Went here a couple weeks ago because my heat was not working and my engine was shaky. They told me it was my head gasket and it would cost 3,000 dollars. Since I couldn't afford it they offered a temporary fix which was just replacing my coolant which was 250 dollars because oil got mixed into it. I was told my car would be safe to drive for now until I put some mileage on it. I was also told my heat will not work until I get my head gasket fixed which was entirely a lie. I told my uncle who is also a mechanic and he told me my head gasket should have no effect on my heat. I took it to another Subaru mechanic and not even 5 minutes after looking at my car he found a hole in my coolant hose. I'm not sure how that was missed at all cause even I could see it. He replaced it and topped me off with more coolant and my cars heat started to work again. He also told me it's unsafe to drive with a hole in my coolant hose cause my engine could've overheated and the problem would become even worse. It's also nice to know the 50 dollars they charged me for coolant was meaningless cause right after I drove off it was spraying out the hose. I feel very misled and lied to. read more

I have been a patron of Alex and his Six Stars Automotive for over six years. Why? Because he knows Subarus inside out, is efficient and fairly priced. Now on my second Forester (276,000+ miles) I had noticed an oil leak and my check engine light had come on. I dropped in and asked Alex about it. He immediately squeezed me in and put my car on the lift to take a look. Then lowered the car to look from the top of the motor. He spotted the leak at my oil pressure sensor and replaced it. I was new to the area and referred to Six Stars by the local Auto Zone. Not only is Six Stars SUPER friendly and accommodating, but they are INCREDIBLY fair priced and do an AMAZING job. I've used them several times for everything from an oil change and brakes to a new timing belt and idler. Hands down best mechanic in Colorado. The interior is always clean and smells nice. I never feel like I'm being taken advantage of or talked down to, which as a woman tends to happen with mechanics. Love love love it here. On a cross country road trip for last 4 months, stopped to visit a friend in Denver before the last push home to Oregon. Just before I arrived to town, my check engine light came on for second time in 3 weeks...but didn't turn off, as it had the first time. My friend's sister recommended Six Stars, and Yelp reviews backed that up, so I swung by on a Monday morning to see if there was any chance they might squeeze me in and diagnose what was going on and whether it was safe to continue on. I offered to leave the car if that would be helpful, but Alex said he'd check it right away. Was able to diagnose something going on with catalytic converter/ exhaust system, and reassured me it was safe to drive home to get it to my mechanic. Same day auto repair service without an appointment is so rare these days; to get my worries alleviated and check engine light turned off so I could access other systems for the rest of my trip home--within 10 minutes of stopping in?!?! Unheard of, and so amazing. And, he refused to take any money for his service. I'd absolutely recommend Alex. Thank you so much!!! read more

The *one star* rating applies to my own limited contact with Six Stars. I had a unique request, though it invoved an after-market product, wouldn't accept my service request for a simple connection up in the steering wheel column. As I own TWO Subaru vehicles, both with upcoming service maintenance, won't be taking them to Six Stars. I gave Six Stars a chance to earn my future business with multiple vehicles, but they lost it. I've since found another Subaru repair place that's willing to work with me, Speedy Roo, and I'll take my vehicles there for maintenance instead of Six Stars. read more

I had some pretty major repairs done to my 98 Subaru back in December 2018. Yesterday I noticed the same type symptoms coming from the right rear wheel bearing they had replaced in December. Dropped the car off and went home. Couple hours later had a message that the car was ready to be picked up. Arrived at Six Stars and Alex and Inna met me inside. One of the wheel bearing's they had replaced in December had failed (no big deal, things happen). I spent 45 years in the car business and most places I've worked in the past would have taken this event as an opportunity to (make something up) so they wouldn't have to do the work for free and charge me even more money. Not at Six Stars! They not only replaced the wheel bearing at no charge but they seem to always do something a little extra. Last visit Alex pulled a small but annoying dent out of the drivers door, annoying because the door would not open fully. Alex pulled the dent out and didn't ask for a penny! This time I had a heat shield that was rattling to beat the band. Alex said he would try to weld it for me. Amazing, no more rattle and other drivers are no longer looking at me like "is that thing gonna blow" and again at no charge. I will never go anywhere else for any type of auto repairs. Alex and Inna are as honest and trustworthy as they come in the auto repair business. They deserve and have earned every five star rating you see here on Yelp. They just opened in 2012. I called and set up an appointment. Alex the mechanic/owner was busy and it looks like he knows what he's doing and he told me he has over 10 years of experience fixing Subaru. They had a bunch of Outbacks and Foresters lined up in the back of the shop for him to fix. They have a 1 year warranty on their work and they have a older Outback for a loaner car. The facility is not the best but you won't get ripped off by a service consult like at a dealer. They fixed my steering issue at a reasonable cost and I would recommend this independent shop to Subaru owners. read more

CARS!!! UGGHH!!!! Can't live without them in lovely Colorado sadly. I had to come here on an emergent situation, I wish it was a different circumstance like an oil change perhaps? So, here's how my story goes. It was a Monday afternoon and I was driving to brunch. My clutch was acting up a bit, but I didn't think too much of it. I made it to my destination, sat, ate, drank. I then decided to head to my office for work and I noticed it was getting increasingly more difficult to get my car into gear. I was about a quarter of a mile to my office when my clutch decided it wasn't going into gear anymore. This unfortunately means that my car will not accelerate. I glided into a parking through pure momentum and called six stars seeing if they would be able to fit me in. The nice woman said they had a some extra time so bring the car in. I restarted my car thinking maybe I could get it to move. Wrong. I called a tow truck and we towed my poor car to Six Stars. We were greeted by the woman who answered the phone and Alex the mechanic. After we got my car to the back he immediately looked at it and saw my clutch hose was leaking. I had no clutch fluid at all in my car. Well, that explains a lot! He immediately called a few shops to purchase a hose for my car, but the part wouldn't be there until later that day. He said my car would be fixed (assuming that is the only issue) before noon the next day. Sure enough, my car was ready at 11:30am. It cost about $200 with labor, definitely not a bad. They did great work and had friendly service, I would recommend them if you're in the area! read more

The check engine light and two other error lights lit up on my Impreza dashboard earlier this week. I called Six Stars early this afternoon to see if they could run an engine diagnostic test the next day. Instead, they got me in an hour after I called. Within 10 minutes of arriving, my car was diagnosed and the (fortunately) simple repair was made. The man who fixed my car (I didn't catch his name) refused to charge me. Try getting that kind of service at the auto dealership! I highly recommend this place if you have a Subaru. read more

Highs: - Excellent pricing - Low pressure - Friendly and considerate Lows: - Check-in/intake process needs refinement I took my battle-hardened 98' Outback here for an oil change, and I was impressed by the quick and uber-polite service. I was particularly impressed by the fact that - without a request or charge - Alex put a new screw in my front license plate and straightened it out. I know, I know...it's just a screw. What's the big deal, right? As a guy that works in the auto industry, I can tell you that a voluntary decision to do a nice thing for a customer is exceedingly rare. I've worked with techs that would just as soon spit in your eye as do you a favor, and I've worked with techs that would cry and complain about having to find a license plate screw. But the number of techs I've worked with that would do something like this without even being asked? I can count them on one hand. I was also informed about some problems my car has (when I say "battle hardened," I mean well used), and the prices I was given for repairs were solid. If I had a complaint (and I don't have a complaint), it would be that the check-in process wasn't well structured. When I arrived, no one was up front to greet me. When my car was done, I had to wait a few moments while the service writer (who seems to be Alex's wife) retrieved my VIN and mileage. But this is a small detail, especially considering how quickly the oil change was completed (20 minutes). All in all, I'm a fan. If you own a Subaru, drive by the Autonation store on Arapahoe (which charges a lot more for an oil change) and go to this place instead. read more

Extremely rude front desk. I called to inquire about pricing and front desk lady aggressively stated that a service was cheaper than Subaru retail service. I was quoted LOWER for a service at Subaru retail ...and yet she refused to believe anything that was coming out of my mouth and replied rudely, "that's what you called to me?". Instead of being rude and yapping away with your patronizing chuckle, please listen to your customer. We had a fender bender in a 2012 Outback and needed an alignment ASAP. I'd driven past this location and decided to try them out. I was very pleased. They are Russian and a bit difficult to understand on the phone, but as long as you ask for things to be repeated and are not in a noisy environment, it's fine. From the time the tow truck delivered our car until it was ready was about 18 hours - very good! The location is not fancy by any means but they are very accommodating, stay in great contact, and do excellent work. We will be going here as the car ages and needs work. Six Stars quoted a great price to have my motor mounts replaced. They were very friendly and had my car done prior to the agreed upon time for pick it up. Only problem I have is that it has been not quite 6 months and my car is now very loud due to a rough vibration. I had another shop tell me that was due to cheap parts being used. I thought the vibration would settle down by now but it has not. read more

Alex did head gaskets and timing belt and rack and pinion on a used 08 Outback I purchased. He did a great timely job for a very fair price. We brought the car back to him when we thought it was over heating-he checked it out filled the coolant and also replaced a faulty brake light bulb for no charge. Great work. Great service.
