $4.99 which I thought was a good deal. The main reason I came to Yelp for this place was to comment on how EXCELLENT the service was! We had a man named Leo as our server. I'll just say that Leo is probably the best waiter I've ever had at a restaurant. He was very personable and genuinely treated our group of 4 as family. We did not have cash for a tip so we hurried to the cashier and got some money before he left his shift. read more

Went on a lunch date with my boyfriend and came in with a lot of expectations. I haven't gone since I was a kid, and with the reopening of this location, along with some friend's reviews, I decide to give the salad bar a try. For lunch, the salad bar is $8.95. You can order a regular meal and add a salad bar for $4.95 more, but I decided I won't be that fat today. They have great customer service and the seating area is clean, but the decorations are kind of tacky and way too "over American." The salad bar was a big letdown. They have soup, salads, hot appetizers, a taco bar, and desserts, but it just didn't taste that good. I only liked the soups and the chicken wings, but the salad didn't taste fresh and the other appetizers were just meh. There were so few food options to choose from! Overall, it was an okay experience. Customer service is what made my review a 3 stars and not a 2. read more

Its open again and humming with energy! A fresh look and an updated menu. Staff has always been friendly and the new store has not changed that. A fantastic salad bar with more than just salad. Also, you can get a steak and the salad bar for just a couple of bucks more. The steaks aren't that high of quality, but for just $10.99, you can't go wrong. read more

Went here for lunch with a friend it was her first time at a Sizzler. We asked for cheese toast. She had fish and chips, I had the burger. They brought rolls, then our drinks, then her fish and chips, then the cheese toast and half way through her meal my burger arrived. The waitress did come by several times asking if we needed anything. We asked for a box to take home leftovers, she brought two small pieces of foil and a small doggie bag- they said they only give you boxes for large items?? A half a burger and a plate of fries usually constitutes a big box in my mind. Since remodeling it reminds me of a casino with all the neon and plastic booth separators. read more

The fambam comes here pretty consistently. The 'rents are big fans of the salad bar, often snagging huge plates of veggies. The staff is always friendly and willing to chat and laugh at my father's poor jokes, so that's a plus. I nearly always order the steak with steamed broccoli. Never had any issues with it. Only time I did not enjoy my meal was when I ordered the herb chicken - the meat was ridiculously dry and tough to chew. read more

Now that Marie Callendar's is out of business, this is where all the oldsters hang out! The recent renovation made this place a million times nicer than before... since it used to be an absolute pit, that may not sound like much of a compliment, but I actually think it looks clean and pleasant on the inside and you'll end up with a decent meal for a decent price. I am pretty ambivalent towards their entrees, but their salad bar is above average. It's no Souplantation, sure, but there are lots of options (including plenty of hot items) and the quality seems to be there. The staff is unusually friendly, even when pushed to the edge (I have a friend who is very, very finicky about her food). I do agree that their doggie bag policy is a little unusual, but I guess they're trying to prevent people from pillaging the salad bar on the way out... read more

Last night I went at about 4pm and I had such an amazing experience. I have worked in the restaurant business myself, and as a past manager I definitely give this place a 10/10 in customer service. We got our food fairly quick, the taste was impeccable! We order extra of the shrimp ( we got the unlimited) and they're wasn't any complaints. Our server, DAVID H. was very polite and gave us a great service. He came and checked up on us about every 5-10 minutes asking if everything was okay and if we needed refills. He never walked away until we he made sure we all got what we needed. He had a positive attitude the whole time with a huge smile and, never saw him frowning. I will definitely come back to this location! I hope all your servers are as polite, happy, and professional as he was. Thank you ! read more

I was sad when the restaurant closed - and then Sizzler came back and I am happy to be a frequent customer again!! My senior salad bar suits me to a *T* ... and I like that they have club soda to replace the soda that I should not drink. Thank you, SIZZLER! The staff and manager(s) are always very nice to me. I sort of have a set order of what I take to eat and I eat what I take. My only problem is the unsupervised children - who touch but don't always take what they touch. Alas, SIZZLER is still a fav of mine! read more

Didn't like the prices or the ordering structure and food was ok. The thing I disliked the most was the whole wait in line and read the menu on the wall. I felt rushed like I was trying to make a decision with some pretty hefty prices while standing in moving traffic. Pricing was more than I expected. I thought Sizzlers was more of a middle of the road restaurant, but came off like it was a fine dining establishment. Most fine dining establishments don't have a menu on a wall though. And I wasn't sure if we were suppose to leave a tip. Since you decide on your meal and pay at the front, then you meet your waiter later after they bring your food and wait on you, meaning there's not stub to pay at the end and leave a tip, and I never carry cash. Confusing.. The service was good. Just again a weird structure. The atmosphere was nice. Lively. Nicely lit. Comfy booth seating. Clean and new looking. The food was ok. Steak was tough like some people mentioned. I liked the salad bar cause it had more than just salad which I was pleasantly surprised. Overall I probably won't be returning unless they change things unfortunately. I hope they do though cause there's definitely a lot of potential! read more

A good standard. I've always received good food and service with a good value in price/food. We arrived apparently in the nick of time because we were immediately seated, whereas when we left the line was out the door. I had the fish & chips, a standard dish. The fish was good but the fries were meh. I expected the larger fries and received the fast food fries. I rarely leave fries behind, but this time I did. It was my sister's birthday and they brought out a small sundae with a candle. Nice, but not over the top. The service was good, but not outstanding. This is a good place to go, cuz you get the expected, it's a not above Applebee's and on par with Outback. There was no WiFi, and that bothers me that places do not have that. Yes, I know, I should be paying attention to those around me, I do. But I want to review the place while I am there. I'll be back I am sure, but it will be a while. read more

OMG, I always do this, give in to my 8 year old son and go to Sizzlers. Everytime I go I always regret it. The potato wedges were so cold and cut to thick they were hard and had a funky taste to them. The crab salad. . . don't get it. I took one bite, tasted a sour taste and it was room temperature, I had to spit it out into my napkin. The onioin rings, fried to a crisp where it hurts the roof of my mouth while I eat it. While my two younger sons like it cause they like that they could pick between speghetti, soup, onion rings and jello, I do not reccomend it to an adult looking for a quality meal. read more

Haven't been to a Sizzler in ages, let alone the one here in my own town. Randomly my son and I ran an errand and decided we would stop in since it was convenient. So glad we did! They have updated the look and the food and service were/are wonderful! Our server Leo was fantastic and so friendly with a big smile! Can't wait to come back. So pleasant and such a refreshing change of pace from the standard Chili's or Applebee's we are so sick of. Thanks Sizzler! read more

Visited this restaurant last night for dinner around 7:30. My sister and I ordered our meals and ordered baked potatoes, we went and sat down at our table. The manager came out 15 or 20 minutes later and let us know, that the baked potatoes wouldn't be done for another 50 minutes. We were given an option of vegetables or mashed potatoes. Once our meals were served, we found out that the mashed potatoes, after tasting them, were instant mashed potatoes. My sister got gravy on her plate but I didn't get any gravy, at least my steak was done right. We ended up having to hunt down the manager multiple times to get things. I went to the manager and let them know what was going on with the meals and how bad they were and I was just offered a discount the next time I came given, that I live out of state, I definitely won't be going back to the sizzler in Oceanside. read more

Having never been to a Sizzler before my dear one and I didn't know what to expect. A co-worker suggested it so we went there after signing up for their e-club online. (You get a Buy One Entree, Get One Free coupon when you sign up) I found the menu and the walk-in process somewhat confusing. There's a huge menu on the wall and you turn a small bend to order. People come right up to you to offer help if you stand there for more than a minute. I have mixed feelings on that. On one hand, help is nice. On the other, if we need help they're only 4 feet away so we could easily ask. Further more the person was not very clear about what we did ask. One of the problems I have with Pay-First restaurants is deciding in advance how much to tip if paying by CC. It's a bit awkward anticipating how much of a tip you'll want to leave. If I have exceptional service I like to leave more than average tip. Sizzler works like this.... You can order just an entree or add the Soup, Salad and Apps buffet aka "Salad Bar" for $4-5 dollars more. You can also just order the Salad Bar. We chose the petite lunch steak special (6oz?). The lunch version comes with one side only but also had a drink. I think dinner comes with larger steaks, no drink and two sides. But maybe you get a drink too? It's weird because it really seems like if you came at dinner it would be an over-all better value with more steak and another side for just a couple dollars more per person. However there was a sign at the buffet saying that SOME meals won't come with a To-Go box, implying if you fill up on buffet there will be no way to take home your steak/entree. I wasn't sure if that was the kind of entree we ordered or not. See? Confusing. You're definitely pressured to figure it all out rather quickly since the layout means you stand at the front of the line to view the menu. On my way out I noticed paper menus at the start of the line so I'm going to stand there and check it out before walking further down the hall. Food: Both steaks were ordered well done. They both arrived at our table way under done. One was at a medium rare and the other was at medium. I kept the med one since it tasted good and was an acceptable texture. He sent his back and it arrived medium well. :-S He kept it that time and was able to tolerate the somewhat bloody meat. Both had good grilly flavor. I ordered fries and my muffin got a baked potato and we shared them with each other. He liked my fries a LOT more than his choice. I thought they were just decently good. Better than some chains but so-so compared to 5 Guys. I poured the too-salty Broccoli Cheese soup on his potato and it was delicious with lots of pepper. We ordered Tea and Root Beer. He liked my tea a lot more than the Root Beer and didn't mind sweetening it himself to get it. The waiter happily switched him to a tea. On the day we went, Thurs, the buffet had: potato wedges (delicious and better than the fries in my opinion), onion rings (too oily and nothing special), spaghetti and meatballs, macaroni n cheese, Clam Chowder, Broccoli Cheese Soup (way too salty), And something with clear red broth. I think they might have had a 4th soup which was something that looked like Chicken Noodle. There was also a Mexican bar with taco salad shells, taco shells, flour tortillas, rice, cheese sauce, shredded cheese, pico de gallo, guacamole, sour cream, shredded pork, seasoned beef and beans. The dessert bar was laughable with some excessively greasy and too-moist blueberry or peach cobbler cake things or bread pudding. Plus soft serve ice cream which had a weak flavor and only 4 toppings, caramel, some other sauce, gummies and oreos. The cold salad bar had lots of lettuces and a wide array of veggies, a few cold salads like macaroni, seafood, and coleslaw. Lots of dressings and crunchy-type of toppings plus the usual suspects like cottage cheese and eggs etc. A couple nicely done pre-made salads too. There was some fresh fruit on the end. It was so-so but not bad. The strawberries were a bit too tart and the watermelon was a bit too mushy on most pieces. Service: Our waiter was friendly but didn't do well with multitasking. He asked about our food before we tried it so, a few minutes later, I had to flag someone down to send the steak back. They were very polite though. At one point we asked for sugar for our tea and it took at several minutes to get that. He brought out a few entrees before grabbing it. Next time we'll just grab some from another table. Our waiter told us that the Sizzler Sauce was just as good and almost the same as A1. I don't know why, since they DO have A1. For the record: it is not the same. It's very red. It's much sweeter. And it has a faint teriyaki flavor. I liked it... but would have dreadfully missed A1. Will We Return? Yes.. but with mild reservations. If I could get the lunch special and take most of my steak and side home, I'd be all for it so I'll just ask about that next time. read more

This restaurant reminds me of a chain back in the midwest called Western Sizzlin. You walk in, order your entrees, pay and go sit down or hit up the salad bar or side bar. The prices are about average. You can get endless shrimp for about $15. I'm not a fan of their shrimp, though, because it's really greasy - more so than normal. The salad bar is big and includes anything you could want on a salad as well as fruit. The side bar usually has about eight items or so. It usually has fried chicken wings, potatoes, green beans, tortilla chips & cheese, tacos and spaghetti. None of this stuff is very good though. The soups are generally decent. They have clam chowder, if you're into that. The service is usually very good. I would recommend this place. read more
