    Chocolate Croissant & Mocha

The service was fast. The prices were affordable. The chocolate croissant has a fluffy bread consistency. The coffee was the weak part for me. The espresso shot was good but laking flavoring for a mocha.

A great addition to downtown Monterey! Shoutout to my sister who found this place. We both ordered a matcha latte with oat milk. Mine was sweetened with honey while her matcha was sweetened with vanilla. FYI they use Rocky's matcha (if the photo didn't win you over already). The place itself had great lighting and good amount of seating. Try this place out! It's across my favorite place to get sushi.

I love when new coffee shops pop up! This is a great addition to the coffee scene in Monterey! The staff was friendly and the inside of the cafe was bright and airy. My cortado was delicious, perhaps the milk wasn't as creamy as I wished but overall still a great pick me up! Would love to be back to try their matcha!

Yet another quasi 3rd wave coffee shop that only serves 12oz drinks. Great crew. Solid service. LIMITED menu and small drink sizes. I want to love this place. They'll need some specialized scratch made syrups and a 16oz size for this place to become my regular jam. It's got the swell...just needs nail the crest. Here's to hoping.

Best specialty coffee in Monterey! They do a great light roast. Seating is small and they don't offer public WiFi so it's not a place to sit and work at but the coffee is incredible

Such a cute little coffee shop. The staff were so friendly, welcoming and such a vibe. This place has a limited seating area, but you can take your drink to go and down to the beach for a scenic walk

I've been walking by this place a lot waiting for it to open. I could see a couple people in there daily working on getting the place together. They've really created a quaint, no frills place that is very welcoming. The service has been friendly and quick despite only being open a couple of days. The drinks are $4 for drip and about $5 for lattes which is cheaper than I expected for a new place with quality beans. I even bought a bag of beans from them that was cheaper than the roaster sells it online! This place will definitely be added to the rotation!

My New Coffee Obsession! I'm so glad I stumbled upon **6 Over Coffee Shop**! It's a bit tucked away, but trust me--it's absolutely worth finding. The coffee here is incredible. Rich, bold, and exactly what I need to start my day right. What really impressed me was how fast they are, even when it's busy. I walked in during the morning rush yesterday, grabbed a latte and a croissant, and was out in under 5 minutes. The best part? The staff is genuinely warm and welcoming--you can tell they actually enjoy what they do, and it shows in those real smiles. Oh, and can we talk about the vibe? The modern, clean aesthetic is so inviting, and everything--from the beautifully presented pastries to the overall atmosphere--just feels thoughtfully put together. It's one of those spots where you can tell someone really cares about the details. If you're anywhere nearby, seriously, treat yourself and check this place out. I know I'll be back!

This is my positive review on the chai latte only. Because I haven't tried the other drinks lol. This was my first time here. I wasn't expecting much on the chai latte because in many places it just tastes like sweet milk with a tad of cinnamon. But this chai blew me away. I love a really spicy chai . And there has only been a few places that make it good. This chai was spicy and delicious! Just the way I like it!! Perfect in every way. This will be my go to Chai when I'm in Monterey. 10/10! Finally I can have a good chai in this area. Idk what they used but it hit the spot. Warmed my soul. Hehe Best Chai in Monterey!

Coffee was terrible tasted burnt with hardly any sweetness. The workers were nice but yeah don't recommend.

Stopped in for our first visit and we were pleased to find an lovely selection of fresh pastries. We ordered an oat milk latte, drip coffee, basque cheesecake, chocolate madeleine, and biscuit. We had the biscuit with a nice jam but it was so good I enjoyed it all alone. I highly recommend the basque cheesecake: it's crustless with a caramelized top, pillowy light with just the right amount of sweetness. Perfect anytime of day. My oat-milk latte was delicious and was served in a nice quality stonewear mug: a nice lip feel. Prompt & friendly service. We'll definitely be back!

Vanilla latte and vanilla matcha latte
    Nancy C.

I had such high hopes for the matcha since they used Rocky's matcha but unfortunately it tasted like straight milk and it had clumps at the bottom. The vanilla latte was good tho! Their menu is pretty straight forward and the cashier said they only had 2 syrups.

It didn't look like it died down which is awesome for this business. I believe I waited 20-30 minutes in line before I reached the display case. There were so many delicious things to choose from, it was a challenge to decide! I opted for a croissant sandwich, a blue corn cookie, and some sweet treats for the beach. I also ordered a seasonal latte, I believe it was cherry chocolate with oat milk less sweet. There's a nice outdoor seating area with many tables in chairs. Since the weather was nice we decided to stop and eat for a bit. The ambience was very nice and calm. The food was delicious and their house made pickles were fantastic. They were crisp, fresh, and complimented the turkey sandwich so well. The blue corn cookie was very interesting and reminiscent of a tortilla chip. I'd definitely come back here if I were in the area.

Latte was decent, not too bitter or acidic and it was creamy They try a lot of variations for pastries, both savory and sweet! The savory danish was really tasty and there was some pickled / citrus component that added more depth and made it super interesting to eat! The salmon croissant was alright, had a really nice flaky crust but the filling tasted kinda gamey , would've been nice to have another component to balance it out. Cookies were niceeeee the buckwheat choco cookie had nice amounts of sea salt and was like a brownie texture on the inside. Choco chip cookie was thin and crispy on the outside with chocolate blobs spread around, quite sweet though There was a line going out the door but only had to wait around 15 min!

The cherry croissant was perfectly buttery and flaky, with the acidity of the cherry adding just the right kick to this breakfast pastry. I was initially hesitant on getting the clam chowder at a bakery and was thinking of getting it at a seafood restaurant on Cannery Row, but the reviews were glowing and the price was reasonable. I'm glad I took a chance on it, because the bowl was chockful with clams, potatoes, celery, and a briny creamy seafood broth base. The ambiance in this bakery is great- there's a beautiful wall mural on the back wall of this bakery and lots of inside seating. Don't miss out on this spot!

In good french bakery will never advertise $30 for 5 pastries. We ordered cappuccino and cafe a'laite . Worst ever. Bitter and tasted cheap cheap coffee. This is not french bakery/patisserie it was once. I doubt that it is under the same ownership. So very disappointing.

Massive glass cases filled with fresh French pastries and even a meat filled option or two. I've…read moretried several over many visits and all have been delicious. However---I've eaten pastries in Paris, France and these American made versions seem much less soft. It could be the local water or some other factors. According to Google--there are 4 factors--1. higher fat butter used in France 2. specialized soft flour with no flour additives used in France 3. France has strict baking regulations 4. French people expect hyper fresh artisanal products. This bakery is locally made top quality. There is an outside seating area that's a little shabby and neglected. Very limited indoor seating. Service is ok. But, for someone such as myself, who has travelled around the world, lived overseas as an expatriate, and has formally studied multiple languages in universities in other countries, it's kind of ridiculous for a French girl behind the bakery counter to repress a laugh--that she obviously wanted me to see--at my pronunciation of one of their products. Give me a break! She clearly understood what I said since she retrieved it for me.

It has been around for about…read more12 years, and I have been coming here at least once every two weeks for that entire time. There are a lot of great bakeries, pastry shops, and cafés on the Monterey Peninsula, but this one has always stood out to me for its quality, consistency, and charm. They usually have at least 15 different varieties of French pastries, along with mini cakes, bite-size tiramisu, brownie bites, and premade sandwiches. Everything is beautifully presented, and you can tell they care about the details. I also order large amounts for my staff at least once a month, and they absolutely love when I bring these treats in. One of the best things they offer is their fresh focaccia flatbreads on Saturdays. If you're lucky enough to come in around 10 in the morning, you may catch them while they're still warm. They usually make three or sometimes four different varieties, depending on what the chefs decide to create that day. There isn't really a set menu for them, but in true French fashion, they put out whatever they feel inspired to make, and it is always amazing. The only problem is that they usually sell out within an hour, so you have to get there early. I honestly don't understand why they don't sell those focaccia flatbreads throughout the week, but I'm guessing it comes down to quality. They seem like perfectionists, and that is probably part of what makes everything so good. When you get one warm, it is absolutely worth the trip. The pastries are excellent, the quality is consistent, and the shop has become one of those dependable Carmel places that locals truly appreciate. Personally, I'm not the biggest fan of their coffee, but I'll admit I'm a bit of a coffee snob. That doesn't take away from the overall experience at all. After 12 years of coming here regularly, I can confidently say this place is special. It is warm, consistent, high quality, and very much part of the Carmel community. Five stars for sure.

Our quoted wait time for two people was "1-11 minutes" on New Year's Day. Service was excellent, the staff incredibly friendly and professional. We ordered the smoked fish platter, buttermilk cakes combo with overeasy eggs and chicken apple sausage, iced mocha, and hot tea. The pancakes were certainly fluffy and buttery as described on the menu, but that's cuz I asked for extra butter on the side (note, they didn't have sugar-free syrup available). The sausage and eggs were cooked perfectly. The smoked fish plate was tasty as well, made up of a nice mix of ingredients, a delicious bagel of choice, and fresh fruit.
