Stopped by for a quick dinner at the Sizzler as I was craving protein and a salad with an ice tea. I entered the restaurant and was greeted by a very professional individual. Joshua S. was welcoming and very professional with excellent customer service skills. Definitely manager material it he isn't yet he needs a promotion. I ordered the double hibachi chicken with veggies and a one trip salad bar with an ice tea with lemon. The ambiance was quite and peaceful. The kind waitress was very busy and stopped by to grab my ticket and returned with my order. I did not get her name but she was truly kind and efficient. Our server Tim is always the best! We love to come down and see him during dinner and are lucky enough to land in his section almost always. We enjoy being able to watch football too! The young lady Eleyna at the front wasn't as friendly. She didn't ask us what kind of soft drinks we wanted and chose coke for all of us when we all don't like coke. Sizzler is always nostalgic. There's not many left in the area in Southern California. It's a real treat to come visit this one. I got their dresses. It opened and they were already three people ahead of me and several more behind me. I was really hoping to just have a quick lunch which really just included the salad bar. I asked about the lunch specials, which started at $14.99. And included a few steaks in the Malibu chicken. They only came with side items and not the salad bar which was an additional $9.99. I ended up just getting the salad bar which was $18.99 plus a Coke which rounded out to around $24. The salad bar and hot food bar and dessert bar were freshly stocked and looked fresh and delicious. Obviously, since it had just opened, everything was still intact. They had a citrus salad, which was delicious. I also tried just making my own salad as well as a few chicken wings, a taco, a potato wedge and some macaroni salad. The server with the dark brown hair pulled back was very nice and friendly. She brought me another refill of Coke. She also brought me the infamous garlic toast, which should be illegal in my opinion because it's so delicious. Just cool old-school vibes inside. I always find lunch is a more mellow vibe and dinner which I would find chaotic. Plenty of parking out front. Everything I tried tasted fresh and delicious although the tuna salad did have an overly fishy flavor to it. I know it's tuna, but this was a little more pronounced. The citrus salad was delicious. I did not have any dessert. The Coke was perfection and honestly the vegetable beef soup was also delicious with large chunks of vegetable vegetables in a delicious broth. I think the value overall is pretty good. I think you can start to creep a little bit with pricing once you start adding a lot of stuff into your initial meal. I think next time I probably would get an entrée and then maybe add the salad bar because it basically came out to the same price. I only made one trip through the actual salad bar and one trip before the hot food bar. read more

Service: You peruse the large illustrated menu on the wall prior to the cashier and prepay your meal. You pick your table or booth, and the server checks your ticket, brings your drinks and cheese toast if you want (say yes to this). Food sometimes comes out quickly but slow during busy times. They also replace salad bar items regularly. They bring refills promptly most of the time. The vibe: A wide variety of people during the daytime but during weekends, noisy and crowded. lots of families with kids hanging near self serve ice cream and desserts. The clientele matches the overhead music from the 70's, 80's - and 90's. No Sza or Shaboozey here but you'll hear Earth, Wind, and Fire, and classic rock.During those decades, Sizzler was king of sit down restaurants but is still is popular here. There are a few TV screens, and mostly booths. The food: All you can eat salad bar, steaks, and seafood. Though prices have soared recently, the salad bar is still my favorite. We need to eat more fiber and whole foods to prevent diabetes and metabolic syndrome,. The prepared salads and desserts include imitation crab, cole slaw, macaroni, sliced peaches, jello, and spinach, my favorite. Some less healthy but popular options are fried chicken wings, spaghetti with turkey meatballs, tacos, and desserts. The steaks have improved since my last review, when now, even the sirloin is tender and juicy, thanks for obviously salt brining them (a technique used by all Chinese restaurants). I've grown to really like this place. As much as I like Pho, Italian, Japanese, and other foods, I love and miss the American food places. The weekend crowds make me optimistic that they''ll survive the dip in restaurant patronage. My steak came out perfectly, though sometimes they're underdone. The salad items are usually fresh. This is a monthly trek for me and worth half hour drive - just be patient if you have to drive here during rush hour or near the Irvine Spectrum. read more

We had such a great experience at Sizzler in Lake Forest! Honestly, I thought most Sizzlers had closed, so finding this one felt like such a nostalgic surprise. It was a childhood favorite of mine -- I used to order the Malibu Chicken when I was little -- and coming back as an adult was even better than expected. Our server, Monica, was AMAZING, friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience feel easy and welcoming. When we walked in, we were greeted by Jessica, who was so kind, and AMAZING too!! You can really tell there's a family vibe here lots of smiles, tables being checked on, and staff who genuinely care. The food was excellent. The salad bar is incredible with tons of fresh options, constantly refilled and well maintained. Tonight we had a ribeye with a baked potato and the salad bar great quality and great prices. They even have soft-serve ice cream and brownies, which is such a hit for kids. We've been here on Christmas Day and during the week, and both times were fantastic. Not many of these left, the one I frequented in SGV as a kid shut down years ago. Didn't realize there was once so close to me in OC. Once in a while we just feel like reliving our youth with our daughter by going to establishments that were around in the 80's & 90's. This was a great example of one. This location was clean (as clean as a restaurant at this price range could be). The experience was just like I remembered, we looked over the menu on the wall and did our best memorize it as we walked to the register and repeat it. I was glad to see they had another laminated menu there, made it much easier to order without stretching my neck and looking right. IYKYK. The steak was cooked to a medium well as I request, it was nice a smoky just like I remembered. The shrimp we got was the small fried ones, it was mostly batter with a tiny shrimp inside. The best thing at sizzler of of course the "salad" bar where it was just endless amounts of American essentials, the do it yourself tacos that would make Mexican ancestors roll over in the resting place and weird yet oddly delicious fried chicken wings where the batter puffed up 1/4 inch from the actual wing. And of course the salads with way too many dressings and topping to name. I would definitely frequent this establishment now that I know it's here. We called around all afternoon on Xmas day and most restaurants were closed. Someone finally answered the phones at Sizzler! We knew it would be crowded there since they are one of the few restaurants that were open but didn't realize how long the line was. Salad bar is always super fresh and good. Many choices. Several varieties of soups. They also have the taco bar but I hardly even touch it. Too much foods and usually already full by the time I finish my salad. Steak is okay. I ordered a grilled chicken club this time since we were at All that Shabu the night before with the family. Way too much eating for 2 buffets in 2 nights in a row. :) read more

We always have a wonderful experience when we go to this restaurant. The salad bar is excellent with all kinds of fresh vegetables and salad dressings, as well as yummy soups. Well, the food is basically good for the price. Except clam chowder. No. But, the Prime rib burger was FANTASTIC! Juiciest burger I've had in years. Could not eat the whole thing so I brought the rest home and told my older son he could have it. He ate it later but next day, said it was delicious and now he keeps thinking he needs to go there and get another burger. $14.99 for burger and fries. I've always enjoyed Sizzler, and while there aren't many left, this Lake Forest location really stands out. I'm not sure how recently it was remodeled, but you can definitely tell it's been updated--much more modern and well-kept than others I've visited. The space is clean, inviting, and clearly cared for. The salad bar was fresh and spotless, and the service was excellent. Everyone was friendly, including the other guests. While on a weekend vacation in Irvine I went to my trusty yelp app to find dinner plans for my party of 12. I was happy to inform everyone that I found a sizzler near our hotel. Pretty much everyone in my party is a fan of the franchise and we relish the opportunity to dine at a sizzler in the city that we're visiting. Our server for the night was a terrific waiter by the name of Tim, who was an absolute pleasure. He was professional, very polite, very attentive and all-around amazing at his job. He had to take care of our table which consisted of 12 people and a nearby table with 10+ guest and he didn't skip a beat. All of the food was great. From the double Malibu chicken to the ribs, the perfectly made steaks, the burgers, the chicken tenders as well as the salad bar. And the customer service, thanks to Tim was spectacularly superb. He's a hard worker. He deserved every bit of his tip and the next time we're in Irvine and decide to dine at sizzler hopefully we're lucky enough to be seated in his section. read more

Salad bar is mediocre. What makes the experience worse is the manager Scott T. He looks miserable all the time and makes it an unwelcoming atmosphere with negative vibes. I feel awkward when he walks by. From observing his sharp looks and rudeness towards customers, I will no longer be returning nor do I recommend eating here. Just not worth it anymore. read more
